A decent read. Most zombies books take place during or right after the outbreak. This books deals with the aftermath and "cure".
The book also deals with people who are immune from the virus which is also a different take on the genre. Characters and storyline were interesting.

Another new twist on the ever expanding worlds of the zombie apocalypse. After the cure, without giving spoilers, tells you a little and as you read, imagine if you were a zombie, then cured. How would you cope if you could remember everything you did? There is also the challenge of living as a cured in a world of those who were never infected.

Ms. Gould has written an excellent variation on the usual Zombie Apocalypse novel- what happens afterwards? And if zombies can be cured, what do we do with them? Framed as a mystery novel, the book is really about two people - one, an Immune survivor of the zombie years, the other a cured zombie - as they come to grips with what they did during the eight years since the "December Plague." I really enjoyed the story, and thought Ms. Gould's depiction of the inner thoughts of the characters was excellent. I did have a few quibbles: the fumbling relationship (spoilers?) was a predictable with a telegraphed ending, but I still smiled and rooted for the characters. Also, as a practicing criminal defense lawyer the legal sparring was somewhat off. But overall, an excellent book.
LUSH (a YA Dystopian novel) (A LUSH novel Book 1) :: WWIV - In The Beginning :: A Postapocalyptic Novel (The New World Series) - The Line of Departure :: Flawed: A Novel :: A dystopian novel of our future after a worldwide economic and social collapse

This was a different take on the zombie theme dealing with a cure for the zombies which were caused by a lab experiment, and how those that are cured reacted to their memories of what they had done. Those responsible for causing the infection are put on trial. Great group of characters and a bit of romance for those who like that kind of thing. Was a tiny bit disappointed with the ending though. Definitely a book I would read again.

If only there had been more proofreading and editing - there would have been that extra star. But so very many spelling and grammar errors seriously took away my enjoyment of this story. Yes, details matter! Great story otherwise.

I started to read this story not really expecting much. It didn't take long before I was caught up in the story.
I couldn't put it down. This is one of the best stories that I have found ever.
I encourage everyone to give this story a shot. I believe that you won't be disappointed.

After the Cure was an excellent book. I enjoyed the story and it was very suspenseful right to the very last page. Can't wait till I read the next book in the series! Any one that likes post apocalyptic books should enjoy this series. I chose this ratings because the book is well written.

Definitely a different kind of story. I would say that if you can get past the boring parts and overlook the general errors of the book you should give this a read. I enjoyed the story and spending time trying to figure out how the author would end the book. However, I feel that with better editing it would have made this book worth five stars instead of two.

This book wound up blowing my expectations away. The story takes place after the ZA when scientists have found a cure. It is a mystery, dystopian, survival story all rolled into one, exciting book. The characters were well developed and showed growth as the story progressed. The action was great. The interaction between characters was interesting. Overall, this is quite an innovative story in the genre!

Follow Dr. Nella Rider a psychiatrist after the end of the zombie apocalypse. Mankind has survived. But the traumatic experience is still fresh. In the minds of the survivors and the "cured". Very interesting and new take on the genre. The writing would benefit from a more critical editor but still a very enjoyable read.

I received a digital copy of After The Cure by Dierdre Gould for free in exchange for an honest review.

I rarely read zombie novels because I don't particularly like them, but I have to say this is one I the best in the genre that I have read. I was originally interested in the morality involved in this story but the plot and the characters really drew me in. There are some technical and logistical errors, which is why I knocked off a star, but nothing that should keep someone from enjoying this book. The ending gave me shivers. Highly recommended!

Easy level reading appropriate for large age range in most instances. Genres of Mystery and Solve-It combined with Science Fiction and Horror keep the pages turning.
High-value in the expressions of legal systems and journalistic endeavors, without too much technical jargon.
Lends to interest in spin-off, both within series and in other books/topics.
Well developed characters, dialogue and plot.

This story contained a new twist on the Zombie theme: the zombies could be cured and remember what they did as zombies. Deirdre Gould created believable characters and even slightly sympathetic villains. I thoroughly enjoyed reading After the Cure.

