Ender Quartet Box Set

This is not your typical Sci-fi writing. The character development and deep insight into personal thought and motivations is superb. I highly recommend this series. The 2nd - 4th books are much deeper than Ender's Game.

Before the movie comes out, which depicts the first book in this set, I'd recommend reading at least the first book before seeing it. I don't think a film is capable of portraying the same themes and levels and insights that exist in the book. I don't think it has to. But I do think that it's worth experiencing the book because I'm sure the movie experience will be enriched by knowing the depths of meaning behind what's happening on the screen.

These books made my eyes water, itch, and turn red after reading just a few pages. Letting them sit outside the box for a few days while they are 'opened up' helps some, but then they are hard to put back in the box. I have been a readacholic for over 55 years and this is the first time i have encountered this problem. Buy a different edition or even better, don't be suduced by a boxed set, by them used like i usually do. As for the writing, it deserves five stars even if the subject matter makes me queasy.
