What I said about the first volume can also be said about this volume and next two volumes! This is one of the best books ever written, and it has a positive affect on people for the rest of their lives. I give this book, or strongly recommend it to everyone I care about. I have read it 14 times now. Thanks for asking.

My score for this material is particularly based on the reputation of its author.
As a Christian and founder of an institution (OURLIFE SOCIETY.org), I trust this product as an immense contribution to my success.

It goes deeper into his philosophy, he explains some aspects he couldn't expand on before which I found valuable. It can be sort of repeptitive at times if you read the two books right away one after the other but I actually like that since I find it very motivational.

I recommend it.

I read the Law of Success the edited version as well as Think and Grow Rich many years ago; of course, the concept is amazing and at the time I thought this is as good as a book can get...I was wrong! This version is so much more and so much better! I highly recommend it to anyone who contemplates or truly intends to become successful to read this book! Best of luck to you all!

I think this book can be short, have great examples and words, but the examples are outdated and some times feels out of context since it's a pretty bold book, I would prefer a smaller version with just the lessons and no examples.... I don't care how much money anyone made at the time

The information in this book is useful. However, this book has at least a third of the pages still bound together. Separating them causes rips and tears in the pages. Paying for shipping the return is too much. I will find another publisher.

This detailed book by Napoleon Hill is one of his best ever. It is like a course study on this topic. If you like "Think and Grow Rich" you will also love this. I have read it 3 times in the last 2 years and study the principles. It has helped me achieve more happiness and success

What an incredible book, I have read a handful of Napoleon Hill books now and I must say, incredible value and wealth of knowledge that keeps contributing to pay for itself over and over again. I've read classics like Think and Grow Rich, How to Sell Your Way Through Life, etc and this is such a full rich novel- even in a first read it is sure to unfold your mind in a way that is magical.

The book is a poor follow up to Think and Grow Rich. It goes on an anti Christian tirade [or at least anti evangelical] seemingly endlessly. it is poorly written with many grammatical, spelling, and word errors. It is the quality of a rough draft. Despite all its negatives, it makes some really good points and leaves the reader much wiser for reading it. The workbook and survey are missing from this edition.

It takes a while for the principles taught to truly sink in. But after a few times listening, you will understand much more about life, the universe, and the nature of ourselves and fellow beings. You will be able to use this new knowledge to your advantage and create the "success" you are looking for.

The content in this book is well worth five stars as it can greatly enhance your life if you just keep an open mind. The wording is difficult and sometimes odd possibly because of when it is written. I reccomend getting the audio version instead of this book. I downloaded mine on audible.com which is owned by the store. I listened to it with a notepad handy and got a lot more out of it had I just read the book. You can do it if you believe you can.

The book was written in 1929 when a paycheck of $100.00 a week was a lot of money and radio was considered leading-edge technology. Keeping that in mind, the book is an interesting and educational read. The Sixteen Laws of Success in the book are timeless and relevant even today.

The Law of Success is still the benchmark for business and personal development. It's clear that pretty much all business and personal development techniques and coaches us this as their foundation. Should be required reading and study at all schools and universities.

This book has the 'origins' of the Life Coaching process as we know it today coloured with lots of stories! My problem is that it repeats itself too much and it would profit enormously from a good editor.

I actually returned this item. The narrative is way out dated and the narrator's voice was grating to listen to. I really tried, but after about 15 mins I couldn't stand it anymore. There are way better self-help/success CD's to purchase. Don't waste your money.

Standing on its own this book gets 5 stars for the ideas presented, but definitley not for the style and organization. However the real reason I give 3 stars is that the author has already successfuly condensed his philosophy into a more focused, clear, and readable book called Think and Grow Rich. I read Think and Grow Rich first and I'm not quite sure if the effort/time/money in reading the 800 extra pages in The Law of Success was worthwhile. Sure there are some additional good examples of his philosophy presented, but more than a few are not so good or are rambling or way too long. Its posible re-reading Think and Grow Rich would have been better.

There is a reason why this book cost 99 cents. I stopped reading after the first "lesson" dove into atomic theory. The author explains how electrons can be either positively or negatively charged... I never studied chemistry in my secondary education, but even I remember from high school that electrons are negatively charged. How can anybody continue to read this book after the first few pages are not even academically correct?? I don't know. Maybe if I decide to continue reading it someday my mind will change.

For such a highly praised book with interesting lessons about fears, this one is definitely to be read with a grain of salt... It was published in the 20s/30s which might explain gems like: Bald-headed men, for example, are bald for no other reason than their fear of Criticism. Heads become bald because of the protection of hats with tight fitting bands which cut off the circulation at the roots of the hair.........(?!?)

This is really hard to read. The author talks and talks about everything that passes his thought from astronomy to physics with nothing related to success, the main topic of the book. I have only read the first chapters and I am dizzy and wondering if I am crazy or am reading a book written by a schizophrenic person.

I think this excerpt should be sufficient for my review:

""THE PHILOSOPHY OF SUCCESS, CREATED AND BROADCASTED BY A MAN WHO WAS OBVIOUSLY A FAILURE!"

"What?" Mellet exclaimed, " a failure?

"Surely you know the difference between failure and temporary defeat," he continued. "No man is a failure who creates a single idea, much less an entire philosophy, that serves to soften the disappointments and minimize the hardships of generations yet unborn." "

The Author took too long in each chapter to get to the point of each chapter heading. Instead at the beginnings were "filler" just to make up the unnecessary thickness of this book! Costly to ship due to it's weight as well.

The book is toooo big ,it has to be layed out on a table. The book just keeps repeating it self. Everything could have been said once in just 150 pages. The print is way too small. Look for something else.

The version I received has different contents from the Orne Publishing 2010. The contents between chapters are not included in this version from Viax Publishing. I contacted this seller and they now state they only had one version. The front hardcover is absolutely different. This seller was not polite after being contacted.

This review is not against the book itself, but more towards the seller. I was disappointed when I received only one of the books in a two volume series. It was not listed that my purchase was for one book alone. Other vendors were selling both books for the same price.

Napoleon Hill’s approach to the teaching of the law of success is systematic. This can be demonstrated quite evidently by having a look at the table of contents of the book. There are 15 Lessons, each explained in a dedicated chapter. Be not mistaken, this is a huge volume with more than 600 pages and in 7.5x9.25 in format. It is too heavy to be held up when you like to read on a sofa or in bed; you will have to put it on your knees or on a pillow as it’s so heavy. But it comes at a very affordable price for the quantity of material offered.

