This is another winner for Terry Spear. Grant and Collen's story is sexy and full of laughter with a little suspense thrown in. I love the Highland werewolf's and it was like coming home to old friends. If you've read the previous ones you won't be disappointed. I love her shifter romances, so enjoy

Thank goodness I downloaded this book for free-for the very reason that it wasn't exactly impressive. I liked where Terry Spear was going with this, but it just seemed as though this writer had very little talent at creating an actual plot. The best comparison I can make for the characters would be chickens running around with their heads cut off. Never once was a situation under control. Someone would be caught, then that person escapes. That scenario is continuous throughout the book. The whole idea that a wolf pack leader is supposed to lead and have order within his pack, was soooo not the case for this one. It was like he was the head but the rest of the body wasn't working. Cassie's character was actually kinda fresh/different. She would continually run away even though she is a straight-forward woman. The only thing that annoyed me about her, was the fact she would continually get caught, then make her escape again, only to find herself in a troublesome situation yet again and at the same place she first got into trouble. Whenever I got semi-bored with the book, it would kinda pick up. Not once did it get exciting-just kept staying on the thin line of interest. I would not suggest buying from this author until she learns to better plan out her books. As far as writing ability, can't complain too much here. She isn't up there with J.R. Ward or Kresley Cole, but I figure she is around Sherrilyn Kenyon's.

The book started out good. The heroine seemed like a strong independent woman focused on her career. Then halfway through the book, it's like her common sense went out the window and she "falls for" the hero - a guy who wants to dictate her life! After that, the story lost my interest.

It’s hard to believe that the overall main series of Heart of the Wolf is now in the twenty-something numbers and still growing. I have enjoyed every series and spin-off or related series But because I had read the earlier titles long before I started my Shifter Haven bog I’ve been going back to re-read, when time permits, those first stories that captured my imagination.
Leidolf and Cassie’s story is strong, fast paced, steamy and in some ways revisits the first story in this series. As a wolf biologist, Cassie has made it her goal in life to protect all wolves and to educate humans about wolves, explain the reality and caution about the intense hatred towards them in some communities. What is not known to the general public is that Cassie has actually lived among wolves, as one of them when her own world imploded due to the actions of human hunters. But most people, thankfully, don’t really know abut the wolves that can turn human and back again. Shifters are far from commonly known, and her kind will do everything in their power to keep it that way. Her goal is two-fold, protect the red wolves that she discovers and give back for something she believes she caused. She had spotted a red wolf in this area, and set up lectures to tell the townspeople about the truths about red wolves – as well as try to learn what the community could tell her about a sighted red wolf. She certainly wasn’t prepared for the intense attraction towards one member of the audience. Leidolf was polite, obviously interested and a temptation she could not act on. She was a lone wolf, had no intention of taking a mate… and Leidolf was far more than he appeared. Hopefully the hunter’s spray she’d used would continue to mask her scent, the give away that she, like Leidolf, was a red wolf shifter.
As the relatively new alpha of a pack that had been controlled by a mad, abusive, dangerous alpha Leidolf already had his hands full. The ranch was losing money and he had no clue why, some of the former pack mates were causing trouble probably more than he could prove at the moment, a recently turned member was certainly a handful that couldn’t be fully trusted – all of that was really quite enough to keep him busy. But attending the lecture of a wolf biologist was necessary to find out exactly what she’d sighted in his territory – wolf or pack member in their fur coats. His attraction to Cassie was immediate, sure he’d thought of taking a mate one day but hadn’t considered a human. As a royal he’d hoped to find his true mate at some point and bring their pack back to a solid foundation… but this woman was tempting, perhaps enough to change his plans.
Seduced by the Wolf has a lot going on within this story. There are threads woven with several sub-plots that having read the entire series I now know how some of them will play out… but back at the beginning I’d no clue that this overall series would be so long and so involved. I mention that because now in re-reading this story I hesitantly feel it’s a bit crowded… yet, every aspect of the story is needed to come to the conclusion. So, yeah – there’s a lot going on but it’s not difficult at all to follow the directions.
I liked Leidolf and Cassie both individually and as a couple. The secondary characters are strong and interesting – even the nasty bad ones. The chance to reconnect a little bit with the very beginning of this series was a nice touch. I felt there was some closure on some open threads, but… never say never, I’ve learned. The reality is that I enjoyed Seduced by the Wolf very much, it’s sexy, intense, a bit of a mystery and some very strong willed characters are involved. I believe any reader who loves Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance would enjoy this story and series. I realize it’s not always easy to go back to the very beginning of a long series – but if you can I would recommend getting to knows all of these amazing characters.
I re-read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. (I owned a paperback copy that lost it’s way during a move *frown*)

~ 4.5 A Highland Wolf Christmas Stars ~
Most of you should know by now I am a FAN of Ms. Spear. Her work is always a go to read for me. What I like most in her shifter books is that each story is unique. I never feel like I am re-reading the same thing over and over. It’s always fresh wither we are meeting old friends or new. Secondly I love that each character has their own personalities, quirky traits and fun loving family and friends. Third her writing flows effectively pulling the reader into the world, characters, and plot. And fourth each book can be read as a standalone. I always look forward to more of Ms. Spear shifter books!
I was so excited to finally get Gutherie MacNeill’s story. He was introduced in Heart of the Highland Wolf along with all his brothers. I loved how he is so uptight and a stickler for finances that he will consume himself in work. I always wanted to find out what women would finally break him of his habit and pull him out of the work-a-holic shell.
Calla is introduced in A Highland Werewolf Wedding where we see her as Cearnach MacNeill’s friend. She runs a party planning business, so she is in the business of spending money which is the complete opposite of Gutherie. Calla is a strong character with a good head on her and great friends that help her find the mate she has been looking for.
Even if you have not read any of the other books you will not be missing out. The author does a fantastic job of filling you in on each character and relationships. I like the author’s sense of humor and the Scotland sense are breath taking. The romance building is sweet and I loved their first kiss. It was a heartfelt moment. We have some suspense in that Calla is being stalked, though that storyline was light and at times felt added just to push the story along.
If your new to paranormal romance, love alpha wolves, or a nice light read; then I recommend giving this book or any of Ms. Spear work's a try.

Sourcebooks Casablanca sent this novel out in serial format in their newsletter over a few weeks. I found this to be the highlight of my daily email. I read paranormal, but had not read Terry Spear previously.
Wolf-shifter Colleen travels from America to Scotland to spend a year and complete the requirements of the inheritance – a Scottish castle. Grant and his family before him for generations have been caretakers of the castle, and he does not appreciate some simpering woman from America come to take over and tell him what to do. He plans a welcome that is sure to send her running back to where she belongs.
Colleen’s best friend happened to marry the wolf-shifter Laird of the next castle over, so warns Colleen the type of reception she is about to receive; and the fun begins. Between chemistry and clashes, family histories and dangers lurking around many corners; we have an exciting and engaging story which has me looking up more from Terry Spear!!

