The Pearl Trilogy is among the very first series I read in the E-Rom genre. When I was looking for something to cure my three-month-long FSOG perpetual re-read, I turned to Arianne Richmonde to save me. Just when I didn't think there would ever been room in my life for anyone but Christian Grey, along came Alexandre Chevalier! Christian who?
Alexandre Chevalier is pure, unadulterated, make-no-apologies Sex On Legs. He's 25, he's French, and he falls fast and hard for beautiful, 40-year-old, neo-virgin, Pearl Robinson. Through Alexandre, Pearl learns things about herself she never would have imagined. Her journey of self-discovery left me breathless and wondering where I could find my own Alexandre. And author Arianne Richmonde ties it all up with a beautiful HEA in book three that had me turning off my Kindle, sighing contentedly, and then going back to book one to start the journey all over again, because I just wasn't ready to leave them yet.
The Pearl Trilogy is told from Pearl Robinson's POV, so we experience everything from her perspective - from the moment she first lays eyes on Alexandre in a coffee shop in New York City, through the ups, downs, and challenges brought on by their respective mistrusts and miscommunications, as well as those caused by Alexandre's meddling sister, Sophie, and finally to the beautiful HEA they both so deserved. Pearl views Alexandre as an intelligent, self-contained, self-confident, wise-beyond-his-years man. His sanguine (if not a bit aloof) disposition is intriguing and attractive. Through the evolution of their love for one another, Alexandre gives Pearl the confidence she needs to deal with a tragedy in her past that has haunted her for years, and he does it in such a loving, passionate and compassionate way, that by the end of the series, I was as in love with Alexandre as Pearl was. I suppose that's why when I heard Ms. Richmonde was going to give us this beautiful love story from Alexandre's POV, I simply couldn't wait to read it.
Wow! Be careful what you wish for, because being in the headspace of Alexandre Chevalier is, in a word, complicated. Alexandre views nearly every encounter differently than Pearl does. There were times when I was actually a little confused at how vastly his observations juxtaposed hers. Was I even reading the same story? Honestly, I found myself becoming a little irritated with him on occasion, especially during their early romantic and physical encounters. He processes things so differently than I expected having only had Pearl's characterization of him. Don't worry, I still love him; I just now understand him on a different level.
Until the day he meets the beautiful Mrs. Robinson, Monsieur Chevalier has lived a difficult, troubled and complex existence. We learn a bit about his childhood in the first three books of the series, but I had no concept of how deep and damaging those experiences really were. Alexandre goes there, and he takes the reader with him. Before, I saw Alexandre as Pearl's "knight" in shining armor. But their relationship is so much deeper - it's a wholly symbiotic and mutually liberating connection. It's true that Alexandre rescued Pearl, but she rescued him right back.
Arianne Richmonde gives us some deep and dark images of this enigmatic man. In some ways, Alexandre is still quite an adolescent - perhaps because of his difficult upbringing - while in other ways, he's so sophisticated, cultured and mature, he could be twice his age. I wonder now if I know more about the man than Pearl even does. And we're not finished yet. Pearl ended with a scene that had me holding my breath - one we were not privy to from Pearl's perspective, because it didn't involve her, so she didn't know it happened. And the cunning Ms. Richmonde has the audacity to make us wait, (thankfully not too long), for the outcome.
Pearl was written to be read either before or after the Pearl Trilogy. There are minimal, if any spoilers. If you haven't read books one, two and three, you can read Pearl first. Then, while you're waiting for Pearl, book two, read the Pearl Trilogy in its entirety. It will fill in the gaps, and give you the story from her perspective. It will also help pass the time.
Five stars. Because Alexandre is worth every one of them!

