Emporer Mage is a awesome book, I've reread it about two or three times, and I'll probably reread some more! I love Tamora Pierce's books, I recheck them out at the library a lot. I love how, in this book she goes to Carthak and heals the emporer's birds, it is just SO awesome. I love how she gets right into the story and explains things as she goes along, this is one of my favorite books. I think it is neat how she gets all mad over getting told Numair was killed. I love how she ruined the castle, she didn't go over board. Anyone that likes books with magic and adventure and fantasy should read these books, they will love them. In fact, they will love all of her books!

The setting of Carthak gave Empire Mage a different flavor from all the other Tortall books, which I liked very much. The threatning backdrop and the trickly negotiations of deplomacy complimented quite well Daine's own story, where all she wishes to do is help Orzon's birds but she still finds herself being used by both a Goddess and the Empire himself for both of their differnt ends. Well, Daine cannot stand for that, now can she? Just as in the other books, Daine is the loveable girl with a streak of independance who does things her way, not theirs. And yes, I did like Varice. I will not give away the scene, but let us just say that there is more to her than a ditzy blonde who arranges parties.

Another excellent book by Ms. Pierce. I really want to know how she learned to write like that! Ms. Pierce made me feel like I was actually Daine. I mean, when I read about Diane getting drugged, it made me so mad. I wanted to kill him. It was so satisfying to read about Daine destroying the palace. I was sad when I heard about Numair dying, and it made me hate Ozorne even more. When Daine lost her temper when she heard about Numair, it made me think there could be something between them(?!). After I read this book, I knew I had to read all of Ms. Pierce's books. This book is amazing, you have to read it!
By the way, I HATE Ozorne.

This is by far the best book in The Immortals series so far. I like how Pierce has brought us into a new setting with new characters. The events in this book are what the last two book in the series have set up- the final conflict with Cathark.
Another thing I noticed is there are hints of romance between Numair and Daine that foreshadow what will come in the next book. It is very predictable that this would happen.
Overall this is a very enticing book that is hard to put down once you start it. It is one of the best of Pierce's books that I have read so far.

Here she is again folks, but this time she's all the way across the Inland Sea. Coming with a royal envoy (which includes familiars such as the Gareths, Alanna, and Numair)she plans to try and heal the emperor's ailing birds with her magic. Little does she know what will happen to her there. Some examples are making a friend who is not on this century's "Top 9999 Good-Smelling Vertebrates List",and recieving several godly visits. In this book,Daine, with some help, will wreak havoc on the world of book reviews.

... with reason. Although it was very good, and it stayed true to what I expect of Mrs. Pierce's writing, I had a little more trouble getting into it. This was mostly becasue Daine was in an environment she didn't belong in at all. It didn't ruin the story or anything, but it made it harder to push along. I just kept waiting for her to deal with those aweful characters and then go home. I missed Cloud and Onua.
However, the story was still very good. I did enjoy it, but not as much as the first. I still recommend it, however. You have to read all of the series - It goes together great.

Book 3 in the Immortals series
This book continues the stories of Daine and Numair and here they venture to Carthak. Many other characters from the other TP books appear here making it even more interesting to TP fans. The Tortallans are attending a conference to try and make peace amidst many signs from the gods of an impending crisis.
This book is so much better than book 2. My favourite part is the Hall of Bones as TP explores the history of her universe and creates her own version of dinosaurs.

That... that... VILE emporer! I would have to be Deaf, Dumb and Blind to not realize how I was so malicously... UGHH! He makes me soooooo mad, I can't even say! Though I supose that's good, if ONE SINGLE CHARACTER IN THIS BOOK can make me want to kill him. The nicer characters, however, they are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only way to describe anything in this book to someone who hasn't read it is with !!!'s. This should tell you something:
READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT!

Emperor Mage has just become my absolute favorite book. It was exciting and emotional and held my attention from the time I picked it up at 8 PM last night until I finished the last page, tears rolling down my cheeks the next morning, realizing I had been reading all night. The one time I wanted to throw the book down was when Daine learned of Numair's -- well... the rules said no spoilers so I guess I'd better stop, but I will say I was glad later I had continued. I can't wait to start the next one!

The Immortals Quartet is one of my favorite series of books. I'd personally have to say, this is my favorite of the four of 'em. There is a lot of everything that should be expected of a Tamora Pierce book. Daine goes along with the Royal Commitee that is supposed to negotiate peace with Tortall's neighbor Carthak because the Emporer's birds are ill. There's the humor, outrage, happiness, etc. that's necessary for a good book. Emporer Mage is a great great great book!