4.25 stars--A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is the fifteenth installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult Heart of the Wolf paranormal romance series focusing on the shifter wolves of the Scottish Highlands. This is event planner Calla Stewart and financial advisor Guthrie MacNeill’s storyline, one that began in book fourteen –Hero of a Highland Wolf- where Calla ‘stole’ Guthrie’s boxer shorts and ran them up the flagpole. A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone storyline. Many of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles but any important information is revealed when and where necessary.
Told from third person point of view, the storyline focuses on the upcoming Christmas celebration. As the MacNeill Clan make preparations for the holidays, they bring in their friend and events coordinator Calla Stewart whose personal life is spiraling out of control. Having called off her wedding and mating to Baird McKinley, Calla finds herself being stalked by the very man from whom she left standing at the altar. Enter Guthrie MacNeill-the wolf who would steal her heart and become her mate-if only they survive the coming attacks.
The premise follows the building relationship between Calla and Guthrie but both are coming off of recent disastrous courtships with other wolves. Their attraction to one another is immediate but neither one wants to jump into another relationship fearing heartbreak and rebound emotions. While the preparations for the holidays get under way, Calla’s ex fiancé has plans of his own that involve getting Calla back-at any cost.
The world building continues using the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands and Argent Castle, as well as the continuing story of the MacNeill Wolf Pack and their growing family. The secondary characters include many of the previous storyline couples as well as Calla’s family and a number of rival wolf pack members whose goal is to see Calla returned to their Clan.
A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is a story of betrayal, revenge, heartbreak and hope. Terry Spear pulls the reader into a seductive tale of action, romance and suspense during the holiday season and Christmas festivities; where two people who have lost find love with one another. Terry’s wolves will tweak your imagination and set your mind onto a path of hopeful futures.

This story is a classic case of Tag, Dodge Ball and Hide and Go Seek. The game of love abounds with the pursuit, the tease and the requisite bad guys to make this story a consistent page turner.
Cassie is the heroine and a lady who could define the word `survivor'. At a young age, her world, her life and her future was destroyed and she was left to fend for herself in the only way she knew how. She lived with real wolves. Because of that event she has dedicated herself to their protection. She's knowledgeable, earnest and knows no fear when she's on the trail of a new pack to observe and get to know. I would say she's a bit obsessed too. She has good reason, that's true. But she has turned into a woman who finds it almost impossible to trust another person, human or werewolf. So she does things her own way. For the most part, it's an admirable quality but as she finds out the hard way, being alone has some great disadvantages. And she has to eventually come to the realization that she wants more out of life than what she's settled for. It's that road to discovery which weaves throughout this book that allows a reader to get to know Cassie, and care for her. A reader wants her to be happy but wants her to lighten up too. She's so stubborn! Then again, she is an alpha female.
Leidolf is the alpha and pack leader. I've been waiting for his story because in previous books in the series, he seemed so alone and I didn't want him to be. Finally he has his lady love but the path to wedded bliss, werewolf style is fraught with peril - she is too stubborn to admit she wants him; he's got other guys wanting to usurp his leadership, teenagers doing stupid stunts compounded by raging hormones and a mystery that if left unsolved could get some people near and dear to Leidolf, killed. Talk about pressure. But the hunky red wolf is up to the challenge and won't let anyone deter him from his goal, and that's mating with Cassie. Unfortunately, he makes more than your average amount of detours in his quest to gain Cassie's agreement to mate. One of those places is downright embarrassing, which of course made me snicker. What endeared me to his character was his inability and in fact, total bemusement in doing business accounting and math. He was hopeless which made him flawed, vulnerable and for a romance hero, perfect.
The bad guys and the good guys get mixed up a bit for awhile. I had a hard time figuring out if the bad guys were really bad or misguided and the ones I expected to be troublesome ended up being halfway decent. A lot of twists and turns, misleading hints and diabolical misconceptions kept me guessing and wondering throughout the book. All the threads woven throughout were tied up either as an exciting action packed confrontation, romantic seduction with spectacular results or a comedic zing that lightened up the dramatic tone of most of this story. The secondary characters were varied, numerous and interesting. There are even adorable puppies to coo over.
Ms. Spear has another exciting winner on her hands with Seduced By The Wolf. It delves into pack dynamics and a man's sense of self. It shows the value of trust and the joy of protecting family. It's a book worthy to continue the wolf series that I fell in love with a few books ago. It's so well thought out and orchestrated, it's a pleasure to read. I hope she writes another one soon, and I can't wait to find out who is going to have a happily-ever-after next. There's no better recommendation that I can make except to say, read Seduced By The Wolf, it's a gripping and entertaining tale with a rich plot, dynamic characters and a love story sure to please.

It's back to the Highlands in Terry Spear's latest in her Heart of the Wolf Series. And as with the rest of her work, Terry tells a wicked tale. But her Highland Wolves are just a little more fun.
We've been skipping around between a couple of connected clans in the Heart if the Wolf Highland series and in A Highland Wolf Christmas, we return to the MacNeils. This time they have a party to plan.
Calla Stewart is a wolf on her own. After a disastrous romance that literally ended at the altar, Calla has focused on her party planning business. Everything is going great with the business but personally? Things are going a little bit differently. Suddenly said jilted betrothed has decided he wants her back. No matter what. The MacNeils have taken her under their collective wing, which means having a bodyguard where ever she goes. And the MacNeil that's taken on the job, sexy Guthrie MacNeil.
Guthrie MacNeill is the accountant for the clan. A bad investment that caused the clan to have to tighten their belts has left him wary of spending money. So when the clan decides to throw a major Christmas party, using Calla Stewart no less, Guthrie is determined to keep the expenses contained. But when Calls starts having trouble with the clan's nemesis Guthrie decides she might need hi s personal attention...*grins* wish I could get some of that attention... Calla had better beware because Guthrie is way more than a mere accountant.
Smoldering sensuality and Highland Highjinks makes this just a fun read. Add to that the mystery of why Calla is all but forced to consider the ex.. wonderful! Terry just offers us a delightful dish that I just want to eat up!
Thanks Terry for yet another Highland Delight.

We are back in the Scottish Highlands, and Guthrie, the final wolf/ man standing out of the 4 MacNeill brothers, is getting his shot at a HEA!
Calla Stewart has known the MacNeills for many years- she was best friends with Guthrie’s brother Cearnach as a child but Guthrie has always been attracted to her. Thinking that Cearnach wanted to claim her for himself, Guthrie always kept his distance. After moving away years ago and returning to the Highlands recently, Calla recently walked out of her own wedding to the alpha of a rival clan who is not taking it well. So she is seeking refuge at the MacNeill’s castle while she plans their holiday festivities for them and hopes that her ex will give up and go away.
Guthrie has always come across as the quiet, serious, numbers driven one in the family so I was happy to see him finally get to show a more playful, passionate side. Calla is more than a great match for him- she is a successful business owner, smart, strong, and independent with a mischievous side of her own. Through all the drama with her ex-fiance Baird trying to make life miserable as he tries to convince her to come back to him, Guthrie and Calla find time to have some fun and a few private heated moments along the way. The matchmaking attempts by the rest of the MacNeill clan provided some humorous moments as well.
The story is more about romance than sex since wolves mate for life and full-on sex is not an option until they are ready to take that lifelong step, but there is plenty that can happen along the way without going there- and it definitely does!! Overall I thought this was another enjoyable read from Terry Spear.

