Uncovered sucked me in and kept me turning the pages from the start.

Gemma lost everything for the first time at the age of 9 when her father died, then again at the hands of the wicked stepmother (Margaret) when she was 16. She has been surviving in any way that she can for the last 8 years, dodging social services so that they wouldn't realize a teenager was living on her own and then taking jobs as a phone sex operator and as an escort to pay the bills. When she receives an anonymous phone call from someone at her father's company claiming that she was screwed out of her inheritance and that her father's death wasn't what it seemed, her world is turned upside down again.

With the help of her hacker best friend Pen, she moves out to LA and gets a job at the family company as a personal assistant to none other than the wicked stepmonster herself. Determined to "uncover, expose, and get the hell out of there", her plans are almost derailed by Mr. Sex in a Business Suit Oliver Manning right from the start- her sexy as sin stepbrother from the stepmonster's previous marriage.

We are swept along with "Lizzie" as she tries to figure out what Margaret is hiding and as Oliver launches a full-on frontal assault to get Lizzie under him in his bed. Oliver was quite yummy and nothing like the evil witch that is his mother, and Gemma couldn't fight the attraction between them no matter how hard she tried.

The first half really kept me turning the pages, then by around the 45% mark I felt like it started to lose some steam for me. Gemma wasn't making any real progress with finding anything on Margaret and I started to skim more than I was reading each page in depth. Then by around 75%, it kicked back into high gear and kept me glued until the last page again. There was a definite surprise in store for me regarding who made that initial phone call so kudos to Ms. Snow for pulling one over on me there!

Uneven, but has an HEA. Has some sexy-times, but I found the characters to be relatively shallow. It's not enough for me anymore just to watch the guy tell the girl he wants her. It's overdone and boring. At minimum it held my interest, so that's why 3 stars. I think I wanted more romance from Oliver - he came off a bit sleazy in the beginning which didn't sit well with me. And for some reason I had a hard time getting past that.

I really liked the idea and the premise. I had issues with execution and the details. And I didn't feel happy when I finished with this book; everyone is "dirty" in this book and uncovering the truth doesn't make things any cleaner. There's an HEA, but not exactly super romantic or redeeming.

Premise: Gemma receives an anonymous tip that there's more behind her father's death many years ago than she's been led by her former step-mother to believe. Upon his death, she was told that she was left with nothing in his will and that everything was left to the step-mother, including a billion-dollar fashion house. Not having anything, she's left destitute and has done what she's had to do to survive...such as escorting. [And I had issues with this since it has VERY little to do with the plot and just mucked things up]

Gemma, along with her best friend and hacker, Penelope, changes her name to Lizzie and she infiltrates the fashion house as the new personal assistant to her ex step-mother in order to gain access to her docs and computer to find incriminating evidence. [And, yes, I had issues with this too]. But apparently no one recognizes her and so she makes this work. What Gemma/Lizzie doesn't anticipate is Oliver, he ex-stepbrother, pursuing her and her attraction to him.

Uncovered by Emily Snow

Review by Jen(BestSellers & BestStellars)

Uncovered by Emily Snow was a great book! I have been a huge fan of Emily’s since Devoured and was looking forward to reading this book. It’s definitely a little different compared to Devoured and Consumed but I really enjoyed it! You get a little bit of everything in this book- suspense, love, and you are definitely looking forward to the next page because you have no idea what’s coming next. I was so happy the story was complete at the end and there was no cliffhanger. This was a great story and Emily did an awesome job with this novel!

I really liked Gemma/Lizzie. She’s beautiful, smart, and determined. She’s not living a glamorous life, but she does what she needs to do in order to make ends meet, and she lives her life. That is, until the day she receives a phone call from a stranger, and it turns her life upside down.

“Everything you know about your story- your father’s story- is a lie. It’s up to you to uncover everything.”

This puts her into action to figure out what this mystery caller is talking about. She has to go undercover to get into her Margaret’s (her step-mother) life in order to figure out the details of what happened to her father, and how Margaret was involved.

There was one thing Gemma/Lizzie wasn’t expecting, and that was Oliver Manning, who just happens to be Margaret’s son. He’s the only person that can ruin her plans, so she knew she had to stay clear of him .. only that isn’t as easy as she thought.

“He was wrong for so many reasons- legitimate, disastrous reasons- and it was getting harder and harder to stay away.”

She tries to keep her distance, knowing he can ruin everything for her. The more Gemma/Lizzie is around Oliver, she realizes how much she likes spending time with him and how he makes her feel.

“And through it all I haven’t been able to stay away from you. I haven’t been able to get you off my mind. I can barely breathe without thinking about you.”