I read The Pearl Trilogy and absolutely LOVED it. The Pearl Trilogy was written from the heroine's, Pearl, point of view. Arainne Richmonde decided to release this series from the hero's, Alexandra, point of view, and Pearl is the first installment of this two part story. This is the first time I've read a story that was re-told from the other main character's point of view. It was very interesting learning Alexandre's thoughts and feelings. This book grabbed me every bit as much as the books in The Pearl Trilogy. I loved hearing Alexandre's sexy thoughts and I felt it brought so much more sensuality to an already erotic read. We learned many more facts about him: how he became the man that he is, how all the other woman in his life acted and treated him and how much Pearl meant to him and why he fell so hard for her. I fell in love with him even more, because I KNEW what was on his mind. I have to say that Alexandre is one SEXY well-endowed man and he knows how to pleasure a woman. He goes beyond the normal to make sure she is pleasured in many ways before he takes his own release. This book is definitely a scorcher!
The ending left me anxious to find out how Alexandre is going to deal with all the woman who can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that he is spoken for. I'm happy that the wait for part two in this series won't be too long. It should be released sometime in October 2013.
If you love your erotic romances with an older heroine and a sexy younger male hero, with a REALLY good story line, fantastic characters, twists and turns to keep your interest, then I HIGHLY recommend you read these books.
Book 1 ~ Shades of Pearl
Book 2 ~ Shadows of Pearl
Book 3 ~ Shimmers of Pearl
Or, you can also buy The Pearl Trilogy, the entire series in one book. When you're done and find yourself wanting more like me, make sure you check out Pearl, part 1 of Alexandre's point of view. I guarantee that he will heat you up as much as he did me...YUM!

Review:
In Pearl we get into the complex mind of Alexandre. If you have read The Pearl Trilogy than you already know and love this sexy young French billionaire. He had me under his spell early on in Shades of Pearl (book 1 of The Pearl Trilogy) and I couldn't wait to get his POV.
First I would like to mention that although it is not necessary to read The Pearl Trilogy first, I highly recommend it. I cannot say how the character development would feel if I just read Pearl because I had already read the other side of the story--and could not unknow the characters to tell you. But Mrs. Richmonde's writing is expressive and highly detailed so I'm sure it could be enjoyed as a standalone.
Alexandre *sigh* is so unbelievably dream worthy. And, he is a veritable god in bed. Considering this is an Erotica novel, we get to know him very intimately. *swoon*
"I put my hand on her bare thigh and let it rest there, tapping my finger very lightly to the beat of the music. She whimpered. Very, very quietly. Almost imperceptibly but I caught it. I had her. But I still wouldn't f*** her that night. No, I'd make her wait."
I loved being in his head. I was privy to all his insecurities--for which I didn't even know he had any, and his overwhelming passion and love for Pearl. He was such a tortured soul, but a beautiful and pure one too. He was loyal and honest to a fault, getting taken advantage of by the many women in his life for this reason. And that is a perspective we don't get to see in The Pearl Trilogy--his other women. No he is not a cheater, but he has slept with so many women that the ones from his past are creeping up after he falls for Pearl.
"You see, women like the fantasy of being f***ed. Rough. Hard. With no mercy. They even like to imagine being tied up, whipped and chastised. But in reality, they're just looking for one true thing.
And that one true thing's called love.
It's easy for a guy to f***. Easy to play the rough and tough b*stard that women often fall for. What's hard is to not be a b*stard. Not to be a jerk."
Then there was Laura ;( I knew from The Pearl Trilogy what a horrendous person Laura was, but wow--we really get a closer look at her in this book. And if possible she is worse than I already thought.
I am NOT a fan of cliffhangers. And Pearl has a doozy--I mean one of the worst I have ever come across. We are in the middle of an "edge of my seat" scene and BAM--to be continued. I was like NOOOOOO!!! And you would think I already know what happens but I don't. This was not mentioned in the previous books, and it's killing me not knowing!!!!
The second half of the story will be releasing next month so at least I don't have to wait long to find out what happened.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Alexandre! I have been looking forward to reading this book and I can say without a doubt...it was worth the wait! Hearing the love story of Pearl and Alexandre told from Alexandre's POV just put it all together for me. To be able to know everything that he was thinking made me fall in love with him even more. You can read Pearl as a stand alone story but for me, reading The Pearl Trilogy beforehand made this book even better.
Alexandre is young, gorgeous and wealthy and isn't really looking for a relationship. Though he starts singing a different tune when he meets the beautiful and sweet Pearl at a coffee shop. Sparks fly immediately and their love story begins. Oh yeah, did I mention that Alexandre is 25 years old and Pearl is 40? The way Alexandre describes her, she looks barely 30 and is absolutely stunning. I mentioned in my review of The Pearl Trilogy how I loved how Richmonde wrote a story about a younger man and an older woman...it was quite refreshing to say the least :)
Alexandre is not only charming but he is the epitome of a true gentleman. Due to Richmonde's wonderful writing, I was able to see and feel just how much Alexandre loves and respects Pearl. Remembering what Pearl was thinking and feeling as well (from The Pearl Trilogy) made for a wonderful and exciting read. I honestly read this book in one sitting. I truly could not put it down.
Alexandre learned at an early age how a man should always treat a woman with the utmost respect. The only problem he has currently, is treating his sister with that same respect. She pushes him past his limits throughout the story and it was wonderful to see how he finally comes to blows with her. I have to say, I was pretty proud of him. But his sister is the LEAST of his concerns considering all the turmoil he has to deal with. No worries, I won't be given any spoilers away ;)
Should I even go into the hot and steamy sex scenes??? Umm...YES!!! I was absolutely melting while reading about all the wicked wicked things Alexandre was thinking and doing to Pearl. WOW!!!
So...I guess you can gather by my review that Pearl is a book that everyone should definitely read. I would suggest reading The Pearl Trilogy first but it is not a necessity. Trust me though, it really made for a more intense story knowing what Pearl was thinking and feeling while reading all the emotions that Alexandre was feeling. I came to realize that the two of them are just about perfect for one another. Oh and by the way....Richmonde leaves you waiting with bated breath for the second part of Pearl to be released! She is killing me....in a good way though ;)
Enjoy...I know I did!

