This is a very original idea - to combine Shakespeare with science fiction - and it results in a lot of fun! Doescher stays true to the movie. Many of the Shakespearean paraphrases he uses will be doubly amusing for those who have read the Bard's works. I also really enjoyed R2D2's lines!

If you love Star Wars and you love literature, this is the book for you. If you're not really into Shakespeare you might find the book a mouthful and a bit drab.
I personally love the book. My sister and I acted out the parts, did some scansion, and a whole bunch of other things that English majors do. :) I wish they taught this in college. :)

Although Ian "borrowed" some lines from other plays by The Bard and slightly modified them, I enjoyed this book very much. At times, I burst out laughing at work before I could stop myself. I received a few raised eyebrows. I WANT the next episode!!!

Bought this for my roommate as a Christmas gift. He loved it! I stole a peek at a few pages before I gift-wrapped it. It is fantastic. Might have to get the rest of the series for his birthday. I love the cover too.

Just went and hear a lecture by Ian - very smart, entertaining guy. These books are genius! I love that my 12 year old is really into them. He spoke about some clever easter eggs hidden in his books, so my son's excited to read all of them to discover the hidden gems.

All the lines you remember from the movie, but redressed Elizabethan-style. If you enjoy Shakespeare, you will enjoy this. If you enjoy "Star Wars", you may or may not. I love that you get an understanding of R2-D2's motivations in asides.

Originally started reading it as a library book. By the 4th page, I was laughing hysterically. I then ordered 3 from the store, (2 for gifts). Love it. When I get caught up on my reading (I'm a pathological book accumulator), I'll order the next one.

Brilliant and funny. Loved it so much, I gave the set of the first two to my nephew as a graduation gift (with the promise of the third, upon release). Shakespeare, Theatre and Sci Fi...uber nerdy good times!!

You have always dreamed of reading the Shakespeare version of "Star Wars," and here it is. What more is there to say?

While nobody can write quite as well as the Bard, Doescher does an admirable job and comes pretty close.

This book is an excellent escape for any geek who loves Star Wars, but never got that into Shakespeare's stuff. It's so much fun that I handed it off to my kids so that they can read for fun before school MAKES them read his stuff. So enjoyable.

Because of being a Shakespeare and Star Wars Lover, this combination was fun to read and easier to understand because of the characters. I am looking forward to more and hope this was enough of a success to do so.

With degrees in both theatre and computers and a life-long love of science fiction, for me this was one of the most enjoyable, just plain fun, things I've read in some time. Mr. Doescher seems to have not only a near perfect grasp of Elizabethan English and iambic pentameter, but also a good grasp of earlier dramatic poetry, especially that from the Greek classical period.

I was very impressed. The line for when Leia comments about Chewy walking in front of her is great. Nice and easy to read typesetting is a plus. The cover artwork makes this book an addition to my living room bookshelf and not relegated to a box.

An excellent adaptation of the story to Shakespeare's style. I recommend it. I found several, cliche lines from Shakespeare incorporated/adapted for no reason and this was disappointing. It would receive all five stars from me were it not for this unnecessary inclusion that actually detracts from the scenes in which they have been placed.

To see Star Wars interpreted in this fashion is amazing! The comedy of R2-D2 and C-3PO is brought out brilliantly and in iambic pentameter. I can see in my mind the saber duels, these iconic characters brought to life just through the text. The real test awaits...to have it read out loud as a cast and hear the actors in my classes interpret it for the first time will be great to hear! This is such a great avenue to introduce students(anyonre) to Shakespeare's style!

This novel is one of the most incredible things imaginable. If you enjoy Star Wars, read it. If you enjoy Shakespereian literature, read it. If you hate everything, read it. It hardly gets any better than this.

Its Ok and entertaining and all but its not going to say anything new about star wars or about shakespeare. At best it has some really entertaining quips and connections that only true Star wars fans or shakespeare fans would recognize. I suppose thats entertaining enough to buy it.
