Goodnight iPad is a very clever take off from the original children's story "Goodnight Moon". Even the "author's name" is a funny play on words. Adults and children alike will get a kick out of the story and wonderful illustrations, and no one will get bored reading it before bedtime.

My son's family is electronically gifted. Coming home each one sets his telephone on the coffee table. Two have iPads. So this book was enjoyed by all. Lots of laughter as they all had been read the original book.

We gave this to our daughter who chose Goodnight Moon every night for at least a year. It is a big hit with all 3 generations of our family. Doing this review after many months reminds me to look at the book again. It's very clever.

Bought this as a fathers day gift for my husband from our baby because everynight he would read her "goodnight moon" and since we have iPads and the the normal electronic gadgets I thought this would be cute. He loved it and she loves the story being read to her everynight. I have also bought this book for 2 Mom's and they both thought it was hilarious. Great baby shower gift for tech savvy parents-to-be.

Gave this to my granddaughters for Christmas. The youngest one felt the wrapper and said it was probably a boring old book. Once she opened it I had her read it to us all, and she was laughing all the way through. Very clever and nostalgic for all of us who spent hundreds of hours reading Goodnight Moon.

Times they are a changing. Read the Goodnight Moon only a hundred thousand times to my now adult children when they were little. Gifted umpteen copies of that book. Loved Goodnight Bush and now this! What a laugh.

Loved this parody of Goodnight Moon....however, I don't understand why some reviewers thought this was a children's book. But for anyone who has an Ipad, and knows how hard it is to put it down, this is a cute look at how attached we become to this device. If you have a child who is that attached to an Ipad already, perhaps you need to pick up some other children's books ;)

Loved this parody!! This was my son's favorite book growing up--probably one of the first he learned to read. So true. All of us need to just turn off all the gadgets once in awhile to give our minds a rest!

I have not read the book but the title alone amused me. My oldest brother pretty much sleeps with his iPad every night so I thought this would be a friendly jab that lets him know his wife might like his undivided attention some nights! --or not?

Goodnight Moon was my daughters favorite book as a small child. Now she is an adult and when I saw this book and the update with the times, I thought it was perfect! She loves the new update! She will share both with her children someday.

Great parody! I used to read "Goodnight Moon" to my daughter (now 14) and she enjoyed this very much given how "connected" her daily life is. I also have "Goodnight Bush" so we have a nice collection so far.

My daughter has been read Goodnight moon since she was born, she is now two and a half. I bought her Goodnight iPad to give her daddy for his birthday as a joke and now we read it to her every night... We relate well to it.

This book is so cute. When my daughter was little, we loved reading the book "Goodnight, Moon" and since she is a major Apple user, I thought this would be a delightful Christmas gift for her now that she is older. I was very pleased with the book - it looks much like the original but has the updated words and illustrations.

Very, very cute!! My children loved Goodnight Moon. Now my grandchildren love Goodnight IPad. Goodnight Moon, written in 1947, has everlasting staying power. I'm sure at some point Goodnight IPad will change into something new, but for now, it's great! Grandma is in the book and even Mom & Dad get into it. Fun with a point!

This was purchased for my son-in-law who we always tease for his dislike of the classic, "Goodnight Moon". He sees no sense in that book. He will get a good laugh out of this moderm version. It is clever and very well done!

Loved the story and even my 11 year old grandson laughed throughout the story. The only thing was a page fell out after 2 readings by an adult... I would of given it 5 stars but because of the page falling out a 4...

As a parent who read this book to 2 kids now grown with children of their own, it was a blast to see and enjoy this parody (with alot of truth in it). My son, now 29, laughed out loud and enjoyed both the text and the illustrations. His kids, aged 5 and 2 loved the illustrations, though they didn't quite get the joke. I was able to point out the differences by holding and reading their own copy of Good Night Moon as we read this new version. BUT-----the book fell apart!!!! After only a week of use, with only adults handling and turning pages, half of the pages separated from the binding. I contacted the store, told them my problem, and a new complementary copy was sent to me, with a free shipping label to send back the damaged book. Let's hope the new copy stays intact long enough for my grandchildren to read to their children!!!!

