Throw Like a Girl, by Jennie Finch is an inspiring biography about the life of the amazing softball pitcher, Jennie Finch. It tells of the ups, downs, and super exciting parts of her lifetime. I would give it five stars because it is very detailed and a GOOD BOOK!

Bought this for my 13 year-old daughter, and read it before she did. There is nothing not to like about Jenny Finch, she is a highly successful world class athlete with tremendous natural ability, a 6' frame, burning desire, smart and beautiful. If you have all that and believe in yourself, you will go far. She even overcame being told by a coach when she first started playing softball that she did not have what it takes to be a champion. That would be like telling a young Micheal Jordan to quit playing basketball. That seems to be the only setback in Jennie's career. So, the book reads like, "You don't have to be successful and beautiful like me to succeed like me." It's a great message, but, really? Where's the proof? You can't knock her for being great. And, she does get across the idea that greatness requires hard work. I liked the book more than my did daughter. For me, probably because the book never stops saying to girls something that I want them to hear. For my daughter, probably because the book stays preachy and never gets very personal, which my daughter would have preferred.

My daughter loves this book. She carries it with her all the time. She started pitching this year and loves the stories of how Jennie was a tomboy, great athlete but could still be pretty in the process. I think as a bigger framed girl, she can relate to Jennie's youth. Would recommend for any young girl that loves to pitch.

As a middle school softball coach, I recommended this book as summer reading for the team. It really makes an impressionable young person think about what is important to them whether it be sports or anything else in life...

We have an 11 year old budding fast pitch softball grand-daughter. Jenny's book was terrific as she covers most all of the problems young athletes and their parents will have to deal with in school and sports. Natalie went to a two day Fast pitch, camp a month or so back, run by Lisa Fernandez and this is who Jenny described as the best female player in Women's Softball ever!
We thought the book was great and passed it on to our daughter and granddaughter to read. It covers all the bases and Jenny is a wonderful inspiration and model for young girls to follow

My nine year old daughter plays softball, and this book is a wonderful influence. Discusses everything from body care, to dedication, to dealing with difficult situations. She truly enjoyed it. Highly recommend it.

bought for my 11 year old daughter, to encourage reading. Shes not really a leisurely reader, but I try to encourage reading as much as possible! Anyway, she keeps bringing up facts to me, nochalantly, about Jennie Finch, and her journey. That definately tells me she has been reading it on her own, and that's a great thing in my book.

I got this book for Christmas and Jennie Finch is my softball role model and a little in life so far I haven't got to far in the book but I love it people say oh you just like it because of the player but even my dad concidered reading it. Mainly it's about mental toughness and winning and losing tips to stay healthy and some childhood stories if you're that big non-confident person I highly suggest this book