Let me make a few comments upfront that are not to be meant as critique nor do they intend to question the value of this book. As the author wrote this book back in 1928, you need to tolerate some outmoded ways of putting things, spelling also, and many words spelled as capital letters.

To some people such a diction comes over as ‘boastful’ or imposing; in addition, there are repetitions so frequent that it makes the lecture of the book sometimes a bit tough. But the reader is rewarded by the many highly original insights that the author presents; and his honesty and straightforwardness is perhaps his highest virtue. In my personal view, the most rewarding, I think for any and every reader, are the many stories from the lives of highly successful people—which was after all the initial research subject of the author, and one of the reasons why he became rich and famous later in life. But it was a quite though pathway, with many repercussions, as any biographical study of the author will show. In the face of such hard-to-overcome obstacles, one can only admire the incredible self-discipline Napoleon Hill has employed in order to steer his path to final success.

It seems to me that success cannot be taught by just words and phrases; it must be lived so that it can impress others. We are all not modeling ourselves by the way people we admire talk about life or about themselves, but by the way they live their lives. And it all starts with what Hill calls a Definite Chief Aim, today by most success coaches called ‘Purpose’ or ‘Life’s Purpose’ or ‘Your Life’s Work’ in the words of career coach Laurence G. Boldt.

It would be too cumbersome to review here the entire book as I have done in my business review sampler. Suffices to render the potential reader aware of the 15 Lessons, which in my view also come with a priority in mind, Lesson One being by far the most fundamental and important, followed by Lesson Two, Self-Confidence. I think that without both you don't even want to start a business or any other endeavor ...

Lesson 01: A Definite Chief Aim
Lesson 02: Self-Confidence
Lesson 03: The Habit of Saving
Lesson 04: Initiative and Leadership
Lesson 05: Imagination
Lesson 06: Enthusiasm
Lesson 07: Self-Control
Lesson 08: Habit of Doing More Than Paid For
Lesson 09: Pleasing Personality
Lesson 10: Accurate Thought
Lesson 11: Concentration
Lesson 12: Co-Operation
Lesson 13: Failure
Lesson 14: Tolerance
Lesson 15: The Golden Rule

Needless to add after this rather extensive review that the present master course is a great achievement in condensing the most important ‘habits’ of a successful person, and even more so, a systematic road map that contains the principles of ‘self-building’ as it be be termed, so as to bring about success from inside-out, in the firm conviction that we are not thrown around by circumstances, good luck or bad luck, or any of the factors superstitiously held for ‘being responsible’ for our successes or failures. There is only one road to success while it may be sowed with many temporary failures or defeats; the important thing is to persist and to remain positive!

The biography of the Napoleon Hill, whose life was not easy at all, is by itself a strong argument for this truth.

Hill first wrote this book, the 16 lessons based on all the 25 years of research that he did interviewing the top successes in his time. It was only after the masses choked on the size that he created the smaller Think and Grow Rich - which is still as powerful today as it was then. If you have read it and want the full meal, these CD's are fantastic!
Also strongly recommended:
If you'd like a Real Library vs. an e-library, a multi - dimensional experience vs. a one - dimensional experience and a record of YOUR thoughts, ideas, goals, interpretations alongside the master authors, then this might be the most important book you'll ever read.
Everything you need to know for your success and future has been written by these masters...and you know, it's all available, ready to be carefully placed in your success library. All you have to do is walk into your library. You will have access to the finest, most ready success masterpieces in the world. The books that collectively have launched millions of millionaires. Soon, you will be one of them - NOT because you bought into some new Internet business, (who knows?), but because you have done the work that takes place right upstairs, in your head: your mindset. And that mindset is the foundation of your fortune. And your fortune is founded on the knowledge you will receive from the Masters. As you commune with them, and acquire that idea that will separate you from the rest of the pack, and begin to fill dollars into your bank account, you will realize it all came from simply reading a key book, jotting down your inspired idea, referring back to it, and taking action. After all, you'll have that `action plan' written in the margins of these books!

Every elementary and high school should study this book! The prelude to darn near every self-help book and Guru out there, and decades earlier! There's later and revised, longer, but essentially the same. ThgThge first 15 Laws of Success was easy to readf and understand. The longer versions didn't seem tyo help much more. Marketing.

The first batch of significant books that had the greatest influence on me in terms of attaining personal achievement includes mostly Napoleon Hill's books:

- The Law of Success (early edition);
- Think & Grow Rich;
- The Keys to Success;
- Success through a Positive Mental Attitude;
- Succeed & Grow Rich through Persuasion;

The others were from Clement Stone, Dale Carnegie, & Earl Nightingale.

That was the early 70's when I had just started work as a young engineer.

The author, Napoleon Hill, had impressed me most by his relentless dedication in spending some two to three decades of his life in pursuing & researching the success secrets of the rich & famous...with a little help from Andrew Carnegie, of course.

As matter of fact, many of the famous people he interviewed were also favourite role models of mine e.g. Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, just to name a few

Till this day, I have never forgotten what he said:

"The most powerful instrument we have in our hands is the power of our mind."

I have never ceased to be fascinated by the simplicity & the potency of his ABCs of personal achievement: CONCEIVE, BELIEVE & ACHIEVE!

It is certainly enlightening to note that even Stephen Covey had drew inspiration from Napoleon Hill's work even though he never made that credit. He only admitted that the 7 Habits had its origins from "200 years of success literature in the United States." That remark itself is self explanatory.

Anthony Robbin's Mastery program as embodied in his books as well as his audio/video resources is no exception, even though he has been influenced in larger extent by NLP.

If you look at & compare the 17 principles of personal achievement in 'The Law of Success' &/or the 13 Steps to Riches in 'Think & Grow Rich', one can obviously see the uncanny resemblance of the 7 Habits & the Mastery principles...in one way or another.