One thing Tamora Pierce does very well, is load her books with characters that we can really relate with. I mean, who hasn't had a really embarrassing moment when you do something horribly impetuous, and everyone is gaping at you? Also, it's nice how the story unfolds; you can look back, and say "ah yes, this happened, because of this," and not think that your copy has a chunk missing, because you don't understand what in the world is going on. The way human emotion is incorporated is excellent too, from the evil, false Ozorne, to Numair's fierce protectiveness of his "magelet," to Daine's reaction when she is told of his death (man, I wish I can destroy palaces like that!). And finally, it's a very good link to the past two books, and the next (Realms of the Gods). It tells of her past adventures, and it hints at what is going to happen next (for example, you just know Numair's not just protective because he's CONCERNED...). In short, EXCELLENCE.

Daine goes to another country to try and makes peace, all goes well till the emperor starts getting warnings from the gods and blames the coming of them on Numair, which leads to trouble with the emperor. there are new faces and adventures in here for Daine, she gets to meet some friends like a professer that was Numair, and some not so nice like Virace(is that how you spell it?)Kingsford. But luckily it turns out for the best and you notice a spark between Daine and Numair that will make you want to hear more about them. It makes you want to get the other books and find out what happens next, so I hope you can enjoy them all!

Ignoring the occasional cheesiness to it, this book and the first in the seris are undoubtably the best. The story is well thought out and spaced excellently through the book, with elements of humor, suspense, and some real fear. The characters are absolutely cunning and perfectly thougt out and I liked that they had to go to another country besides Tortall and the way that the new customs were described. All in all, a great book!

i am suprised that this series hs been sooooo interesting so far.for the people that wonder if there is anyting going on between daine and numair i think that is possible.even though that would be really weard cuz daine is onlylike,what,16 and numair is in his like 20's-40's i think. i think ta NUMAIR likes daine bt daine likes someone from Tortall. the series is REALLY interesting but it could use some more romace.i am aboutt read the last book in the series:(
i wis there are more books in the series!

This quartet is Tamora's best yet! I love all the characters and plots, its sooo good! Anyway, about Emperor Mage, it has gotta be one of my favorite books of all times! I love the new setting, and the new characters, especially Kaddar. Emperor Ozorne is a pain in the you-know-what but thats nothing new! The Graveyard Hag is kinda annoying. There's something going on with those two! A must-read!

In this book Daine goes to Carthak to heal the emperor's birds and to sign a peace tready. This book is awesome, Daine meets new people (including a goddess) and learns who her dad is. I love this book, it just sucks you into it and you can't stop until its done. There is a part that shocked me though, Numairs old girlfriend pays a visit to his room! They dont say much about it but it still shocks and confuses the reader. I wasnt to happy with Numair afterwards, but the 4th book makes it all up!
Over all this is an exciting and amazing book. If you love fantasy you will be DEFINITLY LIKE THIS BOOK. If you haven't read the first to read them FIST. THIS SERIES IS AMAZING!!

The Immortals series is my second faverotie series by Tamora Pierce, and I love it. I love animals, so Daine is is like a dream for me. Many times I have wanted to be her. If you love th Immortals Series, I almost guaranty that you will love this one!

when i bought this book i was expecting it to be the best book in the series because thats what a lot of reviews had said, but it isnt really. it is the second best, along with "wild magic" the only reason i like this book beter than WM is because of the end when the reader starts to see that Numair loves Daine. which i have been waiting for sence the middle of the second book. Tamora Pierce hints it out so much it makes you go crazy because you cant read faster to see what happens. if you are a T.P fan you probably know what i am talking about.

anyways this book is amazing and you have to read it!!!

The third book in the series, Emperor Mage continues to follow Daine as she travels to the court of His Most Serene Highness Emperor of Carthak King of Siraj… you get the idea. Between a dire warning from her friend the badger god, and and being near the emperor who has had "imperial claws hooked all over Tortall" Daine is on edge the whole visit. Oh yeah, and there's that mysterious gift... One things for sure, this is going to be a wild and crazy visit.

i couldn't believe it when i finished reading the book. It was amazing!! The book was so good i did the whole house work just so mum can drive me to the book store and buy the next book. But i could so tell that Numair loved Dain, i mean it was so obvious (the last book is amazing involving those 2). I wish that i found Tamora pierce's books earlier. But what was kinda funny was that i thought something was going to happen between Dain and Kaddar so i was sort of waiting for that, nothing happened though (which was still good). The 'Emperor Mage' was so good that the whole story about Dain, wouldn't be the same. But I've got 2 admit, all the books was excellent. i really like 'the wolf-speaker' and 'The Immortals'( i think because 'the immortals' had romance)
i advise that everyone should read this book.

