One of my toddler's favorites! I love this little board book more than the longer paper version of Go Dog Go - doesn't take as long to read (essentially when I have to read it over and over and over again), and it withstands a bit more abuse.

Highly recommended. This has been a favorite book of all three of our grandsons. They generally really like it between the ages of 2 and 6. They love to have it read to them when younger and like to try to read it as they get older. Originally purchased this book elsewhere (years ago) but had to replace the old book so purchased a new copy from the store.com.

A friend recommended this book for my son after his mom got it for his son. Once it arrived, within a few days my son was hooked! Suddenly all his other books were shoved aside and this was his favorite. He demanded I read it to him everyday- even repeatedly. Soon I had him tracing some of the actions as we went through the pages: up, down, around.
Unfortunately, at his stage, this proved somewhat difficult for him to start reading as he was only able to deal with single syllables. So he is good with the title: Go, Dog. Go! - which he says as long as he picks up the book. But then he gets stuck by the third page: LITTLE dog. So while I read he points.
He totally enjoys pointing out the sun, moon, boat, bed and other fine details within the pages as we go along.
All in all, this book does offer a lot to beginners for colors, opposites, size difference- even road safety! Well put together PD Eastman.
As a matter of fact, my son's first "big" word came from this book: PARTY. Sometimes he can hardly wait to get to the end to show me the PARTY!
Buy this book for your tots and you won't regret it!
Feel free to also consider other options in the PD Eastman line up: Big dog...Little dog; I'll teach my dog 100 words and Are you my mother?
I own all of these! And the one that my son is now reading with ease is "Are you my mother?" The words are short and simple and I think every child has a love for BIRDS!

Is there a better childrens book than Go Dog Go? Great colors, simple but satisfying pictures, and of course, lots of dogs. Finally just wore the cover off the original with the third kid. If your child age 3 to 8 doesn't like GDG perhaps you should make an appointment. With a lot of Barney/Pooh Bear/TV tie in knockoffs out there, get an original. Also good are: the Bernstein Bears, the Olivia series, Roosevelt and the magic pebble, Ten apples up on top, Are you my Mother?,and for girls the Madeline books to name just a few.

My grandson's favorite story. I carry one of these in my bag at all times, and we read it at restaurants while waiting for our food to arrive. This particular story combines my grandson's faves: dogs and cars. We can't live without this story.

I bought this book for our new great grandson. When his mother was little she had her grandpa read this every night. He would even hide the book at times and she would get mad at him. We bought the book as a joke so she can get her son hooked on it.

This is book came in great condition. However, I was unaware it had a condensed text from the original book of Go Dog Go. I wish that would have been stated when I ordered the book. I would have most likely ordered the full size edition.

My first grader is struggling to learn to read. This is the first book that she could read all by herself. The words are all short and easy and repetitive, but this is exactly what she needs. This pictures of the funny dogs keep her interested in the story. Go dogs!

This is my favorite Cat in the Hat style books... dogs drive cars, climb tress, wear silly hats... and along the way kids learn the words big, small, up, down, stop, go, colors, etc. In my opinion, functions very nicely as gender neutral. I am a girl and loved this book and totally wanted to learn how to drive a car!

One star was removed because the pages in this book are a little on the thin side so you can see through them a bit which can be confusing. In reducing the book to a smaller size, they also cut off portions of the original art and removed the empty space around the art which actually helped to accentuate and frame it. I prefer the original version which was a larger book. On the plus side, the smaller size is better for a toddler to carry and hold.

It's fun and teaches about opposites and color. Dogs are up , out, on ,in, over , under etc..
Also stop/go lights. My 2 year old granddaughter has the book but she likes it best when we read it on my Kindle Fire.
