Great book highly recommend. It shows you how to approach the game of baseball and how to prepare yourself for a game , but the information not only applies to baseball but to other things as well. Great book.

If you are looking to play high school, college and/or professional baseball, this book is a must! I bought this book (much earlier edition) when I was in college and it completely changed the way I saw and played the game. I am now a coach and I keep this book on my desk and refer to it almost every week, Maybe I'll buy the new edition to see if there are any significant changes... If not just so I can have a copy without a faded cover.

I dedicated my childhood to trying to make it the Major Leagues. I was a serious ballplayer with big dreams. This book helped me inch my way closer and closer to fulfilling my dream. My coach and I used this book as a tool, and we saw significant improvements to my game. The mental aspect of the game is so critical to any ballplayer's success, and this book will give you an edge on the ballplayer next to you competing for your spot, scholarship, or professional contract. Years after I was released from minor league baseball, this book again proved to be a valuable resource to me as a high school baseball coach.

Buy this book, get the edge, and get to work. Remember, "Anything is possible if you show up for work." But don't forget, you have to work smarter than the next guy or he'll beat you. Get at it this winter, for there is no offseason for the serious ballplayer.

As a librarian and lifelong baseball fan, I was sceptical of the glowing reviews for this book I found on the store. I thought they had to have been written by friends and family because I'd never heard of Harvey Dorfman. After reading this book, though, I can see that they were all completely accurate.

Coming from the philosophy that Baseball is Life - I would go further to suggest that with some judicous editing, this book would give more practical advice on success that does such other titles as "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", "Who Moved My Cheese?" and "The One Minute Manager." It would help you keep an even keel and look at the beauty of life with greater clarity than "Tuesdays with Morey." As it is, it's just a baseball book, but for those like Annie Savoy in the movie Bull Durham who believe in the Church of Baseball, this book is indeed very important.

I read this book with the intention of applying it to my short-lived career as a high-school baseball player. However, I found myself using it's basic ideas and concepts for school work, projects and everyday life. It's fun to read and quite addictive. Anyone who would like to know how to effectively channel their mental thoughts would do well to read it.

As a softball player, it's difficult to find good books about softball, especially from a mental aspect. Although baseball may have it's strategic differences compared to softball, this book is a great resource for anyone who plays ball. As a college softball player, I've used this book throughout my high school and collegiate years. When I get into a slump, get down on myself, or just feel frustrated, I return to this book. It has been essential to my success as a player. Before the start of offical practices each winter, I reread the book. I've highlighted it, underlined it, and bookmarked specific passages.
I've always considered the mental game of a sport far more important than the physical and this book has helped widen my eyes even more to that aspect of the game. I highly suggest buying this book if you play the sport, coach it, or even love it. It has some great points and some great stories from professional players. This is the perfect book for anyone who wants to truely understand the game of baseball.

My son was struggling in high school baseball, especially in key opportunities at the plate. He had a history of being productive at the plate, so this was rather unusual. It really looked like he was "choking" at the plate, so I did some research, and read many reviews of this book. I purchased the book and gave it to him, and he got right into reading it. Immediately he identified several basics flaws in his mental approach to the game. Just as immediately, he went on a hitting tear, hitting over .500 for the next few weeks. I then purchased a copy for my nephews (one a college player), and they both attributed their successful seasons in part to this book. Great book!

The Mental Game of Baseball is an outstanding read. It is loaded with useful information. It is refered to as the "baseball bible". Anyone from little league coach, high school coach, college coach, player, or parent should take the time to read this book. It gave me (a college baseball coach) a new found respect and understanding for the mental side of baseball. I recommend this book to every baseball enthusist out there.

Or your In! This book takes the mental aspects of Baseball to a level of mind over matter. What is meant by that is that it does "matter" how your "mind" plays the game of baseball as much or more than your body exerts its energy in playing the game on the diamond. This is an excellent book for understanding the game from a "mentalist" perspective.

My 12 year old actually read this book himself halfway through the season. His mental toughness increased incredibly. This was by far his biggest weakness when playing baseball. I expect him to be even better, and have even more fun, going into next season having already read it.