I have always been a lover of animals and magic. When I discovered Tamora Pierce and The Immortals Series I couldn't keep my hands off them! I just finished Emporer Mage. Daine and a few nobles of Tortall go to Carthak, the land that Tortall has less than the best relationship with. Here she meets Kaddar the surprisingly friendly heir to the Carthak throne and she suspicously kind Emporer Mage, also known as Ozorne. In Carthak she meets new friends including animal friends of course) and new immortal friends too. The Badger God warns her of the dark future to the Carthak throne, but only warns. She also meets the Graveyard Hag, a less than idealistic goddess who gives her a power only Gods have. The way she converses with animals makes me even want to become Daine and meet her and her lands. If you are an animal or fantasy reader I most definately reccommed this book as good light reading.

In this book, Daine, a 15 year old girl goes to Carthak to heal the Emperor's birds and to sign a peace treaty. In this book Daine meets and befriends the prince Kaddar. Soon after she arrives in Carthak Daine relizes the emperor's hatred agianst her teacher and friend, Numair. In this book Daine also finds out who her father is. The only thing I didnt like about this story was that Varice, Numairs old girlfriend, pays Numair a night time visit. Although they didnt go into the topic much I still thought it offensive. I recemend this book to ages 12-15.

Tamora Pierce is one of my all time favorite authors who could only improve upon her writing skills by turning out her books a bit faster. This book like most of her books has wonderful characterization and story line. The world she creates is intriguing and everyone in it seems real and fascinating.

Tamora Pierce really has agreat series going on. The Emperor Mage is one of her best is what I would say. Apart from being funny, riveting, and GOOD, this is also quite suspenseful. When Daine is sent to the Carthak Empire as part of a peace delegation, she must help to revive Emperor Ozorne's ill birds with her Wild Magic. She becomes friends with Kaddar, the heir to the Carthaki throne, and aquires a new power ro add to her collection. Meanwhile, Numair and Daine fall in love, but when Ozorne decides to get back at Numair for an old feud, Daine must save her friend's life, and in that process she wreaks havoc in the Carthaki empire.

A magical entry in Ms.Pierce's second saga leaves readers of all ages begging for more. If your not clueless (and most of you aren't,I hope) you can definatly see something brewing between Numair and his student mage the stubborn heroine, Daine. She obviously has feeling for this guy I mean look what she did to the palace!

Hi! I've never been to the store before and was searching for the new books from Tamora Pierce when I discovered you could write book reviews. I absolutely love the Immortals quartet! Daine is a great character, and so is Numair, in fact, they're all great! (Their growing relationship is particularly interesting). I don't want to spoil any storylines for you if you haven't read them, so I won't talk about them. But if you're a teenager who likes fantasy books, or maybe one who hasn't tried them before, you'll love these! They're some of the best books I've ever read, and if you haven't read them, order them now! You won't regret it. So, kick yourself sharply and order 'Wild Magic' 'Wolf Speaker' 'The Emperor Mage' and 'Realms of the Gods' now!

It was a great book, Daine got into all sorts of trouble, and Kitten was better than ever. Zek was a great addition to the story. The most susspenseful part was Kaddar telling Daine that Numair was dead, I was on the edge of my seat saying, "No way, he can't be dead!" Emperor Mage was wonderful!

Loved it so much. This book was awesome. In it Daine goes with the kings concil who will be signing a peace treaty. Daine is with the company because the emporers birds are sick. When the bager god comes he gives Daine a new power. Something is wrong in Carthak. Something terribly wrong is coming.

with Numair, Alanna, Kitten, and others from Tortall. She is there to help save Emperor Ozorne's dying birds while the others are there to sign a peace treaty with the Emperor Mage. The book holds a bit of romance, LOTS of adventure, and a tad of sadness. A perfect recipe by Ms. Pierce

I found this book when I was searchin' for the Song of the Lioness Quartet. It was the first in the Immortal series that I read. I instantly liked Numair and Daine. The plot offered was excelent. And why's Numair gettin' so protective of Daine? I guess we'll find out in the next book.

This may be getting old, but this book is fantastic too! I can't even begin to say how great these books are. I can tell that Numair and Daine are getting closer. I can't wait to read the next one. So many things happen in all the books and everything ties together. I love to hear about all the immortals, and mortals too. It almost makes you wish you could be like them, and have the powers they have. This book was great, I really liked this one. Each book gets better and better! I can't wait for the next one... this one is going to be AWESOME!

Ok, this was the second best book in the Immortals series (I like Realm of the Gods better), at least in my opinion. Daine finds herself in the infamous Carthak. The Tortallans are discussing peace delegations with the Carthakis. Anyway, I thought it would have been pretty cool if Daine and Kaddar, you know, hooked up or something but, of course, that is not to be. Anyway, the Graveyard Hag gives Daine a power that might make Carthak straighten up (or fall down). Personally, I think that the Hag is MEAN! Oh well. Of course, Tamora Pierce pulls of another GREAT book. I can't wait until the third Protector of the Small book comes out!

This third book of the immortals series is the best by far. Pierce employs wonderful character development, and I really feel as if I'm getting to know them better. I did miss Cloud, though!

