Trophy Hunt (A Joe Pickett Novel)

Well, it looks like Joe and Marybeth are the only two good folks in Wyoming. It's up to Joe again to solve the mystery as the inept shefiff
and the FBI ponder around. An unusual tale, but all ends well.

It started out fine but then the author introduced so many different angles that by the time the book wrapped up it was totally implausible. Aliens, deranged army vets, evil oil companies, corrupt real estate people, I mean really, Aliens!

Box is masterful at interweaving the political (government, organization, family) with a great storyline...his tales clearly distinguish the white hats from the black hats, the good from the bad, and vital role of a red shirt in Wyoming. One is never left feeling shortchanged when reading BOX and TROPHY HUNT is no exception.

I can easily imagine what is being described in the scenery and the views that Joe has while doing his required work as a Ranger (game warden). I also like that he takes it upon himself to pursue justice. He manages to outsmart his "betters" with use of his Ranger (game warden) skills. Likable and totally believable novels by this author, C. J. Box!

The plot of the book keeps the reader going until it is finally revealed at the very end. And its an ending that you don't see coming, which is why the Joe Pickett series is so much fun to read, because you don't know how they end until the pieces come together at the end.
