This is an excellent book that follows Virtue Falls. Taylor Summers is the main character and has unwittingly become a pawn in a game played by the evil Michael Gracie and the philanthropist Kennedy McManus. She is both enchanted by and fearful of Gracie but fell in love with McManus even though he was not very emotional. She and Kateri Kwinault, formerly with the Coast Guard and now the town librarian, worked out a plan to finally rid the world of Gracie. When the game came to a close, Gracie's helicopter and means of escape was shot down and crashed into the Pacific. Taylor shot Gracie and saw him fall into the sea. When she and the sheriff looked over the cliff, they saw a body floating in the ocean amid the helicopter wreckage and she assumed it was Gracie. But was it?

I read Virtue Falls, the first book in this series and have been eagerly awaiting the second. This book did not disappoint! When Taylor stumbles on the kidnapping and possible murder of a child, she puts her own life in jeapordy to save the child. She spends the next year trying to stay alive, save her reputation and put the man responsible behind bars. I loved Taylor. She started out insecure and vulnerable and became a very strong, determined woman who knew that she couldn't trust anyone else to save herself, she had to do it herself. Surprisingly, her love interest comes into the story late and is not entirely likable. I wasn't really sure what the attraction was for her and wasn't sure if they would even end up together.
This book was edgy, dark, exciting and I couldn't put it down! I would highly recommend it!

I enjoy reading books in a series, like Maggie Shayne.Catherine Coulter, Heather Graham and others. New friends and their stories develop along with the original characters. I was hoping this would be the case in this book. I am just weary of never ending sequels. Like when you watch a tv series like "the Mentalist" with eternal villain Red John..enough already...is, it a play to sell more books?
I did like Taylor, aka Summer and her story of survival and I really enjoyed Kateri, Rainbow and Carol. I would enjoy a book about Virtue Falls again, not another repeat of these main characters though.
Glad I borrowed from the library and didn't buy it.

Hooks you from the first the chapter. Taylor's life is pretty much destroyed one day while sketching mountains. She witnesses a crime and ends up on the run for her life, her reputation and career gone, unsure if there is anyone she can trust. To survive she evolves into someone who can survives frigid mountains with little to no equipment, someone who can defend herself and do whatever it takes to stay alive, and even invent a successful new life in Virtue Falls.
If you read Virtue Falls you will love this book. Also some of the people from Virture Falls are back-Garik, Elizabeth, Kateri, Rainbow and Margaret Smith, but it is totally different story with a different person in danger and the hero-he is different too-Kennedy has no people skills and doesn't really seem to miss them. The villain is a total psychopath and the ending leaves you believing he may be back.

I was completely absorbed in this thriller. It was full of suspense and there was also some romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is not the first book in the Virtue Falls series, but it is the first I have read. It works perfectly as a standalone, although I am now interested enough to read the previous book and short stories as well as future books in this series. I recommend this book! The build up to the dramatic conclusion was full of tension and anticipation, and the ending was perfect.

Christina Dodd does it again in her second foray into the thriller world with "Obsession Falls". I found Obsession Falls to be a more thrilling book than her first effort, "Virtue Falls". My intention was to space out reading this book over the course of a few days while I concentrated on some other work I had to get done, but as usual with Dodd's novels, I got sucked in and couldn't put it down. That being said, there were a few "huh?" moments and other areas where I would have preferred a different outcome, but that's me.
The story centers around Taylor Summers, a successful interior designer, off to the Sawtooth mountains to find her artistic muse again, in the area where she lived as a child. While drawing some landscapes in an isolated area, she overhears what appears to be a child kidnapping turning into a murder. She disrupts the deed, allowing the child to escape, but her signed drawings at the site tip off the would-be murderer(s) as to her identity.
Before she can leave the area, her car explodes and she is forced to run, discovering in the process that she was blamed for the death of one of the kidnappers, and that she is believed dead in the explosion. She needs to clear her name, but believes herself still in danger, and has no idea how to proceed, so she goes off the grid, calling herself "Summer", and living in the wilderness for months at a time. (I found this part a little hard to believe - she's living for months in the Sawtooth mountain in a tent, and she still manages to show up for work at occasional catering gigs?)
While she is still in danger, when she finally reaches out to the one man she believes can help her, she spurns his proffered help. I have to say I wasn't satisfied with their relationship as it ended - I didn't feel like they ever resolved their differences to the extent that they should have or reached the appropriate level of honesty to be together. I also felt Taylor/Summer had not satisfactorily resolved the feelings she had for the killer. That being said, if you can put aside the occasional suspension of disbelief, this is a really compelling read. The secondary characters are well-drawn (Kateri is getting her own story at some point, right?), and there are more twists and turns than in the first book of the series, "Virtue Falls".

