Pretty good writing style but somewhat superficial. Court Gentry is hard to identify with or understand the way he thinks. The book is entertaining enough to keep reading but when I was finished it felt neither enthusiastic about it nor sorry that I read it.

I know it's fiction but this pushes the boundaries whilst trying to be topical with the use of the power brokers & North African despots. How this guy can survive with the entire espionage world holding a shoot on site moratorium stretches the imagination somewhat.

......Read, Ballistic or Dead Eye, they were good and so was this till Court landed in the Sudan and met an ISS airhead and the whole book went south. She was so out o f character for Court and so was he for the rest of the book.

Maybe Mr Greany was just starting out when wrote the first two because The Grey Man, the first book of this series was bad also, but not as sophomoric as this one.

Sorry but it's true. I think Mr Greany knows it too. The next two were far better. I'll try the next one if there is a next one but if it's like this, that will end it for me.
The Grey Man: Vignettes (Volume 1) :: Bloody Sunday: A Thriller (A Dewey Andreas Novel) :: Ballistic (Gray Man) :: Ballistic (A Gray Man Novel Book 3) :: Dead Eye (Gray Man)

Plenty of action. The lead character is given almost super human capabilities. If your looking for a believable story look elsewhere. If you want to be entertained and don't care about believability gives this a try.

This book will be liked by readers who enjoy reading about lots of violence while they are safe in their reading chairs. It will be liked by readers who like non stop action and much suspense. It will be enjoyed by readers who like heroes who overcome impossible odds.

The first book was decent, but this sophomore effort was too sophomoric. Gentry, the super assassin, makes way too many mistakes, too many bad decisions, and should be dead several times over. One spoiler - the author makes a big deal about Gentry getting an arrow shot in his back...an arrow dipped in festering bacteria which causes his wound to possibly become gangrenous. And then nothing. We don't have a scene with him finding antibiotics, he just survives and get better between scenes and with no repercussions. Except that I am a bit tired of the loose story telling, dangling plot threads, and unresolved plot complications. That's left for the next book in the series.

The writing suffers and dwells on too much filler such as unrewarding and unnecessary narratives describing commando skirmishes (maybe they prove the author's bona fides...maybe). The author needs to up his game, so if you want a real Gray Man, Try "The Grey Man" as in "The Assassin The Grey Man And The Surgeon," which has it's own weaknesses, but is still a better written, better plotted novel, more enjoyable novel (I am only half way through at this moment, but you can find it in the the store Lending Library for free).

Mark Greaney started off weakly with his first "Gray Man" novel (titled The Gray Man). However, with On Target, Greaney has gotten the formula done perfectly. Extremely hard-hitting but, most importantly, much more credible than his original attempt.

Court Gentry is a three dimensional character. The action is described well. I like to look up the locations in Google Earth to add one more layer. If you are into military fiction you will get into these books.

Action packed from the very beginning. He sure loses a lot of nice weapons. I try to figure out how he gets out of his situations, but I'm never right; somewhat close, but never right. Keeps me in suspense. Great book.

I really dislike writting reviews even though some authors are quite inspiring. Reading is one of my favorites forms of entertainment and with the advent ebooks and self published authors, the number of new published books are staggering. It seems the only way to get to the books/authors I like are to leave a review. Most books I read already have well thought out reviews that I generally agree with. In most cases I only leave a review if I either really enjoyed the book or hated it. So, for this particular book I concur with the other five star reviews and leave this review to show support and to encourage timely future books. I thank the author for an affordable good story.

just as good as the first grey man book, sometimes .. most unbelievable ...but good reading besides he is the grey man! Will probably read the next in the series and look for other books by Mark Greaney.
