This is such a great educational series for kids!
Even though they are fiction books, there are learning experiences from the events. My daughter loves them and I know they are popular at her school.

Grandson was thrilled when he received this set of books. He is familiar with the "I Survived Books" from his school library. When I ordered I didn't realize the fun box and surprise gift that came with the books . He was beyond happy! Highly recommend these books. He is in 2nd grade as a guide, his sister in 4th grade liked them as well.

My 9 year old just started reading this series in her 4th grade class and she loves them. She borrowed one from her classroom, Hurricane Katrina, and it was really the first time I have ever seen her sit and read without being told 5,000 times to read. She is not my reader, typically its my younger daughter with her nose in a book all the time. I love that these book make it interesting for the kids all while talking about something that has actually happened. To me I think that will lead to them having more interest in our history in general. So after my daughter showed so much interest in the one book, I bought her the set and not only has she been reading them but she has been offering to lend them to her friends which is also cool that the kids are doing this and keeping the interest in reading still there.

A wonderful introduction to historical fiction for school-age kids! Fast-paced and fun to read, with compelling characters in exciting situations. There are a few illustrations and a nice non-fiction bit at the end. Most of the books handle some very "real" issues beyond just avoiding death, and the tone is always respectful and appropriate. These were the starting point of some great conversations with my son. The set comes in a nice box that's fun to open and the "tool" was a nice bonus.
