Honestly I love this book. I like the perspective changes and getting to see into the minds of characters besides Claire, it made the read much more interesting to see where the other characters were coming from. My only real complaint is that there were a lot of errors in my Kindle edition. Every sign shown in all caps had random K's throughout the words. If not for this annoyance, I'd give it 5 stars.

Things never get a chance to calm down in Morganville as it seems like one crisis after another arises. The last few installments have proved that. However, now vampires are going missing, and it doesn't seem like the "rebels" are to blame this time. His very being permeates evil and he's been the last one seem with some of the missing. Yet it seems as if Claire is the only one who can see him. With the town's vampires acting quite strange, she may be the their only hope, but at what cost?
There was a slight change in the way this book was narrated from previous installments. In Bite Club there were times when we would get a direct view into Shane's head and that really helped the reader get a better idea of the whole picture. In Last Breath, Rachel Caine took that idea one step further and added in a few chapters with perspectives other than Claires. Amelie, Shane, Michael and Eve all get a little time showing their side of things. I particularly liked getting into Amelie's head as it shows a lot of her inner struggle. She's always going to do what she thinks is best for her people, no matter the cost. However, that look into her head showed how much of a struggle it was for her to make those sacrifices and hard choices. She really isn't quite the cold creature she seems to be.
After the slight let down of the last installment, I had high hopes for redemption in Last Breath. I got what I asked for and then some as Last Breath completely blew my socks off. Things started off somewhat sedately, and built so steadily until the pressure almost snuck up on me as it boiled over. It is a wonder that I have any fingernails left after that nail biting read that kept me on the edge of my seat. You would think after reading the past ten installments, there wouldn't be much room for surprise, but Last Breath was one big shocker after another. One of the biggest being the answer to a long standing question: Why would vampires build their town in the middle of a desert when the sun is so deadly to them? This complex addition to the world building was pulled off brilliantly, adding a horrific twist to things that I never could have seen coming.
While the nonstop action was heart pounding, the utter depth of raw emotion was what really cemented this as the very best of the series. The highs are so high that you feel like you are soaring right along with the characters. As for the lows, well lets just say devastation has never been more aptly portrayed. Anger, fear, loss, betrayal, jealousy, love, and desperation, all play huge roles in Last Breath. But the one emotion that stands above it all is hope, and nothing is stronger than that. To be able to feel such hope after everything that happens in this book is nothing short of amazing, and it made Last Breath a truly phenomenal read. I highly recommend setting aside a solid block of time to read this book, as once started, it will be impossible to set down. You won't want to miss this utterly captivating book that will leave you breathless in the end. Bravo!

I’ve always been a fan of the Morganville vampire series so I was glad to see that this book finally had an ending to it. It was a pretty long series at 15 books total. That being said, none of the books were terribly long so they went by relatively quickly.
To put it straight: I have a love/hate relationship with Claire. While I love her because she cares so much and wants the best out of everyone, I also hate her because there are times when she would put herself in a situation that she could have easily avoided if she wanted to. Which ended causing a lot of drama or even a whole book to figuring out how to solve that problem. The one book I didn’t particularly like was book 14, Fall of Night, where she decides to go to Cambridge to finally visit MIT. For some reason, I get the impression that the author was tired of writing about Morganville so she wanted a change of scenery hence Cambridge, Mass. And of course, things happen while Claire is there but if she didn’t go, none of that would have happened. After the end of book 13, Bitter Blood, things have finally settled down, for once, so why did Claire felt the need go to MIT and stir shit up again? And then of course, Rachel, the author, decided to write two more books out of the whole thing. She could have easily ended things after Bitter Blood but nope, she kept it rolling.
I liked Shane, Claire’s boyfriend. He definitely changed a lot since book one and you can see how much he had changed in these last few books. He thinks more before he rushes to do something and he’s a lot smarter now. In fact, all of the other characters, Eve and Michael, have all been rubbed by Claire.
SPOILER ALERT: I also thought that the last book with the bite and everything, was completely unnecessary. Not to mention, the “cure” too was also crazily nonsensical. First of all, how come that vampire cure just so happened to work on Michael and none of the other dozens of vampires that they were tested on? Second, how come that cure didn’t kill Oliver yet killed the others? There was no logic behind this. And finally, how come a vampire cure was able to cure a “hellhound” bite which was basically a werewolf bite, by the way? That last part made absolutely zero sense. While I liked the series, I think Rachel did a hazardous job on the last one. END OF SPOILER.
Sorry for that spoiler paragraph, I usually try to avoid any real spoilers but I could not help this one. Anyways, moving on to Myrnin, my absolute favorite vampire in this entire series. When he was first introduced, I was a little wary of him because he was basically a schizophrenic with crazy mood swings and I was always worried for Claire for spending time with him. However, he has really changed throughout the series and he seemed almost normal in the last few novels. I think it’s hilarious when he comes in wearing some crazy outfit. And despite his weird mood swings, you can tell how much he cares for Claire. To be honest, it would have been interesting to see a bit of Claire and Myrnin action. I mean, everyone already thinks there is something going on, so…why not? Haha
Overall, I liked the series. I’m just surprised that Morganville has survived as long as it did. I feel like without Claire, the vampires there would have died already. She helped them through so many vampire-related issues such as the disease or the long sworn enemy or the coup or everything else that happened. Regardless, I highly recommend these books. They’re super entertaining and fun to read.