I got tired of reading "goodnight moon" over and over again. This was a modern day version, that was a lot more interesting and humorous.
The illustrations are very nice. If I had one complaint, it's that the pages aren't hardboard, which means at some point, my daughter will tear them out.

Clever parody of the classic Goodnight Moon. I am a pediatrician who encourages parents to spend time daily reading to their kids. I have it in my office waiting room as a gentle reminder to help parents enforce limiting screen time. My front desk staff love it.

Great idea but overpriced. Also, when I downloaded the kindle version the iconic cover you see in the ad was missing. Not sure if it is a copyright issue or whatever but clearly dissapointing and misleading.

Not only cute and clever, but so true. Even the illustrations showing the children hanging onto their electronics for dear life give it the perfect air of authenticity. Yes, this is a must have. My kids will actually READ a book now since it reads like their life. Perfect for the holidays.

Opened the front cover, and there I found the end of the story! What's worse is that I had already written a "happy birthday" note in what I thought was the front of the book, so, I felt that I could not return it.

This book didn't become a favorite in our house...while it's funny and interesting the first time, it's not something my kid or I wanted to read over and over again. The words and pictures are not simplistic anymore like the original...and it doesn't impart a sense of calm, home-y-ness that the original does.

was a little disapointed in the text... my daughted had always loved goodnite moon but seemed board. we usually love parodys and hearso much about it but it was missing that magical quality that make a story great.

Goodnight IPAD is a delightful, fun parody on the classic Goodnight Moon. I love the book itself. My low rating has to do with the quality of the binding. I am an elementary school music teacher and used this book as a read aloud. It fell apart almost immediately.

The story line and the graphics mimic the original to a tee. Love the current jargon and techno savvy commentary. Wonderfully executed. Had to purchase it for my grandson, but I feel his Mom & Dad, (software & electrical engineers) are going to love it too. "Goodnight Moon" was my son's favorite and he reads it so often to his own son. This will make a great Christmas gift for all on your list!

Good Night Moon was a favorite in our home for my youngest. When I read this one I had to have it even though my youngest is no longer little. It's just a really cute book. So if you like Good Night Moon and for those of us who have watched as we went from no smart gadgets to everyone having them you will like this book.

I’m not sure how Margaret Wise Brown would feel about this story, or about how tech- and gadget-obsessed our society has become. The book was written Ann Droyd, which is a pseudonym for an author who has written many books for children. Her idea in this creation is to remind us all to power down. That’s a powerful message and reminder, something we always need to be mindful of! I always make a point to read to my daughter every night, and to turn off the TV and actually read before I go to bed too. When technology calls, phones ring, texts/tweets/updates beeps, peace and quiet awaits with a good book!

Instead of the cow jumping over the moon, there is a bird (the angry sort) launching over the moon. Instead of the old lady whispering hush, there’s a fed-up old woman who was trying to sleep. She says, “Okay, that’s it!” Then it’s time to say Goodnight iPad, and she proceeds to throw all electronic devices out the window. The loudest to protest is the dad. Hmm…

Our children’s Librarian read this at our Library’s Preschool story time today. I was shocked. It’s not funny or clever; and has no positive message or lesson. I was really embarrassed for her actually.

Five years ago, I would have questioned this being a children'd book, but I now see the phenomenon of a lot of children who have handheld electronic devices, cell phones, iPads, iPods, i[Insert New Apple Name Here], etc. at arms' reach.

This is a sweet book about how one person(ifacation of a person) showed the majority how to take a step back into reality. It cleverly gives a new spin on the "Good Night, Moon" book by adapting it to the present time. Kudos to "Ann Droyd" (a.k.a. David Milgrim) for relating the original to the times in a way that the readers can see the benefit of the nostalgic aspect and see the chicanery of what we - as a culture - have become.

I also find it humorous that this is available for Kindle. ;-)

Anyone who knows the goodnight moon book and also has a lot of technology at home will love and identify with this fun goodnight book. We have a 5yo who thinks our iPad is hers, a teenager who is always on her iPod, two parents on facebook, a tv that streams Netflix...all things referenced in this book which cleverly mirrors goodnight moon. Parents will also appreciate that the main character throws all the technology out the window and the kids end up reading goodnight moon in bed with a flashlight. Pictures are as funny as the text and complement the words. You can spend a lot of time appreciating this book on different levels. Probably won't be popular 20 years from now, but for now, it's super funny.