At this juncture, let me outline the principal theme of each book:

The Law of Success: the original course on the fundamentals of success - all the seventeen essential principles of personal achievement (over 1,000 pages of information);
Think & Grow Rich: The seventeen essential principles are reframed & condensed in terms of thirteen concrete steps to wealth creation (in actuality, this is a condensation of the Law of Success);
The Keys to Success: a further elaboration of the seventeen essential principles with concrete suggestions, exercises & advice;
Success Through Positive Mental Attitude: joint authorship with Clement Stone, with a further emphasis on developing a positive mental attitude;
Succeed & Grow Rich Through Persuasion: joint authorship with Clement Stone, with a further emphasis on developing master salesmanship & networking;
[It is pertinent to note that Clement Stone actually built his insurance business empire with these principles.]

My most productive, personal learning experience from Napoleon Hill's work is the understanding - & application - of his success principle #1: Develop Definiteness of Purpose.

[Very surprisingly, J Y Pillay, former Chairman of Singapore Airlines, - who had been credited for building the airline to what it is today, A GREAT WAY TO FLY! - also credited his work axiom to this same success principle, but he attributed it to an ancient Hindu scripture known as Bhagavad Gita.]

I am certainly gratified to note that Napoleon Hill's work had casted so much influence on - & empowered - so many people in the world, including myself.

Many of the self help books today are like fast food. Made for easy consumption.

I guess that is why The Law of Success was such a pleasant surprise. It has some real meat to it. So much so that it has taken me three weeks to digest just the first two volumes of material on the 17 Laws that are presented in the first two installments.

This volume covers the first four lessons of the 17 principles that make up The Law of Success.

Self-Mastery is engaging enough to make me continue on to volume II as well as order volumes 3 & 4. Hard to believe it was written so long ago but yet is STILL so relevant to today's business environment.

The 4 questions on Definiteness of Purpose were the best part. They are as follows:

1. Have you decided upon a definite goal in life?

2. Have you set a date for reaching that goal?

3. Do you have a specific plan for achieving your goal in life?

4. Have you determined what definite benefits your goal in life will bring you?

This book was written over 80 years ago, but still holds up well. I will issue a warning that much of the content is considered New Age, even by todays standards. I imagine back in the 1920s they must have thought that Napoleon Hill was a lunatic. The book is far superior to its sequel, Think and Grow Rich. The book is divided into 15 easy to digest lessons. Hill tends to meander within the lessons (e.g. he sometimes does not get to the actual topic of each lesson until about half-way through) and sometimes leaves you wondering why he titled the lessons the way he did, but the material is very useful. The lessons on Self-Control and Doing More Than What You Are Paid For are worth the price of the book. Recommended for anyone that wants to put together a personal plan for success.

While Robbins does his theatrics, Napoleon Hill was a man of humble beginnings and great intellectual depth. What makes this book so important is not the amount of money people make after reading it. The depth of your soul's growth can never be measured. One dark night, I found Think and Grow Rich in the desk drawer of a man who had just retired and left the book there. I'll never be the same. Reading Law of Success gives the background and foundation of what Napoleon Hill went through, interviewing successful people for 20 years without any financial backing and the struggle that became worth it to him.

You'll love reading this book. It will change the way you see your world, if you're willing to open your heart to it.

Forget all the other so-called self-help prophets. Napoleon Hill was the real thing. Imagine sitting across the table from Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, William Wrigley, or Henry Ford as they tell you the struggles that enabled them to give so much to the world. All I can say is besides the Bible, Hill's books and especially this one, saved my life.

This book is by far one of the best purchases I've ever made. This book not only teaches you valuable lessons about life, but allows you to break yourself down to the building blocks that make you up and reevaluate yourself. If you're wondering about the time frame that it was written in making it irrelevant in some cases, the answer is no. It is still incredibly relevant. The only information that may seem out dated are dollar figures and references to things like World War I, which at the time the book was written happened practically yesterday.

I am currently finishing up the 15th lesson now and as soon as I finish the book I plan to start over and read it again. I just generally enjoy this book and I have a feeling I'll learn just as much from it the second time around.

I've bought numerous items from the store for many years and this is the first review I've ever written. That's how much I like this book. Everyone should buy it.

Like most people I bought Think & Grow Rich along with several other business and positive mind books. A leader in a company that I was associated with suggested The Law of Success. He warned me that it would be a lot of reading. At that time it was two hard back copies, beautifully bound.
I asked him if the books helped him. He told me that this set helped him achieve a level of success that was previously unattainable to him. And he told me that this series was much more complete than Think & Grow Rich---it was like attending class. Transcripts from actual Napolean Hill lectures.
I found that like Rich, these books helped me to go to levels that I could never reach before as well. Think & Grow Rich planted the seeds and got my interest as well as offered powerful strategies. This 2 book set helped make more sense of the principles, tied things together.
The other Hill book that I strongly recommend is Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude. I know that even in todays world, some people bicker at the positive mind books...but guess what? They work! Everyone I know who has achieved any level of success attributes that success to books like these.
I know they sure have helped me.

As you begin to read the book you sense a familiarity with the subject matter. Almost as though you heard the story before. Quickly you realize you're experiencing the original story.
Napoleon Hill was originally responsible for finding the common traits between the world's most successful people. Andrew Carnegie "suggested" this idea to Mr. Hill. As a condition of employment Mr. Hill would have to perform the work without pay. He would have to earn money some other way. Mr. Carnegie helped by providing letters of introduction to some of the world's most successful people.
Nearly every book written sine this time has used these same principles with new faces.
Get the straight dope from the source. Start with this book.
Thank you Paul McManus for buying me the most important book I've read.

Napoleon Hill was commissioned by the richest man in the world at the time, Andrew Carnegie, to create an economic philosophy. Carnegie said philosophers had concentrated on morals, and there were plenty of moral philosophies, but not one economic philosophy, and it was a shame. Every person who had risen from poverty to wealth had to do it on his own, learning from the brutal (and slow) trial-and-error method. Carnegie thought that was wrong, and he challenged Napoleon Hill to correct it.
Carnegie then gave Hill letters of introduction to the most successful men of the time: Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, F. W. Woolworth, William Wrigley Jr., etc. Hill interviewed (and in some cases LIVED WITH) over five hundred extremely successful people, many of whom you have heard about, to discover what philosophy they used in succeeding. After twenty years of this kind of research, he created an adult education program. The writings for that program were eventually bound into eight volumes, and now they are all bound into one giant book. It's great. I'm the author of the book, Self-Help Stuff That Works, and I know from personal experience that the principles Hill writes about WORK! And he is fun to read.

