I am often confused with the timing witg elemental series and Rylee Anderson books. This book clears up some of the confusion. I am excited to find out what other part Ash has to play in the end game.

This is actually a hard book to review..... you know exactly what is going to happen in the end (although you truly wish it wouldn't) but what you don't know is the "how" and "why" of it all.
This is Ash's POV in between Windburn and Rootbound and I definitely recommend you read them before this one or it will get complicated.
Shannon Mayer's writing style keeps you on the edge of your seat even taking into consideration all of the above comments. I can't say I've ever read a book where you know the outcome at the start and it STILL does not disappoint!
Many long-standing questions are answered, bombs are dropped and even more questions are left unanswered which makes you rethink everything you thought you knew in the series so far.
I laughed, I sniffled and when I reached the end, I was literally speechless....
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
P.S. I love Norm!

This is an absolute must read from the Elemental series for all fans of Shannon Mayer. If you thought this was just a bit of background filler and you could figure out what happened to Ash in the time that he is missing from Lark's timeline then think again! Just as I thought I had a who's who sussed of good guys and bad guys, I am now no more clearer than I was at the beginning of the series! This is a game changer in my opinion and things are now even less apparent than they seem. Basically I cannot wait for more instalments in order to see what is going to happen in this world, one of the best fantasy/urban fantasy series out there, utterly complex and fascinating where magic and creatures exist and nothing is ever taken for granted.
We pick up the story of Ash as Lark is banished to the desert and this follows all new events from Ash's perspective, taking in more of the world at large and making us realise that the Elementals do not exist in a bubble and everything they do has ripples that have repercussions over all existence. As ever tense, emotional, action packed and completely unputdownable. Not sure how Shannon Mayer does it, but every book gets better than the last.

Ash takes place between Windburn and Rootbound and is told though Ash’s point of view. I had a hard time getting into this book because I knew how it would end but I kept on reading and I am glad that I did. You will be able to feel the love and devotion Ash and Peta have for Lark and it will lift your spirits, I promise you.
I read this as a Kindle and found no formatting errors. Likewise, there were little to no spelling, grammar, or punctuation error to hinder my reading enjoyment. Again, Ms Mayer delivered an amazing story with a lot of twist and turns. She answered questions but threw all new questions at us. There are new characters such as Norm the yeti. There are emotional tsunamis that left me sad and then had me laughing. I cannot wait to read the next installment, Spirit Sown. But first I am going to go re-read the series to see what else I might have missed the first read through.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I have also purchased the book because I enjoyed it and wanted to add it to my collection of this series. I think the fact that I purchased the book, even though I already had a copy speaks to how well I enjoyed the book and the series.

Ash by Shannon Myer is a definite five start read. Its book six in the Elemental series, its set between Windburn and Rootbound but as it does contain spoilers the author does advise you read Rootbound first, I couldn’t agree more. It really does keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through and it’s an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. I was literally in tears within the first 50 pages and no one had died!!! Just from reading the story and seeing it unfold. It’s amazing.
This story centres on Ash during the time that Lark his mate is banished to the desert, they have spent years fighting together and then getting together and then they are pulled apart again. She has been banished by her farther after everything she has done to help him get himself back from Cassavas control. Ash has always believed that as an Ender it is his duty to Protect the royal family, a decision he makes will rule his future.
After a spell in a dungeon Ash and Peta travel the world looking for the thing they seek, in the hope that this will help Lark. Then Someone takes Peta and Ash must accept help from an unusual source, A Yeti named Norm who comes with his own set of complications. But who fast becomes a character you desperately want to read more about.
Some secrets are spilled in this book that explain the back story to the elemental series that just makes you even more hooked. I can’t wait for book seven!!
Shannon Mayer is a great author who has written several amazing series, she writes from several POV so well. I love how there will be a series like the elemental series, who is mainly wrote from Larks POV or the Rylee Adams series (Another great series to check out if you haven’t already). Written by the strong lead but with others having their voices wrote as chapters, and then books written by different characters. It all fits so well, there is also cross over within the series’ you will see a character that you love from one pop up in another series. Sometimes it’s just an extra and sometimes it’s as part of the main story.
If you don’t buy the whole series including this book you are doing something wrong. It’s an amazing read, that I can’t recommend highly enough.

