I've collected the entire "The Cat Who..." series because I loved reading the books over and over. They are fun to read. Lilian Jackson Braun has an excellent vocabulary and a fun way with words. She obviously does research on the areas she covers and the time frame she writes about, which is some time ago but within a 60 or 70-year-old's recollection. Her murder mysteries center on an eccentric and very rich bachelor who has lady friends but never marries. He's constant in his own way to a woman who likes her own job and her own space. There's quiet affection and only the hint of sex, but never a blow-by-blow. The candle is blown out and we all tip-toe away. That is it. Some books are better than others. Some are rip-roaring fun! This one is one of the better ones, if I remember right.

All those poor reviews neglect to mention when this final Cat Who... book was published, Lilian Jackson Braun was in her 94th year. I hope I can do as well when that time comes. I loved the final book. Yes, it wandered, yes, it was disjointed, but I had no trouble following the mystery, and appreciated the mentions of people I remembered fondly from previous books as well as the twists in Qwill's life. I read the final page not with disappointment, but with sorrow, and gratitude. Ms. Braun lived only another 4 years after the publication of '60 Whiskers'

It was not cohesive, jumped all over the place. I hate that Polly just gave up her cats and said adios to Quill. I hate that the barn burned down. What was LJB thinking? It should have ended on a lighter, happier note in my opinion, especially after reading all the books in the series. What a let down.

Disappointing! More gossip than crime/mystery solving. Situations brought up left unaddressed. Nice cats, but the author lost it. Too bad... I have read all "The Cat Who...." books, but I guess this is the end of the line, even if she writes any others (which I doubt she will). Can she get zero stars?

I usually really enjoy the "Cat Who..." books and buy them, but I am finding that her books are getting smaller and smaller. Lots of blank pages to make the book seem longer. There wasn't much of a mystery either and it really wasn't solved. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I hope future books are more interesting.

This is a short book, which is probably because the author's health problems interfered with the ending. For about the first three-quarters of the book, the style was very much the old Lilian Braun, if perhaps a bit hasty in places because it had to recap so much past history as background. Publishers always require that, for new readers, and authors never want to waste room doing it. But the final one-quarter was sketchy, and the direction it took at first upset me very much. I slept badly the night after reading it, and returned to the book the next day to re-read the ending to see if it really said what I thought it had. I felt much better after that, because Qwill really is better off at the end of the book. It is just the hasty telling of the ending that made it difficult for me to see that at first reading. I knew he was not entirely happy with one aspect of his life, but hadn't realized how much he had tired of another. Good for the author, to release him to be happy at the end of the series.

I reread this book because I enjoyed this author's writings. I can't remember how many "Cat Who" books I have read and/or reread. They are always fun. These books do have murder involved. But I don't get blood splashed all over my uniform. And the Cat always finds a way to communicate "Who dunnit"

This is a favorite series of mine. The author has loyal readers because the characters and imaginary town are familiar and welcome in mystery after mystery tale. The charms of two Siamese cats pleases cat lovers. Light and a great relaxing read. Check out the rest of the series.

So many changes in Qwilleran's life happened in this book. But is it really the end of the series? Almost 30 books and it ends on a cliffhanger? :-(
But I loved the book ... indeed the entire series. I read them through about every couple of years. Wonderfulness!

When you want a friendly comfort book kind of like a bowl of mac and cheese this is one to read. The characters are interesting but somehow familiar at the same time and of course the cats are as cats are, always mysterious and independent thinkers.

Brauns books are like peanuts. Once you read the first one (the cat who could read backwards) you have to read them all. Read them in order and follow Mr. Q as he solves crimes and has adventures with his 2 sidekicks-2 Siamese cats

Like all of her books, this one was good...highly recommend the entire series. I binge-read them all and enjoyed the process. I highly recommend do that...read them in order, one after the other, and it all makes sense.

I really enjoy this author and I believe they chose the perfect narrator George Guidall. He does a great job. I just wish I had whole collection. I like to listen to them when I am cooking in the kitchen.

These books are always witty and never too serious. They are never in my high list of favorites, but I never hesitate to read one when I can. I know I'll be amused, entertained, and feel better at the end.

The latest book in the Cat Who... series is entertaining as previous books in the series but leaves more questions than answers. Would have liked more definitive conclusions to several of the story lines.

This book was terrible! I love the cat who series but the author must have lost her mind. She had a mystery she didn't really solve, important characters she treated badly, other important items she treated badly and just a poorly written book. Very sad! I wish her editor would have stopped her. Why wreck a good series?

Excellent "cozy mystery". Not silly. But fun. Well thought out. Disliked losing a building at the end. Glad to see the last of a particular character at the end. Someone needs to continue with fan fiction!!

Although the characters are still vibrant, the plot was not quite the quality of some of the earlier ones. However, there are a couple of surprises and a major change in Qwilleran's life, which will be interesting to longtime followers of the adventures of KoKo.