Then we have Oliver Manning. He’s smart, sexy as hell, and can’t take no for an answer. The minute he sets his eyes on Lizzie, he knows he has to have her, no matter what.

“You want to know why I’m pursuing you? You’re not married. You’re not in a relationship. Right now, you’re looking at me like you want to rip my shirt off. I’m pursuing you because I’m intrigued with you. And you- you’re intrigued by me.”

Oliver won’t take no for an answer, and he continuously goes after Lizzie, even though she repeatedly tells him she doesn’t want him. But, Oliver is determined to have her in his bed.

“The next woman I spend the night with will be you. Whether it’s your Khaleesi getup on my floor or one of those delicious little dresses you prance around Emerson & Taylor in- you and I will f***.”

I loved this book! I really loved the interaction between Gemma/Lizzie and Oliver. I love reading a book that makes me feel like I’m a part of the story. I love being able to connect with the characters and feel what they are feeling. I also loved that this was a different kind of story, it had suspense and mystery, as well as a love story.

The quality of writing was great. The story was well-written and very enjoyable to read. This was such a great story between two characters that had such amazing chemistry. The story kept me interested and I couldn’t put it down for a second! Emily Snow did an amazing job with this novel and I can’t wait see what’s next!

4.5 Diamonds for this wonderful story!!

This one had me at hello. When Gemma Emerson gets a mysterious phone call she decides to go all undercover detective to reveal the truth about her father's will.

"Uncover. Expose. And get the hell out of there"

Her adventure begins as her alias Lizzie, the assistant to her mean step-mother Margaret who now runs her father's business ( she obviously hasn't seen the witch since she was a small child). Lizzie and her step-bitch's son, Oliver ( who runs his own company ) connect and their chemistry erupts. Oliver loves a challenge and he knows he can win Lizzie over with his charms even if it is for one night...but he wants more. He falls fast for her.

Oliver and Lizzie sizzle together but will her secrets put out the flames. Should she trust him with what she has uncovered?

This book, as all Emily Snow books do, has a little bit of everything >>>> the crazy ex, the ugly mean step mother, mysterious phone calls, quotes from The Princess Bride, steamy (s-t-e-a-m-y-!) love scenes and of course... last but not at all least... that perfect alpha male to love!

"When we do this, there'll be no inhibitions between us. There will be nothing between us. You will be mine."

Another Emily Snow must read

Uncovered was a slow story and there was something about that that I liked. Everything happened over time, the story wasn't rushed, it had time to develop. After a mysterious phone call about her father, Gemma moved to L.A. to go undercover and find out the truth behind her father's death. She's a girl on a mission and I loved feeling like I was uncovering clues with her. Oliver is an unexpected distraction to her plans though. Oliver was not what I was expecting! Sure, he was cocky, but he wasn't the rich playboy I thought he'd be when I first met him. He surprised me often. And these two, boy did they have some serious chemistry. As I said before, this story is slow, but it kept me intrigued. I had to know the all the secrets! And several of them ended up surprising me. I did find the ending to be a bit rushed, but this story wasn't all about the big reveals to me, it was Gemma's journey to the truth, with a nice love story on the side. Uncovered was mysterious and sexy and I enjoyed Snow's writing style, it flows well. I'm excited for Gemma's friend, Pen's story next!

I had seen this book while I looked for something to read and had passed on it, but when I signed up for Kindle Unlimited and saw that this was one of the books that I could read with the membership I started it and never looked back. WOW! This is my first Emily Snow book, and it definitely won't be my last. I truly loved this story! It is well written and different than what you get nowadays with your damaged characters that can only find happiness in each other, blah, blah, blah. Gemma and Oliver are perfect. There are twists and turns, and surprises all along the way. It had been a while since I picked up a book that I couldn't put down, but Uncovered really did it for me. One thing I really appreciated was that it didn't have any of the "high school" type drama that is sort of annoying. Nope, none of that! I don't know what else to say other than I wish I had picked it up sooner and that I had paced myself so that I could still have Oliver in my life :D Definitely recommend!!!

Gemma's story about finding the truth behind her inheritance is the driving force for this book. Oliver is a mouthwatering bonus. His willingness to believe his mother's crimes is why this is 4 stars instead of 5. Would like to know where Oliver and Gemma's romance ends up!

