The story Max the Mighty is about a big, humungus kid at age fourteen escapes his basement goes out and seeks the world. He also meets a new friend named Worm,
Worm is a person who loves to read books and never stops reading them. But one
day Max found Worm's evil stepfather, The Undertaker, abusing Worm's mom and
Max was forced to take Worm away. Along the way they meet a old bus driver by the name Dip. Dip gives them a ride along the way they encounter two more people who are running from the law enforcement. I think this story is good for all young adults.

Have you ever read a really exciting book, that when you read it you can't stop turning the page untill the end? Have your eyes ever get wide open when you read an exciting books? Have you ever felt sad when you read a book? That is what I have done on this book! It is such an excellent book to read, I loved it ever since I came to Chapter 2! It so sad though, that the Undertaker was so abusive to her and her mother. I almost cried and I just couldn't put the book down! Read this amazing book!! It is #1 on my list.

Now, after reading two books written by Rodman Philbrick. I have come to a conclusion that Rodman Philbrick is one of the best authors who write about friendship related stories. Rodman Philbrick probably expressed his childhood experiences with friends in his books.
I was recommended by my friend, to read the first book by Rodman Philbrick, Freak the Mighty. After reading that book I really started reading a lot of Rodman Philbrick books. Ex Last Book in the Universe . Freak the Mighty was a heart touching book. I was really connected to the book, as I had read few months after my uncle passed away.
I was introduced to the sequel of Freak the Mighty by a librarian at the local public library. At first I thought it was going to be a horrible book, as I proved the saying "don't judge a book by the cover," wrong. I read the title, Max the Mighty ,as I thought to myself sarcastically "what a creative title." As I read the first page I really liked it, it was the same old Max, "A big dude with a face like the moon and ears that stick out like radar scoops and humongous feet like the abdominal snowman"(P.1). Even though he is a big guy, he is a "real Weenie" (P1). This reminds me of myself. Like the Max I'm a fat, big guy but at heart I am like an elephant scared of an ant. I think this is leads to one of the themes that Rodman Philpbrick presents. Never judge anyone from the physical characteristics; you should always come to conclusions after you have spent time with them. The theme is supported by this because when Max meets Worm in the dark alleys, she is being bullied from these gangsters, and he rescues her from them. But Worm got scared of Max and runs away without thinking to understand him. Then when she meets him again at the park, they talked to each other and they elevate their friendship. Worm first thought that he was bully too, because of his size, but later in the story she uses him as a big brother to help her find her real father. Max and Worm run away from the abusive Undertaker, Worm's stepfather, and the police. Max wants to give Worm to her real father so that she can be safe, but Worm's father lives in Wyoming, which thousands miles away from where he and Worm lives. As Max and Worm travel in search to find Worm's father they encounter unusual people and they also reach Wyoming in weird transportations. To find the big secret that is revealed when they reach Wyoming, read this magnificent book.

This suspenseful, interesting, nail biting book was really fun to read. I really couldn't stop reading. I almost read this book in one sitting, it was that good. I recommend this book to any student in the grades from 8 to 10. People can learn a lot from this book.

This book is a great story of the friendship between Max, a kid who is very large for his age and is not too bright, and Rachel, also called "worm" because of her huge interest in reading. The story begins at Max's house, where he lives with his grandma and grandpa, who he calls Gram and Grim. The first couple chapters walk you through a normal day in his life. First, walking to school, trying to avoid hoodlums who live on "the wrong side of the tracks. In his classes, being made fun of for being so big and not being so smart. And lastly, taking the bus, where kids simply annoy and annoy him, even though he could easily beat them up. Then the story turns around and shows you Rachel's horrible home life. Her mom is constantly beaten by her stepfather, a tall, lean man with a heart of stone. When Max realizes this problem, he rescues her and they set off on a long and adventurous journey across the country to find her real dad, who is thought to live in Chivalry, Montana. And this journey has plenty of surprises along the way.
I really liked this book because I felt like I could relate to what some of the characters were going through.
I would highly recommend this book to any child or adult looking for a great story of friendship and determination. Also could be a good book to read along with your child.

The book Max the Mighty was an excellent book. There are awesome characters. There are some new characters like the Undertaker and a girl named Worm and some of the old characters from Freak the Mighty. The only thing missing in Max the Mighty : Freak.... I highly recommend this book to people who have read Freak the Mighty or someone who likes adventure. So read this book and feel the excitement.

This book is amazing! I read this book in reading group, and now my nickname is worm(my real name is Rachel, I'm 11, and I love reading)! Just as good as Freak the Mighty, if not better! Freak the Mighty and Max the Mighty are must reads if you enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society or The Kingdom Keepers!

Great sequel to Freak the Mighty with new lively characters, including a scary villain named, "The Undertaker." Genuinely heartfelt. I recommended it to my students and brought in some miners hats to read by (like "Worm") and it inspired them to read all the books "Worm" mentioned in the story. Between the kind and colorful character "Dip" and riding the rails, I believe this one is a nod to Woody & Arlo Guthrie.

Well it all began with Freak the Mighty. But then, Freak died. Max hardly could move on. He became Max the Mighty. Suddenly a girl nicknamed Worm comes along and they're out on an adventure. Fleeing from the cops, hitchhiking rides, all just to find one man. Worms Dad. Will they suceed? Or not. Read the book to find out!

This book is one my favorites! The first thing that happens is max just walking the street meets a bully picking on a girl. So max saved the girl called worm. Then they went on an adventure to Montana in order to run away from her abusive stepfather. They were running from the police all the way to Montana (where her father is). But then they could not find worm father, so they looked in an old dangerous mine where her real father is. But then the police find them and they run into the mine and keep running until they see some bright light. Could it be outside or miners lights? Or maybe the police blocking the exit? Read the book to find out. Like I said this book is one of my favorites!
