I only discovered Camilla Lackberg in the last few months and have now read all her books. I really like the characters. Sometimes the stories are a bit light but the main characters make up for that.

This is another imaginative plot from an excellent author. I start reading and I find myself resenting having to put the book down to take care of the necessary tasks of the day. At the end of the book, I marveled how all the loose strings were so very well knit together. I am eager for the next book. Thank you Camilla for many hours of pleasurable and thoughtful reading.

I have read all the books written by Camilla lackberg, but this one was very disapplonting,By combing two stories she lost the flow and made it confusing at times.I hope her next novel returns to her earlier style which were the best,

I love her characters and the suspense of her well written mysteries. I am not often able to guess the guilty party which makes the reading so much more exciting.
This story is a a bit more ghostly than previous novels but I liked that.

I bought this book because it wasn't available in my local library. The price was certainly right. After reading, I donated it to my branch. I hope someone else will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

The lost boy is a haunting thriller that grabs your attention from the start to the end. Beautifully written by Camilla Lackberg, another masterpiece. I have read all her novels and would highly recommend them all.

Very engrossing and engaging. The story line was complicated enough to keep you guessing and it was very well written. I really enjoyed the characters. There was a lot going on but very very entertaining. I really liked this book.

I recently discovered the Camilla Lackberg series with Patrick Hedstrom and Erica Falck and bought the entire 7 novels and couldn't stop until i had read them all. The writing style is fabulous and i have already spoken to my husband about visiting Fallbacka as the descriptions are so great. Really, really worth the read.

I have always enjoyed this author, this book is a continued story around Patrck Hedstrom and Erica Falck. Again this was eminently readable nod enjoyable. If you have read Camilla Lackberg before you won't be disappointed with this book.

I have read all her books. The storylines are great and it's like reading 2 stories as I love the way you feel part of her family. If you are new to this author I suggest you read her books in sequence as I said previously you become engrossed with her family as well as the story.

Camilla Lackberg's books are consistently a good read. This one is no exception. Her main protagonists are well drawn and likeable with a lot of depth. With it's 'ghostly ' theme this is a another worth while story.

I have waited anxiously for Camilla's new book. This one was very disappointing. An accident only in the aftermath, plot lines so complicated and so many of them made reading this novel disappointing. I can't recommend it to anyone unless they are willing to fight confusion to very near the end

This is the seventh book in the Patrik Hedstrom series by Camilla Lackberg. Swedish mysteries have a totally different feel from American and British settings. Maybe it is the geography and the food that makes them seem such a world apart. This series is so well done, and so very cleverly presented, I cannot wait for the 8th book due out next Spring (2014). I have read all seven books and think they are all excellent. They are a top rate series and well worth the effort to find all of the books. I have recommended them to all my reader friends and relative.

I was disappointed in this book. Since I have been reading the series and this book has not been published in the US I ordered it from the UK. It combines a number of things I don't care for including ghosts and domestic violence. I hope the next one is better.

The author threw everything into this somewhat creepy and gruesome book except the kitchen sink: ghosts, illegal drugs, domestic violence, motorcycle gangs, drug addiction, embezzlement, loss of children, same-sex marriage, parents' anguish, unreliable narrators, and history. The "Lost Boy" could have referred to Gustav, Sam, or Anna's dead son. At times it was rambling, which of course, resulted in a VERY long book. I wondered why the author included the embezzlement cases and domestic violence and motorcycle gangs in the story, but realized those situations were the source of at least two suspects. The ending was a shock because the author didn't reveal all the clues to the reader; we only had the information from the unreliable narrator to do one. I do like the characters and it felt like visiting with old friends again. I would have given this book 3.5 stars but am rounding it up to 4.

This is the seventh book in the Patrik Hedstrom series. I have read the first three and really enjoyed them. Lackberg's faithful fans may feel somewhat disappointed with this book, as it's a little different and written on a deeper level. The storyline is very complex, containing many layers, flashbacks, and excellent character development. There is a bit of foreshadowing throughout that can easily be missed among all the details. For me this was a long, slow read because the book itself is long and there is a lot to process and connect. Lackberg shows that she is still one of the top Scandinavian authors, and I look forward to reading more of this series in the future. I received the new English translated edition as a free ARC from Pegasus Books on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My thanks to my contacts at Pegasus Books, Iris Blasi, Katie McGuire, and Maia Larson, for my advance reading copy of this book. You ladies rock!

It is incredibly difficult to argue with success! As this is the seventh in the series featuring Detective Patrick Hedstrom and his author wife Erica Falck to be published in English, Camilla Läckberg is definitely doing something right! The book jacket proudly proclaims this as a “#1 worldwide bestseller!”

As the book begins we meet Nathalie, who is fleeing Stockholm, heading to a small island with her son. The Island is called Graskar, the Island of Ghosts, where, according to legend, those who die there never leave…

Our heroes, Patrik Hedstrom, detective and his wife Erica Falck, an author, are recovering from a car wreck that evidently took place at the end of the previous novel. He and Erica have twins that were delivered by cesarean after the accident. But Erica’s sister Anna and her husband Dan lost a child in the accident…

There is no rest for the wounded, as a murder investigation into the death of Mats Sverin, the local council’s financial director sends Patrik back into fieldwork. Mats was discovered in his room shot through the head. Patrik must do an exhaustive research mission to see if something in the man’s past could have contributed to his murder. He had worked for a women’s shelter…

There is an undercurrent story, a mystery from 1870; the story of the first light house keeper at Ghost Isle, his family, and the mysterious disappearance of everyone one stormy winter night. This is in my opinion the best part, a little historical romp as a side dish to the main mystery!

The actual mystery isn’t bad, quite plausible, and the historical mystery just right! However; there is the soap opera part. The interplay of the families of the police, their highs and lows, triumphs, tragedies, and just plain scandal and gossip was a bit much. I didn’t like that part at all…

If this had been only the murder mystery and historical flashbacks, they could have cut the book by at least 100 pages and tightened the whole novel. I would give the mystery three stars, but I take one back for the ongoing soap opera. A little of that goes a very long way…

Quoth the Raven…

This is another Patrik murder mystery.

Matte Severins is found shot in the head and so Patrik needs to solve this murder. There are many clues and leaves you guessing until the end. Matte worked at a womans refuge centre and all appears to point to abused woman.

Erica who is Patrik wife starts to meddle again as usual and gets involved as she researchs into the history of Ghost Island where Mattes lover Nathalie has gone to hide with her son Sam after running away from her husband Frederic.

While the story is unfolding there is also the story of Anders and his Sister Vivianne who are scheming against Erling who is opening a beauty centre in the city.

Also there is the story about Emelie her husband Karl and also the assistant light house keeper Julian during 1870 who also lived and died on Ghost Island. Karl and Julian despised Emelie and continually abused her and was raped by them so as to bear a son.

All is revealed from pages 465 to the end.

It is a fast moving, easy plot and i could not put this book dowm.

Because of this book i cannot wait until the next Camilla Lackberg book. She is better than Jo Nesbo.
