This is a beautiful and heart-warming true story about kindness, love, and compassion. Steve and Derek changed every aspect of their lives when Esther entered their world. Children will delight in Esther's story and see that families come in all shapes and sizes.

A wonderful book. I’ve had this pre-ordered for months and the day it came I was so excited. My kindergarten class loved being introduced to Esther and her story. I can see this being used for many compassion lessons in classrooms!

I don’t even have children and I love this book! Esther always manages to make me smile. This book can teach us all that it doesn’t matter what your family looks like as long as you love each other.

Esther teaches love, kindness and compassion to humans and animals in a way that isn’t preachy. This book is great for all ages. I bought 2. One for me and one for the kids at the hospital where I work.

Wonderful book written by amazing people. I hope Steve and Derek come out with more children's books. Kindness to animals and acceptance of all types of families is a great message for kids. Loved it!

While the illustrations in this book are gorgeous, I would have liked to have known prior to purchase that Esther's family consisted of two gay Dads. While I can appreciate that this type of book would be a welcome addition for some families, and they would be happy with the quality and story, it's not one we are comfortable presenting in our home, and I would have appreciated a heads up in the description prior to purchase.

I have been following Esther the Wonder Pig, on her Facebook page for a few months and fell in love with her, her siblings and her two dads.
This little pig puts a smile on my face every day, so I was thrilled when I saw The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig - a children's book.
This book is so absolutely adorable. The story of Esther and her experiences (including her two dads, Dolorese and her other siblings) is wonderful, heartwarming, cute, sweet and overall a lovely, lovely book - perfect for children of ALL ages.
No violence, simply love on each page as Esther and her two dads illustrate through words and cute illustrations how families do come in every shape and size.
Illustrations are right on point and the accompanying story is heartwarming.
This is a perfect book for everyone.

We got this as a gift for our two year old daughter, who we are raising to understand that all animals are meant to be loved, not eaten. I love that this book is about a happy life for a pig, and ultimately all the other animals who came to live on that farm. It’s a great story with a great message, and entertaining to read, with great illustrations.

I first wrote about Esther the Wonder Pig back in 2016 when Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter inadvertently ended up living with a full sized pig instead of the mini-pig they thought they were raising. Esther changed their lives - and the lives of many others. (my review)
The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig, written by Steve and Derek with Caprice Crane, is a retelling of Esther's story in a children's picture book format. It was perfect for Gramma and Little Guy storytime.
We had to stop at the forward for awhile as there is an actual photograph of Esther in a bathtub that fascinated him. I had to promise that we would go on the computer after we read the book to look at more pictures of Esther.
The first read through had us guessing how big the pig was going to get. And where would she sleep as she keeps outgrowing her beds? What will they do next? There are many themes and ideas to explore with subsequent readings. Love, animal rescue, pets and families of all shapes and sizes. Having read the adult version, I wondered if the picture would touch on veganism, but did not - that's a much heavier topic for a young one.
Cori Doerrfeld's illustrations are playful. She gives Esther expressions that can be 'read' by a child - most of then being happy. Steve and Derek's expressions are also easy to interpret. The colour palette used is bright and appealing, as are the illustrations. Doerrfeld has captured Esther's story with her illustrations.
Little Guy was quite taken with Esther and I am sure this is one book we'll be reading again. And the burning question that we had to investigate after reading? Can a pig really smile? What do you think!?

This is a great book to introduce Esther’s story to little kids. The story is easy for them to follow and the illustrations are adorable. I’ve followed Esther and family for years on Facebook and was so excited when they told us that this book was coming out. I had read the book about Esther for adults and was looking forward to this kids book. I think they got it just right. Esther, her dads, and her fur brothers and sisters make up a wonderful family and have put together a wonder book for everybody to enjoy.

It's a playful and thoughtfully-written book for children of all ages, with some great messages about acceptance, love, kindness and diversity. You can see Caprice's storytelling style shine through - it's fun and it keeps your attention. It's also beautifully illustrated... my very young ones were captivated by the pictures. A must have for anyone who reads to their children... which I'm hoping is everyone!

