Among the Mad, another in the Maisie Dobbs Novel which meets and exceeds expectations of a great mystery. These novels take place in England after WW1 and they provide a glimpse at life at that time in England while at the same time gives us a good story.

Ms Dobbs is again delving deeply and spiritually into the after-maths of war. This story could have been as easily written about the after maths of our more current wars of the past tHree decades Her characterization of the undefeatable Maize is spot on, especially as we see her yearning,as we are, for her life to develop on a personal level...

Jacqueline Winspear keeps the plot moving, and in "Among the Mad" she deploys her skill at developing charaters without painting each as either black or white. She shows great empathy for the mentally wounded veterans of World War I and exposes the cruel experiments practiced on these hapless individuals.

I particularly enjoy reading books that entertain while being peppered with accurate historical information. After reading my first Maisie Dobbs, I quickly purchased more and have whipped through them avidly.
