For those who are Dune enthusiasts...it goes without saying. The children of Paul Atreides and Chani - develop in their own self-awareness, to the growth and continuation of the family and the legacy of Dune.

Non-complicated reading.

I've just started reading this book. Although I've read other books by this author, I could not remember reading this one. I've enjoyed reading all of the "Dune" books. The book arrived very early and in near new condition.

The depth and complexity can be intimidating, but Hebert shows sweeping scale but also intense intimacy with livable characters. The philosophical relationship between religion and politics is written with a mysticism that can leave one over awed.
The Third Dune Novel by Frank Herbert (2003-03-13) :: There And Back Again: An Actor's Tale :: Competitiveness and Globalization - Strategic Management :: An Introduction to Language :: What happened between Dune Messiah and Children of Dune – the untold story. (Legends of Dune)

Seeing the progression of Leto and Ghanima's story was interesting. Also the conclusion was interesting. I found myself disappointed that Leto wanted to undo the forward progress of the ecological transformation of the planet, but all in all an interesting read.

I have now read Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune back to back, and I must say that Children of Dune is the worst of the three. I had high hopes and expectations for this book, and it did not live up to them. The preacher had potential to be a powerful and amazing character, instead, he was cowardly and withdrawn from the story. Stilgar, who was once my favorite character, had become whiny and was scared to stand up and take action. Leto II was unrealistic in the end, and I still don't understand how he became so powerful. If someone can explain how he became a God, please tell me.

Despite the poor characters, there was almost no action in this book, and the few scenes of action that were there, were short lived and uneventful. As a book by itself, Children of Dune deserves about four stars. It was entertaining if you could follow it. However, as a sequel to Dune, it only deserved about two stars. If you have read the first two wonderful Dune books, then you should definitely read this one. Don't be surprised though, when it does not live up to your high hopes.

I kept asking myself when this book was going to be resolved, and it never was. All the way until the end, new plot points are revealed, and none of them are solved. At first, this fact gave me very high hopes. I thought that maybe all the loose ends would be tied up in an amazing way. As the book progressed further, and still NOTHING had been solved, i thought that it was going to be the best last fifty pages I have Ever read. I was very wrong. Nothing was solved.

I do intend to read God Emperor of Dune, which from what I have read, is even more crazy than Children of Dune. I will be posting an update of this review after I read God Emperor. In the meantime, if you are a hardcore Dune fan, and have read the first two great books, then you should read this one. Read it only to tie up some loose plot points, and maybe burn up some free time.

I was very impressed with the creativity of the writing. It is not a book for a light reader. It makes you think. Unlike the movies, there is a difference in the ages of the children 9/10 and the results of what happened where Leto II becomes emperor.

The book arrived in good shape together with some other stuff I ordered in a box filled with plastic bubble
wrap sheets to cushion rough handling.
Well done.
Nice touch.
Shows you care about what happens to the stuff at the end of its journey.

Thank you!

Very pleased buying from the store. Book 3 carries on the saga of Paul, the political and religious leader of the sand planet Dune. With his powers of seeing the future, he leads his people down various potential paths. The book came in great condition, in a timely manner. I will continue to buy the store products for their quality and affordability.
