Loved this story, as with all of Aurora Rose Reynolds books. The problem is that every time I think I have a favorite Alpha Male narrowed down she brings me another one. If you love her Until Series, then her Underground Kings Series will be a hit.

Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again. Another fantastic book. Kai is one hot Hawaiian. Myla is a deeply scarred woman, together they prove that love can exist in the darkest places. Their story is worth reading. The obligation is to protect her but could it be it isn't an obligation at all?

Overall Opinion: This was better than I thought it would be. It wasn't really deep, but it was still enjoyable. I'm going to do the dreaded .75 rating again, because I don't quite feel like it was 4 stars but it was better than 3.5. I felt like I was missing a connection to the overall story. While I liked the characters, I didn't feel a personal connection to them or feel their connection to each other. It was kind of instalove, and this might be my biggest issue (because I usually struggle with it). It would be good for those readers looking for a book with a little suspense, some hot times, and a good HEA ending.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Myla and Kai's story. Kai meets Myla when he finds her crying in a treehouse when they're kids. Kai promises to protect Myla, and takes his vow seriously. Years later, he saves her from a really bad situation and has her marry him to keep her protected (long story that I don't want to ruin). Soon the lie of it being a marriage of convenience changes into being something more. There are some sexy times, some sweet moments, some frustrating things happening, some suspenseful moments, and a few laugh out loud times...and they get their HEA ending.
POV: This alternated between Myla and Kai's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I didn't skim, and I felt like it flowed well.
Instalove: Kind of. I felt like there wasn't much development for their feelings, and this was probably my biggest complaint. It made me not fully feel their connection (except physically speaking).
H rating: 4 stars. Kai. One of my favorite characterizations for a H is the big brutish guy with the heart of gold and is a big softy for the h -- and he was just that. I just wish he communicated better at times. Oh, and I love his name ;)
h rating: 4 stars. Myla. She was sweet, and I liked the way she put the H in his place when necessary. I felt bad for her past history.
Sadness level: Low. I didnt need any tissues.
Heat level: Moderate. They have some hot chemistry and sex scenes.
Descriptive sex: Yes
Safe sex: Yes and no.
OW/OM drama: Yes, but minimal
Sex scene with OW or OM: No
Cheating: No
Possible Triggers: Yes
Closure: This had great closure with a few jump ahead moments that make it a HEA ending.
How I got it: I paid the $0.99 on the store for it.

I absolutely adored Kai & Myla's love story. This book shows Kai's softer side and how far he's willing to go to prove he will protect his family, wife and children. I hope Sven & Maggie get their story!

AMAZING READ!!! Hot alpha and very sexy situations.
Myla and Kai have met before but Myla does not remember him. They were kids and even then Kai knew he would protect her. Kai sweeps Myla off her feet and before she knows it shes falling in love with him.

This author continues to hook me with her suspenseful love stories. Kai reminds me of Kristen Ashley's alpha male in her Unfinished Heroes Series though not as dark. I am looking forward to Sven's story!

Kai is another amazing Alpha male from ARR! I enjoyed the connection between Kai and Myla from the beginning and his willingness to do whatever it takes to protect his girl. It was dark and twisty, but with enough lighthearted fun to not feel TOO dark.

This story is very well put together. Even better than the first book in this series. I fell in love with Kai from the beginning. The supporting characters were full and interesting. I can hardly wait for the next book. Sven??

You never can go wrong with reading Mrs. Reynolds stories. You get the action, and let's not forget the hot loving! Loved Myla and Kai together and how protective he was towards his family and his wife! Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Started and Finished in one sitting. I screamed and yelled. Kai will fight the devil himself to protect his. Myla is stronger than she knows. Two halves that make a whole. The Underground KINGS keep getting better. Waiting on Sven's story.

When an emotional journey, this story touches on a topic that needs to be brought into the light more, it's an emotional story and I loved the journey I took with Kia, and Myla I think the author did wonderful with this story.

This is the 2nd book in the Underground King series. This book is about Kai, a Hawaiian hunk and Myla, who Kai has loved since they were young children. Kai makes it his mission to protect Myla from some bad guys, and he decides to do that by marrying her.
I liked this book but it has been my least fav book by this author. The first 20-25% of the book I had a hard time following what was going on, particularly why Kai had to protect Myla and why he thought the best solution to that problem was to marry her.
I felt like the author didn't spend enough time with story building, so some of the plot in the beginning of the book seemed unrealistic or implausible. I kept plugging way, reading the book bc I liked the chemistry between the characters and some of the bantering between secondary character was funny. But even at the end of the book, i didn't think the danger to Myla seemed plausible or it was too sketchy and was never really a central or well explained part of the plot.
I have really loved the Until series and think this series could be good as well. Maybe the author can make the books a little longer and spend more time on plot development in future books. I am a big fan of the author and hope that the next book in the series is better developed!

I absolutely love the Until series and then fell in love with Assumption as well but, Aurora outdid herself with this one!! Kai and Myla were both excellent characters, strong yet soft and the storyline...amazing!

Obligation is definitely different from Aurora Rose Reynolds other books, and I loved it! This book definitely has a bit of a dark side. You will love Kai trust me!! He will stop at nothing to keep his family safe.

This book was just ok... Quick read. Super fast romance. From the very beginning I felt lost. What happened to the beginning of the book!?? The description said this was a standalone book....I disagree.....

Another great one from Aurora Rose Reynolds! I was a little confused at the beginning of the book with Myla and Kai in the tree house and then with Myla waking up being married. As the story progressed the blanks started being filled. I love hot Alpha males and Kai is exactly what I was looking for.

I was a little confused at first. Even though the books in this series are stand alones, there is always one small aspect that ties them together. So I kept looking for the "link" that would help me remember who Kai was. Then I realized I just didn't care, Kai is HOT and the story itself doesn't need any explaining or "ties" to another book. So I just sat back and read one of the best love stories ever. Marrying Myla to protect her was the best thing he could have done for both of them. As with all love stories there is usually some drama, suspense, sometimes a murder or two, and a happily ever after. But we also get the two of them, the fact that he has known her since he was ten and knew from the first look that he was meant to protect and love her was the best hook ever. And it may seem like Myla went along with it all a little too easily, but if you had a husband as hot as Kai, I would have held on to that for as long as possible, even if it was supposed to be fake. I hope we see more of Kai and Myla in the future.

As always Aurora Rose Reynolds delivers another book and series that you just can't put down. It's got the right amount of romance, action and humor to keep you hooked. I'm always impressed with each new story and looking forward to the next.

Kai and Myla's story was so sweet and ridiculously sexy at the same time. Kai fell in love at ten years old and did whatever he needed to do to protect Myla. I could almost read this one again right away.

I fell in love with Kai while reading Assumption and am glad his story was told. Myla was perfect for him, thank you for giving us their backstory and a peek into their future. I can't wait for Sven & Maggie's story.

Aurora Rose Reynolds is one of the few authors that I instantly one-click when a new book is released. I liked this book a lot, but not as much as I loved her previous work. I can't wait until Sven's story comes out!

I usually would leave a long descriptive review. I like to make sure I can answer customer questions, and let the author have constructive feedback. However, with this book I am not going to be descriptive. Why? Because it was just that freaking good! I love ALL of this authors books. They are all five star reads, and they have never let me down. They provide all aspects you may be looking for in a book (humor, drama, love, etc). What really baffles me is how they keep getting better. I truly think there needs to be a different rating scale just for Ms. Reynolds books, because 5 stars doesn't even touch how good these books are.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ THIS AND ALL OTHER BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR. YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH KAI!
