Stephanie Seneff has a different view on the causes of Alzheimer's. Pamela McDonald may be wrong in her recommendations of a low fat diet for APOE-4 carriers. In fact Seneff contends that it may increase the probability of contracting Alzheimer's. [...] They cannot both be right. Seneff is an Principle Investigator at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. [...] Also consider The Brain Trust Program by Larry McCleary, M.D., who has a different conclusion and would contradict McDonald's recommendations.

Mahalo Pam and my sister for giving me this book

I am delighted beyond words that "the perfect gene diet" was given to me as a gift from my sister. For two years i have had an unkown very painful rash sometimes all over my entire body, and/or always in my arm pit and hair line. I went to every possible dr. here on oahu in my health care plan, no one could come up with a firm diagnosis, other than i am may be in the early stages of lupus and would i like to begin treatment for lupus "i said no i dont have lupus" and/or keep appyling steroid cream. It is never good to keep applying steroids to the largest organ the skin. I was determined to meet a medical practioner who could help me. I sought out accupuncture which was very helpful in reducing my radical inflammation which could be seen by everyone, but then it would come back. Pam is truly the person who has helped me clincially so that I could heal myself.

When i began reading pam's book, i literally could not stop reading the book, in a weekend i had highlighted all pertinent info, finished the book. At last someone who knows the danger of chronic low grade inflammation, and has a solution. all i kept thinking was I gotta meet this lady/nurse practicioner, i looked on the back of the book to see where she was located and called her office to schedule an appointment for medical evaluation. i was so pleased to learn that she was not too far from my parents in northern california.

Meeting with a integrative medicine practioner is quite different from a standard family practice physcian and was just what i was seeking, and cutting edge medicine. Pam's knowledge, and her interest in helping me was the miracle i had been seeking, and I cant thank her enough. Being a medical provider myself i knew immediately between the book and meeting Pam she had a solution that i was willing to try. She immediately took me off of several major food categories known to cause inflammation. my advance lipid test results were alarming, i was at risk which i had not idea i had. i thought i was just there for a mysterious rash that was effecting my life, pam literally has given me a diet, exercise, and intention-filled lifestyle to follow and 60 days later my rash has reduced significantly, Yeah ! i can where long sleeves again. More importantly i see my body changing physically, emotionally, and mentally. Next week i take another advance lipid test to see how much cholesteral levels have changed. I know that they have already. But i have made a lifetime commitment to what i have learned.

Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women, so knowing your lipids is critical, dont ever think that is not. Combined with her knowledge. dedication and intention to prevent heart disease, alzheimers, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic illnesses it is commendable work to be shared with humanity, all doctors office should be providing the same service, vs. treating the disease state. Living in hawaii where all of these conditions haunt much of the population, you bet i want to know this information. This is not a diet. It is cutting edge preventative integrative medicine.

If your health is not good or your interested in taking care of your body Get the book, and see if it speaks to you as it did for me. My intention was to be healed, and i was willing to do the work. With Pam you gotta have the intention to do the work. The bottom line is from your "plate to cells" think about that. You are what you eat. The body does not lie about what we do to it knowingly or unknowingly. Eat local, only organic, and non-gmo (genetically modified organsisms). Vote prop 37 (on the next election) that the labeling of non-gmo food groups be enforced by FDA law, so we have a choice, as they are in europe. Get informed on what is happening to our foods and how it impacts are health negatively. Dont wait till you are diagnosed with "dis-ease". Know how your food has been processed, read labels...Love your body and treat it well. If you dont know how get this book and start from there. Also google GMO and get informed.

My hope would be that every new born parent would not only know his/her childs weight, gender,etc. but also to start life off knowing your apo e gene type so that you can provide your child with foods that support his/her apo e gene for optimal health.

My intention in 2013 and forever is to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit. And to share this info with others. What is your intention?

Pam McDonald has worked with patients all of her professional career, and understands that we are not all created the same. Our metabolism differs, our propensity for certain diseases differ, and a main reason is because of her individual genetic blueprints. Seeing health from the perspective that each person is an individual has enabled Pam to treat patients based on their genetic make-up. If you suffer from the chronic diseases that conventional medicine has trouble treating - Alzheimers, Parkinson's, high cholesterol, to name a few - then you should check out The Perfect Gene Diet. It's preventative. It's without side effects. More people need to get on the health regimen that best matches their genes and off medicines that have the potential for side effects.

What an amazing book! I have finally found a long term/life long solution to eating the best food for my body and the science proves it! My father passed away of Alzheimer's disease and I always wondered if I would be a carrier of the Alzheimer's gene. Through the testing with Pam McDonald, I was able to discover that I am not a carrier for the Alzheimer's gene. Excellent news. Additionally, I have implememted the APO E 3/3 food plan and also increased my exercise regimine that Pam recommended. For me, I feel tremendously comforted to know that what I am doing today is a proven path for a disease free future. I higly recommend the APO E Gene diet to anyone interested in optimal health and a disease free life. Who would not want that?! No more fad diets to worry about for the rest of your life! This book was easy to understand, and I appreciated that everything in it was backed up with scientific research. I appreciated the sample plans and instructional guides, as well as the patient studies. It's more of a lifestyle change, and that is key to understanding if one would be successful on this plan. Although I found it easy to follow along with, I think that the science could intimidate some readers. Thanks so much!

This is definitely NOT a fad diet. This book emphasizes lifestyle change (nutrition, exercise, diet, stress) and scientifically backs up why these changes are necessary and beneficial. It's a great, easy read. The information is so skillfully laid out, all that is left to do is for the reader to be ready to make some changes. If you have any chronic disease that has affected either you or someone else in your family, you have the power to change your health outcome.

This book is an incredible introduction into the world of integrative medicine. Learning your APO E gene type allows you to personalize your approach to your own health- for symptom, disease, and risk reduction. Pamela McDonald thrives at identifying the whole picture when assessing patients. What are your risk factors? What are your symptoms? What are the contributing factors in your life? How do we address these contributing factors? I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like a personalized approach to their own health as well as for anyone struggling with symptoms of disease.

This book presents clear scientifically based information so that you can be in charge of your own well being in a complete way. It makes so much sense that there is not one diet that is the solution for everybody. When I came across this information it was an 'ah ha' moment. As well as getting information that is more individualized there are good basic nutritional facts laid out that I hope everybody in country gets to know about. Along with the dietary information there are specific details given on exercise. Another critical component to our sense of well being and that has significantly helped me. I like how it provides me with ideas for making these lifestyle changes some of which have not been so easy. I hope that one day we all get to benefit from this integrative medicine approach to our health.

Prior to reading this book, I was on metformin for diabetes and lisinopril for high blood pressure. I am now medication free for the last 18 months thanks to Pam and The Perfect Gene Diet. Both my sugar levels and blood pressure are perfect, since i went on the diet. Thanks for writing this book Pam - the approach works if you do the work! Keep up the great work!

I am a certified personal trainer and nutritional consultant. I have studied every diet out there and became very disheartened with the current trends in the fitness world. I was in New Leaf market and picked up Well Being Journal with Right Food for Your Genotype on the cover. It was an article by Pamela McDonald, N.P... Great article and I think what I was looking for. I went to Pam's website and found she was doing a seminar close to me. I went, got tested and found what I had been searching for, for years! There is not one health and fitness program that fits everyone, we are unique and have one of 6 different APO E Genes. This made sense, this is healthy, and this changes lives! The book is wonderful, gives a whole life approach to health and fitness!
