Easy accessible, clearly written with many colorful diagrams. A great reference source in help understanding complex genetic implications and terminology that can be overwhelming to the novice and even more experienced DNA test taker.

Excellent for the beginner to use but has more advanced topics as well. Best to use before the Genetic Genealogy in Practice unless you've had some education in genetics. A must to learn the vocabular.

Good introduction to genetic genealogy which has greatly expanded since 2010.
I must add to this review. Do not get the Kindle version or any e-version. It has charts and graphs that are unreadable on the Kindle. In fact, this advice would apply to ANY book with charts, graphs, or illustrations. Kindle tries to handle this but when you touch to expand then try to return to the place you left off, you are lost.
If you are at all interested in the very technical aspect of genealogical/genetic testing of DNA, get this book ONLY in paper.

This is a well-written and comprehensive book that should be on every beginner's bookshelf, and it's great too for those who've been working with DNA testing and genetic genealogy for a while. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

This is the best genetic genealogy book I have seen to date. I highly recommend it. No matter where you are on the learning curve this book will move you up a bit, perhaps several bits. Readable and enjoyable!