Carol Woods loves her job as a nurse. She always wanted to work at the hospital in Silver Town, Colorado. Her dream came true after she became a member of the wolf pack. Carol was viciously attacked by a red wolf, changing her forever. Carol has since resisted the shift, terrified she won't be able to shift back, but it's getting harder. Carol uses her unique visions to stall the shifts. The visions are telling her that something bad is coming to Silver Town and she may be the only one that can stop it.
Chester Ryan McKinley, a P.I., has been a bit obsessed with the lovely Carol since meeting her months ago during his investigation. He's not so sure he believes in her psychic ability but he knows he needs to see her again. It seems Carol's Alpha is determined to mate her to one of his pack and that just doesn't sit well with Ryan.
Carol is one of few female wolves and every male around would like the chance to mate her. Carol isn't too keen on mating anyone within the pack when the only wolf she can think about is Ryan, the one who doesn't believe in her. Danger lurks close as other wolves decide to take Carol for themselves and a mysterious illness starts attacking the local wolves. Can Carol outwit her abductors and solve this mystery? Who will become her mate; a rogue red or one of the loyal grays?
Wolf Fever is a fiery hot exciting novel! Action abounds from the first page keeping you engrossed. Carol and Ryan's connection is sizzling. These two are electrifying when together. Wolf Fever has it all: a fabulous couple and a thrilling mystery to keep you on your toes. I found the couple lovely and wickedly entertaining. The mystery is enticing, while the action keeps your blood pumping. The secondary characters are amazing and easy to become attached to. I can't wait to read more about the pack from Silver Town. This is my first venture into Terry Spear's werewolf world and boy have I been missing a fabulous series! I can say that it is absolutely okay to begin this series with Wolf Fever but I guarantee it will leave you wanting to run out and purchase the whole series.

A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is a wonderfully sweet holiday romance stock full of kilted Scotsmen (well more like Scotswerewolves) who relish in sword fighting and castles with many a hidden nook to have your romantic trysts underneath a mistletoe. Both Calla and Guthrie are featured in previous book in this series so it was neat to finally see more of these two and learn about their lives. These books can be read as a standalone so Calla’s wedding debacle is very easily explained for those who are just starting the series out with this book.
The plot is well paced with some fun action scenes in it. Calla is a strong and independent business woman so naturally having Guthrie being her bodyguard leads to some annoyances on Calla’s part. My favorite fight scenes revolve around some hilarious hijinks Guthrie gets involved in at a few of Calla’s parties. I liked the little twist involving Calla’s ex as I spent most of the story thinking that his stalking was a simple case of being a jilted fiance who is just very obsessive about wanting her back.
Calla and Guthrie make an adorable couple and I kept rooting for these two to make up their minds already about their feelings for eachother. Both of them are reeling from their past relationships and have to come to terms with what they went through. They eventually work out their issues through some very playful and sweet flirting that eventually leads to much more.

This author always writes books that are both fun and sexy and this her latest werewolf tale does not dissapoint. Set at Christmas we get to catch up with the MacNeil clan as a Christmas party like no other is on the cards. It's a time for celebration and Calla Stewart is the expert when it comes to party planning but her personal life is kind of in shambles! A disastrous romance that should be behind her but her stalker ex is not one to go quietly. Luckily the MacNeil clan are right behind her and indeed seem very protective but there's one particular member that Calla would like to get to know a lot better. Guthrie MacNeil may seem a little dour at times but he's about to show Calla that maybe all her Christmas wishes can come true!
In the previous book Calla stole Guthries underwear and raised it on the flag pole so it's high time that Guthrie gave a little payback! There's definately a strong sense of attraction between Calka and Guthrie but he's a wolf that's been burned before so inclined to be a little more cautious than others of his clan . Add the fact that Callas ex Baird is hanging around and you can begin to see that this is anything but a straightforward story. At first Baird is a bit of a mystery but as the tale unfolds the reader is drawn in.
I love these stories and they are always so entertaining and fun to read. Never a dull moment and full of sexy times! If you are in the mid for pure escapism then this is the series for you.

Wolf Fever by Terry Spear
Paranormal Romance Dec. 7th, 2010

Wolf Fever is the latest in Terry Spear's werewolf series. I really enjoy this series because the author has a down to earth writing style that makes her characters feel very real and believable. I found the heroine fiery and fun to read and the hero stubborn and sexy.
Carol's history has been troubled. When she was a child she had a freak accident and now she sometimes sees glimpses of the future. Although she has been ostracized, humiliated and called crazy, she still feels she must try to help the people in her visions from danger. The latest incident to help someone resulted in her being bitten by a werewolf and now she is the newest member of the red werewolf pack. But because turned werewolves (instead of born werewolves) are supposed to have poor mastery of their 'animal side' and because female werewolves are rare the alpha of the pack has been pressuring Carol to find a mate within his pack to guide and 'control her. But Carol finds she is not interested in the men of the red pack with the exception of the pack leaders brothers who don't seem to be interested in her! The rest of the men are pushovers and Carol finds she wants someone as strong as she is. She unexpectedly finds herself drawn to the gray werewolf alpha named Ryan. But Ryan is skeptical of her powers. And Carol realizes she can't have a relationship with a man who doesn't believe in her and even tries to deny their attraction! To complicate matters, Carol is haunted by visions of werewolves unable to transformation back to their human side. Because of this, she is afraid to shift into her wolf form which makes her more unstable. Can Carol finally accept her 'inner wolf?' Can Ryan accept his growing feelings and trust her?
This story was very interesting because so much was occurring. But the author's clear writing made it easy to follow and fascinating to read. I found myself wanting to know about Carol's visions and even wished that she had more of them. I really liked her psychic abilities since I feel it really enriched the story line. Plus Carol has become a stronger character due to her special abilities. They have scarred her and she has had to learn confidence in her powers and herself because unbelievers in the past have tried to make her feel like she was mad or strange.
I feel the courageous heroine made this book. I especially liked how she wants to be taken on her own terms. She wasn't going to change herself to suit other people or make their lives easier because they didnt want to believe her. She had plenty of: resilience, fortitude and moral integrity. It was a little frustrating that the hero took a while to realize what a good thing Carol was. He was a solid and sexy character but I really loved Carol!
This was an involving story that I simply had to finish. I love the world the author has created and can't wait to read more, especially about the red alpha's brothers?!

Enjoyed Leidolf but Cassie was getting on my last nerve will all the back and forth putting everyone at risk. I thought they knew who was a royal without being told but I guess not. I thought Leidolf was supposed to have some type of special powers or something, I was hoping that we'd find out in his story but...The deal with him proving himself I didn't see it, the ending seemed rushed and made him seem desperate. Seems like he has a bunch of royals in his pack but it took away from the "royal" status seeing that they let the old leader do what he was doing. I thought Cassie would be related to Devin with her background, seems like the stories are about to get into repeat mode. In this one I realized I kind of skim over the sex scenes, they all seem the same and I can't stop from wondering what ehy must smell like seeing they seem to take place when no one seems to bath. Kind of funky to read about when the last time a bath happened it was days or after running around in the woods etc. Good for a stand alone but if the next one is a repeat with new characters I doubt I'd continue on.