Claire Danvers is an extra-ordinary girl living in the extra-ordinary town of Morganville, Texas. What makes Claire so special? She's super-smart, having started college early, and, among other things, works after school in a lab with Myrnin, who's a little crazy...and a vampire. In Morganville though, that's no so unusual - there are lots of vampires in Morganville.
While there is usually an uneasy truce between the humans and the vampires, things are currently a little strained. Someone's planning a wedding, and as the countdown ticks down, it's plain that the wedding is one thing that everyone in town seems to agree on: no one thinks it should happen; not the vamps, and definitely not the humans.
But while the town is focused on the approaching nuptials, Claire and the gang learn that vampires are going missing. Just a few at first, but as the days go by and there's no sign of the missing vampires, things start to get weirder than usual. Claire sees something she shouldn't but can't remember what it was, Amelie gets a cryptic message that leads her to the decision to close down Morganville, and Myrnin has a decision to make. Will Claire and her friends solve the mystery and save Morganville? Do they even want to save Morganville? Or is this their chance to be free of the vampires forever?
My thoughts:
Last Breath is a can-not-miss installation to The Morganville Vampires series! As I've come to expect from this series, the story is fresh and the players are like old friends. As an added bonus, in Last Breath, we are treated to viewpoints from not only Claire, but also Amelie, Eve, Michael, and Shane.
Fans of Myrnin will love Last Breath: he continues to be one of my favorite anti-heroes. Even faced with the possible demise of Amelie, Morganville, and possibly himself, he steps up and does what needs to be done. And Shane...oh Shane...*sniffs* Shane faces possibly the most heartbreaking section of the book.
Without giving anything away, we do learn why this book is titled Last Breath; and believe me, you're going to be holding yours. After 10 books in this series of characters we have grown to love, Ms. Caine continues to captivate the reader with jaw-dropping scenes like this:
I lifted my head, and I knew my eyes were flaring with white power, driven by my rage, my revulsion, my desperation. "Silence them Myrnin. You know you must."
He stared back at me for a moment in mute horror, and shook his head. "I can't," he said. "God witness me, I cannot do it. Not to her. The boy, yes, but not her. Amelie, there must be another way."
"Jesu, you think if there was, I wouldn't take it?" I shouted it at him, fists clenched against the need to strike. "You will do it. You must." And I put my will on him, pushing in a way that I so rarely did these days. That I so rarely had to do.
~page 74, Last Breath
Last Breath was impossible to put down; every time I thought I knew where Ms. Caine was going to take us, I was wrong. This new villain in Morganville is dangerous and scary; so terrifying that even the vampires are panicking. And it's stealthy, sneaking up on us while we're busy looking somewhere else.
I have one complaint...usually Ms. Caine ends her stories nicely and things are as wrapped up as they can be, without ending the series of course, but that's not the case in Last Breath. Last Breath ends with a definite cliffhanger, and I felt like the story was left unfinished.
Last Breath is probably the most emotionally-charged installment in the series to date; fans of the books will not be disappointed. Between the surprise twists and the seemingly impossible challenges Claire must overcome, Last Breath left me gasping for breath.

Well, Last Breath was certainly an improvement over the previous book! And it’s set over a super short time frame which is one of my favorite plot devices! As Eve and Michael are preparing for their engagement party, there’s some unrest within town. They don’t have the Founder’s permission to get married, humans are starting to band together against the vampires, and someone strange has just shown up at the town border. Once again, Claire is at the center of it, but she can’t save everyone this time.
Last Breath was so good! It really kept me on the edge of my seat as Claire and Friends go from one sticky situation to the next. I also thought the alternating POV actually worked this time given that most of the book is of the race against the clock nature. Everyone is running around doing something before it’s too late, and something is going on with our dear Claire. We also get into Amelie’s head to learn about this new threat in town: a second breed of vampire! I actually really loved this twist on vampirism. It’s unique and it makes an odd kind of sense.
I don’t want to give anything away about Last Breath, because it’s basically nonstop twists, turns, and surprises! That middle portion was especially intense, because I wasn’t sure which direction the author was going to take it! Really anything would have been possible! So, what’s next for our friend’s in Morganville after all of these changes?

Another Morganville book to make me cry. I had huge heaving sobs with this one as I faced what the residents of Glass House were going through and the fear of what may happen. There's a rather larger cliffhanger at the end of this book than the previous few. I am very glad I'd already checked out book 12 from the library and it's already ready for me to get started on! (just fair warning, you might want to do the same) I really enjoy the constant shifts in relationships within this series, not just between the main characters, but among the secondary characters as well. Amelie and Oliver, for instance. I'm also impressed with how the author keeps coming up with new and unpredictable story lines within a series this long. I have yet to be bored or lose interest even once. Last Breath has brought in a new "enemy" one I haven't read about in any of my other readings and I'm intrigued. If you enjoy Vampires, paranormal romance, and really great characters, you should be reading this series.

I wanted to read Last Breath because I am addicted to this series, and if you've been following my blog for any time, you'll have noticed my previous love fest reviews for this series. I love the characters, the plot and how something new always comes up and it shapes and develops both Claire the main character but the awesome and fully fleshed out secondary characters. Any time I have a moment in my reading schedule, I have been picking these up.
This one had more focus in the beginning on Eve and Michael and the bomb they dropped last book. There has been a lot of backlash and while I so want them to be happy, I can understand some concern and big issues that I just hope they haven't overlooked.
Last Breath also gives us the perspectives from Amelie, Michael and Shane, though it was mostly from Claire's point of view. But the additional pov def added to the story. There is an event that we really can't get the full picture of what was going on, and another where emotions of others were so critical that without being in their heads, would have taken away that extra element.
There were two, well three events that went down that I never thought I would see because I had my own little view of Morganville and thought that I knew the rules that wouldn't change and people that I could trust.
There is a whole new threat in this one, and some of the implications weren't fully played out in this one, and I am so nervous which way it will ultimately go in the next one.
The plot and adventure was great, we had some steamy moments with Claire and Shane and got to see a whole new level to their relationship.
Bottom Line: Another great installment, Rachel Caine never ceases to surprise me.

Favorite Quote(s):
“He swallowed, and shifted his weight a little uneasily, and then said, very quietly, his lips almost touching hers, ‘Promise me you’ll marry me. Not now. Someday. Because I need to know.’”
“’You like being a girl—that’s good. I like being a guy—that’s also good.’ ‘Next you’ll be all me, Tarzan, you, Jane!’ ‘I’ve seen you stick arrows in vampires. Not too damn likely I’d be thumping my chest and trying to tell you I wear the loincloth around here.’”
Favorite Character: Shane. He’s improving.
First Line:
“Shane’s lips felt like velvet against the nape of her neck, and Claire shivered in delight as his breath warmed the skin there.”
My Musings: I’ve been reading this series for a while now—and it has been a long journey! I mean, fifteen books and counting? It’s crazy. But I’m almost to Fall of Night, and I hope to be there soon so I can just follow along as they come out. But anyways. Last Breath was another fantastic installment in the Morganville Vampires series. It was unique and full of unexpected twists and turns.
Morganville is usually safe for the vampires—not so much the humans. So when vampires start going missing, never to be seen again, tensions begin running high in the college town of Morganville. Amelie is hatching plans that could end Morganville forever, and Claire just doesn’t know what’s going on. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot that left me at a stand still when I finished this novel—luckily the next one came into the library just in time!
Claire Danvers is a character that I have seen grow and develop as a person for eleven books now. And boy has she changed! She is becoming a strong young woman who is not afraid of the terrors that Morganville brings, and a girl who will do anything for the people that she loves. I love reading Claire’s character. She’s intelligent and her points of view are very relatable.
Shane…well, Shane has really improved since the last novel. For those of you who have read it, you all know that he went through a dark streak in Bite Club. But I am proud to say that our favorite, funny boy is back. Shane is sweet and adorable, yet fierce and protective of those that he loves. And although he still struggles sometimes, he is really doing better, and I’m proud of him.
Eve and Michael were the same-old, same-old. Still struggling to do what they want to do (that I’m not trying to spoil for you!) against the thoughts and such of the Morganville residents. Michael is the golden boy, with his friendly personality and loyalty. Eve is still goth as always. Still the funny character that she’s been since the beginning of the series. I really don’t have much to say about them!
The thing that I liked about this novel—what set it aside from the others—was new points of view. In Bite Club, there were some sections of Shane’s point of view. But Caine added more, including some from Amelie. It was nice to see into some of the characters’ heads that we never have seen before. It gave me a broader perspective while reading the novel. I especially enjoyed Amelie’s. It was nice to see how the Founder of Morganville really thought, instead of what she projected as leader. Very interesting indeed.
I really loved the plot of this installment. It may be my favorite one yet! To see the vampires in a vulnerable place was refreshing, even though the humans were at risk as well. That all led to a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one—the next one, luckily, continues right where this one left off!
So now I’m going to write up more reviews—I’m making myself write three before I start Black Dawn! Anyways. Last Breath was another fantastic installment to the Morganville saga; filled with action, drama, and some heart-melting romance, this novel is one that you must give a try.

