EXCELLENT book, my first Capote. Bought the book because the movie is now my second favorite movie of all time, and I am one of those snobs that believe that if you love the movie, you should read the book it's based on. Glad I bought this edition with the short stories as well. I was absolutely satisfied with Breakfast at Tiffany's as I suspected I would be, but was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the stories as well. Quick read, compelling read, his words are fraught with culture and personality. Totally worth buying.

This is still fresh, exhilarating and to the point..Capote at his best! Sharp social commentary, life lessons, and career commentary..hah. Holly spoke to me in the 60s in college; still feel her today?
She paved a blazing trail; there's been no one like her. Countless imitations, but she's the One.

Truman Capote's career defining short story is a far cry from the Audrey Hepburn movie that we all know and love, but it is a better cry, in my opinion. A quick read, it stays with you long after you've put it down and started humming Moon River to yourself (even though the song was written for the film and makes no appearance in the book.)
Holly Golightly is a socialite and sometimes actress who captivates any and everyone she meets with her cool style and quirky ways, including our narrator who we simply know as Fred since that is what Miss Golightly christens him on their first meeting. But while she may have a glamorous looking life, she has a dark past and a precarious future.
The impression she makes on our narrator is profound and lasting and, if the reader isn't careful, she will have the same effect on them.
If you love the film, read the book with an open heart - in the end there will be no found kittens and kisses in the rain - that's far too conventional for our layered and complex Miss Golightly. But there's no cause for sadness - it's just the way Holly would have wanted it.

Amazing, OBVIOUSLY. This was one of the first books that I read where I thought to myself "Not one word in that book was a mistake". A wonderful book, one of my favorites, and one I will read time & time again like it's an old friend.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is an excellent story, well deserving its status as a classic. The three short stories did not strike me as anything special. I could have easily done without them and not missed a thing.

Forget the movie. This book is a hundred times better. The true Holly is no doe eyed romatic waiting for George Peppard to sweep her off her feet and the guy upstairs is the gay upstairs, but that just makes the story beter. Unbelieavably smart dialogue and bueatifully drescriptive writng. An American literary gem.

The movie has been one of my favorites for decades, but I'd never read the book. It's no surprise to say that the book is better than the movie, but it really does a great job of pulling us into a somewhat seedier version of NYC than shown in the movie. I fell in love with poor lost Holly all over again, but got a much better feel for the time and the story. Capote does a great job of pulling us into the late war and post-war years, and we're left genuinely wondering whether Holly ever found peace and home.

I watched the movie Capote and was interested in reading all his books. Breakfast at Tiffany's was a good, but almost too quick read. It came with some other short stories that were enjoyable. Just left me wanting more because they are very well written.

This book is wonderful! It made me love the movie even more! The story is quotable in the film. Capote wrote a different intro and ending in his novel than the movie adapted, I think I prefer it to the Hollywood ending. Reading his original text has made me fall in love the characters in a totally new way.

Mr Capote creates and interesting character with Holly Golightly but as wild as it is, Holly looked to me more giddy than troubled in a seductive way. I did not manage to appreciate the story, but did appreciate the pace and the color of the language the author used.
A classic, I am glad I read it after all.