Pearl by Arianne Richmond is told in Alexandre's POV. I am a big fan of reading books in a different POV. I enjoy being able to get in another characters head. Alexandre's story is a lot different then Pearl's. Plus it was nice that it didn't follow the first book to the tee, Alexandre's perception didn't follow Pearl's and why would it. They are two different characters with two totally different views on what happened. They weren't together the entire time and I liked being alone with Alexandre and having him all to myself. Another good thing is that you don't have to read the first book in the Pearl Trilogy. This can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend you read it at some point because the story is quite good.
Alexandre is a billionaire and his social media sight hooked up is very successful. He has no problem finding a women because they seem to follow him wherever he goes. Once he meets Pearl he is determined to have her and once he gets to know her he wants way more. Pearl being somewhat older then him doesn't deter him at all. They have plenty of ups and downs and Alexandre somewhat tumultuous past may hinder their happiness. Pearl and Alexandre definitely have an explosive chemistry like no other.
I have to say that Alexandre's is far from a complicated man. In this first book in his point of view we find that he enjoys the ladies. Pearl isn't any different in the very beginning and once sparks start to fly he can't help but be addicted to her. We see how Pearl's emotions affected his feelings for her and that was a very important part of this story. She steals his heart and falls in love with him. It is at times heart wrenching to see. When he finally claims her as his it is such an intimate moment that you can't help but fall in love with them.
I enjoyed this book as much as and maybe even more then the Trilogy. I would recommend this book and suggest you read the Trilogy because this really is a series you don't want to miss.