Last Christmas when I was four days away from giving birth, my younger brother gave me Darth Vader and Son, and my older brother gave me Goodnight iPad (it was a truly awesome Christmas). This book is absolutely hilarious. I wouldn't say it's a mockery of the original, Goodnight Moon, I'd say it's more a mockery of modern life and a tribute to Goodnight Moon. This is a perfect gift for plugged in parents, or parents with plugged in children who are fed up with all the craziness that is our world. This book is just great. It keeps the cadence of the original while thoroughly skewering all the signs of our times.

We received this as a Christmas present, I'm assuming a gag gift, not quite sure. Yes, it is funny the first time you read it and if you don't read it again for a few months it is cute again, but that's about it. It's a gag gift and what do you do with those? I'll probably regift it because I don't want it on my tabletop or my bathroom. Go to the library and see if they have it there.

Parodies are funniest when they are most accurate, and this one is dead-on. It seems like only yesterday that a friend gave me the "Goodnight Moon" gift set with the adorable little bunny when I was expecting my first child. Many wonderful nights were spent with a little one on my lap, reading together, then saying goodnight to beloved items in the room, and then finally the moon... * sigh *

Fast-forward 17 years. The kids are teens and tweens and every night the house is ablaze with ipads, laptops, ds's, mp3s, kindles, and the "lcd wi-fi hd tv". And OMG, the TXTs!

This book is hilariously written and illustrated and so, so, appropriate for all parents of teens and tweens who can still recall the "pre-plugged-in" years they spent with their kids. It IS the perfect gift. I guarantee it will make them laugh, possibly even cry.

My boys loved Goodnight Moon when they were younger. When they saw this book at the book store, they just had to have it even though Goodnight Moon was retired many years ago. They laughed hysterically when the old lady got frustrated when all the technology at the end of the day and with groans, whines, and complaints from young and old alike said goodnight to it technology and tucked everyone in for the night.

It is so much fun to go back and read children's books. The simplicity and beauty of the story and illustrations are a joy.

Goodnight Ipad is a parody of the much beloved Goodnight Moon book. Those of us who have had to battle teens over shutting down their electronics and just reading a book will find the humor not only in the words, but also in the illustration. And if you look close, even the daddy is a bit troubled by having to give it all up for the evening.

A sweet fun book that you will not mind reading over and over to your young ones.

This is a great book for a family of multi-generational geeks. Unlike the current best-selling (but vulgar) parody children's go-to-bed picture book (the one filled with the F-word), this is a book you can actually read to kids. I have no kids living in my house anymore (they've all grown up), so I read it to my dog Feste every night. Spoiler alert: "Goodnight Macbook Air" is my favorite part.

There was nothing I didn't like about this book - spot on in every way. I was especially fond of the hi-def TV screen in front of the fireplace playing a video of, of course, a fire. The author's name is also excellent.

For those familiar with the classic story, "Goodnight Moon", this book will be a treat. It is cleverly written to include references to just about every modern electronic. The rhymes are catchy and the colorful illustrations add to the story line. I am a literacy professor, so the book was purchased for my own collection. However, my 5yo daughter swiped it as soon as I opened it and has made a spot for it on her bookshelf. Great story!

Goodnight Moon is a favorite book of my three kids so when I saw this "version" of it, I had to buy it. The kids (age 12, 10 and 5)loved it, even the older ones. I bought one for all my younger nieces and nephews for Christmas. So cute!

the store recommended I buy GOODNIGHT iPAD when I purchased Techmares: The World's Dumbest Computer Users (funny book for adults, highly recommended!) and I'm glad I did. I got it as a gift for my son, but I had a hard time giving it to him because I wanted to keep it. The author's name (Ann Droyd) immediately grabbed my attention. This is a wonderfully written parody of Goodnight Moon I won't soon forget. And my son loves the pictures!

Having memorized the original "GoodNight Moon" after reading it for years to my nephews, it was with a chuckle that I discovered "GoodNight iPad." My nephews are now almost 10 years old and after reading this to them at the Newseum gift shop in Washington D.C., I had to gift it to them when it made us nostalgic of their younger years and the relevance of the current era. Now the boys and their 5 year old sister read this for kicks and giggles.