At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of this book, but the volume is a huge resource of information and lessons. I have been researching, writing and teaching for the past year on inspiration, success, creativity and goal setting and this book is a useful tool and excellent affirmation of things that others have used to accomplish their goals and great things in life.

I highly recommend this book if you are looking for something to inspire and motivate you, but I do caution that you must really dedicate yourself to apply the principles. Improving your life means to start to investigate what is wrong with it and what you can improve. Finding out what is working and then changing and replacing your habits with better ones. The environment and thoughts you have really do determine your actions and this book can be an excellent first step to helping many people get out of a rut and into a better life.

I read all the reviews on the store about this product and did other research besides. It was highly recommended by someone whose judgment I respected (Kevin Trudeau), who indicated it contained vital information that was missing from Think and Grow Rich. Hence, I eagerly anticipated listening to this unabridged version of Napoleon Hill's The Law of Success in 16 Lessons (the BN Publishing version).

I was extremely disappointed for several reasons, the first being the quality of reading of the information. I listened to all 21 hours or so but could not stand to listen a second time through (though my practice is to listen to educational things over and over and over to really let them sink in). Besides the poor reading, there is nothing new here, nothing that readers of this type of self-help literature haven't heard from a variety of other sources.

Here are some of the mistakes from the first few hours of listening to this audio book that made it really tough for me to continue listening:

Clergy (clergyman) sounds like cler' ghee - the g sounds like g in gutter (or "ghee" which is a clarified butter product) instead of the proper "j" sound - found many times.

Pontius Pilate should not be pronounced pon' teus pill ate' - I just about stopped listening after that one.

Antagonostic should be antagonistic - even if Hill couldn't spell, the reader should have corrected it so as not to sound like an idiot.

Who in America has not heard of the Armour Meat Packing Company? How about arm' wahr which is how it is pronounced on this CD? Five times in the first few hours. When I heard arm' wahr mentioned it distracted me because I'd always wonder, "Is this the meat packer guy?" I think language is good for one thing and one thing only - effective communication. arm' wahr is a great way to say the name if you are speaking French (I suppose?), but the language of America is English, the American version. It ain't not for nuthin' that we pronounce it arm' er.

"2 times 3 are 6" should have been "2 times 3 IS 6". For sure. What is the rule? Subject of the predicate is singular so the predicate must also be - or some such thing from the THIRD GRADE.

Various and sundry - sundry should be pronounced sun' dree, not sun' dry - found twice early on and several more times later.

Lying the foundation should be laying the foundation.

Secretarianism should be sectariansim - found twice.

Stenographer should NOT be pronounced as sten' oh graffer but rather sten ah' gruff er'.

It goes on and on, but my personal favorite is Socrates which the reader pronounces as "so crate' eez", though I thought pon' teus pill ate' was a hoot, too.

It continues on Disc 2 with my favorite being cont' igin (both letters I sound like the I in "it".) The actual word was contagion which should be pronounced as con tay' gin. It was mispronounced 3 times in about two minutes. The fourth time he got it right. I don't know about you, but personally I would have recorded over the mistaken sections if for no other reasons than I would want to do an excellent job. If I believed this was truly a great work (personally I don't think it is any longer compared to the "imitators"), or even a piece of absolute trash, there's no way that I would allow for any mistakes.

Even if Hill made the above mistakes himself in print, the reader of the audio book should have corrected them. Failing that, the reader's EDITOR certainly should have said, "Whoa, fella! Hold up a minute. We need the King's English here because this is a Classic, a Great Work which deserves to be presented in the very best way possible. We want to do a quality job here." Apparently the reader and his editor didn't really feel that Hill's book was worthy of their best. Did this CD set even HAVE an editor?

As I said initially, I bought this thing upon the recommendation of Kevin Trudeau. He said it was first on his recommended reading / listening list because it contains "gems" which no other publication has, information that Hill was forced to take out of Think and Grow Rich because it was so effective that the rich guys didn't want to share it. If that was true, why would they agree to be interviewed in the first place? If they were that dumb to let the cat out of bag, why do we want their "secrets"? As I went through this I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for a voice to come down out of Heaven and enlighten me with Great Wisdom, but, alas, all kept hearing was a repetition of things, none of which are "new", none of which are "secrets", none of which you can't get much more easily in other CDs or books.

I've been reading self help books for over 50 years. I love to read them over and over. This is the worst self-help book I have ever read or listened to.

Hill's claim to fame was that he had distilled down the Wisdom of all the great moneymakers of the late 19th century, that he had interviewed all these folks over the space of 20 years after being given an intro by Carnegie to each of them, his "buddies". I was disappointed to hear during the first part of the reading that most of The Law of Success in 16 Lessons was drawn from Henry Ford. Hill made it sound like he had a fixation on Ford, that he was such a genius, a man for the ages, beyond compare. From what I read elsewhere (including a biography of Ford), he had a good product at a cheap price at the right time. Ford was smart but also he had a confluence of fortuitous circumstances, "A Series of Fortunate Events" (great title for a movie). If Ford was head to head with Toyota today, he likely would not look quite so smart. I was expecting a large variety of ideas from a variety of the world's most successful men - not just ONE smart man.

Recommendation: There is much to be learned and so little time, so don't waste it on this bloated tome that is so painful to listen to if you are literate and have respect for the English language. Read the much shorter Think and Grow Rich. You won't miss a thing.

Whatever you think about "self-help or self-improvement teachings" which may be prejudiced by the presentations of present day "gurus," you can't dismiss the scientific, analytical, documentation process of 20 years that Hill employed to develop his treatis with the collaborations of some of the best minds that have ever lived on planet earth. It deserves respect and serious consideration.

I first read "Think and Grow Rich" years ago. This is written by the same author, Napoleon Hill. I re-read this book because I always learn something new. I learned again that enthusiasm is one of the key elements in selling, as well as being likable. I took these for granted, but now I consciously apply these principles. The biggest factor in my performance was self control. Again, Hill reminded me to not lose control when someone doesn't buy.
Most salesmen, when you want to think it over, get rattled and get nasty. This book is extremely worthwhile, loaded with good advice and true stories.

There are a few books (and fewer authors) that should be added to your "MUST READ immediately" list. There is a certain awareness that one must possess to acomplish any great thing in life. Unless you are one of the rare people who come to this awareness by "luck", studying is the best way to expose yourself to an entry point. Books like this along with something like God: Six Weeks to Spirituality and The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment will get you started in the right direction! :)

I'm sure there was some good advice in the book, but I couldn't abide the writing style. Every bit of advice is oversold as a Universal Law caused by Hitherto Unknown Physical Phenomena!!! I made it through 50 pages before throwing the books away.