REVIEW:
Another good Highland Wolf story by Ms. Spears. I enjoyed reading about Guthrie & Calla. These two were fun to read about in Hero of a Highland Wolf when Calla stole Guthrie boxers and hung them up on a pole. From that moment on I knew these two would be great fun to read. And of course the did not disappoint. Both are coming off of bad breakups and both are a little gun shy about a new relationship. Yet they can’t seem to keep their hands and lips for that matter off each other. So rationally the only thing to do is court right? Unfortunately the pass and the people in it keep coming back to try to hurt Calla. But that doesn’t stop them from having a great story.
I am looking forward to the next installment in the Highland Wolf series.
Favorite scene: what is a male wolf to do when trapped under a Christmas, while trapping the she wolf he is interested in under him? Well kiss the hell out of her of course. hehehehe Love it. Kissing under the Mistletoe my but, new holiday tradition kissing under the falling Christmas tree.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley & SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

I loved Guthrie, "nay," Guthrie said, being his stubborn self. "Everyone will be celebrating. You need me you can count on who will be dedicated to watching over you." When Calla and Guthrie are together they are seriously cute, "she smiled wickedly up at him. "that...we're courting? Aye." He gave her the most devilish look back, and she thought it meant that he was seriously considering returning to the garden room tonight." Calla that girl sure appreciates her man, "in his arms, she loved the feel of Guthrie's hard body against hers, the way he smelled wolfishly excited to be this close to her, the way he seemed to want to be with her and only her." Sometimes our boy just wants to be next to his woman and nothing is going to stop him, "aye." But he stayed beside her. "I haven't been close to you all day, and you have no idea how hard that's been." He also sometimes gets ahead of himself so it's up to Calla to sometimes state the obvious, "you still have your pants on," she complained, tugging at him to take them off. He was aroused to the ninth degree, wanting to be inside of her, to slake her need and his as well." I really do love this series and I'm waiting for more.

This was a horrible storyline. Your daddy was a bad person so you must be bad too so I ( a grown ass man leader of my clan) will use juvenile tricks to make you (my employer / owner of the castle my clan is dependent upon) feel unwelcomed, lose your inheritance, and leave so your male cousins will inherit the property instead. The subplot was even worst. My grandfather was the manager of the property until your grandfather discovered that my grandfather was stealing from the owner and told the owner. The owner fired my grandfather and hired your grandfather to manager the property. In retaliation, my grandfather killed your grandfather's wife because without his love (wife) he and would be unable to function and end up being fired. Since he was still able to manage the property, your grandfather was killed by grandfather. Yada yada yada UGH. Terry Spear continues to add sex scenes but all her men are minutemen with the same kiss, suckle, plunge, her first then him formula. All that male power just wasted in her books. As wolves they live longer lives than humans yet her characters no matter their age reek of immaturity. I am truly done with this hit and miss series. I definitely don't recommend this book.

A Highland Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear has an alpha wolf and a strong she-wolf who fall for each other. Calla is a party planner who was hired by the MacNeill clan to plan their Christmas celebration. Guthrie MacNeill is the financial adviser for the clan and he has to assist Calla in the party planning. The story is described this way, but I found it was more of a carry over from a previous book. Calla is being protected by the MacNeill clan from her ex-fiancee while she is planning their Christmas party. Guthrie is one of those assigned to protect her, and both he and Calla try to fight it when they start falling for each other. Unfortunately, this book wasn't a stand alone to me. I enjoyed the story a lot, but there were so many references to story lines that had happened before this book and no explanation for those who hadn't read the previous story. I will most likely go back and start this series over from the beginning because the writing was strong and enticing, and I would like to get the back story for this one. This story gets a 4 star rating instead of the 5 stars that it probably would have gotten if the back story had been explained better.

A Highland Werewolf Christmas by Terry Spear is the 15th book in her Heart of the Wolf series. This book focuses on Guthrie MacNeill and Calla Stewart. Calla recently left her fiancé at the altar and has gone to stay at the MacNeill castle for a couple weeks. Both Guthrie and Calla are on the rebound from previous relationships but they find themselves drawn and attracted to one another. I really enjoyed the banter between these two characters. Their romance is sexy, funny and sweet.
A Highland Werewolf Christmas is a fun and charming love story. I quite liked it. It’s a story you can easily sink into. It’s heartwarming with a bit of danger and suspense. The romance develops at a fairly quick pace but I still found it believable. All in all, A Highland Werewolf Christmas is a fun and entertaining read, great for the holidays. I would recommend it to fans of the series and anyone looking for a good holiday paranormal romance.

This series is getting better and better as the stories come, plus what romance doesnt include hot men in kilts with nothing underneath. This is about Colleen Playfair and she just inherited properties in Scotland including Farriage Castle where Grant MacQuarrie and his pack runs and lives. So in order to get Colleen to leave the castle and leave order alone for Grant to manage, Grants will make her stay unwelcoming but being barbaric men when she first visits the castle. What Grant soon finds out puts a damper on his welcoming party. Colleen is BFF with Julia Wildthorn and Julia tells Colleen what Grant and is BFF & Julia's mate Ian had plan for her, well most of the plans there are still a few surprises that Colleen will soon discover where Grant is concerned. It wouldnt be a great story with the bad man, including Archibald that wants Colleens properties for his own doings and Grant his pack, Ian and his pack will help out keep the bad man & his buddies from getting what they thinks is theirs.

love how Cassie fooled Leidolf into thinking she was human but wished it could have gone on longer. don't like the fact that her American wolves expect the female to fall all over them and do as they say. enjoyed the story of how she found her cousin and how they ended up in the zoo and how the teens set out to save them. loved the give and take between Cassie and Leidolf and the fact that she did not go along with what he always wanted. alsoEvan loved Alice and he belonged to Leidolf pack and so did his father. in another book Evan was the foster of 2 navy seals and he loved Alice. believe that she needs someone to keep the continuity of the books better she has made several errors in this book that don't go along with other books. she has made this error is some of her other books also and it is jarring.
i definately need to start the series all over again and read it in order

A light and readable Highlander werewolf love story.
Guthrie MacNeill is in cupid's path and the arrow's flying from Calla Stewart.
With his clan's finances to protect and a luscious wolf maiden needing the same, Guthrie is conflicted. Could Calla be his mate? Is he acting on the rebound?
Calla meanwhile is asking the same questions. After all this is the man whose boxer shorts she'd hoisted up the flagpole before her friend Julie's marriage to clan leader Ian.
Just having walked out on her fiancé Baird McKinley virtually at the altar, she just needs some space and time to come to grips with her near disastrous marriage, and to continue to develop her business as an events planner. Julia wants her to help plan the McNeill's Christmas celebrations.
Neither Guthrie or Calla count on Baird's continued obsession with her.
McNeill clan favourites are ever present in the background.

Seduced by the Wolf was the best of Spears' werewolves so far, but then again I was waiting for Leidolf to get his book (he's made short appearances in several of the others)
When wolf biologist Cassie Roux comes town to give a lecture, pack alpha Leidolf finds himself captivated by the enticing redhead. But since she's only human, she's not mate material. But Cassie's actually hiding a lot, and discovering that there are shifter's in town is going to make her job more difficult and her attraction to Leidolf is going to make her life even more so.
One thing I like about Spear's series in general, is that unlike some other shifter paranormals in which you could easily substitute 'vampire' or 'demon' for 'Lupus' without affecting the story, Spear's characters are not just called wolf shifters - there's bits of wolf behavior and pack dynamics woven into the characters and their relationships.
What I liked about Seduced by the Wolf in particular, is that I liked the pull between Cassie and Leidolf and found it amusing that at the same time Leidolf is lamenting that Cassie's not a wolf so he can't keep her and Cassie is lamenting that Leidolf is a wolf so she can't just love him and leave him. And I really liked Leidolf later in the story when the deviously seductive alpha discovers Cassie's secret and tries to get Cassie to stay and I like how Cassie manages to avoid much of Leidolf's clever entrapment.
Ultimately, my only nit with the story was that as Leidof's mate, Cassie wasn't really willing to compromise to have the relationship with him - she just wanted the perks without giving up much to get them.