So now I’m going to write up more reviews—I’m making myself write three before I start Black Dawn! Anyways. Last Breath was another fantastic installment to the Morganville saga; filled with action, drama, and some heart-melting romance, this novel is one that you must give a try.

Oh Morganville, I have missed you and all your craziness. Last Breath is the eleventh installment in the Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine. While series that continue for so long start to suffer story wise, I think Morganville has actually gotten better. What a fitting title for this book, because Last Breath had many moments that took my breath away. New enemies are introduced, one which poses the greatest danger yet to both the vampires and humans that live in Morganville. This is saying a lot if you have read any of the other installments of the Morganville series.
The Morganville Vampire series continues to be one of my favorite vampire series, because of the characters. The four main characters are so realistic, and they are not perfect, but they are a family of sorts. Claire is a main character, who is actually a genius who started college at 16. Claire is very selfless, who cares about everyone, and just wants to help. She is also tough as nails when it comes to protecting the innocence, and those who hold a special place in her heart. Shane is a bad boy with a tragic past full of loss and abuse. Shane in previous books is very hot headed and extremely anti-vampire, but as his relationship with Claire has become serious he is leaving his bad boy rebellious nature behind. I really like this development for Shane.
The other two main characters are facing battle all their own with the people of Morganville. Eve and Michael are very much in love and want to get married. While this should not be an issue in a normal town, in Morganville it is a very big problem. Michael is basically a newly turned vampire, and Eve is human. This causes an upset, because of the risks that are proposed, but mostly it is a game of politics and a vampire marrying a human does not sit well with the leaders.
I will have to say that my favorite character in Last Breath is Myrnin. Myrnin is a very old vampire, but young and attractive in appearance, but he has a tendency to visit Crazy Town on a regular basis. In Last Breath, Myrnin has a moment of complete vulnerability, and readers get to see his true emotions. I think it made me love him even more as a character. Myrnin is usually very selfish, and it was surprising to see him in a different light.
I have loved each book in the Morganville Vampire series, but I think Last Breath takes the series to a new level. There is just a sense of doom that was not there before, and it makes you wonder what is going to happen to Morganville. If you have yet to pick up book 1, Glass Houses, pick it up, I promise you will not be disappointed. I am really looking forward to reading Black Dawn and seeing where the story goes.

Last Breath is the eleventh book in the Morganville Vampires series, a series that reads like a soap opera of small town Morganville's resident vampires and their sheep....I mean human citizens. Although each book is a stand-alone, I wish that I had read the other ten first so that I could learn some of the history of the characters mentioned in this book. Each person in town has an interesting life story that reaches back generations to the settlement of Morganville.
Last Breath is one of the new genre called New Adult fiction which refers to any book about college students or 20-somethings. As an older woman with four teenagers at home, I thought that I would really dislike the book and the characters, as young and happy and attractive as they would be. However, from the first chapter, Claire, the protagonist, her boyfriend, Shane, and their two best friends, Eve and Michael, are in trouble up to their adorable necks. From issues about college to cross-species marriage to the town mean girls to houses that are alive and everything in between, there is trouble galore. The author, Rachel Caine, has created characters that are likable and imperfect, situations that are frightening and exciting to readers, lots of drama and a little bit of romance.
Besides being an excellent writer, Caine apparently is the typical nerdy girl because the inventions used by the mad vampire scientist, Myrnin, are very steam punk-like. The evil creature terrorizing the town (don't worry, I won't give it away;) ) is wonderfully imaginative and horrific. And Claire goes to college for Physics, a subject which she ruminates upon when she's nervous. It was all very believable and kept me entertained until the very cliff-hanger end. Definitely a five star!

Last Breath, Book #11 of the Morganville Vampire series
Author: Rachel Caine
Synopsis: With her boss preoccupied researching the Founder Houses in Morganville, student Claire Danvers is left to her own devices when she learns that three vampires have vanished without a trace. She soon discovers that the last person seen with one of the missing vampires is someone new to town--a mysterious individual named Magnus. After an uneasy encounter with Morganville's latest resident, Claire is certain Magnus isn't merely human. But is he a vampire--or something else entirely?
Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson - LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha]:
I love the Morganville Vampires series and have been an avid follower since book #1. Nothing could have prepared me for the fabulousness that was book #11, Last Breath, however.
Rachel hit a home run with this book in every way possible!
Like all Morganville books, there was tons of action, danger lurking around every corner, sweet romance, problems to be solved, friendships solidified, alliances forged, and mysteries galore.
Unlike other Morganville books, Last Breath gave the reader a closer insight into some of our main characters when Rachel switched up point of view from Claire, to Michael, to Amelie and back - all seamlessly.
While I read that people were worried that there wasn't going to be as much Myrnin in this book (yes, I love him too!), no worries, there was plenty. Actually, if possible, we get an even better glimpse into the enigma that is Myrnin, making my love for him grow even more.
This book was an intense, heart pounding, sigh & gasp inducing, anger igniting, emotional thrill ride and it was my favorite of the series thus far. Bottom line...Last Breath took my breath away.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Last Breath an easy 5 Skulls, and would recommend it to EVERYONE! Morganville may be classified as YA, but adult Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance readers will love this series just as much. You really do need to read the first 10 installments of The Morganville Vampires series before settling in for this gem, however. There is just too much history that you would be without, thus making Last Breath only a sliver of the prize it truly is. I am beyond thrilled that there will be a 12th book in the series, my only complaint is that I don't have it in my hot little hands right this second.