Although written prior to Napoleon Hill's trademark of Think and Grow Rich, it incorporates all the the authors philosophy in an expanded form... That said, it is an original work with many insights and fhoughts not found in Think and Grow Rich. The only downside is it's length, approximately 1,100 pages. If you are a student of Napoleon Hill, you will find it well worth your time and effort you will spend studying it's precepts.

Napoleon Hill's masterful 16 point blueprint for success is perhaps the most comprehensive study on the subject I've ever read. The years of research certainly paid huge dividends; it's a formula for success that reminds me of the way an old employer's founding father used to go about his business.

The company---Enterprise Rent-a-Car; the great founding father---Jack C Taylor. He created the largest & most successful car rental company in the world & I'd be willing to bet, Mr Taylor read this great book. He certainly follows the blueprint for success, that's for sure.

Anyone reading this book will forge a more successful path for themselves; that's a very safe prediction.

I saw some people say: Beware, the complete version should have 1000+ pages. You can actually get the real complete and unabridged pdf version for free here:: [...]. Once you compare that and this book you can see that this is the complete version, as far as I can tell, it just has smaller print, which is kinda annoying but it save you some money! Amazing book, I would qualify it as life changing, if you let it. A must read for every human being.

This is a crappy, text-only version of the book that you can get online for free at archive.org

There has been absolutely no editing of this huge book done in order to make it readable. Paragraphs are broken, OCR typo's are uncorrected, etc.

If you want the real deal, go to archive.org and search for "Law of Success".

Just to set the record straight Napoleon Hill only wrote the following books.
1919-1920
"The Golden Rule Magazine"
Napoleon Hill edited and published
1928
"Law of Success"
published (Ralston Society, Publishers)
1930
"The Magic Ladder to Success"
1937
"Think and Grow Rich"
1939
"How to Sell Your Way Through Life"
1953
"How to Raise Your Own Salary"
1960
"Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude"
1970
"You Can Work Your Own Miracles"

All other books were either compiled by others or used his notes to write the books, he himself did not write them, period. I have been studying his works for 15 years. Yes, I am rich from studying his works.
As with any revision there will always be some critics, the original LOS contained only 15 laws, I have seen the original set with my own eyes, again the authors are correct.
Some of the things in this book could have been done differently as with all revisions, however they did their best to remain true to the spirit of the book...
I purchased the huge paperback and enjoyed the little notes they added, some of them could have gone a little deeper, but no biggie.
Ideally, in a perfect world it would be perfect. Keep in mind they worked with a lot of people who all had to agree on these things.

This is the most incredible book I have ever read on the subject of personal growth and achievement. The way Hill writes takes a little getting used to, but after reading it a very short time anyone can understand him. This book is a total eye opener to how the most successful people of this and any time period think. He also gives very detailed "HOW TO" information for each of his Success Principles. This book was written in the 1930's but the information is more relevant than ever. A MUST READ for anyone wanting to succeed in any endeavor. TEN STARS!!!

I must admit this is one of the greatest books written on business. I applied a few of the teachings and recieved a 12% salary increase after just one year of employement, our normal salary increase is 4%. The teachings work I was able to direct positive attention to myself at all times. Clients kept noticing me and informing upper managenmet of the great customer service I provide to the point upper management became tired of hearing it. I must admit if you apply the teachings you will develop jealously among fellow co-workers however upper mangement will like the fact you are pleasing the clients but deep down may not care for you on a personal level. The key teachings which worked for me are. 1) Always Do More Then Paid For - Arriving early to work espically before the boss will impress him / her but may anger him or her as well. The key in this teaching is to show you're dedication to the job. No boss wants a lower level employee arriving to work before he or she, but this teaching if you apply it will increase your salary 2) A Pleasing Personality - Act kindly to your customer is the key to good business espically if you are well dressed. Women dig a well dressed man and are like putty in your hand once you smooth on the charm they will surely buy your product. 3) Imagination- If you come up with creative and funny emails it will put a smile on a fellow employee's face and help them make it during a hard week a good email which offers something to your fellow co-workers like a snack will win you favor in the office. 4) The Habbit of Saving - If you save at laest 20% of your salary and do no appear as if you need the job but the job needs you will make you more money in the longrun. When upper managent thinks you're doing well you can demand more money then if it appears like you need the job to make ends meat 5. The Golden Rule / Giving - I find that when I gave something to my fellow employees snacks, food you get the idea and did not seek reinbursement from management good things kept comming my way. Many people do not care for co-workers but doing acts of kindness to fellow employees will remain in the minds of upper management and cause them to act kindly during your review period for a pay increase.

I could not get past the first section. Boring and Godless. There are probably a few good action steps later in the book but I can get a lot more from other writers that recognize that God, not "Nature", is the source of all good things.

Since the movies The Secret and What the Bleep Do We Know, there has been a lot of talk about the Law of Attraction, creating your reality and such. This book is the grand-father of them all. If you want to hear it from the horse's mouth, and the man who also wrote Think And Grow Rich, this is the Bible of the Law of Attraction. At 17 lessons and a few hundred pages, you can't get more detailed than that. A fantastic book, easy to read, with lots of examples. Of course, it's dated, written in 1917. But it's still current today, and very readable. Dr Magne, Cancer Free For Life

I found this title highly informative and motivating. The lessons and supportive arguments constantly remind you of the author's primary message.

The presentation is easy to follow. Overall, it is a great book.

The major challenge with this title is the level of repetition you may observe. Probably for emphasis, major points are repeated time and again. This may cause you to quickly flip through some of the pages. The repetitions also had the effect of making the points communicated rather diffuse.

These drawbacks however are unlikely to prevent assimilation of the valuable truths proffered in this book.

Napoleon Hill was one of the early self help writers, coming somewhere between Orison Swett Marden and Dale Carnegie. This book analyses the lifestyle and approach of some of America's most successful men of the time, eg, Henry Ford, and breaks down their successes into 16 rules for living.

It's a really good book and well worth a read. My only problems with it were:

1. Some of the ideas in the book are somewhat cranky to modern eyes. Mr Hill has a particular fixation with telepathy and enemas, for some reason. The book is not new age mumbo jumbo or unscientific in any way - it's just that at the time of writing, telepathy was thought to be a scientific possibility.

