This was more than a paranormal shifter story. The plot and characters were rich and the love deep. Faolin and Elana are two believable people who are caught up in a storm of intrigue and dark magick that want to pull them apart. The sex was meaningful well described without being overdone. I loved this book and will read the rest of the series!

Anyone who enjoys Scottish highland love stories, with a bit of 'magick' to go with it,will LOVE this book!
It has scenes that excite you, make you laugh, fall in love yourself with the characters, and even brawl your eyes out. Yet thru it all, you become enraptured within the great world Laura Harner creates in this book, all the while making you yearn for more!

This is truly a paranormal, romance, and mystery all in one. You get engrossed from the beginning through the end. I chose the book for the storyline and gave it an excellent rating because the authors are very knowledgeable about the subject matter. It was written being very believable and I would recommend it to anyone looking for adventure.

I have enjoyed each character in the series, these series have kept me on the edge of my seat. Waiting to turn each page to see where the author will lead me next. Will it be the 14 century or the 21st, I am embedded as the scenes unfold. Can't wait to read the next book in this series

Enthralling from first page to last. A lot of character interactions, but I was still able to keep the good characters separated from the bad. This is a deep story, but not too deep for a reader of fairy magick books. Wasn't fond of abrupt ending but the surprise after that brought relief. I look forward to more from this author!

Interesting concept, dynamic male character; not as strong a female character as I would have liked; felt there were some missing pieces in the plot, jumping from one situation/scene to something else entirely. The plot got a little bogged down in the last quarter or so... still, a fairly enjoyable light read.

This is pretty much your standard bodice-ripper, with a little bit of supernatural plot mixed in for good measure. The word "shaft" is used very liberally, and the size of said shafts is always, of course, exceedingly above average. The female protagonists in the story are lawyers and law enforcement in their professional lives, which would lead one to conclude that they would possess at least a nominal amount of common sense and street smarts. However, given that this is your standard bodice-ripper, you would be wrong to arrive at such a conclusion. They are very much lacking in anything resembling common sense, and are, of course, not "complete" as women until they magically meet their brawny, oh-so-masculine male saviors. Oh, p.s., all the women are virgins, of course.
Not as trite and mind-numbingly repetitive as Fifty Shades of Grey, but comparable in the frequency of sexual encounters between characters so much so that it leaves you wondering if A) there is a secret supply of viagra stashed somewhere and B) how the female protagonists' lady parts have not fallen off from over use. The supernatural story line is actually original (that I am aware of), however, so I will give the author credit for that. In a literary world saturated with sexy vampires, soulful werewolves, and noble wizards, this plot line at least makes a good attempt at originality and for the most part succeeds (when there is an actual plot line other than just sex).
Overall, it is an entertaining read when you need a little brain candy and are in the mood for something that doesn't require a lot of deep thought. If you accept the stereotypes and predictability up front before starting the book, it is a lot easier to read. I am just glad I got the book on a freebie the store offer and did not actually pay for it, as that would have been a true tragedy.

This book gets right into the story, From the beginning of the book I was looking for the next page to see what had happened. Being that this was a free book, I wasn't sure if I would want to read the balance of the series. I purchased the other three immediately after this one.

to describe the pull this book has on you. Almost as if a spell is cast over you, compelling you to read it, feel it, love it. Sadly it ends leaving you wanting more, happily there is another. I can hardly wait to get the next one. I can even overlook the grammatical errors, and that is saying quite a lot coming from the "grammar nazi".

I was completely and pleasantly surprised. Highland Shift was good from the beginning. I thought it might be overly long but by the end I was disappointed that it was ending. The proofreader needs some help but other than that I enjoyed the story, the romance and the sex. Looking forward to the next book.

I choose this rating because I was surprised at how good the book was. I thought this book was about shifting in time to the highland of Scotland. I was surprised to find that it wasn't. The character's were believable and made me like them. I couldn't put this book down.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how very good this book is. Great story, characters, plot and action. It had mystery, suspense, romance, action . Shifters, Fae, Druids and highlanders make for a great combination.

Laura is obviously in a higher league than me, with an IQ well in the upper Mensa range. I had a hard time keeping up with the complexity of the mythology, the families, and the sexuality of the story. It seemed to go on forever, and then close abruptly, with too many loose ends....

I loved the story full of supernatural and hot steamy love scenes. I was drawn to the story I could not put it down. I love Elena and Faolan they had a complicated love story but they had to work together against all odds. I will read the other books in the series

This book allows you to believe dreams can come true if you only believe. I don't believe any part of the book is in any way possible but it provides a great escape and is hard to put down. Look forward to reading more like this. Thanks

Absolutely the finest paranormal adventure I have ever read. The author must have researched every thing ever written to piece the quilt of information for this novel. A bit too much sex for me, but I fast forwarded thru the erotic parts.

The tense plot keeps the reader turning the pages long into the night. The idea that this is the first in a series of books is a little disheartening but by the end of the book the reader is ready to go on to find out the rest of the story. A fun and quick read.

I started reading and except for small breaks I couldn't put it down. The more that I read the more i wished that I had a one way ticket to Scotland. I enjoyed the book enough that I have the other books saved on my wish list. Enjoy its a good read.

Laura Harner has written a book so convoluted and compelling that I cannot wait to read anything else she has written. Faolan and Elena have a magnetism that is irresistible. I want to find out where they go from here.

I've read shifter and paranormal romance novels forever. This one is truly exceptional. I laughed and cried at the beauty and sadness of it . And the perfect ending and the start of more books in this series.

and then got really irritated with the author putting Beltane as the first day of summer. Beltane is May first and not the start of summer. So, I ditched it at the point. The sex scenes were GREAT but too numerous and I had to give up.

Well if Druid history weren't enough to entertain you and keep you reading this powerful book, you always have shape shifting, Fae powers, steamy romance, intrigue, and so much drama that you just can't put the book down for a second.

A hot, Scot with a brogue good enough to make women swoon.
Magick, otherworldly things and the Fae all make for an interesting plot.
Warning! Too hot for the prudes.
But it got all a bit too much at the end.
Another ending would have been more believable.