Looks like an interesting story. Unfortunately after browsing about it appears there is only an audiobook book for the first book. With the $7.50 match program and hours a day at work I buy lots of audio books. 5 missed sales on the authors end for only doing the introductory book a service on all formats.

I enjoyed reading this story - despite not having read the one that preceded it . It was really nice to read a zombie story that had a completely different story line than in used to. Look forward to reading more - good characters, too!

I found this book to be a quick attention-getter, offering plenty of page-turning suspense and decent character development. There was enough background provided on the characters to understand their credentials and enough background left vacant to allow for some wondering. The short chapters were appreciated as they allow for many opportunities to set the book down for a bit.

Overall the book was an easy read. I look forward to the next one!

Interesting read about the time after a horrible plague is let loose. The scientist who designed it is imprisoned and is interviewed by his defense team. He lets out the thought that he has also designed another worse plague.

Until the last chapter I was hooked. This book was rounded to a close so quickly with so little finesse it ruined the entire thing for me. To start off so well and then choose to wrap it all up that way is a bit of a disappointment.

This was a fast paced, interesting book. There have been very few zombie novels I've been able to get into, but this is not your average zombie novel. This book was a dystopic plague story with a splash of romance, a notion of zombies, and an evil villain to top things off. Kudos to the author's creativity.

Really cool idea... what is the aftermath once a cure has been found. I wasn't crazy about the sappy romance aspects. Some of this really read like a harlequin romance. And the "secret mission" that the protagonists embarked on was illogical. But, the author gets major points for an original concept.

After the cure caught my attention at first glance and kept it throughout the entire story. It is the first post-apocalyptic book I have started and finished in a while. I found the plot to be highly addictive and fresh, new at least in comparison to what I had read in the past. I'm definitely buying book 2 in the series.

Despite not being a typical action zombie book, I found myself enjoying it! The characters were well drawn, and the entertaining. 4 stars instead of 5 due to some predictable plot devices. Still an enjoyable tale though, so check it out !

I have read me some zombie stories! They are pretty much all the same. This one was a refreshing change of pace! I really liked seeing the side of those who were zombies. There were a few weak areas of the storytelling (hence the 4 star rating) but overall it was a good read and really made me think.

This is a takeoff on the zombie / undead genre with twist - the people aren't really dead and can be cured - hence the title . How they deal w the aftermath is another thing . It is the first in a series but has a clear conclusion so you don't have to go on to get closure . Light reading but I enjoyed .

I have read several 'zombie' books, but never one about reversing the effects. This was such a fascinating read that it was hard to put down. As I figured things out I new how it was gonna turn out, but was surprised at exactly how it happened. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

A great story with a different angle on the outcome of a world ending pandemic. The story is going to just keep getting better as Bella and Frank set sail for new adventures. I think all who enjoy a good end of world thriller will love "After the Cure."

The dialogue was sort of weak, and pretty cheesy & cliche at times. But it was a fresh take on the Zombie virus, and I really enjoyed the many twists the plot took. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the plot turned again. Definitely would read again, and I look forward to the other books in the series

Easy read, really enjoyed it. Definitely my favorite genre at the moment, but sometimes get a little over the constant ‘battles’ in some novels. This one had a bit of that, but not too much - left plenty of time to develop the characters. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Engaging story with good plot development. The novel has unique theme for a zombie novel and it was an enjoyable read. Author tries a little too hard at showing a scene sometimes and the attempt at flowery prose can be offputting.

I really enjoyed reading this book. There were portions of the story that I didn't want to put the book down. Can't wait for the next book in the series. I did expect that there would have been a little more zombie action, but since the book is post apocalypse, the limited zombie experience wasn't too bad. The book makes you anticipate and consider the futures of the different characters in book, beyond the ending.

I would highly recommend this book to adults and mature young adults.

I'm not a fan of zombie apocalypse anything, this book was free and I missed that fact before reading. Regardless, this book was easy reading, written well and zombie subject side, overall a decent read.