2. The illustrations referred to were not included in the Kindle edition.

3. This is a business book, and set in a time when material success was considered the be all and end all of life. Mr Hill does touch on the deeper meanings of life, but the book does seem to assume that rich = happy, which sadly isn't always true.

4. Mr Hill WRITES IN CAPITAL LETTERS A LOT!

5. There's a fair bit of repetition and long-windedness; I felt it could have been edited down quite a lot. This is partly the style of the time, but other writers in the old days (eg, Orison Swett Marden) were more concise.

Although written in the first quarter of the century, this book is still applicable. I constantly read and listen to motivation/success books and tapes, and this is the best I've read yet. I am striving to become a motivational speaker and writer, but, after reading this book I have to question my own abilitity. Sometimes it seems to me that everything pertaining to success has already been written, but I know there is always room for top-notch success teachers and movers. As Napoleon Hill states in Law of Success "I know your weaknesses because I know my own. It has required the better part of 25 years of ups and downs-mostly downs--to impress these basic truths upon my own mind so that they influenced me. I have tried both them and their opposites; therefore, I can speak, not as one who merely believes in their soundness, but as one who knows."

julie mcelhaney
The introduction is almost 200 pages and the author drones on and on about telepathy, the second chapter spends the first 35 pages bloviating about the topic on the introduction not the topic of the chapter.

Honestly half of the book is just the author blabbering on and on without getting to any point about what he wants you to know.

I believe the principles are solid but the amount of suffering you go through to actually get to them is laborious and there are many other books or speakers that can help in goal achievement without wasting so much of your time.

He constantly refers to himself in the third person which is annoying and not easy to read.

Read the name of the chapter and you will know what it is suppose to be about but not how to bring it about in your life.

Read this book only if you don't mind wasting your time and want to get the information in the least efficient manner possible.

Quick scheme abound these days. It is NOT what Napoleon Hill offers. He studied some 500 successful people and some 25,000 "failures" for about 20 years, before writing The Law of Success. It was not born in a weekend seminar, but in real life experience. What you will find in this book is true and tested character training for and by successful people. I highly recommend it. I bought this book hoping to find Napoleon Hill's MasterMind course. I have it in my hands. Because it was originally published in 1928 the wording is a bit flowery, but the guts of what he has to say has been proven over and over again since he wrote it down. Wonderfully written with many examples, clear explanations, inspiring each of us to do Better than before with the information he shares with us. 'Wealth' is possible when any one applies the basic rules he lays out - physically, financially, etc.

If you've read many self-help or business books you'll find that most of the themes are derived from those set out in Napoleon Hill's Law of Success. This 1000 page tomb eclipses all other self-books I've read including those from Robbins and Covey. Covey and Robbins both credit their work has been influenced by Napoleon Hill's Law of Success.
The most interesting thing about this particular edition is that the editor has added comments to modernize the content and has also included dozens of recommended books that should be read to supplement the reading, among which are works by Covey and Robbins.
Also of interest is the 12 hours of lecture from the author himself from the 50's teaching his students at the time on each of his laws of success (Your Right to be Rich).
Purchase this book as well as the 12 hour CD set 'Your Right to be Rich' and you just might catch a sliver of the success that Robbins and Covey have had by modernizing their own interpretation of this reference in your own field of endeavor.

In reguards to the comment about this book being too long: First, this book (the original which is the 16 lessons version) was out about 10 yrs before "think and grow rich". Second, and more importantly, the depth of this book is essential to living life the way you want to live it. Not just because you want a few good ideas in your head for a couple days only to be forgotten a month later.
For example, what lasts longer: a puddle of water, or an ocean? Of course an ocean. A puddle dries up quickly because it has limited substance. On the other hand, an ocean withstands the droughts.
This is a book for the person who is truly dedicated to the next level. A level of true achievement and freedom the "downers" in life. If your just looking for an interesting read, than purchase think and grow rich.

Laws Of Success
This book is a must read if you want to do anything worthwhile; while you here on this planet!
It sucks that most personal motivators today, such as Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, and men of the like, are taking all the credit for this book. Yea! They mention the man (Napoleon Hill) for his finds but they take the credit for being responsible for such a book available. I learned more from this book about this life and chemistry of every person and thing alive on this planet, from plant life, to animal life, than all my years in school classrooms.
High school students, College students, trade school students, people out there searching for their identities if you are, or have been raised in this world in a poor, or low middle class environment, the only real chance you have in this life is to get your hands on this book. While many people out there are trying to screw you of your belongings, such as money, reputation, self control and other personal possessions, this book will guide you through a hard core situation such as; depression, self control overeating, drug abuse, and all of the bad habits we acquire here on this planet, from TV commercials and Radio commercials and some bad influential so called friends.
Big companies spend millions of dollars on paid advertisement because they have read this book from cover, to cover and over and over and now they are using it against you.
I can almost guarantee you that a lot of big companies such as Mc Donald's, Starbucks and companies alike, have mastered this mans philosophy and now they are using against you to get you to spend all of your money on their over priced service. I would put my life on the fact that McDonald's took this mans writings and used it against parents by building a small playground in their restaurant so the parents can eat while the kids are safe playing. This is an idea that has been written by this man because I read it in the page of this book and McDonald's has been using it to fatten people up for two or three decades now.
This book will tell you how someone's last five hundred dollars paid for a simple chemistry ingredients that produced Coca Cola. And now it has become a great support of jobs for so many. I learned more about this Country's freedom from this book than every History book I passed by when going to school. Learned about Autosuggestion, the number one agency to getting anything you want by applying this formula to your daily prayers. Learn about how some Doctors are keeping the fear of Ill health in the hearts and minds of millions of people for their pocket book.
Find out how to use a mastermind alliance for your only true success if things seem helpless today. Know that all big companies today have mastered the law of this idea called mastermind alliance and that's how they are becoming Giants through a mastermind merge. This was the first man to describe the philosophy of a mastermind alliance. First time heard through the words spoken by Andrew Carnegie. Know that a positive and mental attitude is only one of seventeen principles of true success. "Yea! You hear about having a positive and mental attitude by other Authors. But those Authors don't tell you the rest of the principles and how to apply them successfully. Learn about why is it that every application you fill out, has the question of how much is in your savings account???
Napoleon Hill describes how a simple habit of saving five or ten dollars a week can add to substantial amounts and not in money alone, but! In other areas of your life. Through good or bad habits you build definite life style. How are your habits?
This is where the term The Golden Rule became produced through building facts, upon facts, and other people's trial and error. Know how important it is to have a definite chief aim in life and how to build a burning desire to acquire it's final destination. How to apply the habit of going the extra mile, when people today don't even want to go the first mile.
Self-confidence? One must have this formula to succeed in anything, But here Napoleon Hill doesn't only tell you one must have this ingredient, he tells how to apply this by an autosuggestion formula that you must write down and than read it everyday again and again, until this formula becomes the burning desire that will work for you day and night through a metaphor that a lot of people want you to believe does not exist but it does and that my friend is ETHER! What is ether? (Look it up in your dictionary) This book will explain it to you how it works on humans, but only after your mind has been opened to accept such a formula.
It is a formula you cannot see, it is a formula you cannot touch, taste, feel, or smell, it is a formula that if you learn to believe in it, will protect you through an agency indescribable. And know that everything that you do bad or good will come back to you many times over. Sometimes the get back waits until it has time to build and all of as sudden there it is, smacking you right in the face of reality. "So you better be good for goodness sake!"
Reading this book alone will not manifest a thing until it is applied and used accordingly. I have proofed this man's writings to be true because I am applying the formulas to my life now and so have a lot of other people. Who am I, to disagree with them? "IT AINT NO FREE RIDE BUT IT'S WORKING!" FIND THIS BOOK AND GO GET IT!

