Meghan and Colin are excited that they will be celebrating their thirteenth birthday with friends at a campsite they visit every year. This year there are some strangers staying in the campgrounds. They get very curious which in turn gets them into a lot of trouble. Start of a good series.

Awaken is the first book in the Fated Fantasy Quest Adventure series of books. This book is about Meghan and Colin, who are twins getting ready to turn thirteen. But Meghan and Colin, while looking nothing alike, are very special. They can read each other’s thoughts and they can speak to each other through their minds. The twins are being raised by their Uncle, Arnon, and while they spend most of the year traveling, they spend every summer in Maine. They have not been there long when there are gypsies arriving as well. Most of the time they park next to gypsies and their uncle is very friendly but this time he is acting weird. The twins are not sure what is going on but the reader knows something is going to happen as Arnon talks to a friend Kanda about how when the twins turn thirteen they can no longer protect them from their future. The book moves really fast and I will let you the reader take it from there.

This book is really good. The characters are developed very fast, with the personalities coming through very fast. The book moves at a fast pace and keeps the reader interested. I would recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal stories, witch stories, gypsy stories, and stories about people with some kind of special powers.

I’m giving this book 4 hearts

Well this book was amazing. This book was something else and not too different from other books I read but still a little different. I was confused at times but then once I reread the sentence I understood it completely. This was and amazing book even though there were some spelling mistakes in here like other books do.

Wasn't sure about this book when I started reading, but really liked it. The only reason it didn't get a higher review was because it took to long to get moving. But toward the end then it picked up and ended being a really good book. I already bought the next book in the series so I will be starting it. So get this book but give it time and don't give up

intriguing enough that I think I will buy more in the series. It took a little bit to get going and then left a pretty good cliff hanger. Unfortunately there was a lot of descriptives that I skimmed which is not good, IMHO, for the authors talents.

Let me start by admitting something. I look for the free books on Kindle. Call me cheap, frugal, bargain hunter, whatever. So, I got this book because it was free. Never expecting too much, just light reading to pass the time while exercising. Was I wrong! I got sucked in big time. I couldn't stop. I kept reading, Book 2, then 3, 4, 5, and 6. Now, I'm dying waiting for 7. This series has been extremely entertaining and well written. Never dull with well developed characters and interconnected plots. Well done.

The books in this Young Adult (YA) series are fast, fun reads that even "old folks" can enjoy if they like fantasy adventure.

The only negative from my perspective is the book length vs. price. I notice that Books 3 and up are now $2.99 each. That's not outrageous, but buyers should realize that these are very, very short for "novels". At 115+ pages, they are 1/3 to 1/4 or less of a "regular" novel. So the price is not as much of a bargain as you might think. I checked some of my paperbacks. Even the award winners weigh in at 350 - 750 pages (the latter retailed for $8.90 ... a bit more than than a penny per page, if you want to be a bean counter). I would like to see ebooks priced significantly less than paperbacks.

I have all in the series so far and will be buying the later books. I would prefer, though, longer "books", perhaps with a bit of scene embellishing to better "flesh out" the mental pictures as you read. I'd also prefer each book to stand more on its own and not feel a bit like a serial that just ends until the next one.

Meghan and Colin Jacoby are about to have the summer of their lives. Fast paced coming of age book with lots of twists and turns that will keep you entertained from cover to cover. Turning thirteen never has been more complicated, fun, dangerous and thrilling.

I finished the book as I liked the potential, although I must have ended up with the apologised-for typos version. It is NOT a stand alone and it was as confusing and non-explanatory to me as it was to the heroes. I could have done with more explanation and less unnecessary detail. Some people like the book seller, and things like the moose, came and went yet I was not sure if they were important or not.
I personally need more than hints to entice me to buy the second books.
But I am sure there is a good story in there.

Rather predictable plot...seemed like just to introduce the characters and coming of age dilemma so that one would go buy the next book to find out what happens. Wish there had been a little more plot development in this book

This series is amazing!!! I have read the first 5 books twice while waiting for the 6th to come out! I can't wait for the 7th and 8th books to come out!!! I love the hunger games 150% and these I like so much more!! I am addicted to these books!! Each ends with a clif hanger that leaves u on the edge of your seat! The first book was AMAZING!!! It was also the slowest book so I think that says something...don't you? ?