Loved this book and now the last MacNeill brother is mated! I loved Calla from Cearnach's book and love her and Guthrie together! They really are a perfect fit for each other.
They had some trouble in the book with both of them reluctant at first to enter into what could be a rebound relationship considering they were both not long out of serious relationships but everyone was routing for them to get together! The whole MacNeill clan wanted to see Calla and Guthrie happy together and had a bit of an conspiracy going to keep pushing them together!
They also had a lot of trouble from Baird (the wolf Calla left at the altar) who was determined to get her back to save face and if he didn't get her he was prepared to kill her rather then let her be with Guthrie.
I was hooked from start to finish and I'm hoping this isn't the last we see of the MacNeill clan, even if all the brothers are mated now!

Another book down in this Heart of the Wolf series. I feel as though Terry Spear does a great job in capturing an audience into the world of these wolves. The books are filled with pages, but makes for a lightweight read. This installment was pretty good and I did enjoy it, but I felt certain aspects of the books could have been better.
I've been wanting to read Leidolf's story for a while now because he tended to pop up in almost every book so far. So going into this book, I was really excited. I enjoyed this the story a lot, along with the characters and the fast pace of the story. The romance department was kind of lacking to me though. Cassie and Leidolf had an attraction to each other and you could tell. I did like it a little bit, but I didn't feel it was an actual romance. I'm not explaining this well. There was romance, but I guess it wasn't developed enough. I felt like throughout the entire book the two was in the 'dating stage' not the 'love stage' to be mating. I don't think the words 'I love you' was uttered once throughout the entire book. Not even in the end! And I didn't even realize it until I got to the end of the book.
Overall, I thought the story was good, but had a few lacking elements. The book had some good characters and great action :)

I enjoyed this easy read from beginning to end. I can't say exactly why it caught my attention but it did. Maybe it is the combination of the smooth flow of the story and the nice strong, alpha characters with their conflicts to be reckoned with. There was a good steady pace with no slow areas.
Carol, who is a strong and dedicated nurse/helper, is struggling with having been recently turned into a red werewolf. That is not her only problem. She has been psychic since she was seven and has had to cope with those who consider her crazy, a freak or a fraud. Her visions are showing her danger for the werewolves as they get stuck as wolves and cannot turn back. So she is fighting extra hard not to shift. Meanwhile the pack leader is concerned she will not have control and he thinks maybe he needs to find her a mate to help her transition.
Ryan is a PI gray werewolf from another pack who solved a murder case five months earlier with the help of Carol's descriptions. He doesn't believe in psychics, especially after having a bad experience with a fraud. He is convinced that Carol overheard clues and that she couldn't have seen the details in a vision. He is intent on questioning her further so he can put the case behind him. Or maybe he really just wants to see more of her and has accepted that fact yet.
Ryan shows up in Silver Town a few steps ahead of some red wolves who try to kidnap Carol. Now he is determined to be her protector even if he has to confront the local pack leader, and his two single twin brothers, to get the position.
There is plenty of action throughout the story: some fun times of play, some tense dangers and some very sexy chemistry. The sensuality and sexual encounters are handled well. There is lots of steam but no crudeness. The author gives consistent attention to werewolf detail. I think this author has a knack for smooth writing that easily engages your attention and keeps you involved through to the end. This is the second book I have read in this series and I really did enjoy it.

Review courtesy of All Thngs Urban Fantasy:

As if living with precognitive abilities in an unbelieving world wasn't hard enough, Carol Woods now has to adapt to being a newly-turned werewolf. Even worse, her new pack doesn't trust her ability to stay in control (and stay hidden), so Carol must choose a mate or remain under the pack-leaders' supervision. Females are rare, and she quickly goes from feeling like a wallflower to having all the attention she can handle.
As an adult turned werewolf, Carol has a lot to learn about the wolves' customs and culture. This was both interesting and useful to read, as WOLF FEVER was the first book I read in the Heart of the Wolf series. Learning alongside Carol, I soon realized that this was no overwrought "forced to marry" situation. The pack was more like a huge family eager to match-make. Enthusiastic, sometimes embarrassing, but always with their heart in the right place. Spear was not afraid to take risks with her characters, and gave Carol the luxury of more than one attractive candidate to consider.
Of course, it does not take long for Carol to identify her hero. To me, Chester "I go by Ryan" McKinley wasn't as interesting a character as Carol, but I appreciated the humor of a werewolf that doesn't believe in psychics. Also, in Spear's mythology, werewolves are bonded for life once they have sex with another wolf. This makes for great sexual tension (and a lot of heavy petting). It was refreshing to read a paranormal romance where the characters can't fall into bed with each other right away.
There are many components that come together to make a good book, and WOLF FEVER made a strong showing in most of them. The closed world of the Silver Town wolves was of practical interest (how does an entire paranormal sub-culture survive unnoticed in the modern world), and the plot of this particular book was intriguing as well. However, the flow of the writing itself was hit or miss. I didn't want to stop reading, but it did detract from my overall enjoyment of the book in places. Spear did a great job drawing realistic wolf details and behaviors into the fabric her werewolf mythology, and that (combined with the good plot and characters), is enough to bring me back to the Heart of the Wolf series.
Sexual Content: Several scenes of sexuality and heavy petting (no wolf pun intended).

Carol Woods sees the future - and she's a werewolf. She's not a natural born werewolf - she was attacked 5 months ago and turned. Since then, she's been fighting the change (successfully so far) and Darien, her pack leader, is concerned. She's fighting the change because she's been having visions of some of the men in her pack shifting into wolves and not being able to shift back. In addition to trying to convince her to shift, Darien is also trying to convince her to take a mate, as females are a precious commodity and he doesn't want her attacked and/or stolen.
Ryan McKinley is a former cop, now a PI, who assisted Darien's pack a few months ago with a problem they were having. Since then he hasn't been able to get Carol off his mind - he doesn't believe her visions are real. So he's back on Darien's turf to figure out how Carol figured out the clues to his case.
When Carol is almost kidnapped, she hires Ryan to be her bodyguard. He agrees, and that's where things start to really heat up. The attraction is definitely there, but Carol can't be with someone who doesn't believe in her "talent", and Ryan needs a mate who can embrace her wolf. Then, Carol's visions come true and the wolves can't shift back and the pack looks to her to find a cure.
My thoughts: I really enjoy reading Terry Spear's wolves; she is very good at making the wolf come across in their human counterparts. I love her Alpha males, and even though she was a new wolf, Carol was such a stubborn Alpha female, it was fun to see the Beta males trying (unsuccessfully) to win her affections. The social hiearchy of the packs was also well-done; although not the hero of this story, Darien was a great Alpha leader who was willing to work with another Alpha to resolve his problems. The sickness plot was interesting - biological warfare within werewolf packs is a novel storyline and it worked here, providing a dose of urgency to the story.
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series - Heart of the Highland Wolf.