This is Book 10 of Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire series. The latest installment of our loveable humans and vamps from Morganville features a politically charged issue: Michael and Eve are engaged and planning an engagement party. Most of the town is in an uproar, Amelie is required to give her blessing (which hasn't been granted yet), and Oliver has commissioned Claire and Shane to talk both Michael and Eve out of their wedding plans.
During the goth-girl/vamp-boy drama it has been noticed that vampires are doing the disappearing act--gone without a trace. When Claire and Shane drive Myrin to the edge of town to investigate a camper wanting into the town, they discover that it's a carrier with a letter from a neighboring vampire town that only contains one word: "RUN."
Claire is also seeing a newcomer named Magnus around Morganville, who seems to be up to no good. Now it's up to Claire, apparently the only human to see him, to locate the missing vamps and take Magnus head on in a battle that may leave Morganville in a state of ruins. Morganville is certainly a place that the dust never settles.
"Last Breath" is another good installment of the Morganville Vampires series. It a quick and easy read. I was able to read the entire book in one evening after I got home from work, without staying up to late. The POV is switched up in "Last Breath," which is different than all of the previous books. This one has each chapter narrated by one of the main characters in the book. I enjoy books that are written this way and I've noted that on each review I've done on a book with this type of format.
*Myrnin is still crazy and Claire finds herself on the fence with the vampires who have sworn to protect her. See quote I've posted below.
*Magnus is a very dangerous draug (a water vampire) master and his character kind of reminds me of the pied piper of the undead.
*Shane is tested beyond everything else he's had to endure thus far. He's not an emotional character but we see a side of him that I knew he had in him.
*Claire is, as usual, a pawn in the game between humans and vampires. Vampires use her but don't really like her and humans don't trust her even though she is, indeed, one of them.
*Eve pulls the stunt of the century and one that I've waiting to see someone accomplish and live through. Go Eve!!! Rah! Rah! Rah!
*Michael, well, seems to have fallen back into the shadows a bit in this novel I think.
Quote:
Claire: "She'd always thought that, at a certain level, she could trust Myrnin, & Amelie. But if she couldn't...if deep down, they saw her as disposable...what chance did any human really have in Morganville?
None.
That is what Shane had been trying to tell her all along." (R. Caine, 2011, pg. 102)
As from my Vol.1 review: The entire human population of the town lives in fear of the creatures that stalk them; some of them can even be out during the day. Leaving the town is possible but not advisable as the vampires can do some interesting mind tricks to you to make you forget the town--BUT--if you ever start remembering anything while outside the bounds of Morganville, they will hunt you down and destroy you.
According to the author's website, these books are suitable for Young Adults ages 13 and up.
the store has this listed for 18+ but I completely disagree. 13+ is an acceptable age threshold.
Welcome to Morganville, Texas but make sure you don't stay out after dark!

I started reading this series when I was a teenager and still read them because I want to know how they will end. However, in the last few books, nothing has changed. It's like I'm reading a sitcom. Everything goes back to being just about the same at the end. It's boring, unrealistic, and lazy.
The author needs to commit to change and have consequences. Otherwise, the story is pointless and not believable when nothing and nobody ever change. I'm tired of Claire and Shane as a couple. They have the most boring, unrealistic relationship. Nothing ever changes with them, and nothing grows. They're just stalled out and over-the-top mushy. What happened to smart, capable Claire? Now, she is blowing off MIT, so she can stick around Morganville (which she so badly wanted to leave before) and deal with Shane's emotional drama. Michael and Eve are boring, too. I like Myrnin still, but even he is stagnant.
!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!! Caine had the opportunity to really change things in this book when Claire died. She could have become a vampire, but nothing happened. There were absolutely no consequences from bringing her back from the dead, besides "the house broke." Wow. Exciting stuff. It was a total cop-out. She was resurrected from.the.dead. But really, no consequences? Really? !!!SPOILERS OVER!!!
I don't think I'll bother with this series anymore if the one after this has the same, unchanging storyline.

I always crack open the next Morganville book knowing that I will love it before I read a single word. Rachel Caine is a writer I can depend on. In this book, she takes the concept that she used in the previous book of sharing the P.O.V. with another character and multiplies it. In other words, while Claire still gets the most narration, the reader also gets to read a bit of narration by Amelie, Shane, Michael, and Eve. Shane's thought process is familiar from the previous book, and Eve's reminds me of her diary entries from the early books in the series. Michael's are interesting because I got to see some of the darkness that he struggles with on a daily basis, while trying to hide it from the other members of the Glass House. I enjoy Amelie's P.O.V. the most because she obviously has the most secrets and history to reveal. Caine could easily make Amelie the main character of a prequel series about the founding of Morganville (how I wish!).
Claire is in top form as usual, as she has the unique -- and unexplained -- ability to see Magnus before anyone else, or before Magnus even wants to be seen. Magnus is quite the horror-movie creature, the draug, whom even the local vamps fear. Reading the detailed descriptions of what he can do with water gives me goosebumps. As for how Magnus retaliates against Claire, I simply refused to believe that Claire's state was permanent -- she is simply too essential to the series. Now I am wondering, though, how the series would fare if Claire went vamp -- but that's all up to Rachel Caine.
The one thing I really disliked, of course, was how the book ended -- the first cliff-hanger of the series. There was just way too big of a loose end hanging to leave me feeling satisfied. The rest of the book was still fabulous, though, and I can't wait for Black Dawn to hit the shelves.

