I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the personality of the main character, LaToya as she was different from the typical way many black women are written about. I'm talking mainly of her character, not her physique.

I have to chime with the other negative reviews about this book. The typos, grammatical errors, the totally implausible dialogue and far fetch plot made this book a no-go for me. Thankfully, I'm able to get my money back under the 5 day return policy! I hope that the day will come very soon that self publishing authors will take the time to have their work proofread and edited before submitting it for sale! More importantly, I hope that READERS will become more discerning and demand that authors adhere to the standards of good grammar, punctuation and editing.

I really, really wanted to like this one. For most of my life, I was the "Ugly Girlfriend", in the shadowed periphery of my prettier girlfriends. I could identify with LaToya.

The problem? The number of malapropisms in the book--"grinning like a chest cat", a "pensive" bar (never was able to translate that, so have no idea what the author meant), and many others--unfortunately distracted from what was an otherwise delightful romance. Everytime I came across the misuse of words, I was caught up short, yanked out of the story, and either had to figure out what the author meant, or in some cases, stop laughting. This book was in dire need of editing and a dictionary.

It's unfortunate, because I think Latrivia can write--she had good character development, a good plot, loved her handling of racial and class issues, and a happy, but not soppy ending. Regretfully, I probably will not buy any other story by this author.

Great story!!! So true with how people really see you. I felt like this story was about me..lol. I have been through so much of the same thing in my life as were in the story. I'm glad to see that someone out there isn't afraid to tell it like it really is. Thank you Latrivia S. Nelson for writing such an awesome book.

Once again, Latrivia Nelson has written a book that holds my interest. A full-figured woman unsure of herself, no thanks to her so-called friends, who finds a handsome man who loves her just for herself. He shows her she is beautiful and desirable which is something most women want. I hope this is not the last we've seen of LaToya and Mitch! That's a hint, Ms. Nelson!

This story is truly delightful. The main characters are classy, witty, relate-able. Ms. Nelson can really tell a story, from a crime-romance novel (love the shout out to the Medlove series in this one) to sweet little tale of romance. If you have not already read them, please read Dmitry's Closet, one of the best IR novels in a long time.

I loved the story, the characters and the fact that it felt realistic in many aspects. Although, the story progressed nicely I do wish it was a bit longer and went more in-depth into the characters backstories.

I rarely ever write reviews on creative work (art, music, movies, and stories) because I believe everyone should have a chance to experience the work without expectation or hesitation. Still there are times when art moves me so deeply, I have to respond.

This is a beautiful fictonal story that speaks to real issues in our world today. This could speak to many, but if you are a:

* Plus sized woman,
* Black woman,
* a blue collar working woman, or
* especially if you are a plus-sized, Black, blue-collar working woman,

This story is one you should consider reading.

* It moves you to anger at how people (even so called friends) view us (I say us because I'm a Black BBW);
* It moves you to pride to see someone like us portrayed as a successful business person (which many of us are) and and not * sick lazy losers as many inaccurately view us;
* It moves you to tears to see one of us be loved for who we are on the inside and as well as the outside; &
While it is fictional and I am jaded in the belief there's many of this "happily ever afters" in realty,
* It moves you to hope that somewhere there is a man who can love us the way Mitch loved LaToya.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few typos but not as many as I have experienced before in other e-books. I like the main characters and it was a refreshing book to read. "What you don't want someone else might one."

This is a quick read and an enjoyable story. Lets hear it for the underdog. However the typos and formatting errors take away from the story. Clean up the text please. It is really insulting to your readers to allow a story to be published in this condition and expect people to pay for it. I would hesitate to purchase another one of this author's books.

I really enjoyed this story about truly letting go and loving yourself, then finding the man who in turn will love you as you are. I hope to one day find a man like Mitch in my life. l have lots of love for you Mrs.Nelson #fan4life

I like most of this authors books. Her stories are always well written.

LaToya was "unattractive" friend in her group. Although she was successful in her business she was overweight. Her size caused her self esteem to plummet.

I like the way the author helped Latoya and Mitchell come to terms with the issues both had. Mitchell was dealing with issues stemming from his ex-wife who left him for another man.

By the end of the story LaToya was able to stand up for herself and her guy. She realized that she was lovable and that was just the best!

Mitch was so proud to be with her .... it just brought tears to my eyes.

This story is definitely on my re-read list.

It was my first purchase and reading of an interracial romance. The topic appealed to me, however the review and the story were not the same. All it was about was SEX, I have read great books without sex and a brilliant storyline. But, I kept reading with the hope of finding a storyline. I've finished reading it in 2hrs and still did not get a storyline. To say I was great disappointed is an understatement. I am hoping for greater satisfaction if I am able to sell for at least $10 It actually cost me $33 for purchase,shipping and delivery to Barbados ( $15 US). Usually I give away books, I will not unleashed this on anyone I like.

I loved this book, wonderful plot and story line. The couple was lovely together and the romance was not rushed. Latrivia is truly a talent author and I can't wait until the next book come out in this series. I don't believe in telling or repeating the story. All I can say is get this book and you will not be disappointed.

The beginning of the book was great,very catchy. But by the time the main character starts dating her client, it went to soar. Its like two different people wrote the book. A decent writer who starts it off, then an amateur who finishes the novel. Not worth buying....

The Ugly Girlfriend begins with LaToya being out with her girlfriends at a bar one night. She actually thinks a guy is going to ask her out, or at least to dance but becomes embarrassed when the hot guy just says he needs her cleaning service. After that LaToya decides to just be nothing but perfessional with Mitch. But after spending some time with him, and realizing he is going through a hard time she feels something for him. However, she doesn't want to be a rebound, but Mitch knows what he wants and he's going to take it!

This book was okay. It wasn't good, but not really bad either. I enjoyed Mitch and LaToya, and their relationship with each other. I however didn't like LaToya's friends. I felt they belittled her, and treated her like crap. It was really bad, but I was thankful with the outcome in the end. So this book over all is a nice short story that will pass the time really well!

I can't thank Latrivia enough for writing this book. I feel exactly like Latoya, so it touched my heart to read such a beautiful story, one I know many women like me wish for. GREAT JOB LATRIVIA, KUDOS TO YOU!!!

Wow....what an amazing story! I am slowly but surely trying to get through all of Latrivia's books. She is such a gifted and talented writer. All of her characters are always developed so well! They are never just generic cookie cutouts. I love the fact that this story is about a BBBW. I absolutely loved Mitch and LaToya's story. This story is rather short but that doesn't matter because I enjoyed every minute of it. Latrivia was able to wrap everything up nicely. The ending was beautiful. I'm a size 14 so I could definitely relate to the heroine. My husband loves every bit of my size 14 LOL! This one is definitely a keeper:)
