Loved the illustrations (pencil & watercolor-esque) but the writing is truly lacking. Some of the verbiage is questionable (as to whether I'd want to encourage my child to be speaking like that)... but the story itself, with the same exact illustrations, # of pages, & topic (essentially how to respond to a bully) could have been done 110% better with a little more thought/creativity.

My Snowman, Paul
By Yossi Lapid
Illustrations by Joanna Pasek
A little boy named Dan looks out his window at a big snowfall. His mom suggests that he go outside and build a snowman. Dan complains that his friend Bill says they are really dumb. Dan goes out anyway and builds a huge snowman but grows bored and
hungry and turns to go inside before putting its head on it.
The snowman calls out sternly, demanding its head to be put where it belongs. A talking snowman? Oh man! The snowman says his name is Paul. After that the day is filled with fun---oh what great adventures the two of them have. Poor Bill has none.
This delightful story done in beautiful colors which appeal to young children, is perfect as a 'read to' book for toddlers, as well as a first reader for ages from 4-6 years old. The illustrations are perfect and eye-catching for this age group and cheerful enough to make adults smile too.
Author Yossi Lapid skillfully writes in rhyming sentences which further enhances the cuteness of the story with its near perfect
meter. This book is perfect for the upcoming holidays, as stocking stuffers and gifts. Readers enjoying 'The Snowman, Paul,' will want to check out author's Lapid's other books, including 'Snowman Paul Saves Kate's Birthday.' Little ones will thank you. I know mine did.

Yossi Lapid tells a heart-warming tale about friendship with lovely child-friendly drawings by Joanna Pasek, a perfect joint venture that children will enjoy. It is a good, humorous story, written in rhyme, with lots of drawings without dialogue that picture the action in the tale. The story has a good message about friendship.
Dan’s friend is a snowman named Paul (with a carrot for a nose) who hopes to have fun with Dan. It all began when Dan went out to play in the snow and was mocked for doing so by his neighbor Bill. Dan ignores Bill and builds a snowman. He begins to go home when he hears the snowman suggesting that they have fun together. Dan is hesitant because he does not want to be mocked again by Bill. Dan agrees to play with Snowman Paul and they have a great time together.
“And, then, we raced and hugged and all.
And, now, my new best friend is Paul.”

What a treat! Yossi Lapid has given us exactly the type of book I looked for in my elementary classroom. A bright, fast-moving book with action, a clear message, and beautiful illustrations. This is the perfect book for early readers--the language is simple, rhyming, and fun. The underlying message about standing up to peer pressure is clear, but a natural part of the story.
In short, this old teacher is buying several copies for nieces, nephews, and friends' classrooms. Highly recommended.

Yossi Lapid’s new picture book series titled Snowman Paul is charming and a delight to read. My Snowman, Paul is the first volume in this series. In it, we are introduced to the main characters, a young boy named Dan and his new best friend, Snowman Paul. Written in rhyme, the story is an enticing invitation to readers of all ages to join in an exciting quest for adventure and friendship. Diving into this story on a cold winter night is a wonderful way for adults and children to enjoy reading together. I highly recommend this winter fun series. Readers will walk away eager to see what’s next in store for Dan and his Snowman, Paul.

My grandchildren are grown and live out of state, but I just couldn't resist taking a look at his children's book. The color combinations of the illustrations were so eye-catching and I loved the rhyming verse inside. The message is one I think that young children could relate to and for a few minutes, I was transported back in time and read with child-like wonder.
I would recommend this for any parent to read to their children.

Wow! This is fantastic! I love the illustrations, the rhyming is fun for reading out loud, and it has a great theme. Don't mind what others think, especially when you want to make some fun. It kept the attention of my 3yr old and 1yr old. A very fun book to read again and again.

"My Snowman, Paul, is an endearing book little children will certainly adore. In this first book of the Snowman Paul series, little Dan is bored on a snowy day. His mom convinces him to go out to play and build a snowman. At first, Dan thinks it's a boring idea, but he's in for a big surprise. It turned out his snowman is the best playmate anyone could wish for. You'll have to check out the book to find out more, but I can assure you reading it will be a magical experience. I highly recommend it.

This book's illustrations were beautiful. I feel great illustrations lack in a lot of the children's ebooks I read these days. The reason whybis book only got 4 stars from me was because of how short it was.