I admit I was worried that this series had started to run out of steam after reading the tenth installment, Bite Club: The Morganville Vampires, but I'm happy to say that the latest Morganville book put my mind at ease. Last Breath offers lots of surprises, reveals, action and emotion that make it one of the most satisfying of the series so far. Literally no one is safe this time from Morganville's latest threat where the twists just keep coming. I couldn't have predicted any of the events that occurred this time around, and I love that Rachel Caine is taking so many exciting risks with her characters and providing such a juicy storyline this late in the series.
This time around in Morganville there's a new threat that even has the vampires scared. Vampires are disappearing left and right and Amelie fears that the dreaded enemy that has hunted them for years has finally found them. It's interesting to learn about this new threat and what makes it so powerful and lethal to everyone in Morganville. Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael are facing a huge challenge, and I was holding my breath to see how they would come out of it. Through multiple narrations of Claire, Michael, Eve, Shane and Amelie, we get more character reveals that give a new insight into our favorite Morganvillian's. There is also plenty of Myrnin as well and he plays a key role in this book.
The characters go on quite a journey this time around. And the relationships they have built with each other and the other members of Morganville really make the events that occur that much more touching and meaningful. There is just the right amount of time spent with each character to move the story along and keep things interesting. The beginning of the book really threw me off track with how I expected the story to go, and the action just kept ramping up. There are plenty of emotional and romantic scenes though that balance out the drama and suspense. In fact, some of the biggest insights and vulnerabilities of the characters are revealed this time around.
This is the third installment I've read via audiobook, and I think this is now my favorite way to experience this series. The narrator, Cynthia Holloway, does an expert job with the characters. From Myrnin to Amelie, Claire to Shane, all of the character voices are distinct and believable. They match up very well to the character voices in my head, and the narration conveys the appropriate amount of emotion and intensity. I don't think I can go back to the printed version of the series.
I eagerly await the next installment, Black Dawn: The Morganville Vampires. There will be fifteen books in the series in total, and after this game-changing book I can't wait to see where Caine takes the story next.

As always, Last Breath, of all the other Morganville Vampire books begin with how things in Morganville are eruled by vampires and how things go if yopur to be a resident. If you are to be a resident then you'll definitely be at the mercy of all the vampires.
I'm a deep lover of The Morganville Vampires and of course of Rachel Caine, so I was looking forward to this one so much. Once I started it there was the added information that Michael and Eve are going to soon get married and while to them its something to look forward to, they aren't prepared to be met by resistance coming from the town because a vampire and human should just not be.
There are many reasons why the vampires are against Eve (a human) marrying Michael (a vampire) since in the past there was a very big disaster with it. You'll be seeing Eve and Michael's point of view as they go through their issues. These while very emotional added depth to the story.
Throughout Last Breath, the town of Morganville, Texas it becomes rather gloomy. Even dead, as a danger from the past haunts not only vampires but humans as well. These new beings are by far the deadliest predators since vampires.
This time around Claire Danvers isn't our main point of view as it was throughout most of the other books. We get to be in the minds of Shane, Michael, Eve, and yes even Ameelie. Shane as always is a sarcastic, cynical? guy, Michael is the mostly calm guy of the group of Claire's friends. While, Eve is still going strong with her gothic outlook on life.
Last Breath was a book that was highly anticipated this November. While I thought it be magnificent. It was a bit lagging. But make no mistake I enjoyed reading on my e-reader and smiled a lot from a few humorous quips in the story. Also loved when there was Myrnin since he's the one with an interesting personality but the story just went in a new direction. Yes, I'm very conflicted! So, I'm trying to get to a point of where I am with the new changes. Still enjoyed. Thought it was a good read for the most part.
Overall: Good read

So, I'm trying to get to a point of where I am with the new changes. Still enjoyed. Thought it was a good read for the most part.
Overall: Good read

The first twenty percent of this book is slow paced and focusses on Michael and Eve's wedding. Then near the half way mark we are shocked out of our skin. We've expected it since book two and finally got it. Maybe. Or maybe not. I won't spoil it, but it's a creative move that makes this book worth it. The book grabs us here and holds on to a kind of cliffhanger ending. We're also introduced to Magnus a cool new supernatural creature. If you love the series this book won't let you down. It's equal if not better than the last four books or so.
Bashing the series.
My question is where is the series going? Who is the star? At first Claire's aura shined and we all thought she would be special. Then we had more of her housemates who seemed to be more herroic than she is. Then the last four books her housemates have seemingly shared equal time with her if not more. We still watch through Claire's eyes, but the others seem to have more life. Michael saves the day, or Eve figures the clue out, or Shane comes up with the lifesaving idea, while Claire decisions continue to dwindle. Amelia? "Can't spell it" Showed signs of being warm and loving through the series. The last few books she's been headed to being a maniac. I hate for a good series to ever end. I'm glad she's keeping it going fairly well, but the lead characters need to progress. "More than a wedding, and making a album". Also who are the bad guys? How many people have bashed Breaking Dawns ending? Everyone bashes Meyer for one scene where she wanted to save her characters, yet this series has it in every book. In this series almost every bad guy, is a good guy the next novel. Even Bishop had some honor and didn't kill everyone.
SPOILER<> SPOILER.
This book shows signs of major progression, but then it doesn't. We're left where we started and with a new race of evil creatures to keep the series going. Magnus's people seem unstopable and deadly through the book, then the end fight scene five people give them a good fight. Michael's point of view seemed off, but It could just be me.

Last Breath by Rachel Caine is wonderfully dangerous- riveting, a knock out. It is the eleventh book in the Morganville Vampire series and my absolute favorite. Caine once again took my breath away with refreshing ideas. I'm so impressed that she can keep this series fresh, there for awhile I was thinking about putting it down... So glad I didn't.
In Last Breath we get to read from just about everyone's point of view- Shane, Michael, Eve, Claire, Amalie. This is my favorite aspect of this novel. I wish Caine had done this long ago. It really put a new spin on Morganville. Eve was maybe my least favorite character, but after reading scenes from her point of view I actually like her. Maybe even relate to her. And it is fascinating reading from Amalie's point of view- especially after she has been such a mystery from the start of the series.
The plot is thrilling and introduces a new sinister villain. Something worse than the vampires, if you can believe that. Kudos to Caine for throwing something new into her series, it worked perfectly and helped to explain Morganville a little better. There are so many twists and turns in this book, I honestly didn't see so many things coming. I love being surprised- and I was so shocked. Shocked! Did she really just go there?
If you're already a fan of the Morganville Vampire series, you aren't going to be disappointed. Caine packed Last Breath full of everything we love- action, suspense, romance... Vampires! I really loved this book. It is the best in the series so far. I can't wait to see how Rachel Caine tops herself again in BLACK DAWN. And if you haven't given this series a try- what are you waiting for? Each book is a quick read with unique, fun adventures.

