I was an award winning inner-city classroom teacher for 18 years and have been teaching preservice teachers at the college level for 17 years. Mr. Linsin was captured in words what I knew was the “formula” to be inspirational and happy. I loved my job and EVERY teacher needs to read this so they love their job. Today’s demands are out of control- he effectively brings it to the basics. Nice job! Outstanding book!

Just applying the first 3 pieces of advice would reduce teachers' stress level substantially. The other 8 pieces of advice are more challenging yet will be worth the effort to fully understand and apply. This book is thought-provoking and inspiring but is not a step by step guide. Instead, it shows how to make some changes in environment, thinking, and expectation to transform how and why you teach.

I already consider myself a pretty happy teacher, but who doesn’t want to be happier, right? Straight forward, simple changes to make in your mindset and day-to-day dealings with your students. I’m already making a list to start implementing tomorrow and another of practices to begin with the new school year.

Quite by accident I stumbled on this book. From the moment I started reading it, I knew it was the book for me. A teacher of 14 years, I was ready to quit. The joy was gone, along with my self confidence. As I read, I saw myself in every description of what not to do as a teacher. But instead of bringing me down even more, the sage advice has given me hope that I can still become the teacher I used to be. Before I became disillusioned, cynical, overburdened, and unhappy doing what I had always loved to do.
The first day back with students and already I dreaded the second day. Not any longer. I know I can be an even better teacher now that I have a plan that makes sense to me.

The idea of focusing on the 20% that really matters was an eye opener for me. Simply trying to do too much has been my bane for too many years.

This book will help any teacher understand that there is great joy to be found in teaching - perhaps it may help the veteran teacher enjoy the final years of their career rather than simply endure until retirement.

I wasn’t expecting much because it was free on (Kindle Unlimited), but this book completely nailed my previous experience teaching (12 years) and articulated my concerns about returning to teaching. I definitely need more information regarding student motivation, so the author’s references will be my reading list.

Linsin boils down all the complexities of the classroom to simplicity you can immediately apply to your practice. Buy this book, read it, give it away, rinse and repeat. I've bought and gifted eight copies.

I chose 5 stars because I was seriously contemplating ending my 6 years of teaching at the end of this school year. Applying what I've read in this book had given me a whole new "light and truth" to the classroom challenges I face daily. Thank you Mr. Linsin.

This is an excellent book. it's well written, easy to read and has great points to help you turn your classroom and teaching around. I have already implemented strategies from this book and can see a difference in my energy in the classroom and a positive change in behaviors.

I highly recommend this book. I have been following the advice given on the website for a couple of years now and this book narrows it down to a few simple but important habits. If I have a bad day now, I can pin point exactly what I forgot to do, or didn't do well enough. I have taken back control and it feels great!