I loved this novel. I discovered Uncovered through Kindle Unlimited and am so pleased I found yet another author I really enjoy through the program. The author did an excellent job creating interesting characters, terrific and believable dialogue, and intense passion. She intertwined all these elements with an intriguing storyline that drew me in from the first chapter. I thought I had it all figured out early on, and I was mistaken, which made it that much better for me because I love surprising revelations. I'm so excited to see we'll be getting Pen's story and I'll definitely be reading Miss Snow's other novels.

there were some good twists and turns that kept me guessing. I love when one can't figure out who did what and then some sexiness is added.
Gemma or Llzzie whichever you prefer, had to put up with a lot to try and figure out what happened to her dead father and her inheritance. falling for her one-time stepmother wasn't part of the plan. luckily for them questions are answered and their lives will never be the same.

This book had some twists and turns that shocked me. Gemma was left to think her dad gave everything to her stepmother when he died. While she is trying to find out the truth she starts falling for her step brother. They are no longer related but she still tries to fight it off.

This book has some passion scenes like no other. I loved this book great read and an amazing ending!!!!

I predicted the ending for the most part but there were many explosive shocks along the way. Oliver is such a wonderful human being as well as a hot sexy guy. Gemma/Lizzie is remarkably strong and so deserving of everything good. Penelope is badass and a hoot and a holler, some of her lines had me laughing out loud. You will love this book. Definitely a five star read.

I couldn't get past 33%. Absolutely no concrete buildup. One minute she's all "no, stay away from me I'm on a mission" and the next she's letting her touch all over her in a car while she's "rubbing" him. I still have NO idea why she even likes him except that he is hot. He just was so infatuated with her I guess and kept persisting they go on a date and although she keeps saying no, it just flips and she says yes. But why? I have no idea because nothing really happened in the book. Save your time and money on this one!

Holy Cow! This book has it all, intrigue, sex, lies and even videotapes! Ms. Snow is a favorite of mine so it is not even a surprise that she nailed this one. Oliver and Gemma ooze chemistry and have realistic banter that makes you smile. I would give this book more stars if I could. I LOVE OLIVER!!! I loved him so much I wanted more!

Love, love, love Emily Snow's books! This one was a fast read for me because I couldn't put it down! The dynamic between Gemma (aka Lizzie) and cocky Oliver was raw and intense, no matter what the circumstances or relation! I loved how Emily Snow mixed romance with mystery and twists along the way. It made for a truly riveting book!

Holy cow that was one emotional roller coaster there's surprised at every corner. This book was amazing Emily Snow always knows how to make you want more. I wish there was an epilogue at the end but it was still just as good. Maybe there will be a little 1.5 book in the future telling us how there all doing?

Good mystery with twists and surprise ending. Kept my interest. Liked the plot and the characters. Didn't care for grammatical errors. Overall, it kept me entertained. Not that many books seem capable of doing that for me these days. I like this author and liked her other books, as well.

consumed within a day. Great Book! look forward to reading more from Emily Snow.
It's always great to be able to be consumed with a book or series, sometimes the blurb can be misleading and then I get completely bored with the book because it either drags or is repetitive, but not this book.

EMILY SNOW HAS BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS. THIS WAS DIFFERENT THAN HER DEVOURED SERIES AND I ENJOYED IT. I LIKED THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN GEMMA AND OLIVER. THE STORYLINE WAS GREAT AND EVERYTHING WAS WELL PLANNED OUT. I AM ALL FOR THE FEMALE LEAD IN A BOOK TO BE A STRONG WOMAN AND NOT A WEAKLING THAT THE MALE LEAD HAS TO SAVE. ALTHOUGH OLIVER DID SAVE HER IN THE END, SHE WAS A FIGHTER. THE DEVOURED SERIES IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FROM EMILY SNOW AND ALTHOUGH I LIKE OLIVER, HE WILL NEVER COMPARE TO LUCAS WOLFE! SORRY LADIES, JUST MY OPINION. HAVING SAID THAT, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD QUICK READ THAN UNCOVERED IS FOR YOU.

I finished the book because it had an interesting storyline, and I wanted to see how it ended. A bit farfetched at times. The sex scenes were somewhat explicit. I didn't consider them love scenes, just uncontrollable sex acts. The four letter choice of words, by the author, between the two main characters (during their 'sex acts') I found crude and distasteful. The book was far from being romantic or sensitive. I've read books that contain some explicit sexual scenes - but they were more tastefully done. I found the two main characters in this book to be crass. Needless to say, I had to 'skim' a lot just to get to the conclusion!

Obviously many liked this book - I'm not one of them, nor would I recommend.

An easy read, but lacking character development. I've read a few of Snow's books before and although I usually like the fun, new adult content and storyline, the characters just weren't fleshed out as much as I liked. Especially Oliver, I just didn't feel like he really saw her as more than just a piece of sex. I'll still be giving her books a read and didn't dislike this one, just don't go in thinking it will be as deep as some may like.