Cassie is a rare Royal red werewolf hiding in plain site as a wolf biologist dedicated to saving the real wolves by educating the public. Leidolf is now alpha of a dysfunctional werewolf pack. He has no time to go looking let alone court the needed alpha female, but when she comes into his territory he is not letting her get away.
Cassie has lost her trust and holds on tight to her "mission" of saving the real wolves, one at a time if necessary. Even as Leidolf pack tries every thing to keep her for Leidolf it is Leidolf who will have to compromise if he wants to win her for life. Alphas don't really know that word, but hey he is learning new behavior every day with dysfunctional werewolves.
As author Terry spear takes you through her world of wolf behavior and how it works in this Paranormal Romance, hang on for the ride. Each character has a story to reveal and getting them out into the open is an adventure though the Portland woods. While you are going through the loss, fear, love and hate with each new twist let us not forget the chase, we are after all following wolves! But who are we chasing? Cassie, the real wolf, zoo keepers, a lost biologist, pack members run amok, a mysterious new red female or killers? You'll have to read it to find out who gets caught and why. Have fun I did!

Hero of a Highland Wolf is an entertaining and unique take on the wolf shifter story. Colleen is a strong alpha wolf in her own right and arrives in Scotland to claim her inheritance by staying the requisite year and a day. I really enjoyed the way that Colleen's character was portrayed. Colleen is smart, compassionate, and down to Earth which makes her character very likable. Grant, being an alpha himself has his own plans for the irksome and unwanted Colleen. If his plan to scare her away right off the bat doesn't work he plans to put an end to any and all of her potential ideas and suggestions for change. Colleen, however, is much more than Grant anticipated and he is quickly left off center as his well crafted plans quickly goes pear shaped. Grant finds that he needs to regroup and rethink his approach to Colleen. It's always fun to follow the main male character when he is forced to readjust his behavior and reevaluate what he believes to be true. For Grant, Colleen is nothing like what he expected and he quickly finds that it is he who will have to bend a bit this time around.
The reader gets a glimpse of Spear's sense of humor in her writing right from the beginning when Colleen arrives at the castle and it continues to be evident straight throughout the book, even when dealing with unwanted suitors with nefarious intent. This book is a smartly written story that made me wish that I had been with this series from the beginning. Spear presents a solid story that is entertaining and moves at a good pace. Hero of a Highland Wolf is book 14 of the Heart of the Wolf series and although I read this as a stand alone and thoroughly enjoyed it, I would have probably enjoyed it a bit more if I was already entrenched into this world. However, sexy wolf shifters oiled up for battle and wearing kilts can overcome all kinds of obstacles when jumping into a story! If you are are a fan of paranormal romance Hero of a Highland Wolf is a safe bet for an entertaining make you happy read! I will definitely be reading more of Terry Spear's books in the future.

I liked how this family remains tight and always have each other's back. I haven't read most of the books in this series, because they are out of my price range. But, I didn't feel lost with all the character's, their relationships seem to flow
We have HEA, but it certainly isn't a smooth ride. There isn't a cliffhanger, which is a big plus since this is a series.
We have passionate lovemaking which is somewhat descriptive, but not towards the erotic type. The lovemaking is a small part of the story.
Yes, I recommend this story, but it isn't a warm and fuzzy Christmas Story, so be warned. (ljb)

A Highland Wolf Christmas (Series: Heart of the Wolf , #15)
This story is Guthrie & Calla's. Calla is being stalked by her ex fiancee Braid and the MacNeill clan are protecting her.
Guthrie has been wanting Calla for years. And now he is trying to do the right thing and give her time to get over her ex because
he does not want to be in a rebound relationship. Been there done that.
Calla is a "party planner" and is organizing a Christmas Party for Julia the wife of Ian and clan laird.
If you like Scotland, sexy highlander who shift into wolves, laughter, a bit of sword play and romance then
you will not want to miss this awesome story. Terry Spear has done it again

A Highland Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear
Paranormal Romance -Oct. 7th, 2014

Calla Stewart is a werewolf that had found the wrong boyfriend. Another werewolf that is trying to force her to become his mate. Realizing her mistake almost too late, she flees before her wedding and is soon hunted by his pack. But another werewolf from another clan she is friendly with comes to her rescue. His name is Guthrie MacNeill. Guthrie is sexy and can’t help finding Calla attractive, too. But Guthrie has loved and lost. Burned by another woman, he isn’t ready to open his heart again. But when Calla’s ex keeps trying to get her back Guthrie can’t help riding to the rescue. Soon they find that although they both deny they want a real relationship they can’t help enjoying each other’s company. But to act on those needs will mean they are mated for life. Will they find love despite themselves or will they lose this chance to find their heart’s desire.
This was exciting from the very beginning. It begins with Calla fleeing from her ex. I liked that as soon as she realized her ex was not the man she thought he was, she refused to mate with him. Even though he brings his packmates to ‘convince’ her! Calla and Guthrie and meant for each other but the timing isn’t exactly perfect. Calla is still sore from her bully of an ex and Guthrie is still licking his wounds from an unfaithful woman he thought he loved. But to their friends, their attraction is obvious and so the matchmaking begins! It was fun to read their well intentioned friends throw them together subtly and not so subtly. As Calla’s ex tries to get her back, Guthrie is there for her. And the contrast between them makes it obvious how good Guthrie is in comparison. Soon their proximity and passion for each other can’t be contained! Guthrie is a honorable wolf and never tries to force himself on Calla like her ex. I only wonder how Calla stopped herself from falling for Guthrie sooner! Calla is smart and brave. She refusing to let the threat of her ex change her life. Although Guthrie and Calla have a smoldering passion for each other I liked how they almost seemed to be like long lost friends, too. They respected and cared each other. Theirs will be a long, lasting relationship.
Meddlesome, matchmaking friends and a zealous ex make this a highly entertaining and action filled romance.

Part of my fascination with this Terry Spear's wolf series is that she gets the technical parts down so that the story is incredible believable. You understand the transformation and the need for a pack. She does a wonderful job uniting the human condition with the animal instincts. I have really enjoyed the series so far, but this one wasn't my absolute favorite. That usually falls to the first in the series since there is always something special about your first time.
Carol is a newly minted wolf in Silver City (yes, I can hear you groan) with psychic abilities when she meets alpha Ryan who doesn't believe in psychic ability but is attracted none the less. Lots of heavy petting ensues since if they mate, they are mated for life. There are lots of hot moments in the story and overall this will get you through a cold winter night. Overall, this is a fun read if you enjoy some feverish werewolf sex.

'Wolf Fever' by Terry Spear is a Paranormal Romance. This is my first introduction to Terry's writing and my first ever werewolf book. 'Wolf Fever' is not the first in this series, or the first dealing with these characters. That said, I had no problems getting to know the characters and their struggles. As a series writer myself, I know the challenge of taking a reader who may not be familiar with previous novels and bringing them into my series without a hitch. (I'm 1/3 finished with my second epic fantasy). Hopefully, you will create a desire in them to read more of your work. Terry certainly did, I'm hooked.
The werewolf society that Terry created is well developed. They mate for life and so don't take relationships lightly unless you are a mere human. As a wolf clan, there is an Alpha Male. He's the big man, the big cheese, the boss of that particular wolfie group. The Alpha male in Terry's story is not the main m.c., and doesn't really have an Alpha part in the story. Nevertheless, he is there to give generous support and concern to the main characters.
The only real snag for me personally is the longevity of the characters in relation to finding that special wolfie someone. I had trouble believing that a man-wolf could live for 300 years unmarried.
Keep in mind, this is a romance with all the lustful scenes in great detail. I generally don't read romance because of this, however, if you want a well developed plot with in-depth characters who happen to be sexually active this is a story you will enjoy.

