I like all of Catherine Coulter FBI mystery books. I particularly like the ones with Savich and Sherlock. I enjoy the suspense and the
twists and turns in the books. They keep me guessing about the outcome.

. . . and I found Catherine Coulter! I decided to start at the beginning of the FBI series, in case I got hooked. I AM! I could not put the book down until I had read every word cover to cover. Definitely going to pursue the full series!

Still reading Catherine Coulter's books as the first book I read was #3 in the FBI series "The Target" which was phenomenal. After reading "The Target", I thought all of her books were going to be of that caliber so went out and purchased more in the series, and now have read 1,2,and 4 along with "The Target" (3). This being #4 "The Edge" I found her prose to be similar to books 1 and 2. The author likes to make comments that really divert from the dialouge and the telling of the story. I don't know if she is trying to be funny or add something, in any case it just doesn't work for me. I do think her characters could be great if she didn't try to insert these quirky comments that distract or take away from the story! In this story the main character Ford MacDougal an FBI agent calls for help in solving the mystery of why his sister Jilly ran off a cliff in her porsche in Jilly's hometown of Edgerton, OR. The Agents he calls in for support are characters that we were introduced to in books one and two, FBI agents Savich and Sherlock. The mystery does pick up pace when all the FBI agents and a DEA agent Laura are kidnapped and taken to a mysterious place and find themselves detained and restrained. The pace quickens as they manage an escape and are being followed into a jungle. Sadly towards the end Ms Coulter ties up loose ends quickly and to me in a sloppy way, almost seeming she reached a page limit, and had to shut the story down in a hurry to give you all the answers to the mystery in a lump sum. As I have mentioned before if you want to try her mysteries start with book #3 which was a gem, and then decide if you want to continue on. For me I have bought several in the series, so all I can hope for is that she will return to the level of writing she gave us in book #3 "The Target"!! For me the "The Edge" was just tepid compared to the boiling over thriller she gave us in "The Target".
The Cove and The Maze the first two thrillers in the FBI series :: The Target (An FBI Thriller) :: Little Lord Fauntleroy: Illustrated :: Little Lord Fauntleroy (Puffin Classics) :: KnockOut (An FBI Thriller)

I'd already downloaded this one and didn't bother to check reviews. I listened to it via the Audible Romance Package. I'm not sure why these are billed as books about Savich and Sherlock as they seem to always be secondary characters. Here the H is an FBI agent, who was recently injured in Tunisia and is in hospital when he has some sort of connection with his sister, knowing that something had happened to her. He finds out that she's in hospital after apparently suicidally driving her car off a cliff. The H comes to find her and discovers lots of weird stuff. Again there is the backdrop of weird sexual stuff. I particularly dislike hearing about the H sleeping with another woman the same day that he meets and is attracted to the h. He has enthusiastic sex with a random secondary character but this doesn't stop him having enthusiastic sex with the h, the next day. Ewww. Fortunately, the author doesn't go into too much detail otherwise I'd not be able to endure these books. The story is extremely convoluted and the whole cast of characters end up in a South American jungle trying to escape and survive. I honestly think that this book was a bit of a hot mess. I am persevering though.

Being a dedicated fan of Catherine Coulter I decided to ignore the numerous negatives reviews here and checked out THE EDGE at the library. One week later with fewer than one hundred pages read, I have to admit that I've been wasting my time. What a disappointment to Ms Coulter's loyal fans! After reading one third of this book I find that the story has barely progressed. The characters are so poorly developed that I have no desire to even see how the story ends. The dialogue is silly and not even believable for a man of Mac's description. Will the real Catherine Coulter please come forward and write something worthy of her time and ours?

Catherine Coulter's book "The Edge" is well worth the read for fans of mysteries or for fans of her FBI series. I am one who likes the series very well. The characters are well done and the story plot is well designed for a good read. Enjy.

Ms. Coulter is generally good; one of my favorite authors. This book was disappointing however. Pretty good reading until the climax/ending; wait a minute; hmmm, there was no ending. I thought perhaps there would be a sequel as there was unfinished business, but nada.

Not as good as expected. Glad that I borrowed this book. Iv'e read a lot of this authors books and they were excellent. This one was weird. Only finished it because when I start a book I like to finish it. This one was trashy as far as I'm concerned. I did not feel for the characters in this story as I have in here other books. Disappointed in this one.
