Disappointing. I was hoping for more insights, tips and anecdotes. What I got was a lot of self aggrandizement. He spent a lot of time telling us how accomplished he is and nothing much about how he did it. Kind of like his presidential bid. A lot of talk about what he would like to do but nothing on how he will accomplish it.

I found this book to be initially interesting and even very inspirational and motivating, but about 2/3 into the book, I found it became repetitive, with the same old trite advice being repeated over and over again: “If unexpected challenges ever come your way, keep your head up, plow through them and never give up.” Donald Trump gives constant examples of how dress rehearsals went wrong for him, city councils blocked him from developing properties and even how he ended up on a three-hour cruise of Manhattan by accident one night. In each instance, he puts on a positive attitude and everything always miraculously turns out great for him. I found this to be so trite, superficial, hackneyed and divorced from reality; as though all you need to do in a difficult situation is put on a smile and everything will work out great. Time and again, he gives examples of how he got through situations by just adopting a positive attitude. I found his stories initially interesting but increasingly unbelievable and lacking any real depth or analysis.

This books is downright inspiring. You'll feel that when you are either reading this book or listening to the audio version, that the words really embody Donald's personality and you feel like you are getting a one-to-one lecture with him as more of a father figure.
Donald starts off by giving a background of his childhood with a story about how he used to read the real estate listings as a kid while others were reading comic books.
One of the best quotes of the book: My father once said: "know as much as possible about what you're doing while you're doing it" (each failure and adversity adds up until you are ready to deal with a big problem by using a combination of what you've learned previously: a.k.a. "experience")
I feel that too many people have a bad impression about Trump although if you read through this book you'll learn that he truly gives back and enjoys throwing charity events. He gives an example of a party that he throws and even says that he doesn't have to do things like that but it makes him feel good to see other people happy. He states that one reason why it pays to never give up is that eventually one day you will be in a position to give back and do something meaningful.
A good theory that Trump has about hiring people:
Q: "How do you deal with people who have made the same mistakes repeatedly against advisement?"
A: "I don't. Those people are working for other businesses owners now."
Trump says that he allows people to make mistakes but does not tolerate those who make the same mistake repeatedly. It shows that he is not quite merciless but he is also shrewd and expects the best from his business partners.
If you plan on going into real estate just to gain power or money, then it's not enough: you have to want to provide value and give to people.
This book is not written as a how-to book in a step-by-step demonstration in how you can build a better business or invest in real estate. It is used more as a book to show how the mind and will power are the most power aspects in overcoming any obstacle. He tells more as a blind optimist tale than a cautionary list of trifles that you can expect to face along the way to greatness. He does give examples of specific problems that he's had with his real estate development business, such as gaining city ordinances or working with troublesome builders, but the moral is that any difficulty can be overcome if you have enough persistence. If it works for Trump, it should definitely work for you!

It is hard to think that Trump, with all his successes, faces any problems, but in this book, he shows us how he dealt with some of the challenges in his life. I found it refreshing to read about his mistakes because I can relate to them, but on a different scale. It was fascinating to read about him being $1 billion dollar in the hole in the 1990s and making the biggest comeback in history, which even put him in the Guinness Book of World Records.
People struggle with being $20,000 in debt, but $1 billion is unbelievable. He said that this was his lowest moment in his entire life. But he did not give up. Instead he focused on the solution, not the problem. He also admits that this event taught him to be a better businessman and entrepreneur. I would hate to go through a similar experience. Instead, I will pay $20 and learn from his mistakes.

At first I did not know if I was going to like this book but then the more I got into it the more that I liked it. The book is a simple read the chapters are short and to the point. There is something that a business person or sales person can take from every challenge that Trump had. There is a message in the book to find a way to make the idea or project work where all can win. I do like this book and will read it again for the simple reason that is in the book, without adversity there is no gain.

This book is a great read. It pumps me up when I read Mr. Trump's books and this one is no different. I've used his advice several times in my career and have climbed up the corporate ladder thanks to it. He definitely knows what he is taking about, he's been up, down and up again. He's a winner and I've learned a lot about life reading his books. Everyone should read his books to learn how to handle themselves in work situations (negotiating salary, asking for a promotion, dealing with clients are some examples). Never Give Up tells you how to pick yourself up when you are down. We all make mistakes, even Mr. Trump and it's great he shares how he bounced back from being down.
It would be cool to sit down and talk with him but since the majority of us can't, these books are almost as good as sitting down and chatting with The Donald himself. Great work, very inspiring and highly recommended from me.

This is the first book by Donald Trump bought or read I could not give it more than three stars - I appreciate Donald Trump was not in the best financial situation in the early 1990's but the fact remains he came from a rich family if he did not have the contacts to get him out of trouble then I'm sure he could have turned to his parents. Most of the stories written in this book are straight forward problems associated with real estate development and are completed within two or three pages, WHAT made me buy the book was the interest in Donald Trump overcoming those financial problems that caused him so many troubles in the early 1990's BUT no such luck very little detail of the problem and very little detail as to how he overcame them.

This book was a nice and easy read. It contains some new motivating and inspiring words from Donald Trump. Its main focus is on perserverance: a main ingredient on being successful. One must always stay strong and focused while trying to build a successful company. Trump explains this in a great way to the reader.
I highly recommned this book to anyone interested in a great business book.