Their normal campground for their summer vacation becomes a place of mystery new friends unexpected changes and magic. The twins have been raised by their uncle since they were two and always enjoy spending the summer at the camp grounds,it's the only place they ever stay very long as their uncle travels over the country. They feel as though their extended family resides at the campground what with the native American manager who secretly has a crush on their uncle. Then their is their best friend Sebastian and his parents Kay and Milo.
During this visit however the adults are all ill at ease about the gypsy that have camped next to the twins and their uncle and the sudden strange screeching flying shadows. But no one will say why. Weird things keep happening that can't be explained and the twins fear it is somehow connected to a new book the boy twin purchased at the festival and the gypsies. .. I would highly recommend this book to young readers I believe if they enjoyed Harry potter they will definitely enjoy this book it has twist and turns as the twins development of magic on their birthday and battering the monster type things that hunt the gypsies trying to prevent the passage to another realm leaving jae stranded till the next time the portal opens and the next fight occurs.

I have read better books... But then again I have read worse. Technical stuff out of the way first, there are quite a few misspellings and bad grammar usage so this series is probably self published. Suggestion to the author: find some people who will proof read for you. Many people will do it for free. The errors distract from the story and break the readers concentration and envelopment in the story. The books are short and always end with a cliff hanger, presumably so that you will hurry and buy the next book. This is irritating to me and will sometimes cause me to stop reading the series altogether. I know this technique was popular in the 20's, but the generation that reads fantasy today almost all have ADHD and impatient, immediate gratification issues, much like myself, and this is a big turn off for many of my generation and younger, which is the age group this is geared towards. I will have lost interest by the time the next book comes out and I will not buy it. I really appreciated that there were only a couple of cuss words in the whole series. She could have done without those couple. Foul language always detracts from a good book unless you are Stephen King - and if you are reading Stephen King you are not reading for good literary reasons anyway. The plot of this series of books (8 at the time of my reading) was OK, and I liked some of the characters. Unfortunately, the ones you will like the best aren't the main characters. Meghan, Juliska, Ivan, Amelia, Jurekai, and Colby are all brats who are headstrong with no initial regard to anyone else. It's tiring. My favorite characters, the kind Maria, protective Uncle Arnon, Kanda, Isabella, and the Song Spinner, hardly get any page time at all. A more developed backstory would have been good for Kanda and her tribe and for the Song Spinner, like she did for Jurekai's mother in book 7, but not an entire books worth, like she did Juliska, in case the author thinks that is a suggestion. A rewrite, or a suggestion for future work. It seems that in book 8 - the last one in the series at the time of my reading (01/2016 with the next book not out till Winter 2016) the author tries to show that Juliska was a fairly good girl, before she was traumatized - but it still remains that we all make choices in life, no matter what has happened to us, and just because we experience pain and loss and even betrayal in our lives in no way excuses becoming a rampant psychotic murderess. And that brings me to the most frustrating part of this series for me - book 7 leaves you hanging. There is only one more book possible before it becomes drudgery. But instead of wrapping the series up, the author leaves the story hanging while she back tracks into Juliska's backstory, doing what I already started - trying to show the audience how Juliska was once a good (ish) girl. I became bored and stopped reading about half way through. My suggestion - the series is OK. But don't start reading it until she has published all of the stories. And skip book 8 unless you just really have nothing better to do.

Awesome book. The author is so amazing and I absolutely love her books. If you read this book, and I highly recommended you do, prepare to be hooked. It will keep you engrossed and will keep you coming back for more.

This is a one day read, interesting story with many twists. Due to my desire to follow the characters, I will read the next book in the series. Good characters interesting plot, the mystical tale is well worth reading.

I enjoyed the story and liked the twins approach to problem solving. Colin is the underdog, and his sister Meaghan is the protector. As they grow up through the book, Colin begins to come into his strengths.

This book is up there with Gaiman's Graveyard Book The Graveyard Bookand North's The Wakers The Wakers (Volume 1). If you loved those books, you will love this as well.

Clearly the author was a young person, there were many errors and the story was incomplete. That being said, if you are just looking for a light read and have access to an imagination, this is very worth the price you paid. My biggest complaint is that they ended the book right in the middle of the big fight! There was no ending. If you want to know how it ends, BUY the next book in the series.

I would and have recommended this book to my friends. This was a very interesting concept to the magical fantasy theme. I love how well the characters were created and how well the book flows and leaves you ready for more.