Oh Morganville, how I have missed you! This is one of those series that just keeps pulling you in with each story the author creates. I just love revisiting Morganville and the town to get my vampire fix!
The book starts out with the planning of Eve and Michael's wedding. They are trying to get the permission needed in a vampire/human marriage from Amelie while also trying to get the humans to agree to it as well. During the process of the planning, vampires start to disappear when a new face shows up in town named Magnus. Magnus is not human, but he is not quite vampire either. When Claire starts to piece together who he really is, the town is already in battle and beloved characters will be lost to the fight. While Amelie wants the vampires to run and find a new home, Claire and her friends are determined to save their town.
I have to say that this book in the series I think is my favorite so far. Not only did so many things happen that the reader will not expect, but the way the author changes the Point of View around was greatly satisfying. The series has been focused mainly on Claire's Point of View (POV), but in Last Breath we get to read from Shane, Eve, Michael and Amelie as well. We got to see glimpses of what each character was feeling and thinking throughout the story. The only character that I hoped she would include was Myrnin, but we never get to see inside his crazy head. Hopefully in the next book she will explore his mind as well.
If you plan on reading this book from the series, have some tissues on hand and be prepared for your emotions to be thrown all over the place. You will cry, gasp in suspense, cringe in fear and be yelling for your favorites to win! One of the best in the series of eleven so far!

Last Breath is even better than the first installment of the series! After eleven books, Rachel Caine is still on fire, keeping the action coming, the twists and turns rolling and the hints of romance growing. This book, more than the others in the series, truly left me reeling with tons of surprises and incredible action and emotional turmoil that had me laughing, crying, cheering and angry as I devoured the pages.
Claire and the gang are back and as usual, they find themselves in the middle of a war that leaves vampires running, humans hiding, and Morganville at the brink of collapse. Michael and Eve's wedding are causing disarray with humans and vampires alike, but that gets pushed aside when Morganville gets an unwanted visitor. With vampires disappearing, and Claire seeing an ominous figure lurking in the shadows, she starts doing what she does best - investigating and trying to protect the people she loves, vampires and humans alike. Problem is, this figure, Magnus, is unlike any other being she has ever met - a creature that leaves even the vampires quaking with fear. As she tries to help her friends. As everything collapses around her, will Claire be able to save the town and the people she has grown to love before it's too late, or will she lose it all?
This book is the eleventh book in the series, yet it still managed to surprise me - that is incredible. A major character (or should I say characters?) is killed off, people are left in grief, the town in chaos and the vampires on the run. In other words, the proverbial crap has hit the fan and it will leave you reeling. The subtle yet powerful ending will leave counting down the days for the next book! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Rachel Caine - you are a genius!

Morganville is not a typical Texas town, but a social experiment to see whether humans and vampires can peacefully co-exist. The vampires stand at the top of the food chain; they make the rules that humans must obey. Four friends (humans Claire, Eve and Shane and the vampire Michael) room in Glass House. Eve and Michael are in love and want to marry, but their respective species violently oppose interspecies marriage.
Taking a rest from the nuptial craziness, Claire and Shane meet a vampire from a nearby town with a letter addressed to Amelie the Founder and ruler of Morganville. Myron the mad vampire scientist takes it and tells them it says "run". At about the same time, Claire sees a strong male who is not vampire or human. An evil long standing enemy of Amelia and her species has arrived. This thing disguised as human can easily kill a vampire. The town's residents regardless of specie are in extreme danger as recently three vampires vanished without a trace after a visit from Magnus.
The eleventh Morganville Vampires small town fantasy (see Ghost Town) is a pulse pounding supernatural thriller that keeps readers on the edge until the Last Breath expires. Courageous Claire has risked her life before against impossible odds, but this time the adversary seems too powerful, but though human she still tries to rescue vampires from the wrath of Magnus. Shane's perspective is narrower as he thrives to do what it takes to keep his risk-taking beloved Claire safe. Rachel Caine writes a wonderful young adult tale in which the heroes must choose fight or flight with either option most likely leading to death.

This amazing book made me laugh, cry, laugh again, stare in shock, jump for joy, and be pissed off all in the course of 335 pages. This book was awesome. It was so far the best in the series.
I adore the cover. It has this creepy elegance that goes perfectly with the book and just makes me stare at it and get a little freaked out... You get to understand the title of the book about half-way through the story. Which made me cry, but I won't tell you if it was tears of happiness or tears of sadness.
The plot was very intriguing, but it was like all the other plots of the books with its own different story told. I could tell when the story was beginning to wind down, but not fully because Last Breath ended with the dreaded cliffhanger. Which is why I sat there pissed! :) Everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong. They needed a big hug after this one... But not until the next book is out!
Caine decided to do different POV in this book which I really enjoyed. It was nice to see things from Amelie's POV, or Michael's! There were a couple others but those seemed to be the two that stood out! It seemed to take the story to a whole new level, one that made it a more enjoyable story!
If you had stopped reading the Morganville series, you need to pick it up again just to read this book! It gets 51 out of 51 tacos!! :) Go read it! You won't regret it!

Last Breath by Rachel Caine
I am really going to try to do this, by not giving any spoilers (I may not have been the only one to wait to read it).
I feel that Last Breath is a big changing point in the Morganville series. The twists and turns of this book were unexpected and had me on the edge of my seat, with the turn of every page.
As we know Michael and Eve are engaged, and that has put the people and vamps of Morganville in an uproar. Some for it, a lot against a vamp/human marriage. But that is just the start of this journey. Vampires start disappearing and we know Bishop is not to blame. Something strange is going on and it even has the vamps running.
I don't even know what to say about Claire without giving away anything. BIG, Big things happen to Claire that I hope we don't see again.
The relationship between Michael and Eve, Shane and Claire will be tested to the fullest capacity in this installment. Rachel lets the reader know exactly what these characters mean to each other and where they each stand.
The best part is that we get many different POV in this installment. Not only Claire and Shane, but, Eve, Michael and even Amelie!
I cannot give this book any higher praise.
5 of 5 stars!!!

This is book 10 in the bestselling Morganville Vampires series. The excellent storytelling by Rachel Caine hasn't dwindled one bit. Last Breath is just as thrilling and witty as book one, and twice as captivating!
There's never a sane (or dull) day in Morganville, Texas--that's something you learn quickly once you become a citizen. But when suddenly the vampires in the small town are concerned, even frightened, by a sudden message from a neighboring vamp community, one thing is clear: trouble is coming, and it is worse than anything Morganville has seen before. And frankly, that's saying something!
In between the chaos provoked by the message, another problem is brewing, this time between the two factions of the town. Eve and Michael have plans for their future, and it begins with the sound of wedding bells. But if the citizens, from either side, have their way, it will end in blood instead. Despite the sides, they both have the same core belief: Vampires and humans should not mingle, beyond one providing a meal for the other. Even Amelie, the town Founder and ruler has taken this side, for "the sake of the town". Needless to say, neither Eve nor Michael will accept this answer, and so the fight begins!

