Jaws: A Novel

I received this book for my birthday prior to the movie's premiere. I enjoyed it and was one of the first books I've read more than once. Now I can "retire" the paperback edition and read it again without "dog-earing" the pages. Very happy.

The book was a darker more sinister outlook on the main characters than the movie. But it was a great read. I prefer the movie version. Usually the book is better than the movie but, for me, not this time.

I absolutely love the movie Jaws, I remember watching it as a little kid and being absolutely terrified. So I found out there was a book and I just had to read it. I must say reading the book was actually more terrifying than watching the movie. The attention to detail and getting the shark's perspective that Peter Benchley put on those pages made it so much more real. I gave it 5 stars because this was one book I couldn't put down and when I had too I most definitely couldn't wait to start up again.

This book arrived quickly, it was in good condition. But it is NOT printed with "First Edition" as described. It's also NOT the version in the picture with the original "shark" image that is shown in the photo (probably the sleeve, but missing anyway). From what I can see, it's either a book club version or perhaps a pirated copy - there are plenty of those around. But the price was OK, so I'll keep it. The owner of the business (called "sometimes") says that they have a perfect 5-star rating, and that they strive to be honest. I like that attitude and I was ready to give it 5 stars when it arrived so soon, but it just wasn't as described, yet still worth the fair price.
