I enjoy reading all of Heather Graham's Krewe stories and she can through again with this one. Ghoststories have always held my interest and she keeps the story interesting enough that at time it is hard to put the book down and get work done.

The Uninvited features one of my favorite men from the second branch of Krewe of Hunters, Tyler.
Allison Leigh works at an old Revolutionary War house as a tour guide. She is also writing a paper on the lady who was killed, Lucy Tarleton. She was suppose to have been killed by British Lord “Butcher” Bedford.
Now one of the tour guides has been killed. A young by swears that the “Lord” liked Allison and he has seen him. Then the young boys father is put in a coma and they think that Allison is the only one who can help them.
With strange things like this there is only one thing to do, call in the Krewe of Hunters. Tyler is sent to check things out and see exactly what is going on and if he thinks it’s a good case for the Krewe. If so then the rest of the crew will come and help investigate.
Tyler learns that there have been quite a few deaths in that house over the years and it seems a bit strange to him. Allison at first doesn’t want him around because she thinks what they do is a big joke. Then the ghost of her dead colleague shows up and frightens her. She tries to explain it off but Tyler knows something is going on, especially when he starts to see the young man as well. He doesn’t know what happened to him but he knows someone came up behind him and smashed his head into the bayonet on his rifle that he didn’t want to die.
But who would want to kill people in this house and what does it have to do with Allison. Could it be that she has found something that others don’t want revealed while writing her paper? Or does it go beyond the paper? Tyler and the Krewe of Hunters are determined to get to the bottom of things before Allison becomes the next victim.
Tyler Montague is a sexy, southern man but though he comes from Texas, he is not really a cowboy type. He didn’t start seeing ghost until later in life, so he knows what it’s like to be skeptical. He really feels protective of Allison as soon as he meets her which is unusual for him. Allison is a scholar and has a love of history and even though she tells ghost stories at times on her tours she didn’t believe in them. She is pretty skeptical of Tyler because she knows they are none as some sort of ghostbusting team of FBI agents. After seeing a ghost and seeing how they handle things she started respecting them more and finding herself drawn to Tyler. They make a cute couple!
I really enjoyed this story though I must say I really like about all of the books in this series. They all are very fast listens and I seem to not be able to put them down. ? I might have liked this one a bit more than some others since I liked Tyler. ?

Heather Graham is one of my favorite authors for when the mood strikes. Each of the novels can be read as standalone, as each book deals with one member of the special FBI unit and their romance. I love that each case brings us a mystery to solve and a swoon worthy guy. The Uninvited tells Agent Tyler Montague's story as he works to solve a murder investigation.
The case is set in Philadelphia and involves the historic Tarleton House. Allison Leigh is a history professor and spends her summers working as a guide at the Tarleton House. Dressed in colonial attire, she is locking up after a busy day of tours when she discovers the body of a co-worker impaled by his own replica bayonet. While resident ghosts are good for drawing in visitors, the board is concerned because this isn't the first bizarre accident to occur. They call Adam the head of the special FBI unit and Taylor Montague is dispatched from Virginia to investigate. Allison isn't happy about this crew of "ghost hunters" invading the historic home, but when she begins seeing and hearing the voice of her dead colleague ..she might just change her mind. The tale that unfolds is suspenseful as they race to stop a killer.
We previously meet Agent Taylor and I was delighted to finally get his story. He is ex-military and was a Texas Ranger who helped find a missing girl with the help of a ghost. Taylor is tall and lean and looks like a linebacker. I really liked this soft spoken man. He feels like people are intimidated by his size and are quick to make judgment about him. He finds himself attracted to the sexy, refined, intelligent dark haired raven, Allison. Allison isn't ready to deal with the murder, let alone all this ghost woo-woo, but Taylor is so patient with her. *sighs* These two were obviously attracted to each other, but the discovery and dance was paced throughout the book allowing the romance to slowly unfold. The rest of the Krewe of Hunters arrived, but as is Graham's style they worked the case mostly in the background. Hints were dropped about whose story we will get next and I hope I am right. The list of suspects was colorful and the secondary characters including the ghosts added to the suspense and mystery.
The world building in Graham's novels are always fun. I love the investigation aspect and piecing together the clues. Having ghosts provide clues and unlock lost mysteries is always intriguing. In this type of tale the story lines follow a predictable recipe; murder, boy meets girl, search for clues, fall in love, solve the case. Graham takes this recipe and mixing up a delightful new batch each time and I always find myself completely immersed in the tale. I love that the romance is just a side dish to the mystery. She knows how to serve it and this one was spicy. I enjoyed watching it develop, the awkwardness, tension, that first kiss..eep! While there is sexual content it is all implied and should not offend. I loved the dead colleague and fans of the Ghost Bartholomew should be delighted by him. While I had my suspicions about whom the murderer was, Graham surprised me with a twist at the end.
I want to thank Mira/Harlequin and netGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my unbiased review.

