This is obviously an easy read, written to a well-known romantic formula. In the first chapters the author tried just a little too hard to be funny, and it came across as forced. I almost put the book down. But then things improved, and the descriptions of the cottages and the café in Dorset drew me in against my will! This is not my usual kind of read, but I admit I did enjoy it. The "Comfort Food Café" is actually a concept which could work in small villages! Laura, the protagonist, tells this tale in the first person. She comes across as somewhat scatty, with a kind heart. (It IS a formula, after all!) The characters are all pleasant people, with not a bitch in sight. This is one for reading when you need a feel-good book and you do not expect great insights or literary pretensions. Enjoyable, if formulaic.

This was a funny, yet moving book about families recovering from the loss of loved ones and a community that comes together to take care of their own. Made me laugh out loud and also cry at times. I would read it again.

My friend recommended this book to take on my vacation. I'm so glad she did. It was a heartwarming, light-hearted novel with romance sprinkled in and it held my attention from the very first sentence. I highly recommend it.

This story starts a bit slow, but develops into a lovely tale. By the time it ends, you only wish there really was such a place as the Comfort Fod Cafe and town and resort like this and you could move to it.

I really enjoyed this book the characters were well established in the beginning drawing you in to keep reading. I love the descriptive language used for the surroundings, felt like I was there. Great escape from reality.

While some editors might cringe at the author's use of shifting tenses and other writing no-nos, I could easily look beyond it because the writing was so fresh, creative, and downright funny. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book and will make a point to read this author's other work.
