Adventures of a Porcine Wonder - Mercy Watson Boxed Set

Wish these fun stories were a little longer/more involved as we only recently discovered. Our first grader ate them as fast as Mercy eats buttered bread and loved them. Just cute stories, great illustrations by VanDusen. A classic series.

My students love these books, I recommend reading them to your kids or if you teach primary grades, they are a hit! I couldn't give this package 5 stars because three of the books had multiple pages stuck together and I had to pull them apart, sometimes tearing the pages. I'm disappointed that my books are somewhat ruined because of the company who sent them.

My son loves these books. They are a pretty easy read (compared to some of the books he's brought home from the library), captures his attention and actually gets him excited to read his 20 minutes a night for homework!

Best series ever for introducing early readers to chapter books. There are pictures on nearly every page. The illustrations are so animated and the characters are so lively. My girls and I just LOVE these books.

The box was severely damaged, the books were all out of order, but they're all there! I taped it together and will give the set to my niece. I'm sure she won't notice it's not pristine. The stories are amazing! I should have sprung for the hardcovers.

Our 4 year old daughter enjoys the depth of chapter books but also still enjoys colorful illustrations. These books do a great job with both, being a longer read than a typical picture book but with sumptuous illustrations. A great buy!

Fun and simple writing that our entire family enjoys! Great illustrations by Chris Van Dusen. Together the story line and art make you love Mercy and her many adventures. So happy to have come upon these little jewels. Perfect gift!

My granddaughter received these books within a short period of time after I purchased them. She was so excited. She carried them around hugging them. They were in excellent condition. I love surprising her with the store gifts.

A friend gifted us 'Mercy Watson fights crime' and we were hooked! 16-chapter books that my 5year old actually reads through -well laid out, funny, easy to read. Sid loves reading them. I am there to help but mostly to laugh with him through all of Mercy's many antics. Happiness.

My son loves these books! He has trouble putting them down and has been rushing through them. This is the first time he has ever loved reading on his own, and I am so excited! They are the perfect bridge from picture books to chapter books, as they are a little bit of both. The writing is funny and engaging, and Chris van Dusen is my favorite children's illustrator. My son told me it is very important to read the books in order, as some of the later books reference previous stories. As a note: he enjoyed the first book, but said it was "four stars". He then started giving the books five stars after that. As far as reading level goes: He is capable of reading at a higher level (maybe M?), but that is not his comfort level. It is hard to find young reader books that are actually good literature, and these have been exactly that. Thank you for a great series!

Our school librarian introduced us to Mercy Watson and we are reading the series again for the second time. Even my struggling first grade readers check out copies to read. I had to have my own class set to share with future classes. Mercy is a "porcine wonder"!
