Started off fast and stayed fast paced with lots of danger and hero close calls. I learned new medical things and enjoyed many familiar venues from my own life and career. I loved the fact that the story included an appreciation for Arizona.

The story was revealed quite early in the book, and there are no real surprises throughout the rest of the book, just a lot of action. I did appreciate the concept of a weight-loss drug being at the center of the story, but I would not recommend this book.

I found the story to be captivating, exciting, and unfortunately, all too possible. Dr Kirby does a masterful job of weaving a great story involving medicine, big business, and politics. I liked Dr James, the unlikely hero. I hope we'll see him again in another story!

Make sure you free up your day before starting this one. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat right from the start. Louis Kirby has Dan Brown's knack for plot momentum but is very much Crichtonesque when it comes to weaving plausible science with an incredible story. You can't go wrong with Shadow of Eden.

A shopworn idea for a plot, been written many times. I like medical mysteries, but the problem with this book is too much information. The author went to go back and forth between two different tales, drawing out each one needlessly. Should have been two different books. Everything was just way too long and drawn out, yikes!!! And the foul language was a bit too much. I finally gave up and deleted this book from my Kindle.

This book is well written and gently pulls the reader into the story without realizing that page after page are being turned in anticipation. It's content is dashed with medical and so much more suspense - all a great combination!

Fast moving plot with plenty of action keeps the reader engrossed and waiting for the next development. Imaginative and believable plot. Well written and makes the complex medical terminology understandable. Hard to put down. I highly recommend this novel.

It was one of the better medical science fiction novels, comparable to "Coma". The plot was well thought out and the medical terminology was explained so that a reasonably intelligent person could understand it. I can't wait to read his next novel.

Dr. Kirby is a great storyteller, and his insight into the process (and concerns!) of clinical drug development make this action/science/political roller coaster a really exciting ride! I highly recommend Shadow of Eden.

Action-packed and gripping, this thriller delivers! Fast-paced and engaging, Shadow of Eden draws you in from the very first pages. Will Dr. James be able outwit cold-blooded killers, greedy businessmen, and corrupt politicians in time to avert a military show-down with China? Looking forward to more gems from Louis Kirby!

Lovers of medical detective novels and dedicated reader of political intrigue have a new source of excitement. This author is a real life scientist and neurologist who does action as fast as Lee Childs, schemes as dark as Dan Brown, and shades of war as realistic as as Tom Clancy. This is a doctor who can seriously write believable action drama. I am already hoping for the next one

The author writes well (if a bit predictably), and his storyline is catchy (I'd sign up for a miracle weight loss drug). The reason I'm rating the book two stars is because of the bad language. The pages bleed with profanity, especially the f-word. I found it distracting and would skip sections where the most profane characters were speaking. If I had known of this beforehand, I wouldn't have bought the book. If language bothers you, you might want to pass on this one.
Please RateShadow of Eden