Last breath is a great edition to the Morganville series. Rachael manages to bring new readers up-to-date while keeping up the pace that followers of the series have come to expect. There are new threats and daring plot twist. This is, in my opinion, one of the strongest books in the series and one of the best books I have read this year. I can't wait for the next installment. This series will make you want to live in a town run by vampires as long as you can be part of the Glass House. People who like this book should also try The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris, the new Richard and Khalan book based on the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and all of the Sword of Truth series - not set in modern day, but a great series. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, and my new favorite author Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowbrock series. I still liked the Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells but the last book didn't seem quite as good as the rest. Hoping for more in the next book. I was even more disappointed in the House of Night's last book. Going to try the next one but that may be it for me - you could tell where the author's seem to switch off and the story became increasingly less strong.

Claire and her friends are battling a new fight. Eve and Michael are engaged, but no one in the town is eager for the marriage to take place. Instead, both sides are fighting this union.
Claire also notices that something's going down inside the vampire community - something they're not sharing. Instead, they're insisting that everyone stay inside.
Claire learns that an enemy of Amelie has arrived. Vampires are going missing. Amelie is scared. Claire can't imagine what has her so rattled. She knows one thing - if Amelie feels threatened, the danger is worse than ever before.
Can Claire and her friends once again help save Morganville or will this really be the end of everything?
My Thoughts: I really love this series - for the uniqueness of the vampires, for Claire's determination and strength, for Claire and Shane, for Michael and Eve, for Claire and Eve, and all the action and drama. Like all of them, this book had a creepiness factor. I loved watching Claire trying to unravel information about this new threat that no one can see. I really liked the different perspectives, which is new. A fantastic new chapter to an amazing addictive series!

Rachel Caine is an evil, wicked author for what's she has done to her characters--and by extension her readers--in LAST BREATH, the eleventh book in her crazy fun Morganville Vampire series. Not since GLASS HOUSES--which ended with with the decapitation of a main character--have I been as shocked by a book in this series...and yes, that means someone else very important dies.
I am continually amazed at how after so many books, the stories about Claire, Shane, Eve, Michael, and Morganville still feel fresh and exciting. What's more impressive is that the stakes--pardon the pun--escalate with each book too. How Rachel Caine manages to top herself with each book, I'll never know, but the reader in me is just thrilled that she does.
Vampire politics have become an increasingly pivotal plot point in the series overall, but like in previous books, there is a very personal storyline in LAST BREATH too, involving Michael and Eve's impending nuptials. Not to mention the ever volatile relationship between Claire and Shane, who actually didn't make me hate him even once this time. That's a new record. There were also some very difficult realizations that Claire had to make about a different relationship. I am extremely excited about what this could mean for the future of the series.
As in the previous Morganville book, LAST BREATH isn't told exclusively from Claire's perspective. We get chapters from Shane, Eve, Michael, and even Amelie, the last of which was a little odd. I think I prefer her as the mysterious and aloof Founder rather than knowing her thoughts. But these new perspectives did provide TONS of answers about Morganville and it's citizens, so I'm not complaining. I can only hope that we get a chapter from Myrnin next time. And there will be a next time. Rachel is under contract for at least three more books in The Morganville Vampires series. Up next is BLACK DAWN, which will be published in May 2012, and after the end of LAST BREATH...the series may never be the same.

Holy Batman, Morganville fans, didn't see that coming! The Morganville series has been redeemed for me!
If you remember, I was sadly disappointed with Bite Club and had even thought about giving up the series if I didn't love this one (which makes me sad because I've loved this series). I'm happy to report I did, in fact, love Last Breath.
Caine took some big risks with this book and it felt more like the Morganville I fell in love with all those books ago. The last few books had seen a sad mopey Shane and a pitiful cowardly Amelie. Shane is still a little mopey and Amelie is still acting like a scared little girl, but the rest of Morganville has said "Enough!" and started kicking butt.
Last Breath is full of action and even introduces a new BIG BAD (as if blood sucking vamps wasn't enough). There was a lot less teen angst and a lot more hard hitting action and horror - all the stuff that made me love Morganville in the first place.
While Last Breath doesn't end on a total cliffhanger, there's definitely a lot left unresolved. And, unlike most of the previous Morganville books, this one doesn't totally stand on its own. Most of the books in the series you can pick up and read, even if you've never read any of the series before, but this one really does require some backstory to not be totally lost.
I'm glad I didn't let Bite Club be my last Morganville. I'm excited about this series again after reading Last Breath.

Wow, I think this was my favorite of the series! These books just keep getting better. I don't know how Rachel Caine manages to keep us invested in this story even after eleven books, but she does. Once you start reading one of these books you find the pages just fly by. This has always been a fun series with a lot of action, romance, and snarky/humorous dialogue. This book in the series however, is a game-changer, and felt a bit more serious than the others.
After the whole drama played out in Bite Club, Shane is determined to make it up to Claire, Michael, and Eve. Michael and Eve are planning their wedding, well mainly Eve is. Michael doesn't seem as enthusiastic. Pretty much the whole town, vampire and human, are against the wedding, and Michael is feeling the pressure. Oliver has even gone to Claire to get Eve and Michael to stop the union. In the midst of all this, an unknown "person" has shown up in town. Claire keeps spotting him, he's non-descript, average in every way, but every time she sees him she has a weird sensation come over her. Trouble is she seems to be the only one who spots him. Add to this, vampires start disappearing from town, left and right.
This book is different from all in the series because up until now the stories were told in Claire's POV. We get the perspective of: Shane, Michael, Eve, and even Amelie in this one. It was a nice change. I do wish that we would have a chapter from Myrnin's POV too. Myrnin even with his crazy and volatile personality manages to become a hero when needed (and boy was it needed in this one!) The different POVs made it possible to confirm suspicions many have had for a long time. Whether or not this will have any bearing on the story in future remains to be seen (I hope it doesn't, thank you very much. I like the way things are!). Claire and Shane's relationship is so very sweet, inside-melting sweet!! Man they have some great moments in this one, and the ending scene with them.........well, made me all warm and fuzzy inside!! I think I've never loved Shane more than in this book! There is also a rip-your-heart-out chapter or two!!! Intense and heart-breaking does not cover it!!
One of the best things about this series is that Caine always leaves you wanting more without leaving you on a painful, violence-inducing cliffhanger! I think Rachel Caine stepped it up a notch with this one!

