This book contains essential information for anybody interested in maintaining good emotional and physical health and taking appropriate measures in preventing Alzheimers and other degenerative brain diseases. Not only that, but it instructs on how already damaged brains can be improved and healed. Despite it being very repetitious in places I highly recommend it. It contains some interesting case studies and fascinating details about the different brain types.

Having previously enjoyed "Change Your brain , change your life" I was anticipating another good read and I haven't been disappointed. Dr Amen's use of actual case studies keeps it real, and his passionate belief in what he does is very clear. As a brain fitness advocate and author of "Brain Fit!How Smarter Thinking Can Save Your Brain", this new book demonstrates how Dr Amen's approach and use of SPECT imaging has such as powerful effect on motivating people to really want to make a positive difference to how well their brain works for them. Neuroplasticity in action- great work.

This book has changed my life. I have ordered the vitamin supplements and another book. I also bought the hipnosis cd to sleep. It is great, the first night i slept through the night. I hadnt done that for years.

This book feels like an advertisement for Daniel Amen's clinics. He gives GREAT tips that feel contradictory to one another. For example: Stay fit by exercising. Avoid Inflammation. Avoid Ibuprofen. .........Ok what happens if I have an injury...while "staying fit" and I develop inflammation? Now I can't take ibuprofen to quickly rid myself of that?

Essentially I thought I was going to get a book that gave me tips on keeping my brain sharp. Instead what this book is can be summed up in one sentence.... "To keep your brain healthy, do healthy things like diet and exercise"

Don't waste your money.

Dr. Amen's book contains the usual common-sense recommendations for excellent health: mental and physical exercise, healthy eating, limiting one's alcohol intake, avoiding tobacco, and reducing the sources of stress in one's life. Sounds like a wise approach to preventing the decline in brain functions, and it is backed by plenty of true-life stories about people the doctor has treated.

There are claims that Dr. Amen's work is not backed by solid scientific studies and, accordingly, his approach is met skepticism and is not necessarily highly recommended by the existing medical establishment.

Biographical information indicates that Dr. Amen received his biology degree from Southern California College, a Pentecostal school that is now known as Vanguard University. This school's credo is "We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God". Dr. Amen went on to receive his medical degree from the the School of Medicine at Oral Roberts University.

The book's recommendations are highly consistent with the habits required to maintain excellent personal health. Thus, if this book inspires people to alter the course of their live via healthy eating and other good habits then it will will be a God-given blessing for those readers. The book has a hard-cover and a paperback edition. The paperback edition on the store is especially recommended for readers seeking the lowest price.

I purchased "Use your brain to change your age" hoping to find some useful hints how to do just that. There were a number of helpful guidelines and they were repeated ad nauseam throughout the book. The basic suggestions could have easily fit in a small pamphlet and sold for $1. I really resent paying the price of a hard cover book and basically getting a sales pitch for the Amen solution, an expensive brain scan and his supplements. While he is certainly entitled to advertise, I find doing it throughout a book which I have paid for a complete ripoff.

I wish I could get my money back.

Just started Dr Amen's book yesterday. But have taken it seriously. Went to Pilates yesterday after reading chapter 1. Started at a new gym after chapter 2 (my old one closed two months ago). Will keep this exercise up three days a week like Dr. Amen recommends and add more brain healthy patterns to my life. Going to cut out cheese and sugar, then get new blood tests to see what else I need to do. His book has really scared me into taking much better care of myself. Thank you Dr. Amen. I have read several of your other books but this one has really hit home in the first two chapters. Keep up the good work.

This was breezy and informational. I read the whole thing in about 25 minutes. There really isn't anything new in here, but he does back up his claims with brain imaging. Everything we've been learning about diet and exercise and attitude (real food, the right kinds of fats, regular exercise, control your automatic negative thoughts) applies to brain health, and brain health has an impact on the whole body.

Having been a hands-on practitioner of Daniel's methods, I can frankly say that his approach to brain health and disease helped me to save my very LIFE !! If you want to be able to Feel Healthier, Smarter, Thinner and especially YOUNGER then read this book Use Your Brain To Change Your Age and practice his program. Eating the correct brain foods, taking the necessary daily supplements and practicing a regular fitness program has helped me to feel nearly twenty years younger than I actually am to date. Not only that, but along the way I was able to reverse and cure chronic disease and lose about 400 pounds as well !! He is my mentor and self appointed savior and in my humble opinion a genius when it comes to brain study and ways to optimize its functionality and performance. This directly in turn relates to the body well being and your overall health as well. The plan is easy and simple and the only thing you have to lose is years off your age and who doesn't want THAT !!!
I recommend any and all books written by Dr. Amen including his wife's cookbooks as well. Use Your Brain to Change your Age is another in a series of life saving books from a man who wants us all to be the best that we can possibly be !!

Dr. Amen has done it again with another outstanding book to get us immediately motivated to adopt his methods to attain optimal health for body and brain. His books are always so well written and easy to understand--so many specifics on what to do and what not to do. I love the examples of those who have turned their lives around using his methods. If you want to live a life with maximum vitality, you need to read his important work--you can lengthen your life. Dr. Amen did a SPECT scan of my brain years ago--I found it to be a fascinating science!

Use Your Brain To Change Your Age - Secrets to Look, Feel and Think Younger Every Day by Dr.Daniel G.Amen teaches patients the relationship between the standard blood chemistry and diseases of the body. There is a particular emphasis on the brain and diseases like Alzheimer's and premature strokes. The book provides a website to utilize as a patient memory screen. (1)

Dr. Amen has collected up-to-date research from over seventy thousand brain scans to develop an innovative program which consists of ten simple anti-aging steps to decrease the risk of Alzheimer's significantly. Other benefits of Dr. Amen's research include methods to boost memory, mood, attention and energy. The author's research also helps to heal brain damage due to toxic exposure, injury and strokes.

Dr. Amen advises patients to monitor out-of-range statistics in the blood panel; such as, the metabolics, HgA1C, Vitamin D levels, C-reactive protein, Testosterone, lipids, B12 and Folic Acid levels. The author suggests lowering the HgA1C level by losing weight, eliminating refined sugar and exercise. Fish oil, alpha lipoic acid and Vitamin D, curcumin, CO Q10, and ginkgo biloba are all good supplements to promote brain health.

Daniel Amen MD does a great job of explaining the importance of self motivation in achieving positive results in your life. This book is very well written and easy to understand.