"Trump Never Give Up," is a must read! One of the first things Mr. Trump mentions, is how important it is to believe and have confidence in yourself. I am a firm believer in this. Having confidence can pull you through any challenge life may throw at you. This book is a must read! It's written by a genuine, BRILLIANT MAN, who has been through many challenges, and has come up on top, every time.

I thought this book was ok. I was mainly about Trump and examples of problems he had. Pretty much he is saying this, that, and the other happened to me and I dealt with it. To some people it might seem like he is bragging because he is mainly talking about himself and his problems. I like Trump, but if you think he is arrogant you might really think he is arrogant after reading this book.

While I was in Singapore/Kl last Feb, I watched the 2 last episodes of the Apprentice. The word of Project Manager which DT kept repeating and the last assignment "the commercial" were the main reasons I picked this book from Borders bookshelves. At first, I was not impressed with the beginning chapters. It could be because I had always perceived that DT has lack of humour, when the guys in the boardroom were always paranoid and I was looking for business model.
As I read through the books, I started to discover a different man, he reminded me of my late dad friends, whom I picked a lot of advises and real life stories from their past experiences in life and businesses. It also reminded me that when I argued and digged more from their stories, it would rather seem that on some occasions an external factor /body came in and saved them.
However, I would not deny that these are real life stories to learn from. The danger is that "SOME" of these advises cannot be practised by anyone. You must be in the position of DT (achievement) in order to throw them out.
I like chapter 8: Frequently Asked Questions, and question No.1 is the best of all. I also like the "quotations used" in the chapters, and DT own expression and characteristic e.g. "think big attitude" and "changing thought patterns". The format or approach of "Coach Trump section" did not have an impact on me.
The one answer which I have been searching in many books but in vain is "How do you deal with or wipe out office politics?" This is a common practise in the developing world. Here home, we leave in this misery.
Mr. DT, You have known Dubai, look towards the South, we will see "Mauritius island" my home town. The island was known to famous American like Joshua Slocum who took off from Boston on a solo sail around the world in 1895, and transited in Mauritius. In 1896, Mark Twain wrote: "You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius." "Mauritius -Integrated Resort Scheme" which is a similar concept to the Palm Project in Dubai is opportunities for real estate.
The Island has achieved some significant economic progress in the past 4 decades since 1968. But in my opinion, we failed building a caring nation, and although we are proud to be free from terrorist attack, but we live in an insecure state of mind, the blame should be placed on the political leaders. Returning to Mauritius with a Doctor of Business Administration degree from top University in Australia and being the son-in-law of the former Mauritius President do not turn me into someone special. I guess that I should "never give up".
I think that what would very likely turn your books & the message "never give up" into a million copies sold, is to have an audio version. I would personally prefer to hear those stories and words "never give up" from you. Never give up.
Best regards

Donald Trump has amazed and confounded other real estate developers. He's been up and he's been down. He's been a success in whatever he's put his hand to.
In this book, Trump give excellent advice to anyone who wants to be successful, weather it be in business, in sports, or in life.
An excellent addition to anyone's library.

One of the things I liked about this book is that it didn't deal with too much phylosophy. Mr. Trump talks about his real stories and what he learned from them. The things that have happened to this man are quite amazing and he really never gave up. If it was for the most people, they'd sure as hell throw in the towel.
Aside from that, there are some great profound thoughts that he shares and how he uses them in real life. As usual, he talks about his father and the things he learned from him but, having said that, this is a book I easily read in 4/5 hours after I got it and it was a fun read.

I've read all of Donald Trump's books. A friend gave me a review copy of his latest book which I devoured in one sitting. Donald's specific anecdotes about persistence along with his outstanding savvy business acumen are a gift. If you have ups and downs in business and have been through some troublesome relationships, you will not be disappointed.

Trumps book "Never give up(..)" is definitly about him never giving up! The book gives diffrent stories about him struggling true life, from going under financially, then to record fast getting back on his feet against all odds. The book is okey, but often give boring stories with him bragging about how he overcome his problems/challenges. I give the book two stars!

Most people are losers. I don't forgive, I get even. You're fired! One liners from some of his previous books. This man's books motivate, encourage, and lead you on to victory. I'm sure this one is no exception. Let me at it. Click on BUY, read, consume, digest, absorb, and you'll be a better person than you were before. Learn practical advice from someone who shares and enjoys sharing from his own spectacular life.

This guy is at his best when he opens his mouth because that is when his con games begin. Think about it: Why would a person that is supposed to be very wealthy pitch infomercials? He has declared bankruptcy three different times with his Trump Casino in New Jersey yet he will tell his followers that he has never declared bankruptcy. I guess if my daddy left me several hundred million dollars, I am sure I could even make a few extra dollars. When his condo deal down in Baja, Mexico went belly up, he immediately took his name off the project and many people lost thousands of dollars that they invested. He secured a 40 million dollar loan from Deutsche Bank to build a condo unit in Chicago and now is refusing to pay the loan back stating pressures from a down economy is making it impossible to come up with the cash. This guy has to be one of the biggest snakes out there. I'm sure he was a snake oil salesman in another life.

Many of us have been duped by Trump and his get rich schemes.
The advice that he has handed out and his untruthful claims of
wealth and fame may have contributed to our chaos in economy.
The only way to accumulate monetary wealth is to spend less than taken in. I am sad that I was gullible enough to read this book.
Trump has taken advantage of bankruptcy laws to once again reorganize and this is the real review of any of his writings. Our way of life will continue by hard work and honesty and the knowledge that "real welath" is not in material trapppings.
