Can Alice Clayton make a bad book... ugh... this was so sweet and loving I have a tooth ache... ridiculous... I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a good old fashioned no drama necessary book to read. Seriously pick it up... it's funny, captivating, good storm detailed characters that you love to follow and has a wonderful story line. Way to go.

This book kept me in stitches. It is hilarious! Nuts was a book-club selection (my choice) and it was fun to read-along with my friends and giggle and swoon and wish we had some of the yummy cakes from Roxie's diner. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Another fantastic book by Alice, every time I need a Rom com she is one of my go to authors, I adored this book.
It's was funny and fun and the characters were so lovable.
I love a good LOL book and this didn't disappoint. Oh and I think Polly was my favorite, what a character.

Long on clever double entendres (and I do mean long. And thick.) ... Short on character development. This is a fun romp. Alice Clayton's signature sassy voice inspires a smile on every page. My favorite romances dig a little deeper than this on the character development side, though. I'd have enjoyed it more if the author spent a little less time on hot fantasies and a little more on characters with a little more substance. Worth the read. Just not destined to be on my all-time favorite list.

4.5 stars! The wonderfully clever banter and inner dialog Clayton creates is worth every word. City girl runs away from the country town she grew up in. Totally relatable. Hot farmer? Not as obscure as you would think. Hoping the rest of this series continues to with the wit of this book.

I absolutely adore Alice Clayton's work. It's the some of the best Rom com's out there. Rosie and Leo are so cute together. I honestly think we all need a hot farmer boy. I'd happily be someone's sugar snap.
Hopefully Oscar gets a book next. I'm dying to know why he's so mysterious.

Alice Clayton knows how to make you laugh out loud - and very hot under the collar - all in the same sentence. I love her books and this one does not disappoint! Can't wait to read the rest of the series and maybe visit my local farmer's market and check out the "goods"!

I bought this book because I loved Wall Banger. The book was funny, but pretty predictable. She tried to have the characters have the same banter and say funny things, but some or it got old. The book is an easy read and very light hearted if you are looking for something easy and light to read.

Clever like all of Alice Clayton's books. The meet cutes are strategically funny. I found the hero a little cliche but he was still one to fantasize about. Love that our heroine is a chef. The dishes she prepares sound so yummy. Love the descriptions.

I love reading Alice Clayton's books after a dark or deep romance. There were some editing issues in the first few chapters, which is unusual, but once I got through that it was awesome! I can always count on Alice for a few good laughs and a few good men. :-)

Full disclosure, I love all of Alice Clayton's books. I really enjoyed the setting for this new series, and all of the growing, farming, baking, and zombie pickle making. As always her leading lady is funny, flawed, and someone you'd love to hang out with. Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I bow to Alice Clayton. Seriously ,she is one the best" Romance Fictional" writers out there for me .I get positively "Giddy " when a new book comes out by this extremely talented author.,I do the" happy dance" and tell my family not to bother me until I am done enjoying every moment of the read and the term enjoy is a understatement when reading one of her amazing stories. It all started for me with the amazing book Wallbanger and I have been hooked on her reads every since. Seriously every book is a great, witty, funny, well written, loving and romantic read from beginning to end, there special reads, every story in her Cocktail Series and her RedHead Series is and has been a 5 star read for me .Now I can say again that The Hudson Valley Series Book 1 Nuts is also a five star read. First off a huge Thank You to Alice Clayton for being so damn talented, you have" Mad "writing skills Ms . Clayton its always a pleasure, thank you ,thank you !!!Ok now for Nuts, Gosh I never new talking about Veggies could be so damn sexy, I'm Team Farm Code all the way :).and Yes, I totally agree although very useful to the environment ,bees are ass------!!! hahaha. I loved this couple, Leo and Roxie are made for each other with his large nuts and her thigh cracking nuts its seriously a relationship made in heaven. :) I loved the references to Little House , Grease and of course The Jerk, those one liners throughout the book in regards to those shows and movies had me laughing out loud and smiling from ear to ear. Perfect humor and perfectly timed, perfectly exacuted , maybe stand up comedy should be another avenue for Ms.Clayon. :) So many times throughout this read I just found myself smiling and laughing and just having a great time reading this story. Its romance done right, so smart, witty, laugh out loud funny, sexy and sweet with real issues and deep moments sprinkled in to make your heart feel and soar and make your side ache with laughter and make you smile ear to ear with happiness and the books takes you on a great journey of a read with a amazing couple and of course adorable Polly. I am just telling you please buy any book that is written by this author ,truly she is such a talented storyteller that every read is a gift of one. This story most certainly included. And you don't have to be just a super smart graduate from Adirondack Community College to get this !!! hahahaha, priceless .We sure always get the best from this author, from the cover of the book to the storyline, absolutely enjoyment from beginning to end.

Funny, fast, unexpectedly emotional and I loved it. I read it so fast that I already need a reread!! Her one-liners and puns constantly made me laugh out, loudly enough to wake my sleeping husband. And I didn't care. I've read all of her books and liked those, too - but this one was special. I can't wait to read about Oscar the Giant and Natalie!! Love your words, Alice Clayton!!

Alice Clayton is best known for her popular Cocktail series and Redhead series, the later of which sits firmly on my “favorites” bookshelf. So when I found out she was writing a new series, I admit I started fangirling just a wee bit. Okay, a lot, but then I gave myself a reality check. Angela, I thought—my little freak out session had temporarily caused me to refer to myself in the third person, you see—calm the heck down and don’t get your hopes up. I’m sure it’s incredibly hard for an author to meet readers’ expectations once the bar of excellence has been set. Well, I’m happy to say Ms. Clayton hasn’t lost her creative mojo. Nuts is funny, sassy, and altogether charming.
Roxie is living her culinary fantasy as a private chef to Los Angeles’s rich, famous, and shallow. Just when a kitchen mishap causes Roxie to be blacklisted by her clients, she receives an S.O.S. call from her mother asking for a favor. Her mom wants Roxie to come home for the summer to run the family diner. Home is a small gossip mill in Upstate New York that she’s been trying to distance herself from for years; however, the timing seems pretty perfect to leave L.A. so home again she goes. Once there, she literally bumps into Leo, the local organic farmer and town’s most eligible bachelor. With weeks of being stuck in Hudson Valley looming before her, a little summer lovin’ could be just what the doctor ordered.
Leo is the perfect swoonworthy book boyfriend, and Roxie fits Clayton’s signature wacky heroine mold like a glove.
Their chemistry is insane, and although the book isn’t laugh out loud hilarious, the sexual innuendo and humor are definitely major strengths.
"I welcomed the interruption, before we were tempted to put on an X-rated movie of Old MacDonald Had an Orgasm. A movie that, based on how good Leo was looking tonight, I’d be proud to star in."
This is a feel good book as well as a foodie’s wet dream. From black walnut cake to scallops and spaghetti aglio olio, each chapter is guaranteed to make you salivate. And then there are the retro cultural references that as a child of the 80s I really enjoyed: U2 and Little House on the Prairie—hello, Almonzo, Laura, and Nellie, my old friends—and even small nods to Grease and The Breakfast Club.
My one complaint is that Alice Clayton has created a cast of zany supporting characters that, with the exception of Roxie’s hippie mom, are largely underutilized and underdeveloped. Then again, this is book one in the Hudson Valley series so I’m hopeful that we’ll see more of them in the next book. I’m especially excited to learn more about Natalie, Roxie’s best friend.
If you’re interested in a book with a great mix of romance and humor, as well as a whole lot of heart you ought to give Nuts a try.
