The Lost Fleet: Genesis: A Slaver Wars Novel

You are drawn into the story from the first page. The story is compelling, character develop is first rate, and events keep moving quickly. Every detail you need to know is detailed and nothing you don't.

The very first book of this series hooked me. Whenever I can find a well written sci fi story about first contact, full of Interesting characters and a storyline that promises great future adventures, I'm a happy camper. Through the following books, Weil has expanded that initial universe into a grand space opera with massive space battles and alien enemies galor. If that is your thing, then then some of the repetitive descriptions of warping and ingrained alien chants may not bother you as much as it eventually did me.

But then this latest book comes out and it reminded me of why I liked the first. These multiple layered storylines seemed much crisper, more balanced and kept me riveted. Throw in a touch of "Ringworld" type exploration of the Dyson Sphere and a bit of AI psychology 101 with Kazak and other AI's ( I will not mention specifically which ones I'm referring to ) and you have a 5 star book for me. Still has some of that repetitive stuff mentioned before but didn't seem to be as bad. Maybe because I left with the impression that one of the repetitive phrases was finally coming to an end?

I highly recommend this book in the series and it sounds like the next will be just as good! Can't wait.

WOW this book was amazing! The first Slaver wars novels were fantastic but the Lost Fleet ones are the best. You have to read the Slaver Wars first though too understand them.
The one thing i dont like however is how most indie writers do business , they write shorter novels with less fleshed out character building and less details so they can pump out more books and faster. However you cant fault them cause this is how they make their living plus most of them use only the the store platform cause from what i hear they are having problems with Apple and google and making less money with them according too indie sci-fi writer Ryk Brown.

I gotta say if Raymond Weil wrote longer books and fleshed out the story more like i know he could these books would be as good as alot of the sci-fi greats like Hamilton , Banks ect ect. But that will never happen.
The plus side is books come out every 3 or 4 months

We pickup with the special five in the Triangulam galaxy fighting the Simulins to preserve their home world and finally get access to
Kazan, the Originator AI, and his ship. But, not all is as it seems.
The humans and Altons back in the home galaxy have discovered a Dyson sphere. Which they are trying to enter. But, others are trying the same and the results are surprising and tragic. Will keep you turning the pages. I have read other reviews that lean towards saying the author has no imagination and repeats himself as to the characters. With this many books in the series, a lot of people appreciate the repeat of some characters backgrounds.
I personally read up to 10 to 15 books a month and need a recap on occasion. I think it does justice to the space opera genre and a great story. But, to each his own. Enjoy, I do. Trapper