This is the precious story of one of my favorite people and places.....Esther and her family at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary. The story is one of unconditional love and inclusion. The illustrations are adorable and perfectly capture the people and animals I've come to know and love from following Esther the Wonder Pig. The way the story is told will capture the attention of kids....young and old alike. You will fall in love with Esther and those who get involved in her shenanigans. It is such a fun book filled with love. Don't hesitate. Buy it now!

What a delight it was to read The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig by Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter. What child would not love the colorful illustrations, Ester’s story, and the message of love and acceptance? I look forward to reading it to my grandchildren and helping them learn that “families come in all shapes and sizes.”

This is truly an amazing beautiful children’s book everyone must get. The two dads of Esther are so kind and loving I feel people should know about them and their life with Esther. Children need to know about Esther and all animals and it’s ok th have a different type of family ❤️ What is most important in this book is the love the family has for each other. It shows so much love and kindness and the message is so important for children to learn. I love this book and am sharing it with as many people as I can. It’s a must get book for your family and children. And it was love and I love this book so much. Esther and her dads biggest fan from Florida. Peace☮️Love❤️Esther??❤️

What a great story of love and compassion for all. I teach Humane Education lessons for our local animal shelter and have incorporated this into our rotation of compassionate stories. I love that it features Esther but also shows her two and four legged family members. I love that there is diversity. And I love that it makes you think about empathy and life from the perspective of a pig. Great story and I highly recommend!

Esther’s story is truly a beautiful one. There is, unfortunately, a common misconception that pigs should end up on a dinner plate when the reality is pigs are intelligent, loving animals with big personalities. As our own mini-pig nears four years old (we’ve had him since he was 5 weeks old), we are so thankful that he’s been a part of our lives. Esther’s story reminds us how compassion and love rules all; it is amazing what Steve and Derek have been able to achieve with their sanctuary in the past several years. I highly recommend both this picture book and their memoir for anyone who wants a “feel-good” story about two dads and their beloved girl.

Who doesn't love Esther The Wonder Pig? Esther is changing hearts everyday. This book is adorable! It is a beautiful story of a family full of so much love. I bought this for my Granddaughter who is 3 years old. She is in love with Esther! She giggles all the way through the book. She says her favorite part is when her Dad's find Esther at the neighbors eating the apples. She was so happy they found Esther. The illustrations couldn't be any cuter. This book is a favorite. Esther has shared with the world just how sweet, loving and highly intelligent pigs are! Esther is truly a Princess Pig!

Every child...and everyone who has ever been a child or knows a child, should have this book! It's heartwarming and funny while teaching one of life's most valuable lessons. The illustrations alone make me laugh every single time I look at them. Destined to become a childhood classic, Esther the Wonder Pig deserves her rightful place on bookshelves around the world beside other classics like Curious George and everything ever written by Dr. Seuss.

This book is so wonderful at teaching kids that families can come in all different shapes & sizes - as long as there is LOVE. It tells the story of Steve and Derek, and their “mini” pig, Esther. As Esther grows and grows up to 600+ pounds, Derek & Steve have to get very creative and finally move to a farm to keep Esther & their growing family at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary happy and loved. I am hoping the next book features Esther’s new best friend, a turkey named Cornelius.

It teaches us about kindness and compassion for all the living beings that we share our home planet with. Absolutely recommendable for any kids of any age. I can't wait for the book coming out in this summer.

Love the story. A great way to teach unconditional love and that families come in all shapes and sizes. Even when Esther got into trouble her family still loved her. Would recommend this book to anyone.

No pig has two dads. Period. No human does either, BTW. It's biologically impossible no matter what anyone thinks or feels. Because of books like this I can no longer let my little kids peruse cute-looking kids' books with confidence that the family life being portrayed isn't in odds with nature. Just be aware before you purchase so you can feel comfortable with your decision.

This was given to our son as a gift at Christmas. I had forgotten about this book until we were organizing them recently. This book is so contrived. This is a vanity project by social media entrepreneurs. This book is their story. They missed an opportunity to start a series of children's books starring this pig on her own adventures in a make-believe world where she can talk to other creatures, like in Winnie the Pooh or Thomas the Train. Instead, they made this bed time story about the hardships of sharing your habitat with farm animals- and for no good reason.