Obsession Falls is a quick paced and well written book. It is a very exciting read and full of suspense. A book with a series of twists and turns. The female lead, Taylor Summer is a complex character and a heroine to root for. The male lead takes a backseat to her, but nothing small. I thought in the beginning she was going to get killed but yet another turn and she didn't. This is how the whole book goes--twists and turns--all along the way. Taylor gets into some sticky situations, but manages to pull through. The cliffhanger was a wonder! It had me guessing! If you read Virtue Falls, then you will enjoy Obsession Falls! Kudos to the author Christina Dodd--she has done it again! Can't wait for the next book to read!

The second book in the Virtue Falls series is riveting! Edge of your seat suspense! I did not read the first in the series, yet this one was perfectly understandable as a stand alone book.
It all starts with 29 year old Taylor Summers returning to her childhood home, Wildrose Valley to try to connect with herself and remember her early childhood. While stopped to sketch the mountains, she stumbles across a kidnapping and a murder about to happen. She puts herself in harms way to distract the killers from the young boy they are planning to kill.
After hiding in a cave overnight to get away, Taylor makes her way to town and breaks into her old childhood home. She is cold and starving and needs to find a way to get in touch with the authorities. When she finds a connection to the internet, she is shocked to see her name in the headlines as having been in on the kidnapping of 9 year old Miles, nephew of rich and powerful Kennedy McManus. She finds out she is believed to have died in an explosion set by the kidnappers.
Taylor spends months surviving any way she can, trying to figure out how to get her life back. After many trials and tribulations, she starts a new life in Virtue Falls, Washington as Summer Leigh, a housing concierge. She makes friends with many in the town, and bides her time until she is able to get contact to Kennedy McManus in a way that she thinks will not put her in danger. She needs to convince him that she wasn't in on his nephews kidnapping and get him to help her get her life back.
Weeks go by and finally Kennedy shows up. He's been obsessed with finding her for a year now, never believing that she was in on it. It was only a story fed to the press to keep his nephew safe from the kidnappers in case they returned. Taylor/Summer and Kennedy join forces to figure out who is behind the kidnapping, murders and stalking. It leads to an explosive ending that you won't want to miss. And just when they think they can have a happily ever after .... will they be able to?

I received this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this second book in the series by Christina Dodd. It begins with a description of the mountains, and what Taylor Summers sees there. I have to admit that the length of time that Taylor hides out seems rather unrealistic, and the manner in which she survived is also a little hard to believe. However, this leads to an exciting first third of the book, leading up to her ending up in Virtue Falls. Once in Virtue Falls, we once again meet characters from the first book in the series. I really enjoyed reading again about Kateri, and hope that she will be the main character in the next book. Taylor, who has changed her name to Summer Leigh after reaching Virtue Falls, is fitting into her new life in town, and has opened her own business, but the villains from the beginning of the book hunt her down. This leads to a roller coaster of a ride, and a cliff-hanger ending. The tension keeps mounting, and I couldn't read the book fast enough. I can't wait for the next book in the series, and I hope that the surprise (?!) at the end of the book will be resolved in the next book in the series. I heartily endorse this book for all readers who enjoy reading a book that puts them on the edge of their seat.

From the description of the book I really expected more romance. What a pleasant surprise to find a great thriller with a town full of interesting characters. I read Obession Falls before Virtue Falls which left me feeling like I was missing some interesting details. When Kateri was first introduced in OF I assumed she was old and failing, after reading VF I have a very different picture of her in my mind. BTW she is one of my favorite characters. So if you haven't read VF yet get a copy and add color to your enjoyment of OB. Read this book in 2 evenings and am planning to read it again right before the next book in the series is released. I don't know when it will be released or who the main characters will be, but I can hardly wait for the next book.