In Oregon, rancher Leidolf Wildhaven is worried about the purebred humans wanting to look too closely at the wilderness wolf populace. Not that the timing would be good ever for him and the werewolf pack he leads but this particular moment is disastrous as he just came from Colorado to take over as Alpha leader of a dispirited pack; werewolves who are without spirit and zest for life become easy targets.
Adding to his headaches is the leggy biologist Dr. Cassie Roux who believes wolves in the wild need protection from human predators. She has problems caused by her angry peer, wolf biologist Alex Wellington and her attraction to this rancher who says a wolf is man's best friend. She can sniff the lupus garou scent he emits. Courageous she tries to protect a she-wolf and newborn litter from rogues (wolves, hunters and enemy biologists) while also trying to keep her heart safe from a hunk of a werewolf.
No one makes werewolves seem real better than romantic urban fantasist Terry Spear continually does with her "Wolf" saga (see Legend of the White Wolf, To Tempt a Wolf, Heart of the Wolf and Destiny of the Wolf). Her fifth were-wolfish thriller is a strong tale of two dedicated people wanting to d the best for the wolfish populace in the northwest. Sub-genre fans will want to roam Oregon with this lead couple as outside a werewolf, a book by Terry Spear's is woman's best friend; inside the werewolf it is to dark to read (Groucho is turning over in his grave).

Teary Spear's paranormal romantic suspense novel SEDUCED BY THE WOLF is a sizzling, fast-paced romance novel. Her knowledge of real wolf culture is connected with the werewolf mystique effectively merging science and science fiction. Dr. Cassie Roux is a wolf biologist while Leidolf is a rancher. However, both are werewolves as well. The attraction between them is immediate and forceful. But Cassie is on a mission to protect endangered wolves. She sees Leidolf as a possible threat and hindrance. Leidolf has his own mission and take on their relationship. It all makes for exciting romance and adventure.

Darien and his pack keep a watchful eye over her, making sure Carol does not reveal what they truly are to the humans or cause any kind of destruction with her newfound abilities.
The tension rises when Darien insists that Carol choose a mate from the many available bachelors in his pack, but Carol is intrigued with only one alpha who is a true match for her, Detective Ryan McKinley. Ryan is an alpha grey lupus garous from another pack that wants to continue his investigation with Carol and questions her physic abilities. From the moment Carol and Ryan laid eyes on each other, the connection between the two escalates into burning desire, but soon dwindles each time Carol remembers Ryan does not believe in her paranormal abilities, which usually warns of impending doom.
Carol's visions are warning her that her pack members could be in danger of shifting and not being able to shift back to their human selves. Leaving Carol helpless to solve the problem; not only that, her vision's are foretelling she could be the target of a renegade pack of red lupus garous, who want to kidnap her and claim her for themselves. Ryan is going to have to man-up to his obsession with Carol and claim her for his mate before another rival does and what-ever is affecting Darien's pack transforms them all into wolves forever. Can Carol and Ryan work together to solve the mysterious visions haunting Carol? Or, will their pack be doomed to roam the earth as humans trapped in their wolf forms?
Wolf Fever is a sizzling hot read! Every page radiates with action, romance, mystery, and suspense. Terry Spear is an expert in her field of writing, storytelling, and creativity. The characters are vividly expressed, grabbing the reader from the start and the plot (I don't know how Terry comes up with these great tales) is spot-on throughout the entire read. Thank you, Terry Spear, for once again ensnaring me with one of your books. Wolf Fever is highly recommended to anyone who loves shape shifters (the were-wolf kind) and lots of sultry romance. . YUM! =)

The plot is a straight forward "star crossed lovers". In this modern day fantasy, the characters are all werewolves. Custom dictates that lady werewolves look to their own tribe for mates, since female werewolves are quite scarce. The leading lady is from one tribe, and the leading man from another. Throw in her uncertainties about being a werewolf (newly turned), an evil villain's plot, and some good friends.
This was my first book by Warren, and it was good enough for me to buy another. The book stood on its own well, despite being (though not mentioned on the cover) #13 of the author's books in this universe. The leading lady was confident without being a bully, which is quite refreshing. Light entertainment, suited for a lazy afternoon.

This was a fairly good book. I generally like this series. I did miss one and it seems to have been the one that involved most of the characters in this one. Still it wasn't too difficult to follow along.
Some SPOILERS below. I think they're fairly minor but don't read any more if you don't want to.
Why wasn't this one rated higher? I think mostly because the wolf fever situation didn't seem as dire as it should have. It wasn't until more than half way through the book that the first wolf got stuck in wolf form. We knew it was going to happen since the heroine had visions about it. So we were just waiting around for it to happen. The bad guys were pretty inept. When the evil genius doctor finally got page time, the hero immediately killed him. So we never figured out why he had created the virus or where he was coming from.
Also the hero, who was alpha of a neighboring wolf pack, didn't seem as alpha as he could have been. Maybe I like my alpha werewolves just a bit more snapping and snarling and aggressive. It took him 5 months to figure out that he wanted her for his mate. If they're too human seeming, what's the point in reading werewolf love stories?
The heroine had spent the 5 months since she had been infected as a werewolf fighting off the change to a wolf by using her precognitive visions to distract herself. She was scared of what she would be like as a wolf. When she does finally change we were in the hero's POV so got no idea of what she thought of being a wolf. No description of wolf senses or how great it was to run as a wolf or how scarry etc., no idea at all. If it was important enough to fight for 5 months, it was important enough to tell us about it.
Still it's a fairly decent werewolf series. I like that she tells stories of many different werewolves from all over the country and that they do not all follow each other one after the other. A pretty good read for werewolf fans. Not great literature but not a bad way to spend an evening.

Life in the Highlands is never easy. Especially if you are an ancient clan of Wolf Shifters who have no land of your own. Instead you have been gifted with the management of another Clan's Castle.
Terry Spear takes us back to the Highlands with Hero of a Highland Wolf (just in-case the title didn't give it away). It seems Scotland remains a country of mystique and magic. A place where there will always be someone who thinks they can just take what isn't theirs.
Colleen Playfair has been raised on American Soil cut off from her Scottish ties. When she inherits the Clan's castle with the caveat that she must live in Scotland for a year to claim it, she is excited. A year to discover her roots and to visit with a lifelong friend who lives as the Alpha Female to a clan not too far away, The MacNeills who also have close ties to the The MacQuarrie's who manage her castle. Seems pretty cut and dried, only The MacQuarrie's have an interesting welcome for her.
Clan chief Grant MacQuarrie has dealt with the Playfair heirs in the past. Never a pleasant job. While he loved the original Playfair and served her diligently, he despised her son.. and now her granddaughter who refused to ever meet the grandmother who adored her, is coming. He doesn't want her there. He is sure she plans to disrupt the running of the estate and destroy what has worked for centuries. His plans to move her to a local bed and breakfast for the duration of her stay are slightly inspired. Too bad Colleen has his number.
This was just a lot of fun! Plenty of headbutting due to an arrogant wolf who is sure he is right. It would have been perfect had he bothered to gather all the facts.. instead he has met his match and his mate. Now he just needs to convince her.
Of course what's a Scottish novel without some intrigue? And Grant and Colleen discover some secrets of the past that play into the present. Murders that went unproven and greed that remains.
I adore Ms. Spear's books and this one is no different. Strong characters with unique personalities. A gorgeous setting and powerful enemies.. Yep another great book.!!