There are many books and seminars out there that teach the principles presented in this book. Even the popular 'The Secret' DVD/book is based on Hill's teachings. EVERY big-time motivational speaker out there (e.g., Anthony Robbins, Jack Canfield, etc) have referenced Napoleon Hill to death as his work was based on the most comprehensive success research (still) to date. Napoleon Hill, who was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie (the first known billionaire/previous richest man in the world) spent 20 years researching the wealthiest minds. The end result was his "Laws of Success". That is probably why every motivational speaker out there references Hill's work. To date, there is probably no other book/media that has inspired more millionaires and billionaires to achieve great success. I liked this revised edition of Hill's work as it presents modern-day examples and gentle revisions that still maintain the integrity of Hill's work. Whether you are looking to purchase this book, or "Think and Grow Rich", you won't be disappointed.

Although this is a great book, Napoleon Hill's Original "law of Success" is not this 1928 "Edited" version... While you can learn so much from this version, Hill's UNALTERED writing is the 1925 version taken directly from his "manuscript lessons" The 1925 Law of Success was "before" publishing editors got hold of Hill's work and is the true Original...The 1925 Law of Success is also the very text that was sent to Thomas Edison and a few other greats which was allowed to read the work unaltered.

Some guy back in 2008 brought the only known set of "1925 manuscript lessons" out of his massive rare success collection, obtained the rights to publish it and brought it to the market for the literacy of the lost piece.
Sadly the Hill Foundation has openly slammed this amazing piece because they are not getting a "cut" of the money from it...But then what do you expect when the Napoleon Hill family has lost "all" control of the Foundation to ex-employees and in-laws... Napoleon Hill would turn over in his grave...

Thankfully there are people discovering Hill's true works and continue to enjoy the complete and unaltered writings of Napoleon Hill!

"...you will attract to you people who harmonize with your own philosophy of life, whether you wish it or not." ~ pg. 79

Napoleon Hill's classic "The Law of Success" is still very valid even in our modern society. While he was born in 1883 he had some very new age ideas. The section on the "master mind" reminds me of what we may recognize as the collective unconscious. He also talks about a day arriving where people will speak to each other telepathically. I've had experiences where I've heard (in my own mind) what someone is about to say. One time it happened when I was at a cash register and I heard (in my own mind) the amount of the transaction before the cashier said it. I can't say why this happens to me but I've heard it happens to a lot of people so it might be normal.

I was surprised by this book because I'm using many of the principles when I'm reviewing but not as many in my "real" life. I have a "definite chief aim" in reviewing but I lack one when it comes to my real job. Napoleon Hill talks about self-confidence, the habit of saving, initiative, leadership, persistence, imagination, enthusiasm, self-control, doing more than you are paid for, developing a pleasing personality, learning to concentrate, dealing with failure, tolerance and living by the golden rule.

This book is extremely well organized although there are so many examples for each idea that it can become a little overwhelming. It is 600 pages so it is not a book you can easily read in an afternoon or evening. It takes perseverance to get through it but your effort will be rewarded. By reading through each chapter carefully you somehow start to cement the ideas in your mind.

While I agreed with almost everything in this book - it is all very logical, I can say that Napoleon Hill must not have been introduced to the idea of near-death experiences. He claims that there is no way anyone can possibly know about a heaven or hell. Although he also says that he looks forward to heaven as a place where there is no discrimination.

The most convincing argument in the entire book is about saving money. In this way you have money to spend when a new idea enters your mind. As Napoleon Hill says: "There is always plenty of capital for those who can create practical plans for using it." So maybe you don't always need to earn the money to earn the right to use it for a good cause. Still it is a good idea to start saving so you can become financially independent.

In the end this book helped me to see where I'm going wrong and what to do about it. While reading this book you may want to write down all your original ideas that percolate to the surface. Now I just have to figure out my "definite chief aim" for the real world.

This is not the best kindle version even though its true copy. There are no links to the each 16 lessons and also the original page numbers are everywhere throughout the text. If you want a good true version kindle copy, search the store for the law of success in 16 lessons with toc.

I'm amazed and very satisfied with this book. It is very clear that this man lived only in heavenly places as the Bible puts it. He received wisdom and insights from yonder. Napoleon Hill is among the greatest who ever walked this earth.

In one word: inspirational.

It is more motivational than most self-help books out there. Hill gives the basics in a clear language, there's no doubt what you should do next to move ahead.

This is not for the practical seeker - it's for those who need that push to action. And, unfortunately, as we look at the world today - most of us need that push.

I have read over 800 books in my life so far and most of them of high quality. Even so I would only recommend about 20 or so of them. But this set of books takes spot number one. If you only will read two books - make it these two!

This set of books contains real secrets to generate wealth - what is taught in them is working for me!

