I just finished reading this wonderful read. I am ever so happy to have found another author. I love the writing as it was not written with such huge and hard to understand wording. It was refreshing to just sit back and enjoy a story with out having to look up a meaning of a word every 5 minutes. I may be simple minded but I do enjoy reading many a good book. With my failing health It is nice to be able to read a good clean book and fill like you were right there watching this story unfold. I will be reading more of these books. The book was easy to get into right away and did not have so many characters that you could not keep track of them.

ABSOLITELY, POSITIVELY EXCELLENT. This was absolutely one of the best books I've read in ages and it deserves 10 stars not only 5. I loved the great mystery and the fabulous cat and mouse chasing from beginning to end. I loved the characters and absolutely loved the way Gabriel loved Betty. Even though I figured out who the killer was very early on it definitely didn't spoil the story. In fact it was even more exciting watching and waiting for the final chase. This was a book I absolutely could not put down once I started reading it. My next book is Gabriel's Revenge and can't wait to get started on that. This is a must read book.

Gabriel Celtic knows that when you have a killer who plays games with vanity calling cards, as a ghost, you have doubled troubles. When murderous intent centers on those you know and love, any viciousness is taken personally and must be eradicated quickly. A mastermind manipulates the killer, and the members of the Major Crimes Taskforce, easily, deftly, as if they were puppets tied to cords.
Are these bizarre murders from a warped mind seeking revenge? Have they all become cardboard cards being shuffled maliciously, waiting breathlessly to see where the ace of spades will land? Gabriel Celtic is dedicated. His determination to catch this audacious killer becomes an intensive struggle. Tattoos are memorable. Many have livid connotations for those willing to wear them, secretly, or openly.
Jasmine knew the killer's secret desires. He was like a play actor, needing direction, willingly able to carry out heinous acts against strangers. She enjoys her powers of manipulation.
Gabriel has intensified dreams involving a mysterious room. This is his cave, his source of inspiration and insight. He retreats there for solitude, comfort, and solutions. After startling revelations, Gabriel has serious problems. His wife, Betty, has been shot. She is on life support, and in a coma. His work has acid splashed over into his private life. He hates the idea of feeling powerless and useless.
J.T. Lewis writes effectively, and well. The scenes are graphic, and the characters are believable. Look for more work by this author.

Want leads for a baffling crime spree? Just sleep on it and allow your dreams to show the way. Want to beat a polygraph? Just have sex with the one testing (right there) and he will forget to give you the test. And on and on to the terrible ending that traces back to a room full of law enforcement allowing a murderer to get in one more shot after being overpowered. This book reminds me of a "dump" recipe. Throw in everything available and see what you get - in this case, one ridiculous mess!

This book has a number of characters that are believable without too much description. The narrative is easy to follow, but not mundane. Very enjoyable reading with just the right amount of action and puzzle solving. Recommended to any mystery lover.

The story has an interesting concept. Has you wondering who is the villan.
Unfortunately the Author needs more proofreading. I have never seen so many instances of incorrectly used words, not misspelled, but misused.
i.e. Hoard for horde, tact for tack, loose for lose, heals for heels, grizzly for grisly, seen for scene, desert for dessert, revere for reverie, cumin for coming, dipping for dripping, loosing for losing, breath for breathe (and breathe for breath),draw for drawl, verses for versus, queue for cue, mula for moolah, sight for site, past for passed, breaks for brakes, and note for not. Difficult to read and translate at the same time.

...an urban fantasy novel by the name of the series. A chief character named Gabriel should have given it away. I don't know when I've read a book with more blood and death in it. Oh yes, and sex as well. Plus unedited proofreading comments, as well. I have not decided whether or not to purchase the next in the series. I'll make that decision later.

I accidentally read these books out of order, reading the newest book, book 3: In Case of Death, first. JT's writing is great! Mystery is my genre of choice and I've read numerous mysteries from best selling authors. I feel JT Lewis is right up there with John Sanford and Lee Child. Gabriel Celtic and the other characters are real and easy to relate to. There is just a touch of supernatural that touches Gabe in his pursuit to bring down criminals, and it makes him more interesting. I also enjoy that the other characters are important to the story and not just thrown into the book as an afterthought. I look forward to reading book 2, while I wait for book 4! :) A must read for any reader that enjoys a good mystery!

There might have been a good story buried in this novel somewhere but it was so poorly written I couldn't read it. VERY passive writing - almost every sentence started with a gerund. Lots of errors of grammar too.

It was okay. Characters were good. For a trained cop she went over the top emotionall6 a few times.the diarywas a major clue but she didn't read it. Even though Mike didn't kill anyone he commuted suicide without trying to prove his innocents. Finished it but wont read anymore.

I had mixed feelings about this book. While I enjoyed the storyline and the character, Gabriel, it was so riddled with punctuation errors and the wrong use of homophones. The proofreader must not realize spell check does not catch these. Levy vs levee, sight vs site, heals vs heels, revere vs reverie are but a few examples. I also got tired of being told over and over how beautiful his wife was every time he sees or talks to her. Instead of telling us, the author should show us, then be done with it. This book is the first in a series. Perhaps the editing gets better. I do feel the author has a lot of potential.

This could have been a very good book. I sincerely tried to read the whole thing, but was just too distracted and aggravated by the poor writing and/or editing. Run-on sentences, incorrect grammar and punctuation and the incessant switching back and forth between present and past tense (sometimes in the same sentence) made the book impossible to read. If it were edited and then offered again, I might try once more to read it.

Repetitive phrasing, unnecessary detail, grammatical and spelling errors, the works. Amateurish and just not good. Author doesn't even know when to use "me" as opposed to "I". No idea how this got published, but don't waste your time.
