if you haven't read a redwall book yet then you should really get started. If you want to read them in order then don't read this one first. but If you don't really mind, read this one first! This book contains plenty of action and descriptions of food that will make your eyes tear and your mouth water. All of the redwall books are good, but definetly by far not as good as Salamandastron. i hope that my review helped you! Eulallllliiiiiiaaaaaaaaa!

I read a real good book called Salamandastron, by Brian Jacques. It is a fantasy book about woodland creatures that fight wars with vermin like rats, weasels, stoats, etc......... This particular book is about the evil Ferrahgo the Assassin-an unmerciful ferret warlord that wants to take over the mountain fortress Salamanstron. But, Urthstripe the Strong has other plans. Mean while at Redwall Abbey, place of peace, the sword of their mighty hero has been stolen by two stoats that brought a disease and killed a man. See how they cure the sickness, recover the sword, and if Urthstripe can defeat Ferrahgo and the vermin in the action packed fantasy book, Salamandastron.

In this tale, Brian Jacques takes the reader back to the unforgetable world of Redwall abbey and the surrounding world. In Salamandastron, Ferahgo the assasin assults the mighty fort of Salamandastron. Salamandastron is inhabated by hares and ruled by the greay badger Lord Urthstripe. A war breaks out and some residents of Redwall abbey get tangled up in the adventure.
The story is terrific and the twists and turns in the plot will make this book hard to put down.
Mossflower (Redwall, Book 2) :: The Long Patrol: A Tale from Redwall :: Glass Sword (Red Queen) :: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature - The Red Queen :: Martin the Warrior: A Tale from Redwall

I know I'm going to get some nasty e-mails, but I have to say that, as a great fan of all things Redwall, this book is not all that great. I had a difficult time trying to keep the hares distinct in my mind. The dryditch fever story was boring, and Samkin was uninteresting. The saving grace of this story is Ferahgo himself, possibly the most dastardly villian in the history of the Redwall series.

This book is in my opinion, is the best ever written. I've read all the Redwall books, and this is the one I could read over and over. The dialect of the hares is fun to read, say, and hear. The vermin are discribed in deatail, right to the last missing ear from a fight long ago. This book will be an adventure whether you read it aloud, hear it on tape, or read it curled up in a nook.

The Redwall series has been recomended to me by several friends. At first I thought, Just another totally lame series, and did not give it another thought. Later, I decided to try it and WOW!!!! I had to keep reading the series! I have read Salamandastron, Mariel of Redwall, and The Long Patrol. I am currently reading Mattimeo.

I thought that this book was excellent! I couldn't put it down. This is a excellent book for a person that has a imagination and likes fantasy. This book is a great book for the Redwall series. Its about a young squirrel with a great sword and vermin trying to take Salamandastron. This is a great book and I recommend it to anyone with a liking for fantasy.

The first time I read this book, I was in seventh grade. I reread it in tenth, and found many major flaws in what I had previously thought a terrific book. Urthmight and Urthwhite's grandmother wasn't introduced until the end, when the mountain needed saving. If you've ever studied writing, this is calles 'Deux Ex Machina' or 'God in Machine'. It fixes a terrible mistake, or a bunch of mistakes. And of course, they get there just in time.

I've read the whole series at least once, and I think some of the other books in the series, such as, Mattimeo, Pearls Of Lutra, The Taggurang and Mossflower are a little bit better. This one is just a bit to sad for my tastes. I hate it how Urthstripe dies before Mara can say that she loved him. Still, a very good book.

This was definitely my favorite of all Redwall books. I love the regality of the badger lords, and the playful toughness of the Long Patrol. Ferahgo the Assassin is one of the best villains ever - he is not just "bad," but devious, cunning, intelligent, and extremely appealing. This was the first one I read and the best of the bunch.

Another wonderful book in the Redwall series. Tells many stories at once and makes you want to read on. This is what it's about... The badger lord Urthstripe the Strong and his fortress, the mountain of Salamandastron, are under siege by the vermin of the evil weasel Ferhago the Assasin.

I picked up the book and read the back. It seemed it would be fun. I started reading it. It was boring and stupid. I got through half the book and put the REALLY DUMB book down. I guess it's just me!)

This is the first book out of Brian Jacques series that I have ever read. I continued to read the others in the series but I always came back to this one. I think it was because the story was so touching, so heroic, and it left an imprint in your mind about how morals and loyalty should be kept.

The thing that I just love about this book is the high action and the constant battles. The book keeps you on your toes. Salamandastron was very enjoyable to me but has a lot of plot and a lot of things going on at the same time!

It's not one of the best Redwall novels, but it's VERY good. The part I didn't like was that vermin wielded Martin's sword for most of the book (same dislike about Martin the Warrior). Mr. Jacques has done better, but overall, I LOVED this book!