I was definitely left wondering what all happened to Ash between WINDBURN and ROOTBOUND, so ASH was a welcomed addition to my review schedule. Fans of the Elemental Series might be tempted to read ASH before ROOTBOUND, but you should read the series in order of book #, so make sure to read ASH after ROOTBOUND. I know it's a bit confusing, but there are things that happen in ASH that need the explanations you get from book five.
ASH answered a lot of questions for me, but also added some new ones to the list. She also throws some major curve balls when it comes to Cassava—like you will totally question everything you have thought about her curve balls. I also want to say that I loved the new character addition of Norm in ASH. I see big things coming from him in future books. Rylee would totally love him if she ever met him!
I am glad I got a view of events from Ash's POV and I look forward to seeing him and Lark together again. I'm ready for SPIRIT SOWN.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review, which I don't take lightly.
This is the puzzle piece that fits!! Ash's story takes place while Larkspur is exiled to the desert, far from her home in the Rim. Ash goes hunting for her and ends up in the Eryie, and begrudgingly befriends a brain damaged Yeti. Yeah. That's what I thought too. "That's kinda way out there, even for Shannon Mayer", but wait, it gets good. Yeti are huge like the ogres of The Rylee Adamson series, but furry and with a sense of humor! Our Yeti friend makes a complicated life a little easier for Ash, even though Ash wasn't looking for humor, or a friend for that matter.
We finally find out what Ash and Peta went through while Larkspur was exiled. Peta didn't have an easy time of it either.
Now that we know what happened to Peta and Ash, there are more questions. Different questions. It wouldn't be a Shannon Mayer book without a twist here and a turn there. And this book twists and turns like driving on a San Francisco hill (or so I'm told).

I really enjoy getting alternate versions of stories, or "add ons." It is a great way to fill out the world that the author creates and really give more dynamic to the story and the characters.
This installment of the Elemental series does a great job of filling in those details that we didn't have before. It picks up with Lark's banishment and ends...well, you'll just have to read to find out.
I like how it adds just enough to the mystery of the whole series to pull you in even more, but not so much that it cheapens anything.
I think my favorite thing about Mayer's deviations from the main characters (Lark and Rylee) is that connects you to a lot of other characters that you've only been marginally introduced to before.
As always, with each installment I'm even more excited for the next one.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have to say that I absolutely loved it!! I loved seeing everything from Ash's point of view. You know exactly how he feels about Lark, and everyone else he comes across. You get some more Raven and Talon in this book. I won't ruin it for anyone but this book definitely starts to give you a clearer picture of those two. Who is good and who is bad, or so we think. Shannon is a good spinner so what we think now, could change. You just never know with her which is why I love her and all her stories. Can't wait for the next book in the series so we can see which way things play out from here. If you love Shannon's books you won't be disappointed with this one. You should really get it. It will keep your interest and don't be surprised if you finish it in one sitting. It's really hard to put down.

Ash is an amazing addition to Shannon Mayer's Elemental Series. From the POV of Ender Ash, we get to see and experience some of what he goes through to not only help Lark but to also help the Elemental and Supernatural world. We see him set out on his own quest to set things straight, and as we know nothing ever goes as easy as we plan. There are a few new and wonderful characters we get introduced to as well as some characters we have already met that we get different views of. Some things are clearly not what they seem, Shannon has thrown in some very good surprises that will keep you guessing. I think Ash has rightfully earned a place on my favorite book list, I can't wait until the next book in the series releases as now I am very eager to see what the future holds for our Elemental friends!

This story focuses on what Ash goes through after Lark is banished...the second time.
The supporting characters like Raven, Casanova, and most importantly Ash become more than just names on a page with this addition to the Elemental Series. Within these pages they’ve become individuals. They’ve become fascinating characters with so many more layers than suggested in previous books in this series.
This novel takes every assumption you’ve been lead to believe and flips it over head over tail! I believe this is just the beginning of the story that floats in the grey area between good and bad. Sometimes even bad people are capable of doing good things.
To say I’m thrilled to see where Mayer takes this series is an understatement of the decade!

Ash - Elemental Series Book 6 - Shannon Mayer
“But it was Lark he was sending away, not some criminal. And she was my heart. I was not sure I wasn’t already banished.” -This quote from the very first chapter really defines the emotion in Ash’s story. He and Lark have such a deep connection, and after all that happens to Ash, we pray that is enough to bring him back. This is an amazing read and I enjoyed it immensely. Once again, Shannon Mayer delivers a story from an amazing world with the richest characters. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and as always I would have gladly paid for it!