Every person who want to get anything out of life should spend the 20 hours or so it will take to read these books! You will NEVER regret it.

This is a truly outstanding book. However, if you wish to read ANY of Napolean Hill's work stay away from anything published by Highroads Media. What they did in both Law of Success and Think and Grow Rich is change the text to the way they think it should read. The changes made to both books are obvious and definately change the meaning of the books. Stay away from any work published by these people and opt to find editions that are true to the original text.

This was the worse experience I have ever received since shopping with the store. I have written the vender several times and have never heard back from them once. I never received the product that I ordered. I needed this product last month. I was instructed by the store to wait this entire time for nothing. And people wonder why this country is going down the drain. There is no such vender named: MBTextbooks

This is a necessity if you are a serious about becoming a success. This book helps you define what success is. You should read this book, then read it again, then again the 3rd time. After which you should get the CD's and play them 3 times until every once is instilled into your brain. I know without a doubt, if your serious, if your determined to be more and have more than you have right now...Napeleon Hill and his Laws of Success will do the trick...Absolutely Wonderful!. You must have patience because it is a thick book. Every step is detailed and outlined. Once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down.

I was a young, single mother headed who knows where. After reading this masterpiece in less than a year I had direction. In 5 years I had accomplished goals, and now I run my own company and am contributing to the world a worthwhile service.

When I first read this book I felt bad for not having come across a jem like this during my formative years.Unlike many books which preach good values in an abstract way, this book provides specific practical techniques for practicing them in a day to day life. What is even more attractive is the gaurantee of tangible benefits to the practitioner if one follows these rules genuinely. No one can claim he is less fortunate in life if he has read this book. What a masterpiece from the contemporary of Ford and Edisson!

I think this book is a complete guide to be a succesful person. I read the former review and i disagree. Napoleon Hill interviewed the people who had the most impact of the world at that time, Ford(Ford automobile), Edison(Inventor of the light bulb, battery), Gandhi etc. Then he wrote this book about how they thought and acted, and he describes how we can think and act to make the world better. In my opinion one of the main messages of the bible is to make the world a better place for all of us, so i think the law of success and the bible at least have that in common. The book is about 1200 pages long. I think it is well worth the price.

These are the Original principles of success that were culled from the lives of men like Carnegie, Edison, Ford and others. Read this and then go and read the biographies of the examples given before you apply them, and see for yourself that these work. There is no clever packaging, nor metaphysical/New Age sounding rhetoric, just sound advice. Forget the current watered down fad. This is the first and still the best.

Those who are familiar with Napoleon Hill's work know that the techniques in his books were proven to work before the books were even written. As Hill has said himself, failure is not even an option to those who follow the techniques persistently.
I don't think it would be possible to write a good self-help book without repeating at least one of the techniques outlined in Hill's books. That's probably why I find that most other self-help books do just that - and usually in a redundant and/or confusing way.
If you're willing to be open-minded and - again, persistent - your best bet would probably be to go with Napoleon Hill - the original self-help author as far as I'm concerned.
Also, it is my belief that the techniques can be adapted and used by intelligent followers of any faith.

Napoleon Hill has time honored wisdom. This book has information that anyone can use....you just have to put it into practice. Even though the book is huge, the results from really "working" this book can be enormous.
This is a must read for anyone who aspires to be more or to reach the next level. This particular edition not only has Mr. Hill's ideas in times past, it has up-to-date information for today's world.

I've read close to 600 books in my career and this has to be by far the best self help book I've ever read. It's like the Bible of self help books where you can't only read it once. You get something new each time you read it.

If you've read Think and Grow Rich, which millions of people have, this is the book to take what you've learned to the next level. Well organized and in depth, with the foundation you've gotten from Think and Grow Rich, you'll find it a interesting and quick read, even though it's a long one.

This book is great for anybody interested in building a success mindset, but if you haven't read TAGR, you'll get 10x more out of this book if you start there first.

The concepts in this book were the one's that the author used to compile "Think and Grow Rich". Buy this book if you are an avid fan of the concepts and principles of success and want to read them in a slightly different format and organization. Otherwise, you can get basically the same information from the compiled book mentioned earlier.

The scan is OK but no great. An error every few pages. The intro is obviuosly written by someone for whom English is not their native language. Looks like it was run through a translation program.

This review is about the edition not the book content.

I just received my copy a couple of weeks ago. Part of an assignment for my mentoring group was to gather with a group and read the first lesson aloud. I was stopped several times during my reading because my version read differently than the versions of several others (their versions were from the Napoleon Hill Institute) I soon began to see a trend: It seems that BN Publishing has seen fit to remove every reference to Jesus Christ in their "complete & unabridged" single volume. So, do not expect to read all of the author's words in this volume. Napoleon Hill has been censored.

...Damn, I bought this book because a friend of mines informed me that Napolean Hill had written this book BEFORE Think and Grow Rich, and that it contained the original blue print to Money and Success. OK, he was right, it does...BUT so do THINK and GROW RICH! I gave the book a 3 star rating because the information is contained in several of Napolean Hill's writings. The book comes in a 2 volume set and is well worth the money ($19.95) for both volumes. The book contains scores of life lessons and examples, and will take some time to read. I will not recommed this book if you have THINK AND GROW RICH or THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH by Wallace D. Wattles...... (BOTH BOOKS ARE ALL YOU NEED FOR SUCCESS and MONEY) Everything else from any contemporay auther is Plagarism...Both Books were published in the early 1920's.

My partner, who has amassed close to a billion dollars as a serial Internet entrepreneur, lists this book as one of his primary inspirations. Having looked through a copy of it, I have ordered my own copy. I am looking forward to going through it in detail. I'll update my review once I've had a chance. It appears that another high roller (Andrew Carnegie) commissioned Mr. Hill to find out what made people successful, and provided any resources required to find out. Looks to me like Andrew got his money's worth. You can get those answers for a lot less $$$. I have recently launched my own venture, and need to know what has allowed my partner to be so successful previously.

This book has profound, timeless and ageless information that is applicable across cultures for every one with the DESIRE and will to succeed. It cuts at the core of human behavior and shows that very little changed in terms of human behavior overtime. This is a MUST have book for everone who wants to succeed big time.

Full of great information but, it is a little hard to follow the writing style. Seems to repeat a lot of the information, however, I beleive this was done on purpose to drive home the important points