Hysterically funny! Enjoyable for the whole family. Great attention to detail;
so much going on, can be read for laughs yet still in a bedtime story rhythm.

Brilliantly parallels the classic Goodnight Moon, both in words and imagery... even a mouse (electric) to find on every page.

This is so hilarious... Everyone remembers the good night moon, but our kids are so wrapped up into todays technology... Do they even know the moon exists or is it just a giant Ipad in the sky. Great book that has been updated with the times. Then again.... it is focusing more on technology...

A very entertaining and clever book. My three year old loves it (and loves Goodnight Moon), yet is too young to really appreciate the humor. But he knows what Angry Birds, smart phones and tablets are, and he gets that we have to put those away to have a proper bedtime story (he thinks it's so funny that the little bunny on the last page is reading Goodnight Moon--"That's what we do at bedtime!")

Notice 2001: A Space Odyssey on the LCD Wi-Fi HD TV? The obelisk and the monkeys...A very clever message to any adult reader who notices. A good present for technophile parents.

As a school librarian I love the book "It's A Book" much better by Lane Smith. For kids there may be some future problems with using tech at a young age too- what will they do if they don't have access to that later? I can't afford an iPad and if I did I wouldn't buy one. I have 2 computers at home and 2 at work. There's disparity between people who just assume all families can even AFFORD these. I work with 85 % high poverty kids. Only about 30% of them even have the internet at home. $500.00 for an iPad is groceries and rent for them. There's a huge disconnect (excuse the pun) in tech where wealthier folks just assume everyone has one. Or wants one, in my case. I love the convenience of tech, but it's too much- $, maintenance, wear and tear, storage. I don't have to worry about dropping a book, getting it a little wet (assuming I own it), highlighting it, tearing out a page, my software crashing (a friend lost his entire Kindle), re-charging, worry about theft. I could go on. It just needs to be put into perspective sometimes. ***Remember- with no electricity, it's just an expensive piece of plastic.

Goodnight iPad by Ann Droyd (aka David Milgrim) really cracked me and my older son up! This modern picture book for children is described as a witty parody for the next generation, for the gadget-crazy kid in all of us. And it really is funny!

I read this book to my son every day. It's a short but a sweet book, great for a bed time story. Our son is 4 months old and seems to really enjoy it. Would recommend this book to any gadget fans who have small children.

The book Goodnight iPAD is great for all ages. Parents, teens, and children reconnect to the orignal book Goodnight Moon. The book brings to the realization how technology has changed and become apart of childhood activities.

For the price I payed, I expected it to be more interesting. It is probably my fault since I did not pay much attention to what I was buying. My daughter loves Goodnight Moon (and my iPad) so I though this Ebook would be a good buy.

This book is terrible. The pictures are cute, but...
The references are already out-of-date. It doesn't flow like the original; the rhythm is off when attempting to read aloud. The story is an angry grandma getting fed up with all the electronic noise and proceeding to toss everything from phones to TVs to e-readers out of a second-story window.

I have the book in hard copy (its delightful). I really wanted to download a copy on Kindle for iPad. Don't do it! The book will not download. I have NEVER had any problems downloading books before from the store but this time it just wouldn't work. I contacted their support for assistance twice and was told both times after trying quite a few things that someone would get back to me. I never had someone get back to me.... After two weeks, I have become frustrated with the customer service and cannot recommend that you attempt to download this title if you are doing so on an iPad.

I am returning this book. When I came across the "Eminem" reference, I decided this is not what I want to expose my children to. I find it inappropriate to reference an explicit rapper in a book intended for very young children? There is also a picture of the father relaxing in a chair with what appears to be an alcoholic drink. Later the youngest child who is still in diapers is hiding and drinking it. This entire book was written in poor taste.
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
david braughler
I appreciate the idea but the fact the father has an alcoholic beverage in his hand while he reads his nook is terrible. Then later in the book, the little baby is drinking his drink!! Definitely UNACCEPTABLE. Also I think the book could do without the lyrics to Eminem saying "its yo mamma if you gotta know."
