I didn't realize how well traveled Helen Keller was nor did I know that she had authored a book! My AAUW group is reading this for a meeting we will have where we must navigate a "course" and eat a dinner blind-folded. Very enlightening.

What a delightful story..... and part of a series..... I have a feeling I will read them all. I have researched her books and put the titles in order and am thrilled to have found another author who writes such endearing tales. I would put her right up there with Patrick Taylor and his Irish Country Doctor books.

I enjoyed learning more about Helen Keller through this book. I am ever and always amazed at how much one can learn. Helen Keller had an insatiable appetite for knowledge! Her extreme love for learning sparked a new interest in me to seek more learning experiences. This book inspired me to download the book Little Lord Fauntleroy next. I'm working my way through that book now. It is a wonderful read!

Enjoy reading at night and these have become some of my favorites. There are characters you love, enjoy and care about. You end up feeling very good reading the Mitford books. I was shocked as I did not expect to enjoy as they are not like the books I usually read. Have recommended to family and friends.

This book is written by Helen Keller herself and covers her life from childhood to age 21. This book was written in 1903 and also includes letters written by her between 1887 and 1901, and chapter written by her teacher Anne Sullivan about Helen Keller's personality and education.
This is a fascinating book. It is very touching to read of how Helen felt and what she thought. It is a truly inspiring story especially when you read her own words because she is such a positive person.
The only complaint I have about how the Kindle book editor put together the table of content. The table of content has no chapter names, only chapter numbers. Even if Helen did not have chapter titles the editor of the Kindle book could have added the titles to the table of content to make it more useful.

Very inspiring story. I read this as a child and purchased for my daughter as part of her homeschool curriculum. If Ms. Keller can overcome all that she had to and still become as learned as she did...........then there is no excuse for any of the rest of us!!!!

The second book of the Mitford series continues the story of Father Tim and the wonderful people of Mitford, North Carolina. Easily a stand-alone book, it's best read as the second novel in order to appreciate the character development and ongoing adventures in this amazing mountain village. Jan Karon is an excellent writer and storyteller!

It seems to me that everything I know about Helen Keller has come from everyone but her. Helen’s story, told from her perspective, began when, at the age of 18 months, she suffered from a severe illness that left her deaf and blind, as well as mute.
Helen sharing her tenacious struggle to overcome these mind-boggling disabilities should be an inspiration to anyone who reads this story from Helen’s point of view. It is amazing how she viewed everything in her life as an opportunity, rather than a stumbling block. Helen was able to appreciate all of the beauty in the world, and later in life, had the ability to fight to help solve the problems of the world in her role as a social activist.
This short, 75 page book, filled with stunning optimism and hope, is not only an excellent read for adults, but also for the young people in your life. Helen’s dedication to overcoming her disabilities should be a guide post for anyone who thinks life has dealt them a bad hand. I encourage you to take the time to read Helen’s story of courage, determination and inspiration.

A great classic by a great American woman, the first deaf-blind person ever to earn a BA. The description of the Kindle book must be wrong, though, in claiming it contains only 80 pages. I don't know how a page corresponds to a "location," but this volume has 5546 locations, surely many more than 80 pages.

I have thought about getting this book for a long, long time and I am thoroughly enjoying it. The most amazing thing about it is that this little deaf/blind girl not only learned to communitcate but she speaks several different languages! Included are Helen's actual letters written from the time she was a child. I absolutely recommend this book for all ages!
The book came within one week of ordering, and looked brand new.