4 stars-HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is the fourteenth instalment in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf paranormal romance series focusing on the wolf shifters of the Scottish Highlands. This is Alpha Highland wolf Grant MacQuarrie and American female alpha Colleen Playfair. HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF can be read as a standalone; many of the previous storyline couples play secondary roles but their history is not necessary to the enjoyment of this particular storyline.
Following the death of her beloved Grandmother, Colleen Playfair heads to Scotland where she learns that to claim Farraige Castle as part of her inheritance she must remain in Scotland for one year. Believing that the Castle staff is human, Colleen is feeling reluctant and ambivalent about her visit. But all too soon, she discovers that not only is the castle run by wolves, but the MacQuarrie Alpha wants nothing to do with her presence.
The relationship between Grant and Colleen begins rather comically when Grant plays one tactic after another to push Colleen away. From Highland Games style sword fights to wild boar dinners, Grant tries in vain to scare the American she-wolf away. Little does he realize that his inner wolf and most of the staff believe that Colleen, quite possibly, is his mate. I like that Terry does not play up the angst of a mating angle-Grant and Colleen know what they want and there is none of the push and pull of maybe or maybe not.
The storyline and thusly the relationship is slow to build as our leading couple dance around one another for a good portion of the book. Their attraction is immediate but their family history will reveal the animosity that goes back hundreds of years. The secondary characters drive a good portion of the story with humor, history and the potential for another mating.
HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is an imaginative, seductive and fun read-who knew wolves like to play dress-up as pirates and wenches. If you are a fan of the paranormal shifter storylines, Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series is must read: family, friends, werewolves and sex; add a little bit of humor and you have the perfect combination for romance and fun all capped off with a man in a Highland kilt.

Hero of a Highland Wolf is the fourteenth book in The Heart of the Wolf series and like all the books in this series it can be read as a standalone.
Hero of a Highland Wolf tells the story of Colleen Playfair an alpha and Grant MacQuarrie who is also an alpha. Colleen had recently inherited the family estate in Scotland, the same estate for which Grant was the manager. Now Grant was not keen on Colleen coming to spend a year at the estate, which was a condition of her accessing her inheritance, as such he was intent on doing just about anything to get her to leave. What ensued as a result led to some very hilarious moments. The one thing Grant was not counting on was for him to be attracted to Colleen which derailed his plans.
Colleen being the alpha that she was did allow the tactics employed by Grant and his pack to prevent her from taking charge. She pushed back and proved that she was worthy of her inheritance.
The characters were easy to connect with and they were very entertaining. The story did not move at the fast pace that I have come to expect from Ms. Spear, however it was not a boring read. She kept my interest by the way she outlined Grant’s and Colleen’s family history. There was mystery and intrigues embedded in the family history which made me eager to find out what direction she would be taking her fans. The pace built up near to the end which led to some nail biting moments. While reading I felt as if I was a part of the story as Ms. Spear descriptions were quite vivid.
Hero of a Highland Wolf is an entertaining and humorous read. It has the right blend of romance, mystery and intrigue. If you love shifter romance, which is filled with humour, mystery and intrigue then you need to get a copy of this book. I would also recommend the other books in the series as well.

REVIEW:
Grant will not let another Fairplay come into his home and try to take over. He didn’t let the last one do that and he won’t let this one do it either. But poor, poor Grant has no idea what is about to walk through his doors.
Colleen is excited and nervous to finally be at the Farraige Castle and ready to take on the manager of the estate too. No matter what he has planned she is ready. One little problem. No one told her that Grant and his clan were Highland Wolfs. Well doesn’t that just throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing.
I didn’t realize when I pick this book up that it was book 14 of Terry’s Heart of the Wolf series. But Hero of a Highland Wolf was easily read as a stand alone. Yes there were other couples together that made me realize that I might have missed a book or two before this one, but I would not have guessed I missed 13 :).
I really enjoyed Grant & Colleen. They are both alpha to the core yet they both turn to putty when they are together. Something that fires both of them at times. I loved the all night girl party that Colleen has with Julia. My only issue with this story is the drama. I would have loved to see that bad guy get a little more sneaky and maybe his ass handed to him a little more. But all in all this was a great Highland Wolf story :). Come one hot wolf shifters in kilts? Does it get much better?
I can’t wait to see what Terry has in store for these Highland Wolfs. I have my guess who is next and it should be a fun ride to watch him fall.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley & SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Terry Spears creates another masterpiece.
Colleen Playfair inherits a castle in Scotland and is there to see it and be there for awhile. Grant MacQuarrie already oversees this castle and is planning on giving her a welcoming that will be so intimidating, the new owner will just high tail it out of there, return to the U.S. and let him continue to do what he has been doing for centuries. So he thinks. He even recruits his best friend and neighbor to accomplish this as reinforcement to send this " older" woman home. So he thinks.
Colleen is ready for his little ploy. Little does he know, it is good to have friends in high places. This American wolf can be as stubborn as they cone when she wants to be.
Each one is planning on teaching the other some type of lesson. Low and behold for Grant, the Lass is beautiful, no old woman there. Immediately Sparks fly between these two, among other things. Let the war of the roses begin.
This book is just a hot, hot, passionate wolfish sizzle!!! This author has you falling for wolfishly delicious kilted highlanders. Great story!
Can't wait for her to continue with the next book soon....very soon please. I am so glad I received this gift. Incredible!!!!
This is my recommendation of a great hot read in the Highlands.

You know what happens when you (ass)(u)(me), well Grant MacQuarrie is about to learn a valuable lesson. When Grant finds out that Colleen Playfair is coming to Scotland in order to receive her inheritance he is missed. Colleen has to spend a year and a day to receive it, Grant has been down this road before with her father and it was highly unpleasant. Expecting the same situation from Colleen, Grant has a plan to scare her off before she even sets foot in the door.
If full highland garb with swords and naked chests, his clan is out fighting on the land as Colleen drives up. Grant has no idea Colleen is ready for his antics and has a plan of his own with her camera and enjoying the merriment of the action play. Bewildered Grant is a bit unsettled as Colleen begins to befriend some of the clan and Grant can't seem to stay away and steals a few kisses. Before long Grant is deciding she might just need to be his mate, but Colleen isn't sure if she can trust the man, wolf, or beast but she sure is willing to try.
Very fun, full of humor, romance, and wonderful characters. You are swept off your feet as if on your own highland adventure. Loved Grant, he is obstinate and knows there is something with Colleen but as any good man who doesn't want to fall, he crashes and I relished in it. Fantastic read.

Ah, those Highland wolves should just RUN when American woman arrive on their doorsteps. They really stand no chance of keeping their hearts to themselves! This is #14 in Ms. Spear's Heart of the Wolf Series. It's a stand alone, although you'll probably want to read the others, because, really...SHIFTERS! Hot Highland SHIFTERS!
Colleen arrives at the castle that she's inherited. She's been forewarned by her best friend that the manager, Grant, of the property is going to try and scare her off. Not that a whole bunch of Highland warriors, wearing kilts and swinging broadswords, would cause her to scarper off. Nope, she's tickled at all the shirtless and oiled men that fill her courtyard.
She is surprised that the men are all shifters. Her father, a jackass if there ever was one, had griped that they were all human.
Once again there are some steamy times as these two work to find their way together. There's a party, with a pirate theme, that had me giggling.
Yep, the Highland wolves should just roll over and show their soft underbellies when the American women come to them. I will definitely be reading more from Terry Spear. Good then she's so prolific!