History Professor Allison Leigh loves spending her summer working in the historical Landon Mansion in Philadelphia. The historical garb may get hot, but getting to share the history with people of all ages is something that Allison loves. There are many ghost stories surrounding the house that have increased its popularity. Allison never put much stock into those stories until she discovers a dead body and was introduced to one Special Agent.
Agent Tyler Montague is a member of a special task force called the Krewe of Hunters. Tyler and his team investigate the peculiar cases. Tyler is in Philadelphia to find out if the famous Lord "Butcher" Bedford's ghost is causing the murders at Landon Mansion. Tyler is used to dealing with those skeptical about ghosts but there is something about Ms. Allison Leigh that causes him to want her to believe.
Allison's historical knowledge of the area and the people that used to live there make her the perfect person to help Tyler find the killer. Will they be able to fight the attraction and keep themselves protected at the same time?
The Uninvited is the third book in the trilogy of the Krewe of Hunters books. It can be read as a stand-alone. While I did enjoy this book it is not my favorite of the series. Allison and Tyler prove to be interesting and sexy characters but the thing that I really like about Ms. Graham's books is the mystery. The romance takes a bit of a back seat to the cool story that interweaves the past and present with skill. Allison and Tyler do have excellent chemistry and their scenes are great but I am amazed at Ms. Graham's ability to create a magical story that works so well in the present when part of the facts lie in the past. The Uninvited is a saucy romantic murder mystery with ghosts taking center stage.

I love history especially history pertaining to America and how we came to be. So, while this book was fiction it did have a lot of history about the occupation of Philadelphia by the British during the Revolution. I found it intriguing how Ms. Graham mixed the story of a young patriot woman, Lucy Tarleton, with the murders of several people that occurred in present time in her house. The storyline was interesting enough to keep you guessing while also watching the two MCs growing attraction towards each other. Though I didn't really think the ending was all that great. It just seemed the person responsible and the reason didn't make much sense to me considering there was nothing to be gained one way or the other. It also didn't explain how he knew the things he knew and everything was wrapped up way to quick, it was like "here is what happened and here is the clean-up". This was actually the first book of the series I've read and it did make me put the rest of the series in my TBR pile since a couple of the characters have already had their stories told. I didn't feel as if I was missing any kind of recurring storyline so it can be read as a stand-alone novel. All in all I found it a very enjoyable book and think fans of romantic suspense would find it enjoyable as well.

n 1777 Lord "Butcher" Bradford kills Lucy Tarleton, not because she was a traitor which she was and proud of it but for not loving him but playing the part.
Present day- After the days final tour Allison Leigh while making her rounds finds the body of her fellow worker and tour guide Ju;ian slumped over Bradfords desk impaled on his own replica bayonet.
It is quickly ruled suicide by the local police but Adam Harrison has other ideas and the Krewe of Hunters is called in. Tyler Montague, is first on scene and the first to realize that Allison has another friend one thats been making her think she was crazy, Julian has hung around, determined to make someone understand he was musrdered he did not kill himself. He claim that the "Butcher" came out of the picture nd then he was dead.
Did the ghost of Brandford come back to kill once more? Or is their something else afoot at the mansion, for as the Krewe has a habit of saying ghost don't kill people do.
This is another great read featuring the Krew of Hunters, Heather continues to give us another page turner.