This series stands out as a refreshing change to the usual "tormented billionaire with kink going on meets sweet young girl, who is totally clueless about her innate sexual attraction, & they live happily ever after" formula.
Pearl Robinson is the older woman who falls in love with a young wealthy entrepreneur who is 15 years her junior. Viewed from the opposite angle, that is an older man & younger woman, 15 years is almost nothing. (My dad was 22 years older than my mom & my stepdad was 14 years older.) But Pearl faces resistance from Alexandre's sister, who bluntly refers to her as a cougar. The sister's hostility causes no end of grief, to say nothing of adding a potentially disastrous twist to pearl's sexuality.
The writing is crisp & easy to follow. I enjoyed the development of the characters, although Pearl does not always put her years of wisdom to use. Her brother is hands down the least likable person, even worse than Alexandre's sister. She at least has some justification for her behavior - she's spent most of her life looking out for her brother. Pearl's brother is just plain mean.
The companion book, "Belle Pearl", I found utterly irritating. It is a rehash of "Pearl" from Alexandre's viewpoint. It turns out neither he nor his sister are very nice people.

Absolutely, I mean absolutely the BEST male POV ever!!!!
I'm not going to lie I was really nervous about reading this book because I was so disappointed in Walking Disaster and Losing Hope. I loved the Pearl Trilogy so I was hoping by reading Pearl (Alexandre POV) that the author wouldn't disappoint me. I didn't want to pick up this book just to re-read what I already had. Well the author did not disappoint me at all..I have never read a male POV and feel so connected to it. I mean even though I know what happens I still found myself biting my nails and getting nervous.. There were lots of WTF moments. The one absolute thing I loved about this book is that the author answers all kinds of questions I had from the Pearl Trilogy.
In the Pearl Trilogy Alexandre would go on long business trips and I always wondered what happened on those trips..well in this book you find out. There were also a ton of conversations with his sister that we never knew what was said.. well again in this book the author gives you the answer.
There is a part in the Pearl Trilogy were Alexandre gives Pearl this beautiful pearl necklace with a note about the pearls but because Pearl's door man was gone she didn't get it for a week and she calls to apologies .. well in this book we find out where it comes from and how he reacts to not hearing from her about it.
Also another thing there is a part in the trilogy where his sister calls him and after he gets off the phone he leaves Pearl crying..well in this book we found out exactly what was said.. EEEKKK!!!
What and amazing job to be able to write Alexandre POV and still make us wonder what's going to happen.. The thing you find out about Alexandre makes you do a double take to make sure it's the same guy..I hated Laura in the trilogy but it took some time to grow and hate her but not in this book you hate her real quick.. and man what an ending.. can't wait for the next one but like I said this leaves you on the edge of your seat even though I knew what happened..

Noemi - Well I really liked reading Alexandre's POV and can't wait for part 2 to come out. Arianne killed me with the ending of part 1!!!!! It's a 4.5 stars for me.
Jillian - I enjoy this book! I give it 4 Stars
Saffron - I just thought it was okay. 3 stars for me. Even without the background, I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters and wasn't impressed by Alexandre. No swooning for me. But I finished it and I'll probably read the next one because of this ending.

I loved the Pearl Trilogy. Reading the story from Pearl Robinson's POV allowed us to see things in a very emotional way. Pearl, on the other hand, is told from Alexandre Chevalier's POV. I liked that even though it's the same story, in a sense, it is very different. We get to see the way Alexandre sees, feels, and reacts to certain events that we've already experienced, but most of the book is about things that happen when Pearl is not around, things that she has no idea about. This allows the reader to really look into Alexandre's mind and experience things with him and see how he really feels for Pearl.
If I loved him in the original trilogy, I absolutely adore him now.

Arianne has accomplished something rarely done in romance...let us see both sides of the coin(not Alexandre's expensive coin)but the romance from the male perspective. As I got into this book, I didn't think I could enjoy something as much as I did the trilogy, but Ms Richmonde has done it again and left me hanging for more...glad "Belle Pearle" will be out soon, can't wait...especially with the ending she left us with.
