Really great, A well written novel that once started you didn't want to put down.
The author had taken the time to write a story that kept the reader interested until the last page
It had me guessing to the end although I did suspect the killer but not in the way it ended up.
Thanks a great book

I like books with more ghosty stuff than romance, but this one was still interesting. Romance was the main topic, but ghosty took second. Just enough spooky to keep me interested. It got a little weird with the past lives stuff, but hey... it was well explained so I went with it. Worth the read.

Jenessa arrives back in her hometown after her father dies. Laid off she accepts a reporting job and begins to reconnect to her friends and family. The romance is very well done and the community of secondary characters are stellar and pivotal to the story. The mystery involves everyone and is well thought out.

Wonderful murder mystery with a cast of characters right out of Peyton Place. Some of you will remember it. Lol. The story is full of love, mystery and betrayal. Loved it. Looking forward to read the rest of the books by this author.

I just finished this book & loved it it was really good mystery/ romance combined
I couldn't wait to find out who did it !
And a plus the pages weren't fill with F bombs or explicit sex scenes... she relied on her story to tell itself
Good characters
This is my first Debra Burroughs read and definitely will look for more of her books!
Id definitely recommend

Love the main character, Jenesse, a fiesty reporter. All the characters were interesting and believable and the storyline was engrossing. A little touch of handsome hunky policeman didn't hurt either. I really enjoyed the book and am on to the next. This author has me hooked and I'm not usually an easy fish to catch.

Reporter Jenessa Jones returns home on the death of her estranged father only to find herself caught up in a murder investigation. While covering the story she stumbles upon clues that might not only solve the case but put those she loves in the middle of it.

What a great mystery. Had me guessing to the end. The romance and relationships were interesting and also had me wondering if Jenessa would go back to Logan or realize what a better person Michael was. Nice she was able to forgive Logan as it did look like he'd changed and had a good future ahead.

I absolutely loved this book. It was so realistic and I was constantly trying to figure out who did it. I never did which I usually can. I wanted to just keep reading but life would get in the way. Just finished and can't wait to read book two. Thanks for the enjoyment and readers don't miss this one!

Great read, no vulgarity, just a clean story of everyday life. The lives in a small town that all connect somehow. Skeletons in closets are exposed, poignant rediscovery of family and friends, and of course a mystery to solve. Good read especially for someone who likes mysteries
but not a lot of gore and brutality. High school age readers might enjoy this also.

Quite a light hearted novel. Enjoyed the romance as well as the mystery. I was surprised at the final solution but I did think Jenessa was a little too bold with the police as well as the fact that they gave her too much information and allowed her too much freedom in solving the mystery. But all in good fun. I have bought the next two of the series.

I found it interesting and believable. The characters seemed genuine enough. It really wasn't very suspenseful and was a bit predictable. More romance than mystery.. I was hoping for some resolution regarding the child. I also had a hard time understanding her attraction to the man who treated her so badly when she had a nice guy that really cared about het standing on the sidelines.

I thought this book was rather basic. Story line was good but the details were somewhat unbelievable. That this young reporter solved a murder that an experienced detective could not, is a stretch. And boy oh boy does she share her theories with everyone. Not what I suspect a good reporter does until facts are proven. I bought three books in the series so I will see how they fare.

This was a good read. Kind of tidy though. Everything tied up nicely at the end with a little bow. I figured most of it out about half way through but still enjoyed the read. I would read more from this author.

Debra Burroughs has an excellent phraseology. I enjoyed her characters, their depth of each and interaction with each other. There is everything a mystery enthusiast craves, an involved mystery, great characters, a little romance, a crusty detective, intrigue, I know if I thought more I could have few more expletives. Do yourself a great favor, Read This Very Good Book.

I couldn't put down this book. Because the characters are flawed, they are all the more real to us, making the story jump out on every page as something tangible. I cannot wait to read the next installment of the adventures of Janessa Jones.

I enjoyed this totally unrealistic story with nambypamby police detectives and undemanding bosses and characters with loads of time on their hands.... But I still enjoyed reading this story. Clever tidy ending.

This novel was very well written. There were no obvious editing errors which was very nice. The story was well thought out with just enough descriptions of people and scenes to be interesting and yet left room for the reader to use their imagination. Thank you Debra Burroughs for a fun read.

The Lake House Secret was a good "romantic mystery". I enjoyed it because even though it was mystery, it also had a good clean romance element. It was one of those stories where there's a happy ending for all or for most.

A great suspense story of who murdered a woman 11 years prior to the present time.
It intertwines the lives of several families, and their involvement.
It does a great job of bringing out the good, and the bad in people.
I liked the relationship between the detective, and the reporter, and how the murder was eventually solved.

Janessa returns to the small town where she grew up after the death of her father. She gets a job as a reporter, and soon thereafter a decomposed body is discovered near a lake house that has special memories for her. With the help of 2 local detectives, she tries to find the killer. This is Book 1 of a new series by this author, and is a light read.

The characters are likable, but their behaviors somewhat off. I enjoyed the plot, even though the outcome was predictable. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series so I can see how the characters develop.