Obsession Falls was an amazing read if you like your books full of suspense and passion. The main female character, Summer, is very easy to like and to feel for as she goes through the twists one choice has brought her life to. The male lead, Kennedy, is easily likable even if somewhat of a smaller role. I love the twists and turns, the fear of favorite characters from Virtue Falls being pulled in, and the hope that the third book will be out soon!
Obsession Falls won't leave you disappointed!

What a story, left me exhausted! Had all the excitement one hopes for when they pick up a book to read and expect to be entertained. The suspense, ahh . . . the suspense killed me, the intensity consumed me. The author's talent made it a hell of a thriller for me and I thank you for that. Obsession Falls grabbed my interest and held on to the end. I have to admit, I enjoyed this book much better than Virtue Falls. The story was intriguing from the outset and I thought Taylor/Summer was a strong, smart, tough protagonist. I appreciate the fact that she persisted in solving her problems and maintained responsibility for her own survival. I liked seeing Kateri again and look forward to her story reaching a happy conclusion in the next book. Though I found this story entertaining, I thought the last encounter between Taylor/Summer and her nemesis far fetched (the encounter at the house under construction), somewhat over the top and hard to believe. But, it is fiction, so I'm going to let it go.

Obsession Falls holds your interest all the way through. I read this book over the weekend and could not put it down! This was a thrilling story of a woman on the run for her life after witnessing an attempted murder of a kidnapped boy. Taylor Summers shows how far a person is willing to go when they are desperate to stay alive.
Taylor finds herself in Virtue Falls where she must trust the people around her if she wants to ever have a normal life again. She’s always on the lookout for the person she knows will eventually hunt her down and attempt to put an end to what originally began one afternoon in the Sawtooth Mountains.
This is a great suspenseful thriller with a love story that is secondary to none stop action. 5 stars!

Obsession Falls, the second full length novel in the Virtue Falls series, will keep you up at night - because you will need to stay up to read it. It is that good. The tension continues to build throughout the story line until it becomes almost unbearable. Heart-pounding, pulse-racing, chase scenes, and moments of despair, alternate with descriptions of intense beauty. I highly recommend this book!

A Breathtaking, Spine-Tingling, Blood-Chilling, Nail-Biting, Toe-Curling goosebumper of a read. This book leaves you on the edge of your seat until the very end. But, it is a MUST READ. Even if you never read Virtue Falls (but you should, go do that now...) you will be sucked into this story like a vortex and it won't release you even after you're done with the last page. The detail and fear that Christina Dodd writes into her stories makes you gasp. Out loud. Especially when you are reading this in the dark while camping. Note to self: do not read the next one while camping. Go now and order this book in whatever medium you prefer. You will not regret it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second journey to Virtue Falls even more than the first book. There are 73 chapters and you are absorbed and intrigued and want to keep going to find out what happens to the characters that you read till it is finished. Or is it? I really appreciated the twists and turns in the plot that I couldn't predict and the lovable characters that become real and important. I kept finding myself saying Omg, OMG, OOMMMGGG, that I had to stop and explain to my husband what was happening. Very well written and I can't wait for the next visit to Virtue Falls.

I did not find Obsession Falls as interesting as Christina Dodd's other books. Her 3 main characters Taylor/Summer, Kennedy and Jimmy/Michael were not very realistic for me. Part One was too long and the rest of the book was more interesting. The 2 characters I enjoyed were Kateri and Rainbow. They just seemed to have substance. I read the book, but not with enthusiasm.

I have been waiting for this book since I finished Virtue Falls. Christina Dodd didn't disappoint. This was a great suspenseful read. I couldn't put it down. I love the development of the main characters throughout the story. Taylor's evolution throughout was at times painful and at times enjoyable. It was also great to catch up with some of the characters from the first book and see how they've been. This book is full of action and twists. Be prepared not to be able to put it down until you're through. Now I can't wait for the next book in the series.

A new couple; their stories start away from Virtue Falls, but they get there eventually!
Summer helps a boy escape from kidnappers and lies low believing the authorities think she was part of the plot.
Then she ends up in Virtue Falls and makes a new life for herself. The two guys show up, and she has to figure out which one she wants to be with!
All the regulars show up!

