This is one of the most wonderfully romantic stories I have read - better than A Hundred Summers, which I also loved! Not a formula romance but a well developed plot with a lot of action and adventure and a surprise ending. I was anxious to see how the story ended but it is one of those books you wish would never end. This author creates intriguing characters and makes you care very much about them. She writes witty and believable dialog and her historical settings are just very well-done. Her vision of love that is in her stories and characters is idealistic and a realistic at the same time, A really unforgettable book, with much to say about the choices we make and the surprises life has for us. I thought about it again and again long after I finished it. And I truly could not put it down.

If I have dark, baggy eyes this morning, Beatriz Williams is entirely to blame. If she had not written such an excellent novel (her best by far, out of many good ones), I might not have stayed up at 5am, thirty pages shy of finishing it, unable to stay awake another minute. Had the ending not been quite as captivating, I might not have reached for it s soon as I woke up to finish it, putting off other things I should have done this morning.

So, if you value your sleep, by no means pick up this book. But, if you love a thrilling, romantic, historic page turner as much as I do, purchase "Along the Infinite Sea" immediately.

I enjoy historical fiction, and while there is more fiction than history to this one, the author manages to build a compelling story about love and loss in pre-WWII Germany. I am extremely tired of time travel in novels, however, and the juxtaposition of the young woman's parallel story in 1966 was, at best, confusing and, at worst, mildly irritating. I did unravel the denouement several chapters before it was revealed, but still thought the plot ingenious.