I loved this book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ash's POV with everything that has happened between him and Lark. With Lark being banished, before this book, I was left wondering just how deep the connection and devotion between Lark and Ash was. This book took that away. You got to see how much Ash felt, fought for and sacrificed for his true love. It was great to see the bond between Peta and Ash and how much it, and their devotion for Lark grew with her being banished. I loved the introduction of Norm and hope he plays a pivotal role in future books. As usual, Mayer leaves you with a wow moment at the end, and with much anticipation awaiting the next installment.

Ash is the sixth book in the Elementals series and is from Ender Ash's point of view. It give us what he went through between the book Elementally Priceless and Rootbound.
There is a new character introduced named Norm and he is one of my new favorites. I hope we see more him.
Shannon Mayer has a way of intertwining her Tracker series and Elemental series that I haven't ever read before. Her writing is far from predictable. Just when you think you know, you realize you haven't a clue.
Once again she's left me dying to know what happens next.
Received arc for honest review.

So if you haven't been reading the elemental series, you're going to be very confused and it just won't make any sense. If you are keeping up, then you must not miss this book! This is the tale of Ash when Lark was gone and what happened to him before she found him. It was great, I. Depth and full of detail. I do feel for Ash, he's treated like a piece of meat with all of these women and I'm surprised he can still find love with all that happened. He has a great heart and he's a loyal guy. A must read for Lark fans!

Reading about things from Ash's point of view gave me a whole new perspective on things. I got a glimpse into not only his feelings for Lark, but the intensity with which he will do anything to protect her and their world. This series really needs to be read in order to get the full benefit of understanding. There were several surprises in this book that had me reeling. I also have a better view of things that have been happening. I can't wait to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

ASH is a backstory / fill-in-the-blanks installment, so even though it's book 6, timeline-wise the events take place in-between WINDBURN and ROOTBOUND, but you kinda need to read the latter first in order to understand this volume's plot. I enjoyed what Shannon Mayer put down however, admittedly the ELEMENTAL series is starting to get a tad bit complicated because the titles *should* be experienced chronologically, and yet maybe not.
This is Ash's version of what came after Lark's banishment. It's a POV that definitely needed to be told because the golden eagle on the cover made multiple appearances in #5, and some clarification was required to explain how this came about. That being said, all of the other novels were from the heroine's perspective, so even though ASH is full length, it should have been classified as #4.5 instead of #6 to avoid confusion IMO.
Timing issues aside, this was a great book! It built on the relationship between the protagonist and Peta, called Talan's character even further into question (Is he good? Bad? I DON'T KNOW!!), and brought in a new secondary in the form of Norm, the yeti. The author has rotated through a smorgasbord of supernaturals in her diverse Urban Fantasy series', but this guy was fresh, fun, and I absolutely loved his obsession with pranks!
Cassava is still going strong as the lead badass of the ELEMENTAL world, and Raven is hot on her tail. Talan's tangled allegiances make these three a venerable trifecta of shit disturbers that leave me incessantly speculating as to who is *really* behind it all. And then of course, Mayer concludes the head trip with a hook that could flip the whole thing on its butt, and possibly impacts the pre-spin-off story line too...
ASH will chew you up, spit you out, and leaving you salivating for SPIRIT SOWN!

For fans of Shannons Elemental and Rylee series a great addition. The background info you will get from Ash will change your thoughts on many things not only in the Elemental series but Rylee Adamsons as well. The "Elemental Universe" that has been created is just amazing and the way the stories from the different series link together is just masterful. If you liked Ash before you will just love him after leaning more of his story.

SO GOOD!!! I loved ASH! GREAT addition to the series. I know Lark loved Ash but in the previous books you never know how much that is reciprocated. Brilliant! I struggled to start this book as I knew the outcome but I am so so glad that I did. It had showed a depth to the characters and I honestly loved it. Yes I was lucky enough to get this for an honest review.

I was leery about buying this story. Reviews which I had read made me not very excited to read this. I HATE stories where important decisions are made based upon false information, and it seems in the reviews like that is the case with this. And in a way, that is true. BUT no one is being stupid. Everyone is doing the best they can with the information they have at the time, and I didn't want to shake sense into anyone at any point.
A lot is explained, and more questions are opened up. Some things which had seemed cut and dried are much less black and white than we were previously led to believe.
Ash loves Lark. That is unchanging.