Probably the weakest of the first eight Krewe of Hunters books. Maybe because I'm in Philadelphia and married to an academic, but the inaccuracies of location and distances (you don't go to Brandywine en route to Valley Forge from downtown Philadelphia), improbabilities of housing, and completely inaccurate portrayal of academia/professorship continually snapped me out of the book. Yes, Allison is afraid of ghosts, admits her ability to see them, falls into bed with the Krewe agent, blah blah etc. The formula becomes set by the second or third novel in the series, so what you need is an engrossing ghost story and details to lose yourself in, because you know (if you've read the other novels) exactly what the beats are going to be. In the other Krewe novels, Graham largely succeeds, but whether it was just the inaccurate details about the city or the story itself, she failed in this novel. Good to read if you're a completist, I guess, but I'd recommend people skip, otherwise.

In Philadelphia assistant history Professor Allison Leigh works as a tour guide at the Tarleton-Dandridge House. The docent wears attire similar to what Lucy Tarleton wore in 1777 when British General Lord Brian "Beast" Bradley murdered her before occupying the mansion. Everyone remarks how close a resemblance Allison has with the portrait of Lucy.
While shutting down, Allison finds another guide Julian Mitchell dead with his head on Bradley's desk; the victim was killed by the Revolutionary War era bayonet he held. At the same time at a hospital, a guest Todd insists a ghost followed him and his now comatose dad from the Tarleton-Dandridge House to their hotel. Former Texas Ranger turned FBI Krewe unit agent Tyler Montague arrives to investigate the homicide and the coma. Allegedly the Beast's portrait has killed many people over the decades though Tyler doubts a painting can murder anyone. Allison is livid that the Feds sent in a ghostbuster though she is attracted to the special agent as he is to the historian. As they team up, the two skeptics fall in love but begin to believe in malevolent ghosts.
The latest Krewe of Hunters paranormal romance (see The Unspoken and The Unholy) is an exhilarating whodunit with the murder investigation superseding the love subplot. Fast-paced, fans will enjoy a Krewe tour of Philadelphia as Heather Graham deftly mingles ghosts, murder and love.

Welcome back Krewe of Hunters! Heather Graham delivers a solid paranormal mystery with The Uninvited. I have always loved the way that she blends history into the present to create riveting mysteries and this book is no exception. I did not want to put it down. Delve into a Revolutionary War mystery, featuring a tale of murder, of love and of the evil that men do. The characters, both old and new, take center stage while unraveling this mystery and although the paranormal takes more of a center stage in this than in most, it works very well. Julian's role in the book is very clever and brings some light hearted moments into the novel. A solid mystery that kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning.

This story surrounds the Tarleton-Dandridge House in Philadelphia where in 1777 Patriot Lucy Tarleton was killed by her British lover, Lord Bedford. At least that's what history tells us. In present day Allison Leigh a docent of the house is about to encounter death, murder, ghosts and one seriously hunky Agent Tyler Montague.
The Uninvited was an excellent read. I loved the background and history. Allison & Tyler are quite an interesting pair. The romance was slow going, but definitely worth the wait. Between the house, past and present death all made a great mystery. I thought for sure I knew who did it, but I was so shocked at the reveal. I was way off. Ms Graham is a grand storyteller.

My opinion: This book was good, but not fantastic. Like the greater chunk of Heather Graham books, I found this book perfect for situations in which I need lighter reading. There were moments that, unintentionally, I found "silly" with, as normal the characters too light. Having read the entire series, I found this to be among my favorites of the series for the storyline.

I have come to love just about everything Heather Graham writes. What I love the most is how she incorporates history into the story line. This being set in Philadelphia in the time of our independence from the British, with a love story wrapped around with the paranormal. Was a delightful read and look forward to reading much more from Ms Graham.

Everytime this author gets better & better. I got so involved with her stories, that I don't want to stop reading, even loosing sleep, so I can continue reading. I feel sometimes that I'm part of the plot. That, for me is a goog, no an excellent writer. Highly recommended, all her books.

I've been reading Graham for years. This last book seemed tired, like she just wanted to hurry and finish. The motive was out in left field and made no sense whatsoever. Her earlier books, while similar in plot, were so much more entertaining. Bring back the Privateer. Bring back something we can really get into again.