I never get tired of the Morganville Vampires series. Its always a new and exciting storyline with subtle differences to keep the story fresh. Claire is such a great heroine because not only is she brave she's also highly intelligent as well. Viewpoints are not only through Claire's eyes but this time we see views from some of the other characters at well. It definitely doesn't make the novel confusing but it gives it a great new twist. I actually think this might be the best book in the series. The ending completely surprised me and left me excited and waiting for the next book in the series. I definitely recommend this novel if you have read the others in the series.

this was by far the best morganville book yet. from the beginning i was enthralled with the storyline and couldnt contain the anxiety i felt. it was so exciting, so different, and so fantastic. i loved the small tidbits from the other characters, but am always glad to be in claires pov. i was not expecting a lot of the events that occured and loved that about this book. i need to be suprised to be entertained and last breath went beyond my expectations. i really thought that after 11 books i would need closure, now i just need more! the ending, loooooved it i just hated that it actually had to end!

I absolutely love this series and have fallen head over heels in love with all of the characters. I have a thing for Myrnin- he's my guy. Kinda crazy but always there for you. Love it.
You know there are going to be some crazy shenanigans going on in this book and I couldn't wait to see what Ms. Caine had in store for us.
The book started off a bit slow- less with the action and more with learning and understanding- which is fine, but by book 11 expect to jump right into some insane drama. It still works because after all it is the 11th book-have I mentioned that already? And we've been waiting for this book for a while now- so with the slow beginning you get to bring yourself back up to speed with details from the previous books slowly creeping back into your brain, and on top of that you fall in love with the characters all over again.
Claire- the main character- is this small but very strong and intelligent female. How could you not love her?
And her big muscular but sweet boyfriend. Great duo.
And then Vampire Michael- who wins my vote for sexiest hands down! :) and his Fiance!! Goth Chick Eve- which I would love for a best friend!
These four main characters are perfect together and bring the story back to life.
So yes the beginning isn't fast paced, but it gives you the chance to get back into the swing of things- Morganville style :)
About halfway through, the action picks up and I literally sat at the edge of my seat as I read the rest of this book! I couldn't put it down! From one crazy thing to another- and new bad guys to go up against- the plot was well written, attention grabbing, and absolutely what I expected for Book #11! :)
Rachel Caine has absolutely shown me why I love reading her books all over again and let her creative mind wow me and of course craving more.
I give Last Breath by Rachel Caine 5 stars and completely recommend those who have already read the series to be sure to read this one soon! and those who haven't read the series to grab the first book Glass House and start it today!

Last Breath, the eleventh chapter in the Morganville Vampire series, proved to be a HUGE disappointment. This far into the series, I expect that any events that happen in it need to have reasons to really be there, instead of just acting as fillers. Nevertheless, that is the exact thing I get: two supposedly "huge" dramas that didn't have any consequences molded into a storyline that fit into the exact pattern as the previous books.
Nothing new is really there other than the villain and even he doesn't really have any depth. Another thing that I don't get is why must everything happen to or have to be about Claire? There are three other members in the Glass House that I think deserve to be put on the center stage. Let them steer the story, let it be about them rather than about Claire. After all, it is "The Morganville Vampire Series" NOT "Claire Danvers series". This is the kind of change that this series need - something that work against the pattern - not just the alternate chapters that the author featured in this book.
In my opinion, the predictability of story clearly shows that the author is using an easy, lazy way to create something that is "suppose" to be new, but the truth is, in the end of the day, all we get is the same old story with some minor changes and that clearly is not enough. Cheated, that is how Last Breath make me feel as I graduated to its final page.

No spoilers - if you like the supernatural this is a great series. This series is very hard to put down. I recommend starting with the first book, Glass Houses and be sure you have the rest: The Dead Girls Dance, Midnight Alley, Feast of Fools, Lord of Misrule, Carpe Corpus, Fade Out, Kiss of Death, Ghost Town, Bite Club, Last Breath, Black Dawn, Bitter Blood, Fall of Night, Daylighters.

For a moment, the author had frightened me. I was shocked when one of the main characters had died. I thought the character would become like Michael Glass. But of course, Rachel Caine just knew how to put her readers on the edge of the cliff. I liked this installment, but I wanted a more climactic ending.

I bought the first Morganville Vampire book on a whim at an airport. I liked it; it was a quick, fun read. And that's why I continued to read the series, it's a good series to just escape too as long as you don't expect much out of them. They aren't brilliantly written and they aren't going to make you really think. But sometimes that's just what we need.
However, with these last couple installments, I've found myself less and less happy with these books. It seems to me that Caine is just using gimmicks such as switching points of view religiously among other things that I won't go into to avoid spoilers.
I will probably keep reading these books in hopes that the series will end well but that's not what I'm really expecting.

Another amazing book in the Morganville series! In fact I think this may have been my favorite one yet. I am going to be so extremely sad when this series comes to an end, but with all the action and drama this book cooked up I can't even imagine what the last few will bring, but I can't wait to read them. :)

I cannot personally judge this book but can say that my daughter loves all of thes books in this series and we have sent many of them to her at college and she has said that she loved reading them and has passed them on to her friends at college who have also said they have thoroughly enjoyed them.

Love this book! Love this series! Claire is smart and deadly. Love the combination. Claire and her eclectic group of friends are my kind of people. Rachel Caine has some interesting stories revolving around these characters and I love all of it. The humor, the excitement, and the loving relationships. Great, great series. I can't get enough.

The Morganville Vampires and scooby crew face yet another adversary to their happy existence. I like the story plot, it is plausible. Yet I think the characters are getting bogged down. They are too limited. In the beginning Claire was a prodigy, so much potential, this is not even touched on here. In earlier books there was progression for her character and hints that she may be more than she seems, her having Myrnin's blood in her, the house so attuned to her emotions, being the youngest in the college with a yearning for learning. I don't like the fact that when she was put in the same situation found in earlier books as another housemate that she was given a choice on what her outcome would be, it should have been inevitable, that the only way she could remain with her friends was one choice, and one choice only. I was dissapointed.
That being said, I hope the next book will carry them into the future that has been laid out for them, if they intend on staying together...

last Breath is book ten in the Morganville Vampire Series. It is just as captivating as one thru nine. You will be on the edge of your seat trying to find out what comes next. Rachel Caine knows how to reel you in and hold on tight. Watch out though this one's a tear jerker!