The appeal this book held for me was the far-off land of Carthak. Having been introduced to it in the earlier books, it was wonderful to "visit" the land. Pierce's descriptions of Carthak brought it alive, giving a whole new feel to the series.

I am anxious to read the final installment in the series!

This was the third book that I read of Ms. Pierce's, and I thought it was simple fantastic. Aside from some minor errors, the whole story was capitavting and very imaginative. I thought the ending was particularly impressives, as was the whole parts where Daine is showing the Carthaki males, just how useful girls can be. I thought those were very good.
Some parts where a little confusing, especially when describing places and where they were, this occured mostly when Ms. Pierce was writing and the Hag, and what happened to Daine.
But all in all, this is a book I would definetly reccommend. Well done, Ms. Pierce!

If you think you've read it all in the first two you are mistaken, Mrs. pierce draws you in once again to a whole new area with similar characters yet new ones as well. This book probably wasnt my favorite but it was still VERY well written and im sure MANY people enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun to read and i would never regret buying it! I've read Wild Magic, and Wolf-Speaker, and I think this one was the best. I don't know why - please don't ask. But this one involved the Gods more than the ones before, and, well, this one had more action, and was more thrilling. It can sure keep one's heart racing! One of my all-time favorites, and when you read the ammount of books I do, a rating like that is hard to come by. Superb!

I love this series by Tamora Pierce out of the three she's written. Numair and Daine are WONDERFUL. I always thought Alanna was a snotty little heroine but Daine's so down to earth and normal. And Numair? He's wonderful. I thought that the storyline of Emperor Mage was the most interesting.

Even though I like all of Pierce's books, this is my favorite. It is not overly mushy, and doesn't involve sex, but still has hints of romance in it--that's the way I like 'em. Pierce is especially good at weaving animal friends into the story.

Daine Has really evolved as a character in this book and you are with her every step of the way. Her new powers can be scary at times, but the suspense is well worth it. It is by far the best book in the IMMORTALS and its an instant classic.

Emperor Mage was my favorite of the Immortals so far. I liked how Alanna came into this book also. The other two were great, but there was something about this book that just had me hooked. Emperor Ozorne, is a real jerk I think. He is so mean and cruel. I can't beleive what he did to Daine after she healed his birds. Well he got what he deserved. Kaddar was one of my favorite new characters. He seemed pretty cool. As always, thought I think Daine is awsome. She was so brave in this book, and didn't seem to be as scared or babyish in this one. I can't wait until the next one comes out!

I must say, out of all the books she has written, this is definitely the best. The immortal series is the best of her quartets too so u know how i feel. It goes about Diane, a girl with wild magic (an abililty to shape shift, talk, and other stuff) going to Kathak to make 'peace' with the emperor, Ozorne. But it is not what it seems. in this book, she gets power to rise the dead in which she makes use later. while there's other stuff...
Its full of surprises, breathtaking, its worth its rating, nicer then Wild Magic. Its a MUST read!

I loved Emperor Mage. I particularly liked how she became "friends" with Rikash Moonsword, the halfway decent Stormwing from the last book. It's good to see Daine grow up--although she was likeable in Wild Magic, she was a couple of years younger than me and acted it. I really liked seeing her grow up and develop into a young woman. Even the little things, like her Galla accent, are changing, and I like that. Although I loved all of The Immortals, Emperor Mage was a step above Wolf-Speaker and Wild Magic.

Ilove the story. Man the Eperor was a real sleaze come to think about it so was the Grave Yard Hag. I think the only nice one on the iland was the emeror's nefue the prince. I'm glad Dane stoped him. I think she should have tought the Grave Yard Hag a lesson for all the time she chocked Dane. It was a very exsiting story if you like fantacy this the book for you. From the time Daine listens to a behavior lecture to the time she concludes her bargain (both on the same ship), this book is a must-read. From the interesting idea that perhaps all animals don't like the girl with the strongest wild magic in the world to the bringing in of divine assistance and annoyance, this book is a wonder. From the setting to the plot to the characters, new and old, this book is a buy-it-so-the-library-can-have-its-copy-back-you've-reread-it-so-often.

This is, in my opinion, the best of the Daine books. This girl really gets into things when she loses her temper. The vivid details make you see in your mind the chaos that an angry Daine can create with the help of all of her friends.

I have read this book many times in the past years. Finally being able to own it is great! It has a good storyline and well-thought-out characters. I've loved these books since I was a kid and I hope others read them as well!

This is, by far, the best book out of the four! Emperor Mage was really THE book that made me read the whole series over. I really recommend everyone to read it. Of course, you have to read the other 2 first.

This book was GREAT! I love the new setting (come on, you gotta admit that after a while Tortall gets annoying) and the new batch of characters! I love her new powers, and I have a sneaking suspicion that something is going to happen between...well, can't give anything away, so never mind. GREAT THIS BOOK!!!