Huge fan of C Dodds books, but very disappointed in this book. The male lead in this book was a mere outline of a character, the reader knew hardly anything about him yet we were supposed to take him seriously, and believe his emotions, as a romantic interest to the strong female.
The female leads sympathies and attraction, to the psychopathic "villian" was also hard to buy.

Interesting from beginning to end. A unique style of writing that is intense, suspenseful and keep you turning pages, the level of erotica is minimal. I guess somehow we need that to make the story human?!

Wonderful Suspense Thriller. I absolutely loved reading this novel on my two days off. It is non-stop suspense from the very first chapter to the very end of the book. If you are looking for suspense and unexpected turns, then this is a book you must add to your to-be-read pile. It is nice to read a book that captivates you within the first few pages, that you do not want to put it down for a second. I enjoyed the main female character, Taylor, by being a strong, almost take charge type who is not afraid to do what needs to be done, no matter what the outcome could be.

I am a huge fan of Christina Dodd, this book threw me for a real loop. The suspense and mystery are outstanding but I struggled with the brutality, it may have been necessary to the story but it was hard for me to get through. I'm leaving this one with a question mark ???

I hated the ending
The story changed partway through from a thriller/mystery to a amateurish game that didn't seem to fit the adult book I had been reading. To add insult to injury the ending was worse

Very strange ending, not a happily ever after or even an ending. More thriller than romance. The main male character was strange, went from indifference to love to hate too quickly, without much development. Her writing continues to be good, but this seems very different than her other novels. Maybe moving out of the romance genre.

Obsession Falls is a book that at first glance is not for me. It is a mystery, yes, but also contains mysticism, romance, and Native- American history. I was surprisingly and pleasantly pleased, especially after reading the first 50 pages. There is sufficient action and enough unpredictability to make Obsession Falls a recommended book. Buy it – you will not be sorry.

Christina Dodd does such a wonderful job creating characters that you root for and that leave you guessing. Throughout Obsession Falls I was torn btween liking certain characters to hating them. Taylor Summers' is a such a realistic character and I was anxiously turning the pages to see what happened to Taylor and how she was able to survive. I look forward to reading more in the world of Virtue Falls and seeing how the surprising twist at the end plays out.

Obsession Falls was one of the most suspenseful books I've read in a long time. I'm a fan of Christina Dodd and she didn't disappoint with this book. Her characters have depth and pull you in emotionally. The heroine is a strong woman who gains strength and character with the challenges she has to meet. Unmotivated, unreliable and unaware. This would describe the state I was in when reading Obsession Falls. I couldn't put it down. Christina Dodd ---- Obsession Falls
Christina Dodd’s newest book is Obsessive Falls, her second book that takes place in Virtue Falls, Washington. (You don’t have to read Virtue Falls first. Obsessive Falls stands on its own.) And was I obsessed! Once I started reading, I didn’t want to stop. Dinner was late; laundry unfolded; forgot to go to the store for milk!
Immediately we meet Taylor Summers, backpacking in the Sawtooth Mountains of her childhood. She also drags along the baggage of a broken engagement, estrangement from her Father, and the belief that the scenery can turn her into an artist. Those emotions pale when Taylor witnesses a child’s kidnapping and attempted murder. Her actions draw the killers’ attentions so the boy can escape. She struggles to survive cold, hunger and the dangerous mountains. Just when Taylor almost has her act together, she witnesses a murder! A daring escape eventually leads her to Virtue Falls. Kateri and Rainbow, both with “other world” power befriend the re-invented Summer Leigh. Two men claim to love her: one a rescuer and one the crime boss. She is drawn to both. Which will she choose????
Christina Dodd is a versatile writer. She weaves compelling tales from Regency and Contemporary Romances to mysteries. She builds strong characters and they reach out and grab you! Christina’s books are impossible to put down. Her books have it all: intrigue, suspense, sorrow, pleasure, laughter, fun, sizzle and a bit of paranormal. I received an advanced copy of Obsessive Falls for a true and honest opinion and here it is: BUY THIS BOOK!
