Bit on the fence about this book, remembered loving it as a child but when I read it to my daughter realised how horribly outdated it is and not the best ethically balanced storyline in this very pc world we live in!

I adore the Little Golden Book classics. This story is great for kids of all ages. Adults should read these books to their little ones, so the classic stories don't get lost in video games, TV, and the Internet.

I thought this would be a good potty training book, but after reading it to my son he has started peeing under the mattress and insisting that he is a princess. Which, if true, would be kind of cool.

Sooo, this book is basically saying you're not good enough to be a princess unless you are SO dainty, you can feel a pea through 50 mattresses? I had not read this since childhood and didn't realize just how terrible the message is. This will be going in the trash - its garbage.

A snobbish prince thinks no female is good enough for him. A princess shows up and she can't sleep over a tiny pea which shows that she is appropriately snobbish enough and good enough to marry this guy.
Seriously, what is the point of this story besides letting small children know that a woman has to be good enough in order for someone to want to marry her?

A very nice story (a real traditional children's story). We have read it several times already. Considering I am reading it to my grandchildren and they aren't here full time - it tells how much they love the story. You can't miss with this traditional storybook.

My girls (ages 3 and 6) love everything about princesses. They love princess dress up. They love princess movies. They love princess books. When I saw this classic Princess story re-released as a Little Golden Book, I jumped at the chance to get it for them. I was happy to introduce them to probably one of the most famous princess stories of them all and they loved it. Highly Recommended!
