good book. if you have team meetings that you dread, if all your meetings are the same format, same time length, and all are equally as productive or non-productive, read this, change and adjust to suit the agenda, and the success of the meetings will drive better agendas.

Every person dreads meetings and anything to do with them. However, Patrick Lencioni intuitively creates a make-believe company, Yip, and turns it into a modern day story of a humble leader having to come to grips with the modern cut-throat business world. Lencioni creates a business that is respectful in every aspect, except for their Monday morning staff meetings. Lencioni notes that some of the most crucial decisions are made in staff meetings, so they ultimately need to have structure and leadership, yet allow every person to participate and have a vote. Lencioni points out that weekly meetings with a time limit do not allow enough time or the opportunity to resolve all office and corporate issues. He then proceeds to break meetings into four categories: Daily Check-Ins, Weekly Tactical, Monthly Strategic, and Quarterly Off-Site Review.
At the end of the story, Lencioni then applies his thesis to real-world business meetings. He tells how any business can benefit from daily, weekly, monthly, and off-site meetings in reality. Any CEO, manager, business owner, or employee could benefit from reading this book. It puts into perspective how people feel when asked to share their feelings in a meeting, and the book stresses that expressing your opinion is not `attacking' another person's point of view, but may help to realize a problem not foreseen. Overall, I feel like Lencioni's book could definitely help to fix any problems a company is having with meetings, but with the right people to implement and enforce them; which is where I feel the book is lacking. Lencioni tells the steps to make meetings more interesting and successful, but does not give pointers on how really implement this to reality, not all companies will fit the scenario of Yip.
Nonetheless, I feel that "Death by Meeting" was an interesting read with overall helpful advice on how to put a little pep into a meeting, and make it productive

I like the way Lencioni is writing his books. Real stories are really easy to relate to.
You can read skip the first 2/3 of the book if you don't need to story, but i strongly suggest you read it at some point

Magnificent insight into the reasons why there is often confusion, sometimes chaos, and most certainly "less than ideal" performance in many organizations today. A good balance between clarifying the "theory" behind the solutions offered, and the "toolkit" to implement these solutions. A "must read" for leadership development...

Excellent book for managers or those handling people. If people put the principles into practice there would be less meetings, more effective meetings, and things would get done instead of wasting time.

I am a big fan of Patrick Lencioni. The Advantage is his best work yet. This is a good read on how to effectively do meetings in a story that is easy to read in one or two sittings. If you are struggling with ineffective meetings it is worth the money.

This is a great read and provides a great approach to the purpose, variety and structure of effective meetings. I, at several points through this book, found myself saying ah ha that makes total sense... why didn't I think of that...

Meetings are a necessary tool of management, but we are not taught how to handle meetings, so we pick it up as we go along.
I found "Death by Meeting" such an easy read, that I ran through it like a hot knife through butter the first time. Because it is a fable, and a nice easy read, I overlooked some good ideas the first time around.
Everyone in any type of organization, can benefit from this book.

Great book for anyone, anywhere, who leads meetings. Meetings should be our most productive visioning and organizing time. Too often, it's just boredom. Good insights into how to make meetings productive and lively.

I tackled this book as a supervisor after being directed to do so in a meeting. Halfway through the book I started implementing Daily tag ups and weekly tacticals with my own personnel. I suggest this book be read at all levels.

This book was required reading for a business course. I can honestly say I enjoyed reading the book. You get drawn in by the characters and you want them to succeed. I wish more teachers picked books of this nature. i was a quick easy read.

This book helped me look at an activity that takes up a lot of my time, giving me a framework to examine my roll in that activity. It came at the perfect time, my organization is at a turning point and this framework will be very helpful.
